After Going on a Blind Date With My Omega Love Rival (ABO, GL) - Chapter 15
Chapter 15
Chi Ruixi followed Yu Heyi into the elevator. Worried that Yu Heyi might still be angry, she stood silently beside her. Yu Heyi’s face had been grim ever since they left the office. It wasn’t until they got into the car that Yu Heyi said to her, “You’re an Omega now. You need to learn to protect yourself.”
Chi Ruixi nodded and didn’t say anything more. She obediently followed Yu Heyi the whole way, the corners of her mouth slightly upturned, as if the unpleasantness in the office had never happened.
All she knew was that Yu Heyi had shown up and protected her.
Although hitting people was wrong, Yu Heyi had looked so cool earlier, just like back then.
But now, she noticed a slight redness at the corner of Yu Heyi’s mouth. Her heart ached as she looked at her, and even her pretty eyebrows furrowed.
“Does it hurt?”
Yu Heyi was lost in thought, wondering how to explain to Chi Ruixi that she hadn’t acted out of impulsive heroism for a beauty, even though it totally seemed that way. She didn’t hear Chi Ruixi’s words until Chi Ruixi’s slightly cool hand touched the corner of her mouth.
“Hiss… it hurts a lot.”
It wasn’t until the pain hit that Yu Heyi realized the middle-aged alpha had landed a few blows on her face while struggling earlier.
“Does it hurt a lot?” Chi Ruixi looked up, her eyes filled with concern, and Yu Heyi suddenly felt a tingly, fuzzy sensation in her heart.
Something felt off.
This feeling made Yu Heyi uneasy. Chi Ruixi was supposed to be someone she disliked, so why had she stepped in to help? Why did a single look from Chi Ruixi make her feel… strange?
No way. She couldn’t let Chi Ruixi sway her. She had just been… doing the right thing.
Yu Heyi stayed silent, and Chi Ruixi thought she was in serious pain. But when the elevator stopped, she heard Yu Heyi say stiffly, “It doesn’t hurt.”
Without even glancing at Chi Ruixi, Yu Heyi stepped out of the elevator. Chi Ruixi followed her, taking a couple of steps toward her, but Yu Heyi opened her door and went home.
Chi Ruixi lowered her eyes, feeling a bit down. She stared at Yu Heyi’s closed door for a moment before walking to her own apartment across the hall.
Normally, the first thing Chi Ruixi did when she got home was change clothes and shower, but today she changed and went straight to the kitchen.
Then she rinsed rice and started cooking porridge.
Yu Heyi had been having tooth pain lately, so she probably couldn’t eat much else. Soft, fragrant porridge would be perfect.
After slamming her door shut, Yu Heyi finally let out a breath.
She felt like Chi Ruixi had put some kind of spell on her. Clearly… she was such an annoying person, so why was her heart racing just because of one look from her?
She wasn’t clueless about what this meant, but the other person was Chi Ruixi. No matter how she thought about it, it felt awkward.
This was someone she’d disliked for over a decade. The more Yu Heyi thought about it, the more irritated she got.
Yu Heyi took a shower, but during it, her mind replayed Chi Ruixi’s concerned look in the elevator. She already thought Chi Ruixi’s eyes were beautiful, and that obvious concern made them even more so.
And that concern was for her, which made her overthink…
Was Chi Ruixi also affected by AO pheromones?
And why had Chi Ruixi suddenly become her neighbor? Before, she’d only felt their relationship was a bit awkward, so she hadn’t cared much about Chi Ruixi moving in next door.
But today, just because someone said a couple of things, she’d beaten them up.
She’d actually fought someone because of Chi Ruixi.
If that wasn’t love, what was?
But something still felt wrong. Her feelings for Jingwan were what love was supposed to be like. With Chi Ruixi… they’d known each other before. If she was going to like her, wouldn’t it have happened already? Why would it take an incident like this?
Convinced she was just influenced by AO pheromones, Yu Heyi completely overlooked the fact that Chi Ruixi’s old bookworm image hadn’t exactly screamed attractiveness.
After all, falling for someone she’d hated for years? Yu Heyi felt like strangling both herself and Chi Ruixi.
Doing the right thing, doing the right thing—she was just doing the right thing.
Yu Heyi kept repeating this to herself.
After about a hundred mental repetitions, it worked.
Then Yu Heyi cheerfully went to the guest room to admire her limited-edition car models.
After tinkering for nearly an hour, her mom, Lady Du, who was abroad, sent a video call request.
“Wahhh, Heyi, come pick up Mommy and bring her back home.”
“What’s wrong, Mommy?” The call connected to Lady Du’s teary voice, and Yu Heyi felt a headache coming on. She couldn’t even see Old Yu in the video.
“Your mom cheated!” Lady Du’s eyes glistened with tears as she complained to Yu Heyi about Old Yu.
But this was 200% unbelievable.
It was probably just her mommy being dramatic again.
“Wah, Heyi, I wanted to kiss your mom, and she dodged me.” Lady Du wiped her tears as she spoke. Yu Heyi saw Old Yu in the background starting to fidget.
Inch by inch, Old Yu moved behind Lady Du, gently wrapping her arms around her shoulders from behind. But as soon as she touched her, Lady Du shrugged her off.
Seeing this, Yu Heyi had a feeling she was about to be fed a big dose of PDA.
So, she chose to stay silent.
“Honey, I just hadn’t brushed my teeth earlier…”
It wasn’t the first time, but seeing Old Yu, a tall and imposing alpha, act like a total simp in front of her wife still made Yu Heyi cringe.
“Mom, Mommy, if you guys don’t have anything else, I’m going to bed.”
Lady Du, who’d just woken up, realized it was evening where Yu Heyi was. But wasn’t it a bit early for bed?
“Heyi, you’re going to bed this early? Don’t you want to chat with Mommy…” Mid-sentence, Lady Du’s eyes zeroed in on Yu Heyi’s mouth.
“Did you get in a fight?” Her tone was a bit worried.
Yu Heyi was about to retort when the alpha next to Lady Du suddenly looked at her seriously, no trace of the earlier wife-pleasing demeanor.
Old Yu frowned, her tone stern. “What happened?”
“I was doing the right thing.”
“Some alpha was being rude to an Omega.”
If it was any other reason for fighting, Old Yu would’ve scolded her, saying she wasn’t a kid anymore and shouldn’t fight like she used to.
Old Yu used to say that a lot. Now, she only said it occasionally.
“Even if it’s to help someone, fighting isn’t always the answer.” When Yu Heyi was little, she got into fights all the time, and Old Yu had lectured her countless times. But now that she was grown and had her own principles and reasons, Old Yu didn’t say much, just offered some gentle advice.
Knowing Old Yu wasn’t mad, Yu Heyi grinned讨好ly. “Okay, I know my limits. I’ll be a good girl.”
Old Yu shot her a look. She knew all too well her daughter had never been a good girl.
Seeing Old Yu glare at her daughter, Lady Du wasn’t having it. She smacked Old Yu’s shoulder, annoyed. “Why so serious? Heyi’s grown up. She knows what she should and shouldn’t do. And look, her mouth’s all red.”
Lady Du didn’t like these kinds of talks. She just wanted to check on Yu Heyi’s injury. She never cared much about the reasons, but she wasn’t happy with Old Yu’s attitude.
“Put some ointment on it.”
“Okay, Mommy.”
Yu Heyi’s obedient reply clearly pleased Lady Du. As long as Yu Heyi was sweet, Lady Du couldn’t stay mad. Plus, with Old Yu feeling guilty, she doubled down on coaxing her wife.
Watching her mom’s pathetic display, Yu Heyi couldn’t help but think that if she ever had an Omega, she’d never be such a whipped pushover.
As they were chatting lively, Yu Heyi heard a few soft knocks on the door.
“Mom, Mommy, someone’s at the door. Gotta go.”
Before opening it, Yu Heyi had a hunch it might be Chi Ruixi.
But when she saw Chi Ruixi standing there in pajamas, she was still a bit stunned…
Her figure was just too perfect, wasn’t it?
Chi Ruixi was wearing a wine-red robe, with a slightly low-cut slip dress underneath… Since she was a bit taller, Yu Heyi could clearly see the deep, endless curve…
“I made you some porridge. Didn’t you have tooth pain the past couple of days?”
Seeing the amazement in Yu Heyi’s eyes, Chi Ruixi felt she’d made the right choice changing into this pajama before coming over.
Yu Heyi’s face was red from the stunning sight, but then she heard Chi Ruixi’s words.
She thought… her tooth did kind of hurt.
