After Going on a Blind Date With My Omega Love Rival (ABO, GL) - Chapter 22
Chapter 22
The wedding ceremony ended quickly. Jingwan and the groom came over to toast, with Chi Ruixi following behind.
Up close, Yu Heyi noticed how stunning Chi Ruixi’s dress was, perfectly suited to her, making her skin look even fairer.
Yu Heyi’s gaze on Chi Ruixi was intense, and Cui Nan, beside her, noticed with a mischievous grin.
Leaning in, Cui Nan whispered, “Told you Chi Ruixi got gorgeous, huh? You’re totally smitten!”
Yu Heyi snapped her gaze back, glaring at Cui Nan, but her eyes still drifted to Chi Ruixi unintentionally.
Did Chi Ruixi notice her staring?
Probably not, since Chi Ruixi wasn’t even looking at her.
This thought left Yu Heyi a bit disappointed. Even if they weren’t in that kind of relationship, she felt she should mean something special to Chi Ruixi.
In truth, Chi Ruixi had noticed Yu Heyi’s burning stare, so intense it felt like it could scorch her.
But given their current dynamic, Chi Ruixi didn’t want Yu Heyi to know that being stared at made her shy.
So she acted aloof.
Both had eyes only for each other, completely missing Jingwan, who was holding a wine glass and observing their behavior.
Chi Ruixi was thin-skinned—the more she seemed indifferent, the more she probably cared.
So Jingwan pulled Chi Ruixi along and toasted Yu Heyi first.
“Heyi, long time no see! Still as stunning as ever.” Jingwan was always a sweet-talker, though she hadn’t said such things to Yu Heyi since her confession.
But times had changed.
Yu Heyi smiled, clinked glasses with Jingwan, then grinned at the alpha beside her. “Happy marriage! Wishing you a baby soon!”
She handed Jingwan a red envelope. “From me and Jiang Qi.”
Jingwan thanked her with a smile and moved on to toast others.
Watching Jingwan, Yu Heyi felt an odd sensation. For years, she thought she’d dread facing Jingwan, but at her wedding, she felt no discomfort at all.
Instead… seeing Chi Ruixi behind Jingwan stirred strange feelings in her.
What hurt more was that Chi Ruixi didn’t even glance at her, just followed Jingwan away.
Since their table was full of classmates, Jingwan and Chi Ruixi came over together at the end. Jingwan’s husband was ditched to hang with his own friends.
“Come on, let’s have another drink!” Jingwan was a mood-maker, and as soon as she arrived, everyone started drinking.
Yu Heyi could drink but didn’t love it. Still, it was a joyous occasion, so she complied, though her eyes kept flicking to Chi Ruixi.
She didn’t know how much Chi Ruixi could handle.
Chi Ruixi sat across from Yu Heyi, with Jingwan between them. Yu Heyi’s gaze passed Jingwan, watching Chi Ruixi sip her wine slowly, not downing it.
Yu Heyi’s glances weren’t obvious, but Jingwan was too close to miss them.
Looks like both of them had feelings for each other.
Jingwan’s eyes gleamed, and she grabbed Yu Heyi’s wrist. “Oh, when’s Jiang Qi coming back?”
Yu Heyi shook her head. “Not sure yet, no set date.”
She subtly pulled her wrist free. Cui Nan chimed in, “You’re closest to Jiang Qi, and you don’t know?”
Yu Heyi turned to answer, missing Chi Ruixi’s subtle relief at her gesture.
Jingwan joined the chat, suggesting a class reunion when Jiang Qi returned. Everyone at the table nodded eagerly.
The conversation took off, but Yu Heyi wasn’t into it. Her focus was on Chi Ruixi, who sat quietly beside Jingwan, not drinking anymore.
Just sitting.
Until Cui Nan brought up Yu Heyi’s pursuit of Jingwan. Yu Heyi hadn’t reacted yet, but Chi Ruixi did—she looked up at Yu Heyi.
Cui Nan, loving the drama, nudged Yu Heyi’s shoulder. “Didn’t you write her a love letter?”
Yu Heyi stiffly turned to face her.
The one thing she feared came up.
That incident was so embarrassing she didn’t want to face Jingwan again. Why were they all treating it like gossip?
“My…” Yu Heyi started, wanting to say her love letter was tricked away by Chi Ruixi.
But mid-sentence, she snapped her head up to look at Chi Ruixi.
There was something in Chi Ruixi’s eyes she couldn’t read.
It seemed like…
“She did write me a love letter! And the writing was pretty good, haha.” Jingwan spoke up, pulling Yu Heyi’s attention from Chi Ruixi to her.
She missed the fleeting disappointment in Chi Ruixi’s eyes.
Jingwan kept talking about the love letter. It had been years, and Jingwan had no feelings for Yu Heyi then or now. She was just trying to provoke Chi Ruixi, sensing mutual interest.
Yu Heyi, meanwhile, kept glancing at Chi Ruixi, who had returned to normal, her eyes clear of that unreadable emotion.
But Yu Heyi couldn’t shake the feeling that Chi Ruixi had looked disappointed.
She wasn’t sure.
Her heart felt increasingly strange. Hearing Jingwan, she realized the love letter had reached Jingwan.
So, all those years, had she hated the wrong person?
They were nearly thirty now, and high school antics were just jokes. Plus, Yu Heyi’s later behavior didn’t scream lingering feelings for Jingwan.
But two people at the table knew it had been real back then.
As for now… it didn’t matter.
Yu Heyi soon got caught up in the lively chat, drinking more. Cui Nan, drunk, shifted the topic to Chi Ruixi.
“Ruixi, are you single now?” Cui Nan’s tongue was slurring. Without waiting for an answer, she backtracked. “No way, you’re so gorgeous, you can’t be single. Whoever’s with you is so lucky.”
Yu Heyi, a bit tipsy, sobered instantly at Cui Nan’s words. She glanced at Cui Nan, then at Chi Ruixi, and punched Cui Nan’s arm. “You were all formal earlier, and now you’re calling her Ruixi?”
She hadn’t even called her that!
Cui Nan, playful by nature, wasn’t mad at the hit. She mimicked Yu Heyi, hitting back.
But being drunk, her pheromones started leaking.
The coffee-scented pheromones grew stronger…
Yu Heyi, sober, warned her, “Rein it in.”
But Cui Nan didn’t register, thinking Yu Heyi meant her question about Chi Ruixi’s status. She brushed it off. “What’s wrong with asking?”
Then, recklessly, she asked Yu Heyi, “Hey, are you single?”
She was oblivious to her pheromones spilling out. Only a trace, but Yu Heyi, right beside her, could tell. The alpha pheromone smell was nauseating to her.
She elbowed Cui Nan again, growling, “Rein in your pheromones!”
Normally, an Omega not in heat might feel mild discomfort from alpha pheromones, but inhibitors keep it subtle.
But an Omega in heat is hypersensitive.
Yu Heyi looked at Chi Ruixi across from her, who seemed increasingly uneasy…
Especially when Cui Nan asked if she was single, Chi Ruixi’s glance came with red-rimmed eyes…
But Cui Nan, too drunk, couldn’t control her pheromones.
“Damn it, pull your pheromones back!” Yu Heyi, furious, hit Cui Nan hard. Cui Nan snapped out of it and quickly reined them in.
But it was a bit late. Chi Ruixi’s face was flushing, and Yu Heyi could faintly smell peach pheromones. Damn it, she glared at Cui Nan, then rushed to Chi Ruixi.
Chi Ruixi was feeling a burning heat. Seeing Yu Heyi approach, she bent down and picked her up. Chi Ruixi compliantly wrapped her arms around Yu Heyi’s shoulders.
Under everyone’s stunned gazes, Yu Heyi carried her out.
Before leaving, Yu Heyi told Jingwan, “She’s not feeling well. I’m taking her home.”
Jingwan, dazed, blinked and said, “Okay, take care of her.”
Yu Heyi nodded, her mind racing. Jingwan’s response felt odd—few people should know about her and Chi Ruixi.
But she had no time to think about that now.
In the familiar car, with the familiar person, Yu Heyi placed Chi Ruixi inside, and Chi Ruixi immediately clung to her.
Yu Heyi looked at her tenderly. “Hold on, we’ll go home.”
“No… here,” Chi Ruixi said, tears falling, pattering down.
It was like they dropped right into Yu Heyi’s heart. She pulled Chi Ruixi into her arms, kissing her forehead.
This made Chi Ruixi’s body feel worse.
Her heat was already near, and triggered by an alpha, this time it hit harder than ever.
The burning, unbearable heat made Chi Ruixi cry uncontrollably…
Her arms clung tightly to Yu Heyi’s neck, her cheek rubbing against Yu Heyi, seeking coolness.
“Hold on,” Yu Heyi repeated, but it made Chi Ruixi’s tears fall harder. She bit Yu Heyi’s face, growling, “If you can’t, I’ll find another alpha.”
Yu Heyi’s mind exploded. Chi Ruixi, like this… claimed by another alpha?
Zheng Qin? That kid?
Instantly, Yu Heyi’s pheromones surged, filling the car with oolong tea scent.
Chi Ruixi first matched her pheromones, then felt a sting at the back of her neck.
Tearfully, she looked at Yu Heyi.
That look pierced Yu Heyi’s heart.
No, no!
Chi Ruixi couldn’t belong to anyone else. Yu Heyi fiercely bit into Chi Ruixi’s soft gland.
Releasing her pheromones wildly, she felt Chi Ruixi’s peach scent joyfully responding.
“No, you can’t find another alpha,” Yu Heyi said, her words dripping with possessiveness. Chi Ruixi could only cling to her, unable to form a full sentence.
In the car again, she tasted Chi Ruixi once more.
Sweet, enchanting.
Yu Heyi craved Chi Ruixi’s tenderness.
Claiming her over and over.
In the end, she permanently marked Chi Ruixi.
