After Getting Pregnant, I Fought for a Divorce from My Alpha - Chapter 25
“Where’s An Xiangdi?” Yao Honglang had just gotten off the plane and sped all the way to the hotel booked by the crew.
The entrance of the hotel was already surrounded by reporters. If not for the security guards holding them back, they would have rushed in.
“In… in his room.” Xiao Gu had picked up Yao Honglang from the underground parking lot and was now trotting to lead the way. “Yao-ge, don’t worry. Mr. An hasn’t gone anywhere. He’s been in his room the whole time.”
“Mhm.” A sound barely escaped Yao Honglang’s throat. His face, mostly hidden behind thick black-rimmed glasses, was completely expressionless.
When the elevator doors opened, several staff members from the production crew were already gathered in the hallway, peeking around as if wishing for x-ray vision to see through the closed door into An Xiangdi’s room.
“Hey, hey, hey, his agent is here.”
“Make way.”
The crew members automatically stepped back. Yao Honglang was a well-known name in the industry. Many artists were afraid of him, and even crew members were wary.
He knocked a few times on An Xiangdi’s door and then waited patiently outside for the actor to open it.
Moments later, with a click, the door opened. An Xiangdi had already washed up and changed into casual clothes.
He had anticipated the “grand spectacle” outside the door. While inside his room, he could vaguely sense various pheromones in the air, which confirmed what Dr. Qiao had said—his senses were gradually sharpening.
But being surrounded by so many pheromones was uncomfortable, so as soon as Yao Honglang came inside, An Xiangdi shut the door.
“Did Director Wang come to question you?” Yao Honglang glanced around the room. The curtains were drawn, the lights were on, and there was an opened bag of sour jujubes on the table.
“He did.” An Xiangdi sat back down on the bed. “He asked if the trending topic was true.”
“What did you say?” Yao Honglang pushed up his glasses and stared coldly at him.
“I said yes.” When An Xiangdi saw the trending topic, his first reaction had been panic. He immediately tried to call Shen Xiao.
But before the call connected, he hung up. Because the more he thought about how he’d never be able to hide it once he started showing, the more he felt that it was better to face it head-on now.
Yao Honglang pursed his lips, then pulled over a chair and sat across from him. “You admitted it pretty quickly. So, tell me what exactly happened.”
“Well… just what the trending topic says.” Under Yao Honglang’s questioning, An Xiangdi suddenly lost the calmness he had earlier when alone.
Before Yao Honglang arrived, An Xiangdi had been sitting in his room browsing Weibo.
He checked the trending tab to see the hottest comments, and refreshed real-time updates to see the newest posts. Most people were speculating whether he was actually an Omega, and any comments trying to downplay it as simple nausea were quickly drowned out.
Netizens were always the first to chase gossip, and they had a sixth sense for sniffing out the truth.
On his right side, his phone screen was still lit, displaying the top trending Weibo post.
@GossipWeeklyV: #AnXiangdiMorningSickness? Sources say An Xiangdi has been experiencing repeated nausea during filming for Faded Seasons. His husband Shen Xiao has been a constant presence on set. Yangmei and sour jujubes have become the most frequently seen snacks! [Highlight][Highlight][Highlight][GIFs] ×9
Onlooker A: How can an Alpha be pregnant?!
TheSkyIsFalling: Nausea? Why not just say he’s sick?
CurlyLikeAMosquitoCoil: Sick every day? Yeah right.
NoonBell: Clearly he’s an Omega!
XiaoAn’sLittleJacketV: Not buying it until there’s an official statement.

EggPain: Plot twist: a live Omega reveal?!

XiaoShenFluteGirlsNeverGiveUp: AA or AO, they’re still adorable! True love is real!
WatermelonGang: Am I the only one curious how many months along he is, and whether the baby will be an A, B, or O? What’s the kid’s name??
StrawberryDust: Bro, your comment gave me a headache. Why no punctuation?? qwq
…
Under Yao Honglang’s gaze, An Xiangdi slowly slid his finger down the screen. The number of comments was still increasing.
“When Shen Xiao handed you over to me, why didn’t he mention you were an Omega?” Yao Honglang suddenly muttered.
An Xiangdi froze, thinking he misheard. He looked up. “What did you say?”
“Nothing.” Yao Honglang stood up. “This ‘source’ needs to be investigated.”
Only then did An Xiangdi realize the real issue.
“How many people around you know that you’re an Omega—and that you’re pregnant?” Yao Honglang narrowed his eyes.
“Shen Xiao.” The first name that popped into An Xiangdi’s mind was, of course, his Alpha.
“…Besides your Alpha, next.” Yao Honglang clearly didn’t want to hear that name.
Xiao Gu, who had been standing quietly, nervously raised a trembling hand and pointed to himself. “Mr. An, Yao-ge, I-I-I know…”
Yao Honglang’s sharp gaze swept over. Xiao Gu’s hand trembled even more. “I swear! I definitely haven’t told anyone! This secret is going to the grave with me!”
“How did you find out? And how can you prove you won’t leak it?” Yao Honglang pressed him step by step.
Xiao Gu was timid by nature. Under interrogation, he backed up until he was pressed against a cabinet with nowhere left to go.
“I really… really didn’t tell anyone. I just found out by accident…” Before he could finish, An Xiangdi cut in.
“I told him. He’s my assistant. There’s no problem with him knowing.” An Xiangdi’s tone was calm.
“I thought after what happened with your former agent, you’d know who to trust and who not to.” Yao Honglang’s words carried a subtle accusation. If no one else knew, Xiao Gu would be the prime suspect.
“I do know, and it’s not Xiao Gu.” An Xiangdi had worked with him for over half a year and trusted his character.
The moment An Xiangdi defended him, Xiao Gu’s tears fell. He’d never known that being trusted could be so moving. Not only did An Xiangdi trust him—he even lied for him.
In truth, Xiao Gu had found out by accident. An Xiangdi had never told him directly.
Staring into An Xiangdi’s firm eyes, Yao Honglang eventually relented. “Whether it’s him or not, your assistant is suspended for now. Once we find out the truth, we’ll clear his name.”
“I don’t thi—” An Xiangdi was about to argue, but then thought better of it. Perhaps the suspension could help flush out the real culprit. “Got it.”
“There are still a few things I want to ask you. I hope you’ll answer honestly,” Yao Honglang said. “And if you don’t want to answer, don’t lie to me.”
“Ask away.” To show he was serious, An Xiangdi declined Shen Xiao’s incoming call without hesitation.
Yao Honglang was pleased with that. “First question: why did you hide the fact you’re an Omega?”
“Because of Royal Entertainment’s requirements.” An Xiangdi had rushed into the entertainment industry and, to avoid complications, marked himself as a Beta on his application. Royal later asked him to sell a “mysterious Alpha” persona, so he went along with it and signed a confidentiality agreement.
Only the people who originally brought him into the company knew. Li Guan, who was assigned later, never suspected his gender.
Yao Honglang frowned, not entirely convinced about Royal. He made a mental note to review their contract. “Second question: Did Shen Xiao know you were an Omega from the start?”
“We grew up together.” But Shen Xiao hadn’t known about his pheromone issues. He just assumed An Xiangdi used blockers suitable for unmarked Alphas. An Xiangdi had always been careful never to reveal that he couldn’t smell others’ pheromones.
“Third, have you considered that once this is out, you’ll lose fans who trusted you?”
That one gave An Xiangdi pause. Just when Yao Honglang thought he wouldn’t answer, he spoke: “Yes, I’ve thought about it. But my gender is what it is—I can’t change that. What I can change is my work. I’m willing to win them back with better and better performances.”
Yao Honglang stared at him for a long moment before offering his plan. “About the trending topic—don’t respond. Let the hype die down naturally.”
It was already a confirmed truth. Denying it would only cause more trouble. But there was no need to admit it immediately either. Waiting until Faded Seasons wraps to go public would give the audience time to process and also help the drama’s promo.
“Okay.” An Xiangdi agreed. He didn’t have a better plan anyway.
“Stay focused on filming. I’ll be here during this time.” Yao Honglang was done letting An Xiangdi “free range.”
“Yao-ge, I need a word with Xiao Gu.” An Xiangdi glanced at his assistant, who had shrunk into a quiet corner.
“Five minutes.” Yao Honglang left, shutting the door behind him.
“…Mr. An, I’m sorry.” Alone again, Xiao Gu bowed his head.
“Why are you apologizing? It’s not like you did it.” An Xiangdi was sure Xiao Gu wasn’t the one. “Since you’re on forced leave, just enjoy the break. Aren’t you about to graduate? Make the most of it—you won’t get the chance once you’re busy later.”
“…Okay.” Xiao Gu realized that maybe this was for the best. Once his name was cleared, he’d repay An Xiangdi’s kindness properly.
Shen Xiao called for the fourth time. Xiao Gu quietly slipped out.
“Hello?” An Xiangdi picked up, tossing a sour jujube into his mouth.
“I saw the trending topic. What’s your plan?” Shen Xiao asked, phone in one hand and a pen in the other as he signed off on a new team proposal.
“Yao Honglang told me to neither confirm nor deny—basically, play dumb.” An Xiangdi shrugged.
“Any idea who took those GIFs?”
“Nope. But Xiao Gu’s been suspended. No one left to bring me jujubes and yangmei now,” An Xiangdi said regretfully, eyeing the half-eaten bag on his desk.
“I’ll bring you some.” Shen Xiao smiled faintly. He’d get to the bottom of this. “But… should we go home for a bit? Our parents probably already know.”
An Xiangdi blinked at the reminder.
“…Crap.”
