After Going on a Blind Date With My Omega Love Rival (ABO, GL) - Chapter 40
Chapter 40
When Chi Ruixi returned to the office, everyone was already there: the dean, Teacher Zhao, Teacher Cheng, and the other teachers from the grade level.
“Sorry, I had something to take care of.”
Since the last period was a study hall, the teachers were holding a meeting in the office. Teacher Zhao was the male alpha Yu Heyi had encountered earlier at the office.
Seeing Chi Ruixi enter, Teacher Zhao smiled, pulled out a chair for her to sit beside him, and started the meeting.
“Today, we’re mainly discussing the summer camp. This camp is focused on relaxation. The second-year students are about to become third-years and face the college entrance exams next year, so the school organized this event.”
“We want every student to participate. This camp is only for our second-year group.”
After recent educational reforms, things had become more relaxed. Even high school students weren’t as stressed as before. First- and second-years had almost no evening study sessions, attending and leaving school on time. Third-years only had extra classes on Saturdays and holidays, making other times relatively easy.
Of course, some parents still enrolled their kids in many tutoring classes, but that was a minority, mostly for students with poor grades.
After speaking, Teacher Zhao looked at Chi Ruixi with clear admiration in his eyes. He patted her shoulder, acting like a senior despite his age. “Little Chi, you’re the youngest among the homeroom teachers. If you need help with anything, come to me.”
Chi Ruixi subtly frowned, shifting her shoulder uncomfortably. Teacher Zhao noticed, removing his hand from her shoulder and giving her an ambiguous glance.
Chi Ruixi kept her head down, feeling a bit nauseated.
Teacher Zhao was different from Zheng Qin. Zheng Qin pestered her recklessly, while Teacher Zhao took every chance to take small advantages.
So far, he’d only dared to pat her shoulder, but Chi Ruixi could clearly sense his sleaziness. She discreetly moved her chair farther from him.
Sitting next to her was Teacher Cheng, who had seen Teacher Zhao’s actions. Noticing Chi Ruixi move closer, she patted Chi Ruixi’s leg, made a gagging gesture out of Teacher Zhao’s sight, and smiled at her.
Chi Ruixi returned a smile.
Teacher Zhao, seeing Chi Ruixi’s smile, was momentarily stunned. Though she had just avoided him, it didn’t dampen his infatuation with her.
“Ahem, let’s continue the meeting. I’ll go over the summer camp details.” Teacher Zhao then launched into a lengthy explanation, turning a few sentences into a half-hour speech.
Chi Ruixi’s mind wandered. She was thinking about Yu Heyi waiting in the parking lot.
It was late June, and summer vacation was approaching. The summer camp was set for the first week of the break. After the camp, if there was time, she wanted to ask Yu Heyi if she’d like to go somewhere to have fun.
“Teacher Chi, Teacher Chi?”
Lost in thoughts of where to go with Yu Heyi, Chi Ruixi only reacted when called a second time.
“What’s up, Teacher Zhao?”
“Oh, I was saying the camp will involve outdoor camping. Omega teachers, remember to bring bug spray or something to protect yourselves.”
Chi Ruixi nodded at this. Behind her, Teacher Cheng rolled her eyes at Teacher Zhao. Did he really need to emphasize this so much, showing off?
Teacher Zhao added, “You can bring family members this time.”
At the mention of family, Chi Ruixi’s eyes lit up. Teacher Zhao, seeing this, let out a hearty laugh and slicked back his hair, thinking he looked suave.
…Teacher Zhao wrapped up with a few more words, and the meeting ended.
The teachers who were done for the day left, but Teacher Zhao seemed in no hurry. As most of them cleared out, he suddenly called out to Chi Ruixi. “Teacher Chi, I have something to say to you.”
No matter how much she disliked it, she couldn’t outright refuse a superior. She had already packed up but had to wait for him to speak.
Teacher Cheng was the last to leave. As she passed, she muttered, “He’s so greasy. Be careful.”
Chi Ruixi nodded. She knew.
Teacher Cheng left the door open on purpose. Fearing Teacher Zhao might close it, Chi Ruixi moved to stand near the door.
“What’s the matter, Teacher Zhao?”
With just the two of them in the office, Teacher Zhao didn’t hide the affection in his eyes, staring directly at Chi Ruixi.
“Got plans after school? Let me treat you to dinner.”
“Sorry, I have plans tonight.”
“Plans?” Teacher Zhao didn’t believe her. He’d asked Chi Ruixi out ten times, and nine times she had plans. The one time she didn’t refuse was for a team-building event.
He’d never successfully invited her out.
He thought she was just brushing him off. How could she have that many plans?
“Teacher Chi, I just admire you and want to get to know you better.”
Chi Ruixi gave a polite smile. “No need, Teacher Zhao. I really have plans tonight. My alpha is waiting for me in the parking lot.”
…Hearing this, the smile vanished from Teacher Zhao’s face, replaced by a dark expression.
He still didn’t believe her and reached out to grab her. Chi Ruixi dodged quickly, avoiding his touch, and her tone turned cold.
“Teacher Zhao, we’re at school. Please behave yourself.” With that, she walked past him, not wanting to hear another word.
But her words seemed to anger him. Since she started at the school, he’d had his eye on her, believing she’d eventually be his. Behave himself? Was she saying she didn’t want to stay at the school?
Furious, he grabbed her wrist tightly. Chi Ruixi tried to shake him off, but she couldn’t overpower him.
“That PE teacher liked you. Are you with her?” Teacher Zhao didn’t care about her struggles, holding her firmly.
“No, I’m not with her. My alpha is much better than her.” Zheng Qin wasn’t a good person, and Teacher Zhao was even worse.
“Since you have a family member, you’ll bring them to the summer camp, right?” He didn’t believe she really had someone and thought she’d slip up eventually.
Chi Ruixi nodded. “Sure, if she’s willing.”
Hearing this, Teacher Zhao loosened his grip slightly. For some reason, he suddenly thought of the young female alpha who came looking for Chi Ruixi earlier.
Taking advantage of the moment, Chi Ruixi shook off his hand.
“I’m leaving, Teacher Zhao.”
Yu Heyi, waiting in the car for over half an hour, got bored and opened a game.
She saw Jiang Qi online and was about to invite her when Jiang Qi beat her to it, inviting her to a match. Jiang Qi’s game name suited her vibe: AlphaSisterICan.
Yu Heyi had teased her about it many times, saying it screamed she was into AA relationships and wanted to be the dominant one. Jiang Qi often mocked Yu Heyi’s name too, joking, “What kind of fish is called ‘One’?”
Yes, her name was OneFish.
After joining the room, Yu Heyi noticed another player, assuming it was some alpha Jiang Qi was into. But when the voice chat started, she heard Jingwan’s voice.
Jingwan’s ID was equally cringeworthy: SuperGentleOmegaa.
With an extra “a,” probably due to a duplicate name.
Jingwan: “Is this Yu Heyi?”
Jiang Qi: “Yeah, what a lame name.”
Yu Heyi was half-dead with annoyance hearing them. Their names were the weird ones! She was about to retort when Jiang Qi started the game.
Yu Heyi hadn’t played much lately, busy with work, cooking, and waking up early. She had no time for games.
Today, while waiting for Chi Ruixi, she had time for a match.
In the new season, Yu Heyi hadn’t played much and was at Star rank, while Jiang Qi and Jingwan were both at King rank.
Yu Heyi usually played the bottom lane and instantly picked Yu Ji. Jiang Qi took the top lane with Lü Bu.
And Jingwan… picked Shangguan Wan’er, a character somewhat matching her name, and at max level.
This match was a disaster for Yu Heyi. Shangguan Wan’er couldn’t fly…
She didn’t support either, and the mid-lane tower was gone in minutes.
She even called for Jiang Qi and Yu Heyi to back her up.
…How could they keep playing? Because Wan’er couldn’t fly, the enemy Diaochan roamed freely, wrecking both top and bottom lanes.
In the end, Yu Heyi’s score was 3-6-2, Jiang Qi’s was 2-7-1, and Jingwan’s… 0-10-1.
Unbelievable. What a score.
“Jingwan, you’re awful,” Yu Heyi held back from saying, but Jiang Qi, being close to Jingwan, kept roasting her.
Jingwan stayed silent during the roasting. When Jiang Qi was done, she finally said, “My husband usually plays this account.”
Yu Heyi’s face nearly cracked.
“Alright, stop picking on me. It’s just a game, not a big deal.”
Then the topic shifted to Yu Heyi.
“Yu Heyi, how’s it going with Ruixi? I asked her, and she wouldn’t tell me.”
“We’re…” Yu Heyi faltered. She could talk to Jiang Qi or her mom about it, but with Jingwan… it wasn’t that she didn’t like her. After the wedding, she realized she no longer felt that youthful spark for Jingwan. Maybe over the years, no one else had entered her heart, but now, someone had.
She didn’t want to say much because she felt they weren’t that close.
Since even Chi Ruixi, who was closer to Jingwan, didn’t share, why should she?
But her hesitation made Jingwan more curious.
Jiang Qi, sensing Yu Heyi didn’t want to talk, changed the subject.
“Let’s start another match. Stop dawdling.”
Having gotten the gossip, Jiang Qi wasn’t interested in pursuing it and started another game.
The game successfully distracted Jingwan, who began clamoring to play Diaochan, impressed by the enemy’s earlier performance.
Yu Heyi stuck to the bottom lane, Jiang Qi to the top. Once the game started, Jingwan became chatty. Since Yu Heyi was alone in the car, she played the voice chat on speaker, quite loudly.
When Chi Ruixi approached the car, she faintly heard voices. Opening the door, she heard clearly.
Yu Heyi was playing a game with Jingwan.
