After Going on a Blind Date With My Omega Love Rival (ABO, GL) - Chapter 27
Chapter 27
Just as Yu Heyi was dialing a second call, her phone rang first. Instinctively, she thought it might be Chi Ruixi, but when she looked, it was Li Li.
“Hey, Xiao Yu, you coming to work today? Should I save you some buns? Or maybe soy milk and fried dough sticks?”
…Yu Heyi, who had been feeling a bit down, perked up at Li Li’s words.
Right, it was Monday. Chi Ruixi had gone to work.
She’d completely lost track, forgetting it was Monday.
“No need… I’ve got something to do, I’ll be there a bit late.”
Li Li, whose call was hung up, was a bit confused. This wasn’t normal. Yu Heyi was usually the most enthusiastic about food.
Li Li mainly handled pastries, making breakfast every day, so she always saved a couple of buns for Yu Heyi, sometimes soy milk and fried dough sticks too.
Today was definitely unusual, but mornings were busy, and Li Li didn’t have time to dwell on it, so she went back to work.
After hanging up, Yu Heyi immediately washed up and got dressed. Since she was mainly responsible for lunch, her work hours were later than Li Li’s. Li Li started at 6:30 a.m., but Yu Heyi could start at 9 a.m.
Of course, their salaries were different.
But… she couldn’t be late. Her place wasn’t far from the school, but driving took about twenty minutes, assuming no traffic.
So, Yu Heyi rode her motorcycle to work today.
She dressed simply as usual: a white T-shirt and black skinny pants. She hopped onto the motorcycle swiftly, not even pausing at the gate, startling the gatekeeper. He shouted after her, “Slow down! I hadn’t even opened the gate, and you slipped through the gap.”
Yu Heyi was in a rush and didn’t slow down, just waving to the gatekeeper to signal she was fine.
She rarely rode her motorcycle in the city or to work, but today she was genuinely in a hurry. Driving would’ve made her late.
The motorcycle was fast and nimble. Yu Heyi sped to school at nearly full throttle, arriving in just about ten minutes. It was exactly 8:30 a.m. when she got there.
At the school, she didn’t head to the cafeteria. Instead, she parked at the teaching building, ran upstairs, and made a beeline for Chi Ruixi’s classroom.
Her urgency was all about checking if Chi Ruixi was at school, gege. She didn’t answer the phone.
She was uneasy and irritated until she saw Chi Ruixi teaching in Class 3 of Grade 2 through the classroom door.
And, as expected, she spotted Chi Ying.
Chi Ying naturally saw her too.
In fact, not just Chi Ying—the entire class, including Chi Ruixi, saw her.
Since she’d been running in a hurry, she was panting heavily at the classroom door.
All thirty-something students, plus Chi Ruixi, stared at her.
Yu Heyi felt incredibly awkward. She shifted her feet uncomfortably, intending to slip away as if nothing had happened.
But Chi Ruixi didn’t let her escape.
“Who are you? What’s the matter?”
Yu Heyi, who had hoped to pretend nothing happened, widened her eyes in disbelief. Who was she? What was the matter?
She wanted to ask the same thing. Who was this cold woman? If she didn’t look exactly like Chi Ruixi, Yu Heyi wouldn’t have believed it was her.
Though Chi Ruixi had been somewhat distant recently, she’d still been polite when speaking. But now, with this “strangers keep out” attitude, Yu Heyi felt an inexplicable panic.
She hadn’t been heartless, but Chi Ruixi had left the bed first?
Seeing her stunned look, Chi Ruixi’s lips curved slightly, nearly laughing, but then she restrained herself, her expression growing colder.
Her words were icy: “This parent, please don’t disrupt our class. If you have something to say, wait until after class.”
Parent?
Even if Yu Heyi was slow, she got it now. Chi Ruixi didn’t want to acknowledge their relationship at school and was denying their marriage.
The thought made Yu Heyi extremely annoyed.
How could Chi Ruixi do this?
Didn’t she say they’d try?
How was this trying?
Yu Heyi’s eyes were practically shooting flames. She wanted to march up and demand what Chi Ruixi was thinking. But meeting the students’ gazes, she pulled back the foot she’d started to step forward.
It was class time. Asking now wouldn’t be appropriate.
So, grudgingly, she muttered, “Teacher Chi, I’ll go now.”
After Yu Heyi left, Chi Ruixi showed no reaction, but Chi Ying, sitting below, burst out laughing, then quickly covered her mouth, glancing cautiously at Chi Ruixi.
Chi Ruixi was very different in class—stern and serious. Chi Ying was scared of her.
But Zhan Yuan, sitting behind her, wasn’t. She poked Chi Ying and whispered, “Who was that parent? You know them?”
Chi Ying glanced at Chi Ruixi, then whispered back, “I’ll tell you after class, or my aunt will eat me alive.”
She turned back, looking studious, not daring to look up at Chi Ruixi.
Yu Heyi’s visit disrupted Chi Ruixi’s teaching rhythm and the students’ focus. Checking the time, there were a few minutes left.
She called Zhan Yuan to pass out the test papers on her desk.
Handing the papers to Zhan Yuan, she saw Chi Ying smugly raise an eyebrow at her, just like when they were kids, flaunting some little secret.
Chi Ruixi smiled silently. She hadn’t meant to hide anything from Chi Ying, but the current Yu Heyi wasn’t what she wanted.
If you’ve never had something, you don’t crave more. Before, just seeing Yu Heyi was enough to make her happy, but now she really disliked what Yu Heyi said.
That as an alpha, she had to take care of her Omega.
Did it not matter who the Omega was?
And yesterday, she’d used her pheromones to overwhelm her, leaving her defenseless.
So, this morning, Chi Ruixi didn’t want to greet Yu Heyi after waking up. She got dressed, went home to shower, and came to work.
When Yu Heyi called just before class, she could’ve answered but chose not to.
She wanted to see how Yu Heyi would react to her coldness.
Would she be indifferent, or would she act as Chi Ruixi hoped?
Yu Heyi’s rushed appearance did please her. Though she said annoying things, she still hurried to see her.
This thought kept Chi Ruixi in a great mood all morning, even when Teacher Cheng mentioned that Zheng Qin wanted to eat with them. She didn’t think much of it.
But when Zheng Qin clung to her like a leech, she regretted calling Yu Heyi a parent earlier.
If she’d acknowledged her relationship with Yu Heyi, she probably wouldn’t be dealing with Zheng Qin’s pestering now.
“Teacher Chi, what do you want to eat? I’ll get an extra portion.”
Zheng Qin smiled at her, but Chi Ruixi’s attention wasn’t on her. She looked past Zheng Qin, watching Yu Heyi busily serving food.
Seeing her busy figure, Chi Ruixi’s lips curved.
Staring at Yu Heyi, she didn’t notice Zheng Qin’s gaze turning intensely heated.
“Teacher Chi, you look so pretty when you smile.”
Her words made Chi Ruixi stop smiling. She thanked her politely and went to find Teacher Cheng, who wasn’t far away.
She knew Teacher Cheng was trying to set her up with Zheng Qin, but she wasn’t interested.
Even without Yu Heyi, she wouldn’t like someone like Zheng Qin.
But it was tricky. Zheng Qin was attentive but hadn’t confessed, so Chi Ruixi couldn’t just say, “I don’t like you, stop bothering me,” could she?
Yet she also didn’t want to make her relationship with Yu Heyi public.
So she just ignored Zheng Qin and chatted with Teacher Cheng.
But to Yu Heyi, it looked different. She was swamped with work when an auntie nearby said, “Xiao Yu, look, Teacher Chi and Teacher Zheng are eating together again.”
She’d heard this from the auntie countless times before. Previously, her unclear relationship with Chi Ruixi had kept her frustration in check.
But today was different. Chi Ruixi had ignored her all morning, called her a parent in front of students, and now she was chatting with Zheng Qin, who was eagerly talking to her, and Chi Ruixi didn’t seem to mind.
She was furious, angrier than she’d been that morning.
Before, she couldn’t lash out. But now! Chi Ruixi was her Omega.
Even if Chi Ruixi didn’t necessarily like her, they were legally married!
When it was Chi Ruixi’s turn to get food, she faced an enraged Yu Heyi. Before she could process what was happening, Yu Heyi snapped, “What do you want to eat?”
Her furious demeanor made Chi Ruixi worry that one more glance would set Yu Heyi’s eyes ablaze.
Even the auntie nearby couldn’t stand it. “Xiao Yu, why so harsh with Teacher Chi?”
Then, smiling at Chi Ruixi, she said, “Come, Teacher Chi, what do you want? I’ll serve you.”
Chi Ruixi smiled at the auntie, about to hand over her tray, but before she could, Zheng Qin, who’d been behind her, rushed forward, pointing at Yu Heyi. “What was that attitude toward Teacher Chi just now?”
Yu Heyi didn’t even lift her eyelids, asking, “You getting food or not?”
Yu Heyi’s attitude provoked Zheng Qin. She wasn’t exactly mild-tempered but had restrained herself to pursue Chi Ruixi.
Being treated like this by a cafeteria worker was more than she could take.
She threw her tray at Yu Heyi, fuming, “Serve it, go on! What’s a cafeteria worker acting all high and mighty for?”
It was peak dining time, with plenty of students and teachers in the cafeteria. Zheng Qin, red-eyed with anger, knew a teacher acting like this could face discipline.
But she already disliked Yu Heyi, and seeing her snap at Chi Ruixi pushed her over the edge.
She wasn’t the only one at her limit. Yu Heyi was done too. Cafeteria worker?
Yu Heyi hurled Zheng Qin’s tray back and threw a punch at her face. Zheng Qin, caught off guard, hadn’t expected Yu Heyi to actually hit her.
Her eyes reddened with rage, pheromones surging, glaring daggers at Yu Heyi.
