After Going on a Blind Date With My Omega Love Rival (ABO, GL) - Chapter 25
Chapter 25
Back home, Yu Heyi collapsed onto the bed and fell asleep. The past few days had left her severely sleep-deprived, and she was out within a minute of lying down.
But her sleep was far from restful. In her dreams, Chi Ruixi appeared with teary eyes, in all sorts of poses.
And that tear mole, kissed over and over again.
It was a deeply unsettling sleep.
Half-awake, she heard her phone ringing. Yu Heyi, still buried under the covers, fumbled around the bedside for a while before finding it.
Without even checking who it was, she answered.
“Hello…”
“Yu Heyi, you finally picked up!!!”
It was Jiang Qi. Her loud voice startled Yu Heyi, snapping her bleary eyes wide open.
Jiang Qi rambled on, “Do you know how many times I called you?”
“No idea.”
“Well, fair enough, I get it.” Jiang Qi’s tone sounded odd to Yu Heyi, almost teasing.
“What are you talking about…”
“Still playing dumb? The group chat’s been buzzing. At Jingwan’s wedding, you took Chi Ruixi away?”
“Uh…” Yu Heyi blinked hard, rubbed her eyes, and was jolted awake by Jiang Qi’s words…
“I heard about it and called you right away, but you haven’t picked up in forever. What’s going on, Heyi?”
Yu Heyi put the phone on speaker and leaned against the headboard. “Didn’t you already hear? What else do I need to say?”
“How the heck did you end up with Chi Ruixi?”
Jiang Qi was curious. She’d only been away for a few months, and her best friend had gotten tangled up with Chi Ruixi, maybe even… doing some indescribable things.
Yu Heyi rubbed her head, still feeling a bit dazed.
She’d slept with Chi Ruixi again, permanently marked her, and then got married.
No matter how she thought about it, it felt unreal.
But it was reality.
Taking a deep breath, she started from the beginning for Jiang Qi. “Didn’t I tell you I went on a blind date?”
Before she could finish, Jiang Qi burst out, “Holy crap, your blind date was Chi Ruixi?”
“Yeah, can you let me finish?”
“Fine, fine, go on.”
“When I saw her, I was shocked too. Isn’t Chi Ruixi a beta? How’d she suddenly turn into an Omega?”
“…” Jiang Qi stayed silent.
“Say something.”
“You’re the one with issues! Didn’t you tell me not to talk?” Jiang Qi sounded exasperated.
“Just answer.”
Jiang Qi sighed, a bit无奈. “I heard Jingwan mention once that Chi Ruixi differentiated into an Omega the year she graduated high school. But… it had nothing to do with me. You really disliked her back then, so I didn’t tell you. Later, I forgot about it.”
Fine, it wasn’t Jiang Qi’s fault. It’s not like she made Chi Ruixi differentiate into an Omega.
Yu Heyi continued, “That day at the blind date, Chi Ruixi suddenly went into heat, and I temporarily marked her. I mentioned that to you. Then later… ugh, I don’t know, somehow I ended up permanently marking her, and we got married.”
“What did you say?!”
“You got married?”
“Yu Heyi!!!!”
At the wedding of the Omega she used to like, she marked another Omega she used to hate and married her.
Yu Heyi was something else. Jiang Qi was impressed.
“You’re badass. Now Aunt Du can finally relax. Oh, have you told her yet?”
At that, Yu Heyi’s head drooped…
“Not yet… I don’t know how to tell her.”
Yu Heyi buried her face in the pillow, listening to Jiang Qi chatter endlessly on the other end.
“They say Chi Ruixi’s gotten really beautiful. You’re not losing out at all.”
“And didn’t you say before that you kinda liked her?”
Kinda… liked… Chi Ruixi?
Yu Heyi barely registered Jiang Qi’s words. Her mind was filled with Chi Ruixi’s soft figure, her pleasant voice, and that captivating tear mole.
Then… she swallowed hard under the covers.
She was craving her a bit.
She might actually like Chi Ruixi.
“Jiang Qi…”
Jiang Qi was still rambling, even talking about how many kids Yu Heyi and Chi Ruixi should have, when she heard Yu Heyi’s serious tone. She was caught off guard. “Huh? What?”
“I think… I might really like Chi Ruixi. I used to hate her so much.”
“Hey, people change. How old were you back then? Kids’ grudges don’t count.”
“If you think Chi Ruixi’s alright, then treat her well.”
Yu Heyi rolled over, a bit dejected. “But… I’m not even sure if Chi Ruixi likes me.”
“You’re an alpha. This is the time to take the lead, got it?”
“Aren’t you married? Are you living together?”
“No…”
“Then what are you waiting for? Don’t you like soft, sweet-smelling Omegas anymore?”
“Shut up already. I’ll figure it out.”
Yu Heyi hung up, too tired to keep talking to Jiang Qi. Her heart felt heavy.
She’d planned to catch up on sleep, but thanks to Jiang Qi, how was she supposed to?
It was past 7 p.m. now. She wondered if Chi Ruixi was also catching up on sleep or if she’d eaten.
Normally, Yu Heyi would’ve ordered takeout without a second thought. Today, she didn’t know what got into her, but by the time she snapped out of it, she was already in the kitchen cooking.
There were still some ingredients left from before. She made a pork rib soup and stir-fried a couple of vegetables.
When the food was done and set on the table, Yu Heyi started spacing out.
Should she go knock on Chi Ruixi’s door?
If she did, what would she say? “Come eat at my place?”
What if she got rejected?
Should she say, “We’re legally married now, so it’s normal for you to come eat at my place”?
She thought about it for 20 minutes, and the food was starting to cool…
Forget it, whatever. Checking in on her couldn’t hurt.
Yu Heyi got up, opened the door, and headed straight for Chi Ruixi’s place.
She was about to bang on the door but worried Chi Ruixi might think she was crude, so she switched to a gentle knock.
After knocking for a while with no response, Yu Heyi wondered if she’d been too soft. She knocked harder…
What Yu Heyi didn’t know was that Chi Ruixi was standing right by the door, watching her through the peephole.
She’d been watching for as long as Yu Heyi had been knocking.
Unsure of what Yu Heyi wanted, but seeing her anxious look, Chi Ruixi wasn’t in a hurry anymore.
So she stood there watching until Yu Heyi stopped. Chi Ruixi’s heart tensed.
Between her and Yu Heyi, she’d been the one to make moves before.
And she’d been rejected. So she couldn’t take the lead again.
If Yu Heyi knocked one more time, Chi Ruixi decided she’d open the door.
But after waiting a bit, she saw Yu Heyi leave.
Chi Ruixi lowered her eyes, a bit disappointed.
But just a few seconds later, she heard a sound. Yu Heyi had come back.
She started knocking again. This time, Chi Ruixi didn’t hold back and swung the door open.
She opened it with some force, and it was so sudden that Yu Heyi’s hand was still in mid-air.
The abrupt opening caught Yu Heyi off guard. There hadn’t been any sound of movement, and then Chi Ruixi just opened the door.
She’d thought Chi Ruixi was asleep and hadn’t heard, but after knocking so long, there’s no way Chi Ruixi didn’t hear. So she assumed Chi Ruixi just didn’t want to open the door.
She’d started heading home, but the more she thought about it, the less she could accept it. Why wouldn’t she open the door? They were married, weren’t they?
So Yu Heyi turned back.
The Chi Ruixi at the door was about what she’d expected. Though she was in pajamas, her eyes were clear, not at all like she’d just woken up. Yu Heyi had been unsure before, but now she was certain—Chi Ruixi hadn’t wanted to open the door.
Whatever. Yu Heyi was here to do what she came to do.
“Um… I made some food. Wanna eat?”
It was supposed to be a casual thing, but because Chi Ruixi hadn’t opened the door, Yu Heyi felt hesitant. Maybe Chi Ruixi was struggling too—an Omega suddenly permanently marked like that.
It must be troubling for her.
Chi Ruixi had no idea Yu Heyi was overthinking so much. She just wanted to mess with her a little, purely one-sided.
She wanted to keep her waiting, make her anxious.
“I’m… not really hungry.”
Yu Heyi thought, As expected.
She wasn’t the only one feeling frustrated, was she?
Though Chi Ruixi’s eyes were clear, the fatigue on her face was obvious. After all the chaos of the past few days, she probably wanted to rest.
Yu Heyi wanted to sleep too. If Jiang Qi hadn’t woken her, she’d still be out. So she suddenly felt a bit guilty.
Was it wrong to come knocking so rashly?
“I… just worried you might be hungry. I didn’t mean to disturb your rest.”
Hearing Yu Heyi’s words, Chi Ruixi was a bit confused. She was actually wide awake and not tired at all…
But seeing Yu Heyi lower her head, looking a bit wronged, was kind of amusing.
She was apologizing, yet she felt wronged herself.
Chi Ruixi thought she might be hopeless—everything about Yu Heyi looked good to her.
And she’d even cooked for her.
But…
Chi Ruixi leaned against the doorframe, looking at Yu Heyi. “But I’m really not that hungry.”
She wasn’t refusing. She genuinely wasn’t hungry. She’d just eaten a bowl of noodles. If she’d known Yu Heyi was going to cook, she definitely wouldn’t have eaten that.
“Then I… I’ll head back.”
Her rare initiative had been rejected. She didn’t know if Chi Ruixi was really not hungry or just didn’t want to eat with her.
Chi Ruixi had said twice that she didn’t need her to take responsibility.
Now it felt like Yu Heyi was the one shamelessly clinging to her.
Watching Yu Heyi walk away with her head down, Chi Ruixi felt a bit bad. Cooking was a hassle, wasn’t it? Yu Heyi was willing to cook for her, and rejecting her like this felt a bit cold, didn’t it?
“Is there soup?”
Chi Ruixi’s cool voice came from behind. Yu Heyi froze, turning to look at her.
Chi Ruixi blinked and asked again, “I said, is there soup? I’d like some.”
“There is, there is! Pork rib soup!” Yu Heyi smiled. The way Chi Ruixi had blinked just now was honestly a bit cute and playful.
Yu Heyi invited Chi Ruixi into her home, pulled out a chair for her, and served her a bowl of soup.
“Careful, it’s hot.”
She spoke a beat too late—Chi Ruixi had already taken a sip and burned herself.
Yu Heyi quickly handed her a glass of cold water. “Drink some water.”
“Why’re you suddenly being so nice to me?” Chi Ruixi couldn’t hold back, smiling as she asked.
But the next second, Yu Heyi’s response nearly infuriated her.
“Being good to my Omega is only natural.”
