After Going on a Blind Date With My Omega Love Rival (ABO, GL) - Chapter 24
Chapter 24
Yu Heyi had always been a woman of action, doing things as soon as she decided.
She completely missed the triumphant expression on Chi Ruixi’s face and started rummaging through drawers and cabinets to find her household register.
She was going to get a marriage certificate.
She was going to get a marriage certificate with Chi Ruixi.
Yu Heyi made quite a racket while searching. Chi Ruixi just sat on the couch watching her. After a short while, Yu Heyi came out of the bedroom holding a pile of documents.
Slap
Yu Heyi slammed the household register on the coffee table, followed by her ID, property deed, and even her driver’s license.
“Let’s go get married.”
Compared to Yu Heyi’s frantic demeanor, Chi Ruixi was much calmer. She sat on the couch with her legs crossed, looking at Yu Heyi with… no particular expression.
Yu Heyi noticed she hadn’t said a word or made any move to get up.
“You don’t want to?”
“Are you still going to find another alpha?”
The thought made Yu Heyi suddenly want to explode. The Chi Ruixi in front of her was expressionless, nothing like the tender woman from before. Was Yu Heyi really that unsatisfactory to her?
Yu Heyi reached out and pulled Chi Ruixi up from the couch with some force. Chi Ruixi winced in pain and shook off Yu Heyi’s hand.
Yu Heyi, now pushed away, seemed very agitated.
“Go get your household register. We’re getting the certificate.”
Chi Ruixi rubbed her wrist, smiling faintly at Yu Heyi. “Marrying like this, you won’t regret it?”
Yu Heyi seemed not to understand what she was saying, staring wide-eyed. “Regret what? You’d better not regret it.”
“Then let’s go.” Chi Ruixi gave a gentle smile, picked up her bag, and walked past Yu Heyi toward the door.
Now Yu Heyi was the one feeling confused. Something felt off.
“Come on, regretting it?” Behind Yu Heyi’s back, where she couldn’t see, Chi Ruixi grinned slyly.
“Let’s go, let’s go! Who’s regretting?”
Watching Yu Heyi obediently follow her, Chi Ruixi sighed again. Yu Heyi was indeed a rebellious kid—provoke her a bit, and she’d charge forward without thinking.
At the door to Chi Ruixi’s place, Yu Heyi hesitated. It was her first time coming to Chi Ruixi’s home, though… she had peeked through the door crack before.
Chi Ruixi noticed Yu Heyi lingering at the entrance and stopped, turning to look at her.
Their eyes met, and Yu Heyi awkwardly turned her head away before stepping into Chi Ruixi’s home.
“Sit wherever. I’ll go grab my stuff.”
Yu Heyi nodded but didn’t sit. She stood in the living room waiting for Chi Ruixi.
Chi Ruixi was clearly much faster than her. In just a few minutes, she came out. Yu Heyi turned at the sound and noticed Chi Ruixi’s bag, now much fuller than before.
Yu Heyi relaxed. They could go get the certificate now.
But something still felt… off, like something wasn’t quite right.
Chi Ruixi led the way after that, driving her car. At the Civil Affairs Bureau, Chi Ruixi handled the inquiries while Yu Heyi followed her obediently.
Taking photos, submitting documents…
They left in the morning, and by the time they got the certificate, it was nearly noon.
Outside the bureau, Yu Heyi stood under the sun, staring at the marriage certificate in a daze.
Married?
I’m… married?
Yu Heyi finally understood what had been bothering her all morning.
How did she end up married to Chi Ruixi?
Chi Ruixi stood behind her, putting the marriage certificate in her bag before walking to Yu Heyi’s side.
“What’s wrong? Panicking?”
Could Yu Heyi admit she was panicking? Absolutely not!
She tucked the certificate behind her back, stiffening her neck. “Panic? Why would I panic? I’m an alpha. What do I have to panic about?”
“Oh, then let’s go.”
Yu Heyi asked blankly, “Go where?”
Chi Ruixi looked at her like she was an idiot. “To eat, obviously. I’m hungry.”
Now that she mentioned it, Yu Heyi realized she was hungry too. They hadn’t eaten anything since morning.
So she obediently followed Chi Ruixi.
She didn’t know if Chi Ruixi did it on purpose, but she chose the same barbecue restaurant where they’d had their blind date.
Yu Heyi paused at the entrance. Chi Ruixi stopped too, turning back. “What? Don’t want to eat?”
“No, I do.” She just felt strange, like Chi Ruixi was leading her by the nose the whole time.
But clearly, she was the one who brought up marriage.
The food came quickly. Yu Heyi looked at the table full of things she liked, and the weird feeling in her heart grew stronger.
Chi Ruixi actually remembered what she liked to eat?
She was lost in thought. Chi Ruixi, seeing her dazed look, found it amusing and wanted to tease her again.
“What’s wrong, don’t like it?”
Yu Heyi answered instinctively, “No.”
Chi Ruixi put some beef on the grill, flipping it as she said, “I ordered what I like. If you don’t like it, you can order something else.”
…Yu Heyi opened her mouth but didn’t speak.
She also picked up a piece of meat to grill.
She was feeling very frustrated now. Chi Ruixi liked almost the same things she did.
Didn’t that mean, at least in the future, they wouldn’t fight over food?
Thinking about the future, Yu Heyi felt it wasn’t so bad.
After all, Chi Ruixi was good-looking, and her personality… wasn’t bad either.
Her job was stable too.
No matter how you looked at it, she was a great marriage partner. Most importantly… that peach scent was really pleasant.
Maybe they were really hungry, because neither spoke during the meal, focused on eating the meat.
Yu Heyi already loved barbecue, and being starving, she quickly stopped thinking about those odd feelings. It wasn’t until she was full that she realized how quiet it had been between her and Chi Ruixi.
They’d just gotten married. Not saying anything felt wrong.
Yu Heyi took a sip of water, cleared her throat, and said, “Before… what I said was true. Last time too.”
Chi Ruixi was still eating, putting a piece of meat in her mouth and chewing slowly. Hearing Yu Heyi’s words, she glanced up, as if waiting for her to continue.
But Yu Heyi… got stuck. Chi Ruixi’s little mouth, puffed up from chewing, was kind of cute.
Chi Ruixi… was really kind of cute.
After finishing her meat, Chi Ruixi noticed Yu Heyi hadn’t continued. She looked up and saw her staring, coughed lightly, and a faint smile appeared on her lips.
It seemed she didn’t need to worry about there being no love between her and Yu Heyi.
Completely unaware she was being led along, Yu Heyi silently berated herself. What kind of Chi Ruixi hadn’t she seen? And yet, she was so captivated just watching her eat meat…
She was done for.
On the elevator, Yu Heyi’s mind started wandering. Normally, since they were married, shouldn’t they live together?
But…
How was she supposed to bring it up?
And earlier, at the restaurant, she hadn’t finished what she wanted to say. The atmosphere had been too weird.
They got off the elevator and went to their respective homes. Yu Heyi stood at her door, not opening it right away.
“Chi Ruixi…”
Chi Ruixi’s hand paused on her door, and she smiled faintly. She knew Yu Heyi would call her at this moment and say something awkward. Turning around, she waited for her to speak.
They were a few meters apart, but Yu Heyi still felt nervous… Would Chi Ruixi think she was a jerk?
“So, what I didn’t finish saying at the restaurant was…”
Yu Heyi paused before continuing, “Even though we’re married now, what I said before still stands.”
They didn’t really have any feelings for each other.
That was a fact.
After saying it, she worried Chi Ruixi would think she was a jerk and hurriedly added, “But I’m definitely a responsible person, don’t worry.”
Hearing her words, Chi Ruixi showed no expression, just saying lightly, “I understand.”
Her indifference made Yu Heyi very uncomfortable. Yu Heyi took two steps forward and said, “So… should we live together, maybe build some feelings?”
Ugh, what kind of jerk line was that?
Chi Ruixi still showed no expression, but out of Yu Heyi’s sight, she gripped her bag tightly, bit her lip lightly, and said coldly, “No need.”
No need… there it was again, no need.
Those words made Yu Heyi feel awful.
How many times had she said that today? Was it really that unnecessary?
Yu Heyi felt incredibly conflicted. The way she expressed herself and her reaction to hearing Chi Ruixi’s words were so different.
When the words came from her own mouth, she didn’t think much of them.
But when they came from Chi Ruixi’s mouth, she felt upset and unhappy.
She wanted to confront Chi Ruixi and ask what she meant.
If it was so unnecessary, why did she cling to her so dependently, act so…
So it wasn’t that unnecessary, right?
She wanted to ask Chi Ruixi, but when she looked up, there was no one there. Chi Ruixi had gone home.
She hadn’t even said goodbye, which left Yu Heyi feeling a bit lost.
It wasn’t that Chi Ruixi didn’t want to say goodbye, but her phone had rung.
It was Chi Shengxi.
So she didn’t talk to Yu Heyi and hurriedly went inside to answer the call.
“Hello, what’s up?” Chi Ruixi’s tone was a bit cold.
“Can’t I just call my sister?”
“Sis…”
“Old Madam Chi brought up your marriage again. I told her you’d decide for yourself, but she thinks the so-called alpha you mentioned is just a cover.”
Chi Ruixi had thought it was something else, but hearing this, she relaxed. She changed into slippers, sat on the couch, and talked to Chi Shengxi.
“If there’s any update, you’d better tell me.”
Chi Ruixi took the marriage certificate out of her bag, opened it, and touched the photo of her and Yu Heyi, a joyful smile on her face.
She interrupted Chi Shengxi, “Sis, I…”
She had wanted to tell Chi Shengxi she was married, but she was afraid Old Madam Chi would make a fuss if she found out.
“I’m with her now.” Better to put it this way for now.
Chi Shengxi paused for a moment, didn’t say much, just told her to bring her home for dinner sometime so she could see what she was like.
Chi Ruixi agreed halfheartedly, set her phone to speaker mode on the coffee table, and stared at the marriage certificate.
Chi Shengxi could tell she wasn’t in the mood to chat and hung up.
Looking at the photo of herself and Yu Heyi, Chi Ruixi smiled foolishly. She’d wanted to smile all day and had been holding it in.
No matter what, she and Yu Heyi were now legally married.
Even though that silly girl was awkward and prickly, there was no denying that Yu Heyi had her in her heart.
She clearly wanted to live together, but the words she said were so unlikable.
She really didn’t know when Yu Heyi would finally admit it.
If it took too long, she’d have to punish Yu Heyi severely.
