After Going on a Blind Date With My Omega Love Rival (ABO, GL) - Chapter 47
Chapter 47
Obviously, Yu Heyi couldn’t solve it.
Chi Ying couldn’t solve it either. During the three days of exams, Zhan Yuan still barely paid attention to her, sometimes even pretending not to see her. At first, Chi Ying was angry, but as her anger faded, she kept thinking about Zhan Yuan’s red eyes.
Then she started feeling guilty. Maybe she really had upset Zhan Yuan badly.
During those three days, the Omega who brought her food still delivered breakfast every day, but Chi Ying refused each time. And every time she refused, Zhan Yuan saw it but said nothing.
Chi Ying tried talking to her, but Zhan Yuan was either visibly annoyed or cold-faced. Chi Ying felt frustrated and had no idea what to do.
On top of that, she had to deal with her aunt and “uncle” flaunting their affection.
Ever since the summer camp was confirmed, Yu Heyi, afraid Chi Ruixi wouldn’t take her along, had been making her presence known, even showing off their affection in front of Chi Ying.
Chi Ying was super annoyed, but Chi Ruixi always indulged Yu Heyi’s attempts to please her.
…Chi Ying felt that, at her young age, she was truly experiencing the world’s malice—her best friend ignoring her on one side, and her aunt’s lovey-dovey behavior on the other.
“Aunt, can you get Uncle to chill a bit?” Right after Yu Heyi added extra food to Chi Ruixi’s plate, Chi Ying couldn’t take it anymore.
But her aunt was clearly enjoying it.
These past few days, Chi Ruixi’s smiles seemed more frequent than in the entire past year.
“Don’t you think she’s cute?” After saying this, Chi Ruixi’s gaze clearly went past Chi Ying. Chi Ying turned to look.
The two were making eyes at each other, with her stuck in the middle.
“Aunt, last time Grandma didn’t let me go home. Was something up?”
At that, Chi Ruixi’s smiling face turned cold, her mood visibly souring. Chi Ying realized she might have said something wrong, but what could she do?
Her grandma was indeed a problem.
“She wanted me to go on a blind date.” Chi Ruixi lowered her head, poking at her rice, and said glumly to Chi Ying.
Growing up in such a family, Chi Ying had long known this would happen. When she first learned Chi Ruixi and Yu Heyi were together, she was happy for her aunt.
But the old lady at home wouldn’t be happy for her aunt and would definitely try to break them up.
“Aunt, if only I were older.” Chi Ying’s mood sank. If she were grown, she could protect her aunt, keep her from marrying someone she didn’t like, or even going on blind dates.
But Chi Ruixi shook her head at her words. “Don’t say silly things. You can’t grow up overnight, and even if you did, you couldn’t change her mind.”
“What about Chi Shengxi? Can’t she do something?” Chi Ying said, a bit resentfully. She might not be grown, but her mom was. Why couldn’t she help her aunt?
“Ouch…” Before she finished, Chi Ying felt a sting on her head. Chi Ruixi had hit her with chopsticks, sternly saying, “How can you call your mom by her name?”
Facing Chi Ruixi, Chi Ying didn’t dare argue. She quietly lowered her head to eat, not wanting to talk about it anymore.
So annoying.
She didn’t even feel like a mom. Why call her that?
Seeing Chi Ying’s aggrieved look, Chi Ruixi softened. She reached out to pat Chi Ying’s hair, coaxing her like when she was little. “Little Ying, no matter what, she’s your mom. You shouldn’t call her by her name.”
“I know, Aunt.” Comforted, Chi Ying became much more docile. Then she picked a piece of braised pork—lean meat—from her plate and awkwardly said, “Aunt, you’ve lost weight lately. Eat more meat.”
Chi Ruixi smiled, eating the meat Chi Ying gave her.
Her sweet niece always remembered her tastes—no fatty meat—and was so thoughtful.
“Little Ying, no matter what, I won’t give in so easily. Don’t worry about this. You have your last exam this afternoon. Do well.”
“Okay, Aunt.”
Comforted, Chi Ying was in a decent mood all afternoon. During the exam, Zhan Yuan sat to her left-front. After finishing her answers, Chi Ying stared at Zhan Yuan, thinking, maybe she should apologize again?
If she was sincere enough, Zhan Yuan might forgive her, right?
But after the exam, before she could talk to Zhan Yuan, Zhan Yuan was the first to leave. Chi Ying followed, only to see an Omega chatting with Zhan Yuan in the hallway. Zhan Yuan seemed in a great mood.
The Omega was a guy, kind of handsome. Chi Ying recognized him—a top student in grade two with a dimple that stood out when he smiled.
What was he doing with Zhan Yuan?
An Omega approaching a future alpha???
Did he like Zhan Yuan?
No way! Even if Zhan Yuan would become a cool alpha, she couldn’t date so young. Imagining scary scenarios, Chi Ying quickly stepped between them, standing protectively in front of Zhan Yuan, glaring at the male Omega.
“What do you want with Zhan Yuan?”
The male Omega was half a head taller, so Chi Ying had to look up, but her fierce demeanor didn’t waver.
He was clearly startled. Chi Ying had appeared too suddenly, too fast. He hadn’t processed it before she was standing between them.
Then, Chi Ying watched his face turn bright red.
Frowning, she looked at him, confused.
One second, two seconds, and on the third, Zhan Yuan walked away behind her.
“Hey, Zhan Yuan, don’t go!” Chi Ying started to chase, but the male Omega grabbed her sleeve. She whipped around, snapping fiercely, “What do you want?!”
He flinched, clearly startled, and let go.
Now free, Chi Ying chased after Zhan Yuan like a wild horse, but Zhan Yuan didn’t look back.
Passing the office, Zhan Yuan saw Yu Heyi, smiled at her, and ran past. Before Yu Heyi could react, Chi Ying came running too.
“Chi Ying, what game are you guys playing?”
At that moment, Chi Ying had no patience to answer Yu Heyi. She huffed, “I’m not playing. Gotta go.”
Then she dashed off like a puff of smoke.
Yu Heyi blinked, obviously unable to grasp the inner world of a teenager.
She waited at the door a bit longer until Chi Ruixi came out. Yu Heyi stepped forward to hold her hand, about to intertwine their fingers, when Chi Ruixi shook her off. Confused, Yu Heyi looked at her rejected hand, then at Chi Ruixi.
She noticed Chi Ruixi glancing around, then relaxing as if relieved.
Yu Heyi roughly understood why and found Chi Ruixi’s reaction kind of cute. She grabbed her hand again, smiling. “School’s out. No one’s around. Why’re you so timid?”
Yu Heyi’s body was warmer than hers, her hands especially so. Chi Ruixi actually liked it, but…
“I’m just worried. It’d be bad if students saw.”
Yu Heyi pouted, knowing Chi Ruixi was shy, and pulled her along.
“Then let’s hurry so no one sees.” The teasing in her eyes was too obvious, and Chi Ruixi’s face reddened as she let herself be led.
While driving, Yu Heyi suddenly saw Chi Ying chasing Zhan Yuan on the roadside. Steering with one hand, she said to Chi Ruixi, “Your little niece and her childhood friend still haven’t made up?”
“Childhood friend?” Chi Ruixi blinked at her. What a weird term. Then, following her gaze, she saw Chi Ying and Zhan Yuan.
“You know, the one always hanging out with Chi Ying.”
“You mean Zhan Yuan? Probably… still not made up…” Chi Ruixi paused, resting her chin, and continued, “I feel like they’re kind of like…”
“Dating!” Yu Heyi finished her sentence, adding, “I think so too. They’re always so clingy, then fighting over something.”
Since learning Chi Ying was Chi Ruixi’s niece, Yu Heyi had paid attention to her and noticed how Chi Ying and Zhan Yuan were often inseparable. Back then, she already thought they seemed like they were dating.
“Little Ying told me Zhan Yuan will probably differentiate into an alpha.”
“Can’t say for sure, right? You predicted beta, but ended up an Omega.”
At that, Chi Ruixi frowned. It made some sense, but… could there really be that many coincidences? Was everyone’s prediction off?
“If she still differentiates into an alpha, how can they be together?”
Yu Heyi looked at her in disbelief. …Was Teacher Chi this old-fashioned?
Chi Ruixi, puzzled by the look, asked, “What’s wrong?”
“Even if she’s an alpha, so what? AA or OO relationships aren’t rare these days. Why’re you so conservative?” Then she muttered under her breath, “Old fogy…”
Hearing this, Chi Ruixi’s eyes narrowed. She reached for Yu Heyi’s arm, pretending to pinch her, and said sternly, “Who’re you calling an old fogy?”
“No, no, Sister Chi, my bad! I’m the fogy!” If she could, Yu Heyi would’ve raised both hands in surrender. These past few days, Chi Ruixi had really tamed her.
She’d get physical at the slightest disagreement.
“Hmph~”
Chi Ruixi pulled her hand back, then patted Yu Heyi’s arm, soothing her. “I like you calling me Sister Chi. Good girl~ little sister.”
Yu Heyi scoffed inwardly. Just two years older. Was starting school two years later something to brag about?
But she didn’t dare say it, afraid of another pinch.
She obediently said again, “Sister Chi~”
Chi Ruixi ate it up, ruffling Yu Heyi’s ponytail. “So good~”
“So, Sister Chi, you taking me to summer camp?” Yu Heyi blinked at her.
Sister Chi pretended to think, then said, “If you’re even better, I might take you.”
“Really? Then, Sister Chi, I’m taking you to eat something good.”
Yu Heyi floored the gas and drove Chi Ruixi to a barbecue stall they often visited.
Seeing the stall, Chi Ruixi’s lips twitched. She mentally roasted Yu Heyi—always either grilled meat or barbecue.
