After Getting Pregnant, I Fought for a Divorce from My Alpha - Chapter 31
Chapter 31
“Dad, stop seeing me off. The car is right at the gate,” An Xiangdi said, pointing to the car parked just outside the compound.
His dad insisted on accompanying him step by step, talking three sentences for every step, his face filled with reluctance.
“When are you coming back next time?” An Hongxian had just turned fifty, showing no signs of aging. As a typical Beta male, he possessed a complete and mature masculine charm. However, his current reluctant look towards An Xiangdi was truly image-breaking.
Ding Mei was already used to her husband’s behavior and didn’t bother to scold him. “An An, let me know before you come back next time. This time’s preparation was too hasty; I didn’t get a chance to have a good talk with you.”
“Mom, I know.” An Xiangdi looked at his father again, helplessly giving him a hug. “Dad, that’s enough, stop here. Go back. No more seeing me off.”
Only then did An Hongxian stop, standing in place with a look of utter loss.
After getting into the car, An Xiangdi waved again through the car window. Only then did Shen Xiao start the car and drive away.
An Xiangdi was sitting in the back seat, organizing the local specialties from Yaohai that his dad had packed for him. Suddenly, at the bottom of a bag, he found a strange black box.
Opening the box, inside was a letter and two boxes of… condoms.
Having a premonition, An Xiangdi frowned and unfolded the letter. Sure enough, it was his dad’s handwriting.
Skimming through it quickly, An Xiangdi sighed silently.
Shen Xiao noticed his helpless expression in the rear-view mirror and asked, “What did Dad do?”
An Xiangdi thought: See, even Shen Xiao knows it must be his dad who did something.
“Wrote me a letter, telling me he’s very happy to have a grandson, but that giving birth will be very hard. So, we must use condoms for s3x from now on, and it’s best not to have a second child.” An Xiangdi tossed the letter onto the passenger seat.
Shen Xiao glanced at it while waiting at a red light, a mix of amusement and frustration on his face.
The second child plan was completely dashed.
An Xiangdi pouted, tearing open the condom box. “They’re strawberry flavored. My dad has unique taste.”
Shen Xiao curved his lips. “We’ll work hard to use them up when we get back.”
An Xiangdi was about to agree, but the thought of Dr. Qiao’s warnings and his private doctor’s previous words instantly made him hesitant. “I… don’t dream about it in broad daylight.”
Closer to noon, the two drove back to Zongming City. Yao Honglang called An Xiangdi.
“The crew has changed hotels. Don’t go to the wrong one. I’ll send you the new hotel address.”
“Huh? Why change hotels for no reason?” An Xiangdi found it inexplicable.
“It was randomly selected for a safety inspection and is inconvenient for accommodation.” Yao Honglang’s excuse was particularly smooth. In fact, he had already informed the film crew and was deliberately timing the notification to An Xiangdi.
“…Oh.” An Xiangdi was suspicious and reported the new address to Shen Xiao.
Shen Xiao feigned confusion. “Changed hotels? This one seems closer to the filming location.”
“The investor is so generous. This hotel is much more expensive than the previous one.” Although the previous hotel was also five-star, it couldn’t be compared to this new one.
Shen Xiao didn’t comment, turning the car in the direction of the new hotel.
After the two arrived at the hotel, before they could even unpack, Wang Xingxiu called them to the hotel conference room.
“I believe all of you teachers know why I’ve called you here.” Wang Xingxiu sat at the front. “Regarding the incident that occurred a few days ago on the set, I’d like to offer a brief explanation here. Non-crew personnel infiltrated the set, not only leaking the physical condition of the cast members but also attempting to destroy the efforts of everyone in the crew through retaliatory means.”
“But I have always believed that a good crew will not be easily defeated. Now, this person has been brought to justice. I also hope that all of you teachers will adjust your status and peacefully invest yourselves in filming starting tomorrow.” After Wang Xingxiu finished, he quickly scanned the people sitting below, and soon received applause led by the staff.
In fact, this script was arranged quickly by Yao Honglang and Shen Xiao after discussion over the past few days. The entire crew had been informed and the story was unified: the perpetrator was an outsider who disliked the crew, and the goal was to ruin the show.
An Xiangdi found it strange. After returning to the room, he noticed that the things he had left at the previous hotel had been moved over intact. Even the steel pen used for recording was plugged into the pen holder and placed on the bedside table, with nothing seeming amiss.
Two knocks sounded, interrupting An Xiangdi’s thoughts.
Shen Xiao, who was near the door, opened it. Outside stood Xiao Gu.
“Dizi, your assistant is here.” Shen Xiao stepped aside, allowing Xiao Gu to enter the room.
“Mr. An, I’m back.” Xiao Gu smiled genuinely happily. He had not only caught up with his classmates at school but had also been cleared of suspicion. Now he could be An Xiangdi’s assistant again with peace of mind.
“You look fatter?” An Xiangdi joked.
Xiao Gu touched his face. He had only been back at school for a few days; how could he have gotten fat?
“…Really?”
An Xiangdi didn’t reply, and Xiao Gu realized he was being played. “Mr. An, I went back and finished my academic work. I will officially graduate after a few days when I return to school to receive my graduation certificate and take graduation photos.”
“Mm.”
“My classmates… kept asking me if the news about your pregnancy was true. I didn’t say a word. I didn’t even agree when they asked for your autograph.” The matter of being suspected by Yao Honglang was still vivid, and Xiao Gu held up his hand to promise.
An Xiangdi, without a word, pulled out a few blank sheets of paper from the drawer, quickly signing his name on them. “Here you go, a gift for meeting, for your classmates. Thank them for their liking.”
Xiao Gu was pleasantly surprised. “Thank you, Mr. An! I’ll arrange for express delivery to send them over this afternoon!”
“Give them to me.” Shen Xiao reached out, taking the signed papers from Xiao Gu’s hand and signing his own name next to An Xiangdi’s. “You’re welcome.”
“His classmates didn’t say they liked you. You’re so thick-skinned,” An Xiangdi teased him playfully.
Shen Xiao put his hands in his pockets. “Buy one, get one free. Sales promotion.”
The next day, the crew of Faded Season resumed filming.
Ying Chong’s chin, which had been punched by Wei Yi, healed surprisingly fast, with no visible swelling remaining. The Alpha’s superior physical condition came in handy in this situation.
However, to allow everyone to adjust their state, Wang Xingxiu did not resume filming from the point where the accident occurred last time. Instead, he skipped that part and chose some relatively light-hearted scenes later in the script.
Several main actors went through their parts in turns. The filming was quite relaxed, and although the staff were busy, everyone seemed to be in good spirits. It was clear that the events of the past few days were completely over.
After filming his scenes, An Xiangdi returned to the rest room to eat something and incidentally looked through the personal clothes he had worn today.
He had felt something was wrong when he came back yesterday, and a close inspection of his clothes today further confirmed his suspicions.
These were not his clothes. Although they looked identical, they were clearly brand new. It was likely that not only this piece of clothing but everything in the room had been replaced.
“Mr. An, Mr. Yao is calling for you.” Xiao Gu pushed open the door to the rest room.
“Okay.” An Xiangdi put down the clothes in his hand and followed Xiao Gu out of the rest room.
Yao Honglang was looking through something on a tablet. After An Xiangdi walked over, he turned the screen towards him. “There’s an offer for a new show. See if you’re interested.”
“…The Omega Empress who ruins the country?” An Xiangdi was puzzled. What kind of strange setting was this?
“Yes. Once your pregnancy starts showing, you definitely can’t take on ordinary roles. I’ve read the script. Although it’s melodramatic, it’s relatively easy to film, and the script is quite topical. If it gets popular, it could be a hit.” Yao Honglang usually looked serious, but he would occasionally let his artists take on projects that were highly debated.
“I don’t want to film it…” An Xiangdi disliked the script just by looking at it. An Omega Empress who was pregnant and a fool, ruining the country with her beauty. It sounded like a fox spirit.
“Then I’ll talk to Shen Xiao later and ask him to find another partner.” Yao Honglang didn’t try to persuade him, dropping the comment casually and turning to leave.
“Wait! Shen Xiao is going to act in it?” An Xiangdi looked at Shen Xiao, who was talking on the phone in the corner of the set. “He’s going to act in this kind of melodramatic show?”
“Yes, and he’s playing the Emperor who is infatuated with the country-ruining Omega.” Yao Honglang said. “If you look down on this show, I’ll turn it down. There are a lot of kissing and intimate scenes. It’s indeed not suitable.”
“I’ll act in it.” An Xiangdi gritted his teeth and agreed.
“Oh.” Yao Honglang was not at all surprised by the outcome. “Then I’ll call the production team back.”
An Xiangdi let out a long breath, intending to put the matter aside for now. He said seemingly unintentionally, “Xiao Gu, help me call the makeup artist who used to do my makeup often.”
“That person has been arrested, you…” Xiao Gu suddenly covered his mouth mid-sentence.
Oh no, I let it slip.
An Xiangdi heard the satisfactory answer, curved his lips into a smile, and lightly patted Xiao Gu’s shoulder. “I’m not paying you for nothing.”
Xiao Gu watched helplessly as An Xiangdi walked toward Shen Xiao, looking like he was about to negotiate, and stomped his foot in confusion.
“Shen Xiao, come here.” An Xiangdi raised his hand, unceremoniously grabbing Shen Xiao’s collar and leading him out of the set.
“What’s wrong?” An Xiangdi’s domineering manner was very alluring. Shen Xiao took his hand. “Did Yao Honglang tell you about the new show?”
“He did.” An Xiangdi didn’t look back until he led the person to the corner outside the set. Only then did he turn around. “You and Yao Honglang moved my things, didn’t you? All the clothes and accessories in the room have been replaced with new ones, right?”
An Xiangdi didn’t know how Shen Xiao managed to find everything in just a few days, but the only thing he was certain of was that this person did it.
Shen Xiao had expected that his arrangements would be exposed, as An Xiangdi was so clever. He just didn’t expect to be found out in less than a day.
“The makeup artist before stole my ring and might have been to my room, right?” Since all his clothes were replaced with new ones, and the hotel was also changed, something must have been captured on video that night, but Shen Xiao must have dealt with all of it. An Xiangdi could roughly deduce the reason. “Is she my sasaeng fan?”
“Dizi, this matter is over.” Shen Xiao frowned, not wanting An Xiangdi to imagine what exactly happened.
“Shen Xiao, I’m glad you helped me handle this, but I’m not a pet canary raised at home.” An Xiangdi tugged on Shen Xiao’s collar, pulling the person down until their lips were almost touching the other’s thin lips. “And I’m certainly not a country-ruining, foolish Omega.”
“…I’m sorry.” Shen Xiao smelled the sweet pheromones on An Xiangdi. He truly loved and hated it, wishing he could literally lock this person up at home. “If you don’t want to do that show, we’ll turn it down.”
“No, I’m going to act in it.” An Xiangdi’s beautiful peach-blossom eyes now hid a fierce emotion. “If you don’t have intimate scenes with me, who are you going to have them with?”
