After Going on a Blind Date With My Omega Love Rival (ABO, GL) - Chapter 12
Chapter 12
Besides the panic, there was a hint of regret.
Why did she call out to her for no reason?
What did it matter to her who Chi Ruixi was chatting with?
But… the thought of Chi Ruixi talking with another alpha made her teeth ache. What could she do?
The more she thought about it, the worse the ache got. Yu Heyi covered her face, staring at the two people standing not far away.
From a distance, Yu Heyi couldn’t see their expressions clearly, but Chi Ruixi moved, and the alpha behind her followed.
As they got closer, Yu Heyi saw clearly. The alpha was very young, probably in her early twenties, likely just out of college. Chi Ruixi with a young alpha—just looking at them made Yu Heyi’s teeth ache even more.
The closer they got, the more obvious the young alpha’s hostility became. She even released a faint pomegranate-scented pheromone, which made Yu Heyi forget her toothache for a moment.
Out of alpha instinct, she released her own pheromone.
This was tough on Chi Ruixi. Caught between two alphas releasing pheromones, her legs felt weak. Both alphas noticed something was wrong with Chi Ruixi and simultaneously withdrew their pheromones.
Chi Ruixi, unsteady, stumbled. Yu Heyi reacted quickly, stepping toward her, but she wasn’t faster than the alpha who was just a step behind Chi Ruixi.
Seeing Chi Ruixi caught in the other alpha’s arms, Yu Heyi’s teeth ached even more. Her eyes locked onto Chi Ruixi, held in the alpha’s embrace.
She kept moving toward Chi Ruixi, her mind consumed with one thought: that was her omega.
But before she could reach Chi Ruixi, Chi Ruixi broke free from the alpha’s hold.
The embrace made Chi Ruixi uncomfortable. The moment the alpha’s arms wrapped around her waist, she felt repelled, both emotionally and physically. She didn’t want to be held by this alpha behind her. She didn’t like the scent.
It didn’t belong to her.
So she immediately left the uncomfortable embrace, only to be enveloped by the scent of oolong tea. Her body and mind instantly felt at ease.
She liked Yu Heyi’s pheromone and her embrace.
But Yu Heyi only held her for a moment before letting go of her waist, switching to resting a hand on her shoulder. This left Chi Ruixi feeling a pang of disappointment.
She didn’t show it, though, and instead gently pushed Yu Heyi’s arm away.
“Let go~” Chi Ruixi’s voice was soft, and Yu Heyi obediently released her.
But after letting go, she felt reluctant.
Their small interactions were clearly seen by the alpha behind them. Chi Ruixi seemed shy as she gently pushed Yu Heyi away, her expression much softer than when the young alpha had held her.
The young alpha’s face showed a hint of unwillingness. This made Yu Heyi, who was still savoring the sweet scent on Chi Ruixi, feel a bit smug. She knew clearly that although her scent on Chi Ruixi had faded, it was still there. When she released her pheromone earlier, the young alpha must have realized it belonged to her.
Her omega, Chi Ruixi.
But sadly, it was only a temporary mark.
Ugh, no, what was there to be sad about? Shocked by her own terrifying thoughts, Yu Heyi lost her earlier pride and felt a bit annoyed. This scary alpha-omega dynamic—would she always be so fixated on Chi Ruixi?
Just thinking about it made her teeth ache.
The slight sourness in her heart was gone. Now her teeth were genuinely hurting.
The pain was so bad that Yu Heyi didn’t want to focus on the two people in front of her.
“This is Teacher Zheng,” Chi Ruixi said, introducing the young alpha to Yu Heyi.
But Yu Heyi’s pain was too intense. Covering her face, she glanced up at the person across from her.
Hearing Chi Ruixi introduce her, the young alpha quickly adjusted her expression, as if nothing had happened, and greeted Yu Heyi warmly. “I’m Zheng Qin, the PE teacher at Xijing High School. Are you a friend of Teacher Chi?”
Yu Heyi, in too much pain to care, didn’t know what kind of relationship she had with Chi Ruixi anyway. But since the alpha greeted her, she couldn’t ignore her. “I’m Yu Heyi.”
After that, Yu Heyi wanted to leave. She regretted getting involved. Whether those two looked compatible had nothing to do with her.
“Uh… you guys talk. I have to go.”
As Yu Heyi left, Zheng Qin waved at her, while Chi Ruixi kept staring at Yu Heyi’s covered face.
From a distance, Chi Ruixi had noticed Yu Heyi holding her face but didn’t know why. Now she realized Yu Heyi might have a toothache.
“Teacher Zheng, I have something to do too. I’ll go now.”
Zheng Qin, who had been a bit pleased when Yu Heyi left, now looked disappointed.
“Oh, okay. Go ahead, Teacher Chi.”
Today, Zheng Qin had run into Chi Ruixi by chance and used a flimsy excuse to keep her there. She didn’t expect Yu Heyi to show up after just a few words.
When Zheng Qin first came to Xijing High School, she fell for Chi Ruixi at first sight. But Teacher Chi, while kind to students, was polite and distant with others.
She seemed approachable, but her words always carried a sense of distance. Yet, when Zheng Qin noticed the other alpha’s pheromone on Chi Ruixi, she felt this person was different.
Teacher Chi wasn’t distant with her. Though she didn’t do anything overt, she still felt intimate.
After leaving the school, Yu Heyi went straight to a pharmacy. Her toothache was severe, and she needed painkillers.
At the pharmacy, after describing her symptoms, the clerk suggested anti-inflammatory drugs, saying she was likely growing a wisdom tooth.
Wisdom teeth usually come in during the teens, and Yu Heyi had thought she might never get them. But at 28, they were finally appearing. They say the older you are, the more painful wisdom teeth are.
Yu Heyi believed it—her pain was so bad she was almost in tears.
After obediently buying the anti-inflammatory drugs, Yu Heyi headed home. Her place was close to Xijing High School, less than a half-hour walk. Passing a supermarket, she hesitated but didn’t go in.
Her toothache was too intense to eat anything. She’d order a bowl of porridge at home.
Unbeknownst to Yu Heyi, Chi Ruixi had been following her. She watched Yu Heyi enter the pharmacy, pause at the supermarket, and then kept following her.
After Yu Heyi entered her building, Chi Ruixi waited outside for a bit before going in and pressing the button for the seventh floor, just like Yu Heyi.
Chi Ruixi had only moved here a few days ago. After leaving Yu Heyi’s place that day, she felt the neighborhood was familiar. Then she remembered that when she first came to Xijing High School, her family had bought her an apartment here—right across from Yu Heyi’s.
She hadn’t lived here before. High school teaching was demanding, and staying in the school dorms was convenient. But after visiting Yu Heyi’s place, she changed her mind.
She wasn’t afraid of Yu Heyi knowing she lived across the hall, but she felt a bit guilty, so she avoided her. She left early in the morning and returned later than Yu Heyi, making it easy to avoid her.
But after living there for nearly half a month, Chi Ruixi was finally discovered by Yu Heyi today.
When Yu Heyi got home, she ordered takeout. The app said it would take half an hour, so she took a shower and planned to lie in bed, watch a show, and sip her porridge.
Coincidentally, the takeout arrived early, and the delivery guy knocked on the wrong door—Chi Ruixi’s.
Chi Ruixi, usually busy and rarely cooking at home, often ordered takeout. When the delivery guy knocked, she assumed her order had arrived early and opened the door.
“I called you several times. Why didn’t you pick up?” The delivery guy looked annoyed, complaining that Chi Ruixi’s unanswered calls delayed him.
Chi Ruixi was about to say she hadn’t received any calls when the delivery guy’s phone rang again. Then Yu Heyi’s door opened.
Chi Ruixi blinked at Yu Heyi, who had just showered. Usually, Yu Heyi wore a ponytail, so this was the first time Chi Ruixi saw her with her hair down. Fresh from the shower, wearing a long T-shirt, Yu Heyi’s hair was loose.
Alphas typically didn’t have the soft features of omegas, but Yu Heyi now gave Chi Ruixi a sense of subtle softness.
Compared to her usual bold and spirited look, she had a touch of femininity.
Chi Ruixi stared at Yu Heyi, stunned. Yu Heyi, seeing Chi Ruixi lived across the hall, was equally stunned.
The takeout arrived faster than usual, and Yu Heyi hadn’t heard her phone while showering. When she saw several missed calls, she knew the delivery had arrived and rushed to open the door.
She saw the delivery guy handing her takeout to Chi Ruixi.
Chi Ruixi…
How was she living across the hall?
Both of them were stunned, but the delivery guy wasn’t. When Yu Heyi opened her door, he realized he’d made a mistake and hurried over, saying, “Why don’t you pick up when you order takeout?” He shoved the takeout into her arms.
The porridge was hot, and Yu Heyi snapped out of it, apologizing to the delivery guy. “Oh, sorry, I didn’t hear it earlier.”
The delivery guy ignored her, rushing to his next order.
As he took the elevator, Yu Heyi and Chi Ruixi were left staring at each other in the hallway.
Yu Heyi felt she should say something, or it would be even more awkward.
“Uh… you…”
Before she could finish, Chi Ruixi’s door slammed shut with a bang.
Yu Heyi frowned, muttering, “What’s her problem?”
“How is Chi Ruixi living across from me?”
Pouting, Yu Heyi hugged her takeout and went inside.
Behind her closed door, Chi Ruixi’s face was flushed, her heart racing, as if a long-held secret had been exposed. Luckily, she’d shut the door quickly. If Yu Heyi had asked, she wouldn’t have known how to explain living across from her.
