After Going on a Blind Date With My Omega Love Rival (ABO, GL) - Chapter 38
Chapter 38
Chi Ruixi caught a glimpse of Yu Heyi by chance. She had been following Chi Ying’s figure with her eyes, not expecting to see Yu Heyi—and it looked like she was smoking.
Even though Yu Heyi quickly stomped out the cigarette, Chi Ruixi still saw it.
Thinking about how Yu Heyi hadn’t sent her a single message all day and was now hiding in a corner smoking, Chi Ruixi felt a bit irritated.
She quickly finished eating and returned to her office.
Chi Ruixi had classes in the second and third periods of the afternoon, so after lunch, she went back to her office to rest. She had planned to take a nap, but thinking about Yu Heyi kept her awake. She checked her phone and looked at her chat with Yu Heyi. The last message was from Yu Heyi yesterday, saying she was waiting in the parking lot.
Lately, their conversations were mostly like this—about what to eat or Yu Heyi waiting for her in the parking lot. Her leg was already healed, but she still rode in Yu Heyi’s car. Yu Heyi looked cool when driving, unlike her, who felt a bit clumsy.
After staring at the chat for a while, Chi Ruixi couldn’t resist sending Yu Heyi a WeChat message.
“Did you eat lunch?”
Sometimes Yu Heyi got so busy she wouldn’t eat until after 2 p.m. Chi Ruixi didn’t know if she could eat earlier today.
After sending the message, she waited, but Yu Heyi didn’t reply. Half an hour later, still no response.
Chi Ruixi kept staring at the chat, unable to nap.
Just before class, Teacher Cheng and a few other teachers returned, chatting as they walked in. “They’re already in their second year of high school, and instead of focusing on studies, they’re still thinking about dating.”
The person she was talking to was a young female beta English teacher. “Teacher Cheng, is there puppy love in your class?”
“Yeah, they were even passing notes in class, thinking I wouldn’t see.”
Then the two launched into a heated discussion about puppy love.
Chi Ruixi didn’t join in, but she now understood why she had sensed something off between Chi Ying and Zhan Yuan.
Chi Ying and Zhan Yuan—it seemed a bit like puppy love.
Chi Ying had already differentiated, but Zhan Yuan hadn’t, so Chi Ruixi hadn’t thought in that direction before. But on second thought, feelings didn’t require differentiation.
Take her, for example.
Before she differentiated, she fell for Yu Heyi at first sight.
Luckily, she differentiated into an Omega, so she could be with Yu Heyi…
At that thought, Chi Ruixi suddenly remembered something. She recalled that Zhan Yuan was predicted to be an alpha.
Chi Ying was an alpha too. If Zhan Yuan also differentiated as an alpha…
…That would be an AA relationship?
Chi Ruixi didn’t mind, but the two Chi family elders probably wouldn’t approve.
With these thoughts, Chi Ruixi set aside the fact that Yu Heyi hadn’t replied to her message. During class, whenever she saw Chi Ying and Zhan Yuan, she felt a bit worried. The two, noticing her attention, clearly sensed something off about her.
Chi Ruixi’s gaze often lingered on them, carrying a hint of concern.
They were confused. Before class, they had been avoiding looking at each other, but Chi Ruixi’s obvious stares made Chi Ying glance at Zhan Yuan, and Zhan Yuan look back at Chi Ying.
After class, they even ran out of the classroom together in sync.
It wasn’t until they reached the sports field that Chi Ying remembered. She was holding Zhan Yuan’s hand but didn’t let go right away. Instead, she savored the feeling—Zhan Yuan’s hand was so soft, almost like an Omega’s.
It didn’t feel like someone who would differentiate into an alpha.
Finally, Zhan Yuan couldn’t take it and pulled her hand away.
Her face was a bit red. Just now, Chi Ying had been playing with her hand.
They had been upset with each other today, yet after class, they ran out holding hands. It felt embarrassing no matter how you thought about it.
Both felt like they had lost the upper hand.
But as an alpha, Chi Ying had some awareness. If there was an issue, it needed to be addressed. She and Zhan Yuan were supposed to be lifelong friends; they couldn’t let a small thing hurt their friendship.
“Today, it’s not like I asked her to bring me breakfast. She insisted on giving it to me.” Chi Ying was talking about a female Omega in their class who had recently differentiated. Since then, she often sought Chi Ying out, and lately, she’d been finding ways to bring her breakfast. Today was no exception.
Chi Ying usually didn’t eat it. When she skipped breakfast, Zhan Yuan would bring her something. But today, Zhan Yuan was late, and the girl handed her breakfast. While Chi Ying hesitated, Zhan Yuan arrived.
Without hearing an explanation, Zhan Yuan said, “Someone’s buying you breakfast? Then I won’t bring you any anymore.”
Actually, Zhan Yuan bringing her breakfast started because Chi Ying suggested it. She used to skip breakfast occasionally, but Zhan Yuan went to the cafeteria every day, so Chi Ying mooched off her. Over time, Zhan Yuan got used to bringing it, and Chi Ying got used to eating it.
But now, Chi Ying felt a bit wronged. She hadn’t eaten the breakfast the other girl gave her.
The more wronged she felt, the angrier she got. Ignoring the blushing girl, she blurted out, “I didn’t eat her breakfast! Don’t accuse me!”
Zhan Yuan, who had been blushing, paled at her words. She felt Chi Ying was the one accusing her and retorted, “Didn’t you have fun with her in PE yesterday?”
Yesterday, Zhan Yuan had felt unwell, so Chi Ying spent the class with that girl.
Hearing this, Chi Ying felt even more wronged. “You were the one who felt sick first!”
Chi Ying was upset, and so was Zhan Yuan.
She didn’t know what was wrong yesterday; she just felt off and took leave.
But when she felt better and went to the field to find Chi Ying, she saw her chatting happily with that girl, completely unaware of her. Upset, Zhan Yuan went back.
The more she thought about it, the more wronged she felt. She never hung out with others, but Chi Ying… she got along well with so many people.
Zhan Yuan’s eyes were puffy, as if she might cry. Not wanting to cry in front of Chi Ying, she lowered her head to hold back tears. Seeing this, Chi Ying felt a bit guilty—had she been too harsh just now?
But Zhan Yuan, why was she so quick to cry? She was supposed to differentiate into an alpha. Chi Ying stepped forward, patted her shoulder, and said, “She’s an Omega. Why are you jealous of her? You’re going to be an alpha.”
It would have been better if she hadn’t said that. After those words, Zhan Yuan held back her tears, her face turning colder.
“What’s wrong with Omegas?”
Chi Ying was startled by her tone and said softly, “Why are you suddenly so fierce?”
She didn’t understand why Zhan Yuan was jealous of an Omega. Frowning, she continued, “I mean, you’re going to be an alpha. What’s the point of being jealous of an Omega?”
To her surprise, Zhan Yuan shot back, “How do you know I’ll definitely be an alpha?”
Chi Ying was stunned. Yeah, how was it certain?
She was predicted to be a beta but differentiated into an alpha. Her auntie became an Omega.
But Zhan Yuan’s words…
Chi Ying tugged at the corner of her mouth, grabbing Zhan Yuan’s arm. “Don’t joke. Don’t you want to be an alpha?”
Zhan Yuan yanked her hand away, giving her a look like she was an idiot, and walked off without looking back.
Left alone, Chi Ying blinked, staring at her rejected hand, feeling lost.
Then someone patted her from behind and said near her ear, “You looked a bit silly just now.”
Startled, Chi Ying turned to see Yu Heyi.
“You… why are you here?”
Yu Heyi pointed to two stray cats nearby. “I was feeding them over there. You didn’t see me.”
She wanted to clarify she wasn’t eavesdropping—she was there first.
Chi Ying glared at her angrily and said, “My auntie says you’re a fool too.”
Chi Ruixi said I’m a fool?
Yu Heyi was stunned by Chi Ying’s words, then her face showed some anger. Seeing this, Chi Ying quickly said, “I’m going back to class,” and ran off like a puff of smoke.
“Hey!”
Yu Heyi was speechless. Why run so fast?
Wasn’t it your auntie who said it?
Where was she foolish?
If Chi Ruixi had said this before, Yu Heyi might, probably, maybe have confronted her, demanding why she said that.
An alpha might even have gotten physical.
But now… Chi Ruixi was her Omega.
Yu Heyi strolled to Chi Ruixi’s office door. She didn’t know if Chi Ruixi had a class but wanted to try her luck. Just as she was about to knock, someone came out.
It was a teacher she hadn’t seen before. The male teacher glanced at her, and from his inexplicable aura, Yu Heyi sensed he was an alpha, over thirty, looking stern.
Seeing her in a T-shirt and casual pants, he thought she was a student and scolded, “Why aren’t you in uniform? Get to class. What’s your class?”
This embarrassed Yu Heyi, who was nearly thirty.
She usually dressed casually, with a ponytail, looking younger than her peers—maybe early twenties—but being mistaken for a high schooler? That was a stretch.
“I’m not a student. I’m here to find someone.”
He sized her up, his expression still unfriendly. Yu Heyi figured it might be the typical alpha hostility.
To be honest, she hadn’t seen much of that lately. She used to encounter it often in competitions, but recently, only Old Zhang had been like that.
“I’m looking for Teacher Chi,” Yu Heyi said, meeting his gaze.
His expression remained sour, but he answered, “Teacher Chi’s in class.”
Yu Heyi found him odd but politely said, “Thank you,” and headed toward the classrooms.
As she walked, she thought his hostility felt different, almost like he saw her as a rival. Could he actually be a rival?
When she mentioned Chi Ruixi, his look seemed like he wanted to eat her alive. She even caught a whiff of his sharp, unpleasant pheromones for a moment.
If it had lasted longer, Yu Heyi might have released her own pheromones to counter.
The more she thought about it, the angrier she got. Why was Chi Ruixi so attractive to others?
