After Going on a Blind Date With My Omega Love Rival (ABO, GL) - Chapter 41
Chapter 41
After being pestered by Teacher Zhao, Chi Ruixi was already in a bad mood. She thought seeing Yu Heyi might cheer her up, but…
She found her playing a game with Jingwan.
When Yu Heyi heard the noise and turned to see Chi Ruixi, her hand shook, and her phone dropped to the floor.
Jingwan’s voice came from the phone: “Yu Heyi, what’s wrong with you? Fight, fight!”
Then she cursed: “Damn, I’m dead.”
Next was Jiang Qi’s voice: “Yu Heyi, you’re such a noob. We’re all in, why aren’t you moving?”
Jiang Qi died too…
A team wipe. They lost again.
With their voices, Yu Heyi felt the atmosphere in the car growing more awkward.
She said guiltily, “It was Jiang Qi… she asked me to play. I didn’t know Jingwan was there.”
After saying this, the two who had been shouting suddenly went quiet.
Yu Heyi blinked awkwardly. Chi Ruixi, sitting in the passenger seat, blinked too.
“Is the game fun?”
“I was wrong…”
They spoke at the same time. Chi Ruixi showed no reaction, but Yu Heyi froze.
Chi Ruixi asked if the game was fun?
Shouldn’t she be mad right now?
The game’s voice chat was still on. Jiang Qi laughed first, followed by Jingwan.
Jiang Qi teased, “Yu Heyi, does your family breed henpecked husbands?”
Compared to Jiang Qi, Jingwan was more restrained, addressing Chi Ruixi: “Ruixi, you’re amazing. Look how scared you’ve got Yu Heyi.”
Following the voices, Chi Ruixi glanced at the phone Yu Heyi had dropped. Yu Heyi quickly picked it up, started the car, and looked at Chi Ruixi. Her gaze was no longer on the phone but out the window, as if nothing had happened.
“Aren’t we going to the supermarket?”
“Oh, right, the supermarket.”
Yu Heyi pulled her eyes away from Chi Ruixi and started driving.
After a while, Chi Ruixi got bored looking out the window and turned to watch Yu Heyi. She was focused on driving, wearing a crisp shirt and sunglasses. The first time Chi Ruixi saw her in sunglasses, Yu Heyi had explained, a bit embarrassed, that she used to wear them for competitions, so she got used to them for driving or riding her motorcycle.
Back then, Chi Ruixi had stared at her like she was now. Under the sunglasses was a sharp nose and lips of just the right thickness. It made Chi Ruixi’s heart race. But thinking about the game earlier, she turned her face away.
Still, it made Yu Heyi blush.
She’d noticed Chi Ruixi’s intense gaze from the moment it landed on her. But why did she turn away?
Yu Heyi was making a turn. After straightening the wheel, she cleared her throat and asked, “What was the meeting about?”
“It was about the summer camp.”
Yu Heyi nodded, then focused on driving. But she suddenly felt Chi Ruixi hesitating, as if she wanted to say something.
Taking one hand off the wheel, she grabbed Chi Ruixi’s hand and asked, “What’s wrong?”
Chi Ruixi glanced at the hand holding hers, her face warming. She pulled her hand away and said, “The summer camp allows family members.”
Yu Heyi’s eyes lit up, and she said excitedly, “Are you inviting me?”
That had been her plan, but seeing Yu Heyi play with Jingwan, Chi Ruixi didn’t want to bring her anymore.
“No need, right? You seem to have fun playing games. The summer camp’s boring.”
Oof… the consequences were coming. She was definitely a bit mad.
“I was wrong,” Yu Heyi said, grabbing her hand and placing it on her leg, lacing their fingers tightly.
Chi Ruixi tried to pull away, but Yu Heyi held on tighter, her tone turning serious. “I’m driving. Don’t move.”
It felt like she was being teased.
Chi Ruixi’s face flushed. The aloof demeanor from earlier was gone. She pursed her lips, looked out the window, and said, “What are you doing?”
“I want you to take me to the summer camp. Please, Sister Chi?”
Yu Heyi’s voice was inexplicably soft, making Chi Ruixi’s face redden further. Though she was two years older, being called “sister” like that… it was a bit embarrassing.
Why was she so good at acting cute?
“We’ll see.”
At the supermarket, Yu Heyi spotted a hotpot-grill combo pot and, holding Chi Ruixi’s hand, said excitedly, “We can grill meat and have hotpot at the same time. I’ve always wanted this pot, but since I usually eat alone, I never bought it.”
She squeezed Chi Ruixi’s hand. “Now it’s great. We can eat together.”
Chi Ruixi’s expression remained blank.
Yu Heyi knew she was still upset, so she didn’t say more, pulling her along to keep shopping. Near the fresh produce section, Chi Ruixi suddenly stopped and asked, “Did you use the inhibitor?”
“I did, but…”
“But what?”
“It might still need your soothing~” Yu Heyi grinned mischievously, squeezing Chi Ruixi’s hand with a suggestive hint.
Chi Ruixi’s cheeks turned pink. She laughed and scolded, “In your dreams.” She was still mad, and now she was supposed to soothe her?
Yu Heyi whined, wrapping an arm around her shoulders and pulling her close, whispering in her ear, “Isn’t Sister Chi my Omega? Why’s it ‘in my dreams’ to want my Omega to soothe me?”
Chi Ruixi shyly pushed her away, muttering, “You seem to need gaming more.” Then she walked to the fruit section alone.
Yu Heyi, holding the pot, shouted after her, “Wait for me!”
To her surprise, Chi Ruixi walked faster. Yu Heyi chased until… she saw Chi Ruixi stop at the durian section.
“Ugh…” Still a few meters away, Yu Heyi was hit by the stench. The durian smell was overwhelming. She covered her mouth, refusing to take another step.
Meanwhile, Chi Ruixi stood among the durians, picking through them…
Very seriously.
Finally, she chose a large one and walked toward Yu Heyi. To Yu Heyi, this was like a bolt from the blue.
She didn’t like durians—she hated them. They were too smelly.
“We’re eating durian tonight~” Chi Ruixi’s tone was cheerful. Immersed in durian joy, she only noticed Yu Heyi’s discomfort when she got closer.
She hadn’t considered whether Yu Heyi would like durians.
It seemed she really didn’t.
She stopped about three meters away, turned to return the durian, but then thought—she didn’t like Yu Heyi playing games with Jingwan either. Yu Heyi had fun doing that. So she turned back.
Yu Heyi, covering her mouth, hadn’t responded yet. Seeing Chi Ruixi turn back, she thought she was upset and hurried forward, one hand grabbing Chi Ruixi as she turned, the other covering her mouth. “Why are you going back? Aren’t we done shopping?”
Seeing Yu Heyi approach, Chi Ruixi instinctively kept the durian farther away, saying, “I want to swap for a bigger one. This might not be enough for both of us.”
“Uh… no need, no need.” It was already big. A bigger one would take forever to eat.
“You don’t like it?”
“No, no, I… kind of like it.” Yu Heyi shook her head, lowering her hand to deny it.
But as soon as she did, the durian’s stench hit her, worse than an alpha’s pheromones. She gagged instinctively.
Chi Ruixi deliberately ignored Yu Heyi’s disgust and placed the durian in her hands.
Holding her breath, Yu Heyi chased after Chi Ruixi, durian in arms, and went to buy meat, moving quickly to finish shopping and get home.
Chi Ruixi watched Yu Heyi’s stubborn back from behind, her heart softening.
Tonight… she should really soothe her properly.
Because of the durian’s smell, Yu Heyi shopped fast, finishing in about ten minutes. They left the supermarket, Yu Heyi still clutching the durian until she put it in the trunk. Only then did she breathe a sigh of relief, feeling the fresh air was heavenly.
She grabbed Chi Ruixi’s hand, swinging it. “Let’s go home for grilled meat, hotpot, and durian…”
Chi Ruixi smiled, tightening her grip on Yu Heyi’s hand.
On the way back, Yu Heyi drove seriously. Chi Ruixi quietly took out her phone, opened the app store, and downloaded a game.
At a red light, Chi Ruixi called out to Yu Heyi.
“What’s up?”
Yu Heyi, driving, turned to look at her when she called, and… got a phone shoved in her face.
Chi Ruixi’s voice was soft as she asked, “Is this the game you were playing?”
Yu Heyi nodded instinctively, then saw the “downloading” screen.
Was Chi Ruixi, caring that she played with Jingwan, planning to play with her?
The thought made Yu Heyi inexplicably happy—Chi Ruixi wanted to game with her.
Excitedly, she asked, “Have you played this before?” If not, she could teach her step by step.
Chi Ruixi shook her head. “No, I haven’t.”
Then she added, “Is this game popular? Chi Ying asked me to play with her.”
“Chi Ying plays too?” Yu Heyi’s tone held a hint of disappointment. She said, a bit aggrieved, “You won’t play with me?”
“No.”
“Why not?”
Chi Ruixi glared at her, her eyes clearly showing she still cared about her playing with others.
“Just no.” Chi Ruixi pouted, her girlish demeanor on full display, soft and delicate.
Yu Heyi’s heart raced. Chi Ruixi was so cute right now—she wanted to kiss her.
How had she not found Chi Ruixi cute before, even finding her annoying?
Was she blind? She used to think Jingwan’s lively charm was cute, but clearly… Chi Ruixi’s usual cool aloofness, with occasional bursts of cuteness, was what really got to her.
Yu Heyi glanced up. Three seconds left on the green light. She quickly leaned over, planting a swift kiss on the corner of Chi Ruixi’s mouth.
Three seconds exactly, and she drove off.
“What are you doing?” Though Chi Ruixi was still mad, the corner of her kissed mouth curved up slightly.
Yu Heyi, smiling, said, “I want to play games with you.”
“I’m not playing with you. You have so many people to play with—unless… you only play with me.”
