After Going on a Blind Date With My Omega Love Rival (ABO, GL) - Chapter 30
Chapter 30
As Yu Heyi stepped out of the vice principal’s office, she got a call from Li Li, saying the manager had come to check on the situation and asked her to hurry back.
Thinking of the kind female beta manager, Yu Heyi didn’t hesitate and said, “Tell her to go ahead with her work. I’ll find her later. I’ve got something to do now.”
After hanging up, Yu Heyi headed toward Chi Ruixi’s office. She had questions for her. From what her uncle said, it seemed Chi Ruixi knew Yu Heyi was her blind date.
It’d be better to ask her in person. She thought about calling Chi Ruixi first to check if she was in the office, but then realized, with Chi Ruixi’s injury, how could she be teaching?
So, she quickened her pace toward Chi Ruixi’s office. As she climbed the stairs and turned the corner, she saw a figure that looked like Zheng Qin entering the office.
What was she doing here?
Seeing Zheng Qin, Yu Heyi’s anger flared up. Earlier, she’d been too focused on Chi Ruixi’s injury to properly deal with her.
Yu Heyi took three steps at a time to reach the door. Just as she was about to enter, she heard Zheng Qin apologizing to Chi Ruixi. She paused, then heard Chi Ruixi say, “It’s okay.”
It’s okay? Her leg was hurt like that, and it was okay?
Yu Heyi pushed the door open and glared at Zheng Qin, but her words were directed at Chi Ruixi.
“How is it okay? She hurt you like that, and you’re forgiving her?”
No one expected Yu Heyi to burst in. Chi Ruixi jumped, Zheng Qin flinched, and even Teacher Cheng, who was watching the drama unfold, startled and wanted to bolt.
This drama was getting too big for her to handle.
Grabbing a few books, she said to them, “I have a class. I’m leaving…”
With Teacher Cheng gone, only the three of them remained in the office. Zheng Qin dropped her pretense and looked at Yu Heyi with hostility.
It was her again—just a cafeteria worker, always meddling in her business with Teacher Chi.
“This is the teachers’ office. What’s a cafeteria worker doing here?”
Hearing Zheng Qin’s words, Yu Heyi smirked.
Bypassing Zheng Qin, she walked to Chi Ruixi’s side. She wanted to stake her claim, but Chi Ruixi was sitting, which threw off her plan.
She thought about pulling Chi Ruixi up, but seeing her injury, Yu Heyi changed her mind. She’d planned to wrap an arm around Chi Ruixi’s waist, but now… she could only rest her hand on Chi Ruixi’s shoulder.
Chi Ruixi tilted her head, watching Yu Heyi approach, about to ask what she was doing when Yu Heyi put an arm around her shoulder. Then she felt the strong presence of Yu Heyi’s pheromones.
…What was this about?
Zheng Qin’s eyes locked onto Yu Heyi’s hand on Chi Ruixi’s shoulder. Just as she opened her mouth, she felt a wave of hostile pheromones.
She had no choice but to release her own pheromones to counter it.
Sensing the two clashing pheromones, Chi Ruixi got a headache.
Though Yu Heyi had permanently marked her, making other alphas’ pheromones ineffective, that didn’t mean she couldn’t feel them.
The two sets of pheromones battled in the small office.
Before long, Zheng Qin started to falter.
Sweat dripped down her forehead, and her breathing grew rapid.
But even so, she didn’t back down, still resisting with her pheromones and even raising her fist.
Yu Heyi, on the other hand, was much more relaxed. She not only dodged Zheng Qin’s punch but also grabbed her wrist.
“That’s it?”
Then she shoved Zheng Qin back.
With a mocking tone, she said, “Calling me a cafeteria worker? What makes you so high and mighty?”
“An alpha like you? What omega would even look at you?”
“Dreaming of getting Chi Ruixi? Are you even worthy?”
Zheng Qin’s eyes turned red with anger, and she lunged at Yu Heyi again. Yu Heyi let go of Chi Ruixi’s shoulder, ready to fight back, but Chi Ruixi grabbed her, stood up, and snapped, “Enough!”
After saying this, she tightened her grip on Yu Heyi’s hand, shook her head at her, then turned to Zheng Qin and said, “Teacher Zheng, that’s enough.”
As Chi Ruixi spoke, Yu Heyi withdrew her pheromones.
Zheng Qin didn’t. She looked at their joined hands with a defeated expression, then pointed at them and said, “Teacher Chi… you like a cafeteria worker?”
Hearing “cafeteria worker” again, Yu Heyi clenched her fist, ready to snap back and tell her the entire cafeteria belonged to her family—she wasn’t just some worker.
But before she could speak, she felt a shift in Chi Ruixi’s aura. With a cold face, Chi Ruixi spoke without holding back.
“Teacher Zheng, please rein in your pheromones.”
“And who I like is my freedom. It’s none of your business.”
“As a teacher, you should watch your words. Stop saying ‘cafeteria worker’ like that.”
This was Chi Ruixi tearing into Zheng Qin. After hearing her, Zheng Qin’s face changed instantly.
Yu Heyi’s eyes sparkled with obvious delight, which made Zheng Qin feel even worse—her face practically turned green.
Yu Heyi raised an eyebrow, taking the lead. She turned the hand Chi Ruixi was holding, slipping her fingers between Chi Ruixi’s.
Their fingers interlocked.
She wanted to rile up this clueless jerk.
How dare she covet her omega? She must be tired of living.
Chi Ruixi felt the warmth in her hand, lowered her eyes, and said nothing.
To Zheng Qin, it looked like they were tightly holding hands, with Chi Ruixi acting shy. Unable to stand it, she fled in a hurry.
Seeing Zheng Qin run off, Yu Heyi was initially pleased, but the next second, the soft, smooth feeling in her hand was gone.
Chi Ruixi let go.
Yu Heyi pouted, a bit unhappy and… reluctant.
She thought Chi Ruixi was being stingy. They’d done everything already—what was wrong with holding hands now?
Little did she know, Chi Ruixi saw her pouting. Seeing Yu Heyi’s slightly aggrieved look, Chi Ruixi’s eyes twinkled with amusement, but she quickly hid it. She didn’t want Yu Heyi to notice.
Otherwise, this arrogant girl would get too full of herself.
Then, in a slightly cold tone, she said, “Why did you come to see me?”
The shift was so quick that Yu Heyi didn’t react at first. It took her a moment to remember why she was there.
“Well… I…” Chi Ruixi was blinking at her, and for a moment, Yu Heyi couldn’t bring herself to ask.
Chi Ruixi tilted her head, a bit puzzled.
Was Yu Heyi hesitating because she really had something important to say?
“Hurry up, I have a class soon.”
Yu Heyi glanced at her leg, shocked. “Your leg’s like that, and you’re still teaching?”
Chi Ruixi followed her gaze. Her leg was still badly red. She frowned, then looked at Yu Heyi. “I already took a week off, and other teachers covered for me. Should I take more leave for this little injury?”
Yu Heyi hadn’t expected her to say that and blinked.
Why did it sound like Chi Ruixi was blaming her?
She’d taken leave during her heat too, okay?
She didn’t understand why Chi Ruixi had changed so much lately. Before, she’d been so gentle.
Thinking of this, Yu Heyi’s original question came back. She wanted to ask.
“At the blind date, did you know it was me?”
Chi Ruixi froze for a moment, then returned to normal, picking up a book as if preparing for class.
“Yeah, I knew. So what?”
She seemed so nonchalant that Yu Heyi couldn’t ask the rest of her questions.
She’d thought Chi Ruixi came to the blind date knowing it was her, maybe because she had feelings for her before. But now, it didn’t seem like it.
What Yu Heyi didn’t know was that beneath Chi Ruixi’s calm exterior, her heart was racing. She busied herself with the book to hide her panic.
Of course, she went to the blind date knowing it was Yu Heyi.
But she couldn’t let Yu Heyi know that. She’d recently figured out how awkward Yu Heyi could be—she couldn’t let her get too proud.
She couldn’t let Yu Heyi know she’d liked her for a long time.
Yu Heyi thought for a while and decided to ask anyway. Otherwise, she’d feel uneasy.
“Knowing it was me, why did you still agree?”
Chi Ruixi’s hand paused on the book. She looked up at Yu Heyi, trying to act normal. After a long pause, she said, “You should ask your mom about that.”
With that, Chi Ruixi left for class.
The door slammed shut.
The sound startled Yu Heyi. Why did it feel like Chi Ruixi was angry?
Why’d she slam the door so hard?
After Chi Ruixi left, she took a deep breath, lingered in the hallway for a bit, then headed to the classroom.
Soon after, Yu Heyi left too. She called the cafeteria manager to discuss the fight. Knowing Yu Heyi’s background, the manager didn’t say much, just asked her to keep a low profile and not mind what others said.
Yu Heyi knew the older folks in the cafeteria would gossip, but she didn’t care.
What she cared about was how her dear mommy, Lady Du, got Chi Ruixi to agree to the blind date.
After talking to the manager, she called Lady Du, but Old Yu answered.
“What do you want with your mommy?”
Old Yu’s tone was clearly impatient, like she’d been interrupted doing something important.
Yu Heyi was in a bad mood and didn’t want to humor her.
“I have something to talk to Mommy about.”
There was some rustling, and Yu Heyi even heard her mommy’s overly sweet voice saying to Old Yu, “Wait a sec… Heyi must have something important…”
Yu Heyi shuddered, unable to help but mentally roast the two shameless old-timers.
“Heyi, what’s up with Mommy?”
Yu Heyi got straight to the point. “I want to ask about the blind date. You insisted Chi Ruixi go with me?”
And she’d acted like she didn’t even know who the other person was!
Lady Du hemmed and hawed. “It was your uncle, saying how great Teacher Chi was. Mommy got curious.”
“And then Chi Ruixi agreed to the blind date?”
Lady Du laughed. “Not at all. Teacher Chi refused at first. I had to say a lot of good things about you to get her to agree.”
Hearing this, Yu Heyi went silent, her mind racing. Teacher Chi refused at first? Damn, why’d she refuse? What was wrong with her?
Lady Du had no idea what her daughter was thinking and kept asking, “How are you two getting along now?”
Yu Heyi was fuming. She wanted to go find Chi Ruixi and ask what was so bad about her.
She said, “We’re married,” and hung up.
