After Going on a Blind Date With My Omega Love Rival (ABO, GL) - Chapter 10
Chapter 10
Du Ruo flew to join Old Yu the next day. Before boarding, she called Yu Heyi, urging her to take care of herself and eat well…
Yu Heyi, engrossed in a game, replied halfheartedly, “Got it, I know. Stay safe and call me when you land.”
Du Ruo didn’t catch her distracted tone, adding, “I hope I’ll have a grandchild when I’m back.”
Yu Heyi’s gaming hand shook, her mouth twitching, “I think it’s more likely I’ll have a sister.” Last night, she’d thought a Yu He’er might not be bad—Du and Old Yu were too focused on her.
But her words set Du Ruo off, “Brat, trying to kill me? I’m this old—how dare you joke like that?”
Hearing Du Ruo’s fury, Yu Heyi quit her game, soothing her, “Mommy, you’re not even fifty. Over forty-five is high-risk, but you’re barely over. Why not?”
Grinning, she teased, “Unless Old Yu’s the problem?”
Du Ruo exploded, cursing and threatening to tattle to Old Yu that her daughter said he was incapable.
At Old Yu’s mention, Yu Heyi shivered, picturing his stern face, and quickly cooed, “Just kidding, Mommy…”
Du Ruo huffed and hung up. Yu Heyi pouted, then went back to gaming.
With Mommy gone, Yu Heyi let loose. After a week of lazing in her apartment, she got bored.
She slept in daily, ordered takeout, gamed, and played with her limited-edition racecar models in the spare room.
Oh, and Du Ruo, with Old Yu, started flaunting their love… shoving dog food in her face.
Daily, they sent new photos, ignoring her single status. She replied a couple times, then stopped. Du Ruo, maybe bored, stopped sending them.
After days of drifting, one late night, Yu Heyi suddenly thought of Chi Ruixi…
Though the peach pheromone was long gone, the apartment clean as if Chi Ruixi had never been there, Yu Heyi knew she had. They’d spent seven days here, tangled together for seven days.
The more she thought, the clearer Chi Ruixi’s image became—her tear mole, bitten lips, and… so much more.
Yu Heyi felt poisoned—by Chi Ruixi.
Omegas were trouble. With little experience, Yu Heyi thought her first time was just memorable, even if it was with someone she kinda disliked.
But first times stick with you.
She consoled herself it was only that, not some other reason.
On the ninth day, she opened her chat with Chi Ruixi. The last messages were from before the blind date, where she’d sweetly called her “sister.”
Seeing “sister,” Yu Heyi wondered why Chi Ruixi was two years older. She’d started school a year early, so classmates were a year older, but Chi Ruixi was two.
Then she shrugged—maybe Chi Ruixi started a year late.
…But that thought soured her mood. Why care when Chi Ruixi started school? What did it matter?
Yu Heyi decided to go out. She was moldering at home and needed a change.
Tying a simple ponytail, she went out bare-faced, planning to hit the supermarket for ingredients to cook.
At the garage, she realized she forgot her car keys. Too lazy to go back, and since the supermarket was close, she walked.
Twenty minutes later, she reached the nearest store and froze at the entrance—too many people…
Checking her phone, she saw it was Sunday. No wonder. Inside, it was worse, with a loudspeaker blaring, “Half off, half off…”
Yu Heyi wanted to bolt, but turning around, she caught a familiar pheromone…
Peach…
Chi Ruixi…
The crowd was thick. Turning, she saw Chi Ruixi, clearly pushed by someone behind, stumble into her arms. Before her brain caught up, her body instinctively held Chi Ruixi.
Looking down at Chi Ruixi’s slightly flushed face, she felt… awkward.
She quickly let go, and the slim figure was pushed again…
The pusher was a male alpha. Yu Heyi’s face darkened. She grabbed Chi Ruixi’s waist, pulling her close.
Sure, it was crowded, but not that crowded. That alpha was up to no good.
“Hey! Watch it.” She shoved him without courtesy. The male alpha turned, saw Chi Ruixi in Yu Heyi’s arms, and looked guilty.
He’d wanted to cop a feel, not expecting her alpha to be there…
He slunk off.
Chi Ruixi, in Yu Heyi’s arms, ignored the male alpha, her focus on Yu Heyi. Tilting her head, she saw Yu Heyi’s furrowed brow.
She couldn’t help thinking, becoming an Omega was pretty great.
But the embrace didn’t last. Yu Heyi let go.
“You’re an Omega. Be careful when you’re out.”
Chi Ruixi nodded obediently. Yu Heyi didn’t know what to say. She’d meant to scold her, but seeing her so compliant…
She recalled holding her—pure reflex, not intentional…
Her hands moved faster than her brain at that familiar pheromone—twice!
Mortifying. She wasn’t some pheromone-driven alpha.
Then Chi Ruixi saw the alpha’s face redden, stammering, “I bought my stuff. I’m leaving.”
Chi Ruixi blinked, eyeing her. She hadn’t bought anything.
“I’m going,” Yu Heyi repeated, then left under Chi Ruixi’s gaze.
Empty-handed.
Outside, Yu Heyi felt like an idiot. Lying—and so badly? Her hands were empty; what had she bought?
Fuming, she kicked a trash can, then looked up—and saw Chi Ruixi again.
Her face flushed, she pursed her lips awkwardly, then stormed off, neck stiff.
Chi Ruixi found her antics amusing, eyes crinkling. Yu Heyi was kinda cute…
So cute, yet always acting tough.
Such a tsundere.
Humiliated repeatedly before her ex-rival, now with their unclear relationship, Yu Heyi was livid. She’d planned a nice dinner, but forgot her keys, then ran into Chi Ruixi.
Now she couldn’t do anything. So unlucky—did Chi Ruixi have a curse?
Everything bad involved her: her crush liked her, her blind date was her, even kicking a trash can was seen by her.
And she still lingered on that hug.
Argh!!!
Yu Heyi stopped at a ramen shop for a quick meal. After ordering, she stewed, growing unhappier. She called Jiang Qi, abroad.
Before Jiang Qi spoke, Yu Heyi roared, “Do Omegas really affect alphas that much?”
Jiang Qi, clueless, had no such experience.
“I don’t know.”
Then, as if realizing something, she asked, “Heyi, what’s up with you and an Omega? The blind date?”
Yu Heyi froze. She wasn’t ready to tell anyone her date was Chi Ruixi, or that they’d spent a heat together.
Or that, even after, she kept thinking of Chi Ruixi’s sweet scent.
She was going nuts.
“Don’t worry about it. Just tell me, do Omega pheromones really affect alphas that much?”
Jiang Qi, also inexperienced, thought about ABO biology, hesitating, “Seems like they do, yeah.”
Yu Heyi nearly lost it. Was she doomed to be haunted by Chi Ruixi forever?
After eating, she wandered aimlessly, mind full of Chi Ruixi.
As a novice alpha, misled by another clueless alpha, she fell into a misconception.
Their ABO knowledge was dog-level.
Temporary marks weren’t that influential.
Yu Heyi had known better, but Jiang Qi’s words threw her off.
Irritated, she strolled near her building, then searched online about temporary marks.
She’d forgotten school lessons, and Jiang Qi’s words made her fear Chi Ruixi’s influence was permanent.
Finding the truth, she sighed in relief.
AO marks were temporary or permanent. Temporary marks felt like permanent ones at first, with strong alpha pheromones that faded over time, vanishing by the Omega’s next heat.
Permanent marks left the alpha’s pheromone on the Omega forever, blending their scents subtly, noticeable only as a marked Omega.
And they were hard to remove.
Yu Heyi scoffed at her unreliable friend.
Knowing Chi Ruixi’s influence wasn’t that strong cheered her up.
After wandering, she went upstairs. Exiting the elevator, she heard a door. Reflexively, she glanced at her place—only she and her moms knew the code. So… the empty apartment across from hers had a tenant?
Looking over, she saw a back, and it… looked like Chi Ruixi’s.
Damn! She was losing it!
Her briefly improved mood tanked.
What the hell? Wasn’t the influence supposed to be minor? Why did she think that was Chi Ruixi?
Chi Ruixi, living across from her?
Insane.
