After Going on a Blind Date With My Omega Love Rival (ABO, GL) - Chapter 31
Chapter 31
Looking at the phone Yu Heyi hung up, Lady Du froze for a moment, then let out a squeal. She turned, grabbed Old Yu’s arm excitedly, and said, “Old Yu, did you hear that? Heyi’s married!!!”
In her excitement, Lady Du gripped Old Yu’s arm a bit too hard. Old Yu frowned but didn’t say anything.
But Lady Du didn’t care. Her smooth body wriggled excitedly in Old Yu’s arms, bouncing up and down, making Old Yu a bit dizzy and her breathing a little rapid.
In her heart, Old Yu couldn’t help cursing Yu Heyi. Married? Fine, but why get her wife so worked up? Now she was filled with resentment.
“She’s almost thirty. She should’ve gotten married ages ago,” Old Yu said.
Lady Du, seemingly oblivious to the resentment in Old Yu’s tone, said in a charming voice, “Exactly because she’s almost thirty, that’s why I’m excited. When you were her age, she was already born.”
“Oh,” Old Yu responded coldly.
Lady Du wasn’t pleased. Pouting, she tried to pull away from Old Yu’s embrace, but Old Yu yanked her back and pressed her down hard, biting her lip with a hint of anger. “You know we finally got a chance…”
It wasn’t easy to get this moment, and Lady Du had made her hold back for so long.
Lady Du wanted to say something, but it all turned into whimpers…
After the call with Lady Du, Yu Heyi planned to find Chi Ruixi, but halfway there, she remembered Chi Ruixi was teaching.
Would going now disturb her?
…Better head back to work.
Back at the cafeteria, Yu Heyi noticed that, aside from Li Li and the auntie who often worked with her, everyone else was giving her odd looks.
Especially that male alpha chef who always scolded her.
When he saw Yu Heyi return, he said mockingly, “Oh, look, it’s Yu Heyi. Beat someone up and still get to come back?”
Yu Heyi glanced at him, not wanting to engage. She grabbed a rag and started working, but the guy wouldn’t let up. He walked over, bumped into her, and then pretended it was an accident, saying, “Oh, sorry, I didn’t mean it. You won’t hit me, will you?”
Did she want to hit him? Yes, she did.
She wanted to get him fired. Who was he mocking?
Yu Heyi clenched her fist and glared at him fiercely. He glared back, looking ready to fight if she made a move.
After thinking it over, Yu Heyi didn’t act. She tossed the rag down and said, “What? Trying to provoke me? Look at yourself first.”
Yu Heyi looked down on him. She’d seen him sucking up to Manager Li multiple times, only to act all high and mighty back in the kitchen.
She hated people like him—two-faced, just like Zheng Qin.
Her words angered the guy, and seeing the disdain in Yu Heyi’s eyes, he lost control and lunged at her.
Yu Heyi wasn’t scared at all. If he touched her, she’d have a reason to get him fired. But before he could reach her, Li Li bumped into him.
“What are you all doing?”
Their commotion was loud, and Manager Li came over after hearing it.
When Li Li saw Manager Li approach, he immediately lowered his head, not daring to look at her. The male alpha did the same.
Only Yu Heyi looked at Manager Li.
“He was going to hit me. Li Li was helping,” she said.
Manager Li nodded at her explanation. Even without Yu Heyi’s words, she’d seen from a distance that Yu Heyi was wiping tables when the male alpha got close to her.
“I’ll handle this. Xiao Yu, you can clock out,” Manager Li said.
“What about Li Li?” Yu Heyi asked.
Yu Heyi didn’t care much about herself, but Li Li was different.
Getting fired or even fined would make her feel bad since Li Li was helping her.
Manager Li glanced at Li Li and said to Yu Heyi, “Leave it to me. Clock out.”
“But…” Yu Heyi wanted to say more, but Li Li tugged at her sleeve and shook his head.
With no other choice, Yu Heyi left.
After all, Manager Li was in charge here. Even if the cafeteria belonged to her mommy, Lady Du would probably have to listen to Manager Li—she had the experience.
Yu Heyi didn’t know or understand what punishment Li Li might face.
But if Li Li got fired, she’d find a way to make sure he could still earn money.
Leaving the cafeteria, Yu Heyi went to the teaching building to wait for Chi Ruixi to finish class.
But… she didn’t know which classroom Chi Ruixi was in. After the morning’s incident, it wouldn’t look good to wander the hallways and get caught lingering at a door again, right?
So, Yu Heyi stood outside Chi Ruixi’s office, waiting.
She didn’t wait long before Chi Ruixi came out of class. Seeing her struggle to walk, Yu Heyi wanted to help, but after taking two steps, she saw Chi Ying come out of a classroom, linking arms with Chi Ruixi and walking together.
Yu Heyi’s face darkened. She watched Chi Ruixi being supported by that little alpha, smiling at her.
Then they walked up to her. Chi Ying stared at her, but Chi Ruixi didn’t even glance at her before entering the office.
“Teacher Chi, I won’t go in,” Chi Ying said.
“Okay,” Chi Ruixi replied, opening the door and going in, as if she hadn’t seen Yu Heyi.
…So annoying. Yu Heyi wanted to rush in and ask what that was about, but with Chi Ying there, she had to hold it together.
Standing expressionless in the hallway, she didn’t look at Chi Ying but stared at Chi Ruixi’s office.
Hurry up and leave, kid. She needed to go talk to Chi Ruixi.
But Chi Ying didn’t leave. Instead, she moved closer to Yu Heyi.
“Hey, are you looking for Teacher Chi?” Chi Ying asked.
Yu Heyi didn’t want to deal with her, but since she spoke first, it’d be rude to ignore her, right?
She gave a short “Mm” without looking at Chi Ying.
But… why was this kid suddenly staring at her?
Yu Heyi frowned, a bit irritated. Being stared at felt awful. Chi Ying sensed her impatience but didn’t mind. She just wanted to check out the alpha her aunt liked.
At noon in the cafeteria, Yu Heyi’s protective stance toward Chi Ruixi had left Chi Ying with a good impression, so she found Yu Heyi kind of likable, even with her frowning impatience.
Smiling, Chi Ying introduced herself. “I’m Chi Ying. What’s your name?”
Chi Ying…
After hearing her name, Yu Heyi looked at her closely and noticed… she looked a bit like Chi Ruixi?
And her surname was Chi?
Her tone softened unconsciously as she asked, “Chi Ruixi… who is she to you?”
Chi Ying blinked, her smile growing brighter. “She’s my aunt.”
Her bright smile made Yu Heyi feel embarrassed, thinking about what she’d done to Chi Ying before… So awkward.
So awkward she didn’t know how to respond…
Chi Ying stepped closer, blinking eyes that resembled Chi Ruixi’s, and said, “Auntie’s husband, what’s your name?”
Yu Heyi’s eyes widened, staring at Chi Ying in disbelief.
What did she just call her? Auntie’s husband???
Yu Heyi’s heart skipped a beat. Chi Ruixi was her aunt, and she was auntie’s husband…
If they had a kid later, Chi Ruixi would be Mommy, and she’d be Mama.
So… thrilling.
“I… I’m…” Yu Heyi thought she should answer her niece’s question first, but just as she was about to say her name, she heard Chi Ruixi’s voice.
“Yu Heyi, come in.”
“Chi Ying, go back to class.”
The first sentence was cold, the second stern.
Both Yu Heyi and Chi Ying froze. Chi Ying reacted first, playfully winking at Chi Ruixi and saying, “Teacher Chi, I’m going.”
Before leaving, she pushed Yu Heyi closer to Chi Ruixi and said with a grin, “I’m off, Auntie’s husband.”
She mouthed silently, “Good luck!”
Before Chi Ruixi could scold her, she ran off.
After Chi Ying was gone, Chi Ruixi cleared her throat and said to Yu Heyi, “Don’t take what kids say seriously.”
Don’t take it seriously? Yu Heyi, who’d been a bit smug about Chi Ying’s words, suddenly felt deflated.
Chi Ruixi saw it all. The tips of her ears, hidden from Yu Heyi, turned slightly red.
She’d overheard everything Chi Ying said, eavesdropping at the office door. Hearing “auntie’s husband,” she couldn’t help but shoo Chi Ying away.
Though she and Yu Heyi were legally married, their feelings clearly weren’t there yet.
Chi Ying’s words were a bit premature.
But Yu Heyi’s joy and disappointment were pretty obvious.
“Chi Ruixi?” She’d called her in, but now… staring off like that, what was up?
Plus, Yu Heyi had things to ask her.
Snapped out of it by Yu Heyi’s voice, Chi Ruixi’s ears reddened further. She’d been staring at her, but to hide it, she kept a straight face and said, “Come in.”
In the office, it was just Chi Ruixi. She pulled a chair for Yu Heyi to sit across from her. Yu Heyi had questions, but seeing Chi Ruixi’s expression, it seemed she had something to say too. Following the alpha’s principle of yielding to an omega, Yu Heyi let her go first.
“You called me in. What’s up?” she asked.
Chi Ruixi did have something to say and didn’t hold back. “I think, even though we’re married now, it’s best not to make it public at school. After all… like you said, we don’t have any feelings.”
After a pause, she added, “Do you have something to say to me?”
Halfway through her words, Chi Ruixi noticed Yu Heyi’s expression sour, but she still wanted to hear what Yu Heyi had to say.
Yu Heyi looked at her, opened her mouth, and thought, I had a question, but after what you said, I don’t want to ask anymore. I know the answer.
Chi Ruixi really didn’t want to go on that blind date with her, and even now, married, she wanted to keep their distance.
…But Yu Heyi felt that keeping that distance might make her a bit unhappy.
She pursed her lips and said, “I don’t agree.”
“Then what do you want?” Whether it was Yu Heyi’s imagination, there seemed to be a hint of amusement in Chi Ruixi’s eyes.
She froze, then said a bit defiantly, “We’re legally married. Why should we keep our distance?”
Chi Ruixi smiled and said, “Didn’t you tell me not to expect love?”
She still cared about that comment Yu Heyi had made, even though she could clearly feel Yu Heyi was starting to fall for her.
