After Going on a Blind Date With My Omega Love Rival (ABO, GL) - Chapter 13
Chapter 13
Yu Heyi was shocked that Chi Ruixi was her neighbor, but she wouldn’t ask about it. Asking would make it seem like she cared too much.
But… Yu Heyi did care. Sitting on the sofa, frowning, she wondered why Chi Ruixi was her neighbor.
Why did a simple blind date lead to so many complications?
Why was Chi Ruixi everywhere? She was like a haunting ghost.
The most annoying thing was that Yu Heyi felt she was becoming abnormal because of Chi Ruixi.
The more she thought about it, the more abnormal she felt, and the worse her toothache got.
She decided to buy painkillers tomorrow. Although the anti-inflammatory drugs were appropriate, the pain persisted. Even her favorite century egg and lean pork porridge tasted bland. After eating half, Yu Heyi went to bed.
But she couldn’t sleep again. Yu Heyi thought it was the toothache keeping her awake, but why did her mind keep replaying that hug with Chi Ruixi from today?
After a week, she’d smelled peach for two days straight.
Chi Ruixi’s waist… so soft.
So nice to touch.
Yu Heyi felt ridiculously strange. Before those seven days, just hearing Chi Ruixi’s name made her want to beat her up. Now, she kept thinking about Chi Ruixi’s sweet pheromone and soft body.
The more she thought, the more her face flushed and her heart raced.
But she still felt she disliked Chi Ruixi. Maybe… not that much.
And Chi Ruixi’s face, now so beautiful. If it weren’t for the same name, Yu Heyi wouldn’t have believed it was her. Back in school, Chi Ruixi was known as a top student. If she’d had this face then, her beauty and intelligence would’ve been equally famous.
But even if she was prettier now, Chi Ruixi wasn’t cute at all.
Just a bit soft, that’s all.
Speaking of cute, Jingwan was the cute one.
Unable to sleep, Yu Heyi scrolled through Jingwan’s social media and chat history. The last message was from a week ago, the afternoon Chi Ruixi left her place.
Jingwan had sent her a wedding invitation, asking if she’d attend. Yu Heyi said she would. Though her confession to Jingwan years ago had failed, leaving her embarrassed, Jingwan treated her the same as always.
They weren’t close to begin with. At that age, everyone was newly differentiated. Yu Heyi and Jiang Qi differentiated as alphas back-to-back, and soon after, Jingwan differentiated as an omega.
Curious about the opposite gender, Yu Heyi slowly got closer to Jingwan. Back then, Jingwan was already friends with Chi Ruixi.
At that time, Chi Ruixi was predicted to be a beta. The prediction wasn’t 100% accurate but was highly reliable, so everyone assumed she’d differentiate as a beta.
Right, Yu Heyi realized, back then Chi Ruixi was only predicted to be a beta. No one said she’d definitely be one.
“Such a small chance, and Chi Ruixi actually hit it,” Yu Heyi muttered, inexplicably opening Chi Ruixi’s WeChat.
She hadn’t deleted Chi Ruixi’s contact or their chat history.
She’d even found Chi Ruixi’s WeChat in the class group, though she’d never paid attention to her.
It wasn’t that she ignored Chi Ruixi specifically. Among her high school classmates, she only kept in touch with Jiang Qi. Jiang Qi had dragged her into the group despite her reluctance, worried about running into Jingwan. But once she was in, it felt awkward to leave.
She never spoke in the group. Jiang Qi would chat occasionally—she got along with everyone and could talk to anyone. Unlike Yu Heyi, who only paid attention to people or things that interested her.
Naturally, she didn’t know Chi Ruixi’s WeChat.
Chi Ruixi didn’t even have a nickname in the group and never spoke, so Yu Heyi had no way of knowing.
Her WeChat was still open to her chat with Chi Ruixi. Lying on her bed, feet swinging, Yu Heyi thought, since Chi Ruixi and Jingwan were so close, she’d probably attend Jingwan’s wedding, right?
She hadn’t expected things with Chi Ruixi to turn out like this—stuck in a dilemma.
Move forward? Chi Ruixi said she didn’t need it. Step back? Her heart felt uneasy.
Forget it, sleep.
Done thinking, Yu Heyi pulled up the covers to sleep. She had to get up early tomorrow.
At 7 a.m., Chi Ruixi left her apartment on time. She’d slept later than usual but her years-long biological clock woke her at 6 a.m. She got up, ate a simple breakfast, and headed out.
She wore the same professional outfit as yesterday. She had many similar outfits, all mature and stylish. With her slightly wavy hair, she looked sophisticated yet sensual, but her big, bright eyes added a touch of innocence.
Waiting for the elevator, Chi Ruixi kept staring at Yu Heyi’s door, her lips curling into a smile. She only stopped smiling when the elevator arrived, glancing at Yu Heyi’s door one last time as she stepped inside.
Chi Ruixi was inexplicably in a good mood, smiling as she drove. But when she parked her little Mini in the teacher’s parking lot, she saw Zheng Qin.
Zheng Qin had just gotten out of her car. Unlike Chi Ruixi’s cute Mini, the tall alpha drove an SUV that matched her. As Zheng Qin approached, Chi Ruixi couldn’t help comparing her to Yu Heyi.
Yu Heyi was a bit over 1.7 meters, a standard height for female alphas. Some alphas were shorter, around Chi Ruixi’s height, while others, like Zheng Qin, were nearly 1.8 meters or just over.
Chi Ruixi didn’t like ones that tall. She liked the feeling of slightly looking up to meet Yu Heyi’s eyes. Zheng Qin wasn’t her type at all. Her aesthetic was Yu Heyi’s spirited, cute alpha look.
Unlike Zheng Qin, who, without her long hair, barely looked like a female alpha. It wasn’t that she was unattractive—just too aggressive.
Compared to her, Yu Heyi was way cuter.
In short, her aesthetic was Yu Heyi.
“Teacher Chi, what a coincidence?” Zheng Qin smiled, walking up to Chi Ruixi and naturally falling into step with her. As colleagues, Chi Ruixi couldn’t be too dismissive. Though Zheng Qin’s intentions were clear, she’d never said it outright, so Chi Ruixi couldn’t say much. She just nodded with a slight smile and kept walking.
Zheng Qin didn’t mind and followed, asking random questions.
“Teacher Chi, have you eaten breakfast? I brought some.”
“I’ve eaten.” Unlike Zheng Qin’s eager tone, Chi Ruixi’s was much colder.
Zheng Qin was used to her aloofness. Though Chi Ruixi seemed gentle, Zheng Qin felt she was stubborn at her core.
She wasn’t discouraged. From the moment she saw Chi Ruixi, she was set on her. Seeing Yu Heyi yesterday had been a shock, almost making her think Yu Heyi was Chi Ruixi’s alpha. But then she realized the oolong tea scent on Chi Ruixi was faint. She only noticed it because Yu Heyi had released her pheromone.
It was just a trace.
At most, it was a temporary mark. She didn’t care.
She didn’t care about Chi Ruixi’s distant attitude.
She just liked her.
Zheng Qin, only 24 this year, was full of energy. Seeing Chi Ruixi walk faster, she hopped along to catch up. She didn’t even need to chase—two quick steps would do—but maybe because she was young, she often acted childish.
Chi Ruixi noticed her behavior and thought, even with these antics, she wasn’t that cute.
Even a bit annoying.
So clingy.
Unaware that she was bothering Chi Ruixi, Zheng Qin spoke again. “Teacher Chi, let’s have lunch together?”
Without thinking, Chi Ruixi refused. “No, I’m eating with Teacher Cheng at noon.”
“Oh, then can I join you?”
At that, Chi Ruixi stopped and turned to look at her.
Zheng Qin, caught off guard by her gaze, scratched her head, about to speak when Chi Ruixi said, “I’ll ask Teacher Cheng.”
Chi Ruixi turned back to wonder why Zheng Qin was so persistent. She’d silently rejected her countless times, even bringing up Teacher Cheng.
But Zheng Qin acted like she didn’t get it. As colleagues, Chi Ruixi couldn’t be too harsh.
Her good mood was ruined by Zheng Qin, and it affected the students in Class 3, Grade 2. They were on edge during her class.
Teacher Chi’s face wasn’t happy from the moment she entered the classroom. Having seen her strict side, the students barely dared to speak…
They only relaxed when class ended.
“Class dismissed.” During lessons, Chi Ruixi’s voice was firmer than usual. At first, she didn’t understand. She used to speak softly, having just graduated from college, only a few years older than these high school kids.
But her quiet nature meant her anger wasn’t obvious, and the students pushed her further. Over time, she learned not to be too gentle with rebellious teens. If you’re soft, they’re tough. If you’re tough, they’re soft.
As she reached the classroom door, Chi Ruixi stepped back and said to a short, cute girl, “Zhan Yuan, remember to collect yesterday’s test papers.”
The girl nodded obediently. “Okay, Teacher Chi.”
Chi Ruixi taught Chinese, and Zhan Yuan was her class representative.
As Chi Ruixi left, Zhan Yuan turned to the girl behind her. “Your aunt doesn’t seem in a good mood today.”
The girl at the desk looked up. She had eyes similar to Chi Ruixi’s, though not as large, but still pretty.
The girl, Chi Ying, was Chi Ruixi’s niece.
“When is my aunt ever in a good mood?”
Zhan Yuan thought about it. Teacher Chi rarely seemed happy.
“But she’s not often in a bad mood either.”
“You’re right. My aunt doesn’t have much of a temper.”
Growing up, Chi Ying rarely saw her aunt angry. She was always gentle.
Except with her mother, Chi Shengxi, and her grandmother.
Chi Ruixi’s class was the third period. When she returned to the office, she saw Zheng Qin chatting with Teacher Cheng. Teacher Cheng, a few years older and an omega, had gotten married last year. They got along well.
Teacher Cheng was nice and warm, though sometimes her enthusiasm left Chi Ruixi unsure how to respond.
Like now. Seeing Chi Ruixi enter, she smiled. “Ruixi, class over?”
Chi Ruixi was kind to people she didn’t dislike. She smiled back at Teacher Cheng. “Yeah, class is over.”
Zheng Qin also smiled and called out, “Teacher Chi.” But for someone she slightly disliked, Chi Ruixi only nodded.
She hadn’t disliked Zheng Qin before, but yesterday’s hug felt uncomfortable no matter how she thought about it. Plus… she worried Yu Heyi might think she and Zheng Qin were involved.
But her worry was unnecessary.
Yu Heyi hadn’t thought that far. She’d spent the whole night tormented by her toothache, barely sleeping, and even arrived late today.
Late on her second day of work, Yu Heyi wasn’t scolded by the manager but by the fierce-looking alpha from yesterday.
“Pampered little miss, don’t come here to suffer.”
His sarcastic tone made Yu Heyi want to punch him.
But knowing she was wrong for being late, she stayed quiet and went to chop vegetables.
Her tooth still hurt.
She hadn’t had time to buy painkillers. Chopping vegetables while enduring the pain, she honestly preferred serving food over this.
But today, serving food made her unhappy.
She saw Chi Ruixi, Zheng Qin, and an unfamiliar female teacher come in, talking and laughing together.
The sourness she’d ignored yesterday because of her toothache surged back.
From a distance, Chi Ruixi saw Yu Heyi’s busy figure, amplifying her unease. She’d slammed the door and left yesterday, and today she was with Zheng Qin.
She wondered what Yu Heyi would think.
Zheng Qin saw her too, a flash of surprise in her eyes turning to disdain.
Yesterday, she was an aggressive alpha. Today, just a cafeteria server.
Teacher Cheng, unaware of their thoughts, was hungry and eagerly checked the dishes, handing her tray to Yu Heyi.
Asking for this and that.
Yu Heyi had a good impression of her and served her with a smile.
When she saw Zheng Qin next, her face darkened. Her bad mood didn’t affect Zheng Qin, who smiled and greeted her.
“Didn’t expect you to work here.” Though Zheng Qin hid it well, Yu Heyi caught a hint of mockery.
Yu Heyi didn’t stoop to her level. Just a kid.
She served her food and smiled.
When it was Chi Ruixi’s turn, Yu Heyi’s smile visibly faded. She didn’t even realize her expression looked like a sulky child.
Chi Ruixi, initially nervous, found her adorable.
When serving, Yu Heyi usually asked what dishes people wanted. Today, she didn’t ask, and Chi Ruixi didn’t say, just pointed at two dishes.
Yu Heyi served what she pointed at, expressionless, then handed her the tray with a sulky face.
Taking the tray, Chi Ruixi said nothing and turned to leave.
Sure enough, Chi Ruixi was annoying. Yesterday, she acted like she didn’t care for that alpha, and today they were eating together.
Yu Heyi’s anger flared.
But as Chi Ruixi turned away, she smiled, finding Yu Heyi’s expression cute.
And… Zheng Qin seemed useful.
At least because of her, she got to see Yu Heyi’s adorable side.
