After Going on a Blind Date With My Omega Love Rival (ABO, GL) - Chapter 42
Chapter 42
Yu Heyi didn’t expect Chi Ruixi to get so shy so easily. They’d already done everything together, yet a single kiss made her blush like this.
When they got out of the car, Chi Ruixi carried the durian and walked ahead alone. When Yu Heyi tried to get closer, she waved her off, telling her to keep her distance.
“The durian smells strong. Stay back.”
Once they got home, Chi Ruixi placed the durian on the balcony and opened a window for ventilation. She avoided looking at Yu Heyi and went to the kitchen, her eyes clearly dodging. But Yu Heyi’s sharp gaze noticed the tips of Chi Ruixi’s ears were still red.
They had a clear division of labor: Yu Heyi cleaned the pot, while Chi Ruixi washed dishes and vegetables. Neither mentioned the kiss, quietly focusing on their tasks. The kitchen wasn’t big, and it felt a bit cramped when they moved around. After cleaning the pot and draining the water, Yu Heyi turned and bumped into Chi Ruixi, who was also turning. Chi Ruixi leaned back, and Yu Heyi set the pot on the cutting board, quickly wrapping her arms tightly around her.
Nose to nose, lips to lips, Yu Heyi stared at Chi Ruixi’s eyelashes, swallowing hard. She felt the inhibitor was starting to wear off; her glands were heating up, and her senses were sharper.
In the small space, she could smell peach everywhere.
Instinctively, she licked her lips and slowly leaned toward Chi Ruixi’s full lips.
Chi Ruixi was held tightly, her breathing strained. She wanted to break free but saw the intense heat in Yu Heyi’s eyes. When Yu Heyi licked her lips, her heart skipped a beat, and as Yu Heyi leaned in, she closed her eyes out of habit.
Yu Heyi kissed her lips, then her cheeks, and her ears.
Finally, she whispered in her ear, “Ruixi, can I call you that from now on?”
Chi Ruixi’s face flushed even more. She nodded, burying her face in Yu Heyi’s neck. She thought Yu Heyi was a bit naughty. Before, she wouldn’t admit it, but now, how was she so good at this?
Not exactly good—it was just that Chi Ruixi couldn’t handle any closeness from Yu Heyi. She felt her personality was a bit contradictory. Before, she was fixated on Yu Heyi saying there was no love, thinking she could only have her physically.
But now, a simple kiss from Yu Heyi set her body ablaze, nearly melting her into a puddle.
As long as Yu Heyi wanted, she’d give her anything.
“Mmm…” Lost in thought, Yu Heyi licked her earlobe, making her tremble and whimper.
Chi Ruixi felt like she had a fever, her body unnaturally hot—not like her usual heat cycle, but like the day she differentiated, rolling restlessly in bed, calling Yu Heyi’s name in her heart.
How she wished Yu Heyi would appear and hold her tight.
Yu Heyi was holding her tightly now, and Chi Ruixi felt her eyes heat up, tears threatening to spill.
“Mmm… Heyi, are you holding me?”
Yu Heyi thought Chi Ruixi was being a bit silly. She played with Chi Ruixi’s curly hair, chuckling as she looked into her eyes. Then she pulled Chi Ruixi closer, their bodies fitting perfectly together without any gap.
Yu Heyi laughed softly. “Why’re you being silly? Not only am I holding you, but you’re throwing yourself into my arms.”
Clearly, she was the one being naughty, yet she said Chi Ruixi was throwing herself at her. Chi Ruixi said shyly, “I’m hungry. Let’s eat first.”
Knowing she was embarrassed, Yu Heyi didn’t intend to keep holding her. If Chi Ruixi was hungry, they should eat.
Though she felt herself losing control—the inhibitor had worn off, and she’d need another dose soon.
Neither mentioned cultivating feelings or whether they were together; they just followed their hearts and let things flow.
Before going for the inhibitor, Yu Heyi stole another kiss on Chi Ruixi’s cheek—soft and smooth like jelly. One kiss wasn’t enough; she wanted another, but Chi Ruixi covered her mouth, her voice a bit whiny. “I’m hungry. Let’s eat first.”
Though she wanted to kiss her, she couldn’t bear letting Chi Ruixi go hungry. Yu Heyi left the kitchen, muttering, “I have to go get the inhibitor. What a hassle. It’d be better if we lived together.”
She glanced at Chi Ruixi, noticing her earlobes redden, and asked again, “What do you think? Live together?”
Chi Ruixi bit her lip, her eyes dodging, clearly shy. She wouldn’t refuse Yu Heyi—if she wanted to move in, she could. Why ask like that?
“We’ll talk after dinner.”
Yu Heyi smiled. Even if Chi Ruixi didn’t answer directly, it was close enough. She just wanted to tease her, seeing her shy.
Before leaving, Yu Heyi took the pot out and set it on the table. After she left, Chi Ruixi brought out the cleaned vegetables, meat, and seafood, making two trips to get everything on the table. Then she sat quietly, waiting for Yu Heyi to return.
If Yu Heyi wanted her, Chi Ruixi wouldn’t refuse. But since she said she was hungry, Yu Heyi didn’t want to delay her meal, even though she was burning up. She went back to her place, grabbed the inhibitor, and injected it.
At Chi Ruixi’s, she had nearly lost control, almost releasing her pheromones to entice Chi Ruixi.
After calming down, Yu Heyi felt better and returned to Chi Ruixi’s place. She hadn’t locked the door, so Yu Heyi walked right in.
Inside, she saw only the dishes on the table—Chi Ruixi wasn’t there.
As Yu Heyi wondered, Chi Ruixi came out of the bedroom, wearing an extra jacket.
“Ruixi, where are you going?”
“I have something to deal with. I need to go home.” Chi Ruixi’s expression was cold. Yu Heyi didn’t know what happened but grew serious.
“What’s wrong? I’ll drive you.” Yu Heyi placed her hand on Chi Ruixi’s.
Chi Ruixi looked up at her, her anger softening. Her mother had called, saying she hadn’t been home in a while and had to come back tonight. Chi Ruixi refused without thinking, but Old Madam Chi said if she didn’t, she shouldn’t expect to teach or see “that cook.”
Clearly, she meant Yu Heyi. Though Chi Ruixi knew her mother couldn’t do anything to Yu Heyi, she was instinctively worried. Going back wouldn’t hurt.
Chi Ruixi hesitated but declined Yu Heyi’s offer. It was better if she went alone. If her mother saw Yu Heyi drop her off, who knows what she’d do.
But Yu Heyi insisted.
“It’s late. I’m not comfortable letting you go alone.”
Finally, Chi Ruixi nodded.
Yu Heyi grabbed her jacket from the sofa, took Chi Ruixi’s hand, and headed out.
She drove steadily and quickly—only slightly faster than Chi Ruixi would’ve, since she couldn’t ignore traffic lights.
They reached the Chi family mansion near 9 p.m. Yu Heyi turned off the engine and asked, “Should I wait for you?”
“I probably won’t be back tonight.”
Yu Heyi wasn’t thrilled. She knew it was late and Chi Ruixi likely wouldn’t return with her, but… she just had to ask.
“Call me when you’re coming back. I’ll pick you up.”
Chi Ruixi nodded and said okay.
Just before getting out, she turned back and quickly kissed Yu Heyi’s cheek. It was so fast Yu Heyi barely reacted before Chi Ruixi moved to leave.
After two steps, Chi Ruixi came back and knocked on the window.
“Eat the food when you get back. My house code is 0925.” Her face seemed to redden, and she jogged off.
“0925…” Yu Heyi muttered the numbers, feeling they were familiar. Looking at Chi Ruixi entering the gate, it hit her.
Holy crap, isn’t that my birthday?
When Chi Ruixi entered the Chi house, she saw her mother and sister in the living room. She didn’t know if her sister was there when her mother called or if Chi Shengxi had revealed her relationship with Yu Heyi.
Chi Ruixi gave a slight smirk and sat on the sofa across from Old Madam Chi.
Chi Shengxi was startled when Chi Ruixi entered, glanced at their expressionless mother, then at Chi Ruixi, and said, “Why’re you back?”
Her words made Chi Ruixi’s gaze turn puzzled, then understanding.
“I didn’t know you were coming back. I just got here too.”
Chi Ruixi nodded, acknowledging her, and asked, “Where’s Xiao Ying?”
Old Madam Chi spoke up.
“I told Xiao Ying there was something at home, so she doesn’t need to come back this week.”
Something? Chi Ruixi chewed on the word, vaguely guessing her mother’s intentions. Before she could ask, Chi Shengxi scoffed, “Something? What could be so important to hide from Xiao Ying?”
Old Madam Chi glanced at her, clearly displeased with her tone but didn’t comment. She explained, “Today’s about Ruixi’s marriage. No need for a kid to be involved.”
She stopped looking at Chi Shengxi and turned to Chi Ruixi.
“Who brought you here?”
Chi Ruixi smiled faintly and answered, “Don’t you already know?”
Old Madam Chi smiled too, but it was clearly fake.
“Then you should know I won’t let you marry an alpha like that.”
“What kind of alpha should I marry, then? One like you?” Chi Ruixi met her eyes, a hint of disdain in her gaze.
“What’s that look?”
“Don’t you understand?” Chi Ruixi laughed, her disdain more obvious. She glanced at her sister, whose expression was also sour.
They both recalled how Old Madam Chi treated their mother—cold, violent, as if being an Omega was a sin. Their mother, like an old-fashioned alpha, saw Omegas as mere accessories, fragile, sensitive, insignificant.
“I’m talking about your marriage. You can’t be with someone like that because…” Old Madam Chi didn’t finish, but everyone knew why.
Because an alpha like that was of no use to the Chi family.
