After Going on a Blind Date With My Omega Love Rival (ABO, GL) - Chapter 52
Chapter 52
When Chi Ruixi woke up in the morning, she looked down and saw Chi Ying clinging tightly to her. Though Chi Ying was now taller than her, the way she slept next to her was the same as when she was little.
Her head was buried in Chi Ruixi’s chest, arms around her waist, in a very dependent position.
Chi Ruixi touched her soft, fair cheek. Maybe because of differentiation or growing up, Chi Ying’s features had become sharper, not like the soft, chubby little ball she was as a child. But… looking at the kid she raised, she still found her adorable no matter what.
After stroking Chi Ying’s face for a bit, Chi Ruixi grabbed her phone, planning to get up. But as soon as she moved, Chi Ying stirred, frowning slightly, looking a bit unhappy. She rubbed against Chi Ruixi’s arm and fell back asleep. Not wanting to wake her again, Chi Ruixi slowly, carefully slid her arm out and got out of bed.
There were two unread messages on her phone, both from Yu Heyi. Since Chi Ying had cried for a long time last night, they slept late. It was already past 9 a.m., and the first day of summer vacation started with sleeping in.
Yu Heyi, on the other hand, woke up earlier. The first message was sent at 7:30 a.m., the second just before 9, both asking if they were awake.
Chi Ruixi closed the door and went to the living room to call Yu Heyi. The call was picked up quickly, Yu Heyi’s voice carrying a hint of joy, “Awake? Little lazy pig.”
Chi Ruixi mumbled, “I’m not a lazy pig.” Though her words were a protest, her tone had an obvious coyness.
That tone made Yu Heyi’s heart beat faster. A soft, sweet Chi Ruixi was just too cute.
So lovably awkward.
Yu Heyi’s voice softened as she asked, “What do you want for breakfast? I’ll make it for you.”
Chi Ruixi seemed to think for a moment, letting out a soft “Hmm…” sound.
So cute, so cute. At that moment, even if Chi Ruixi said she wanted something weird, Yu Heyi would find a way to make it.
“I want those egg pancakes… the kind they used to sell at the school gate.”
Yu Heyi paused, then blurted out, “Jianbing guozi?”
Chi Ruixi thought for a second and said, “Maybe? I’m not sure.”
“That’s it. Wait for me,” Yu Heyi said confidently. But after hanging up, she felt a bit stumped. With what she had at home, she could barely make a plain egg pancake.
Where was she supposed to get youtiao and all that other stuff?
So Yu Heyi went downstairs to the breakfast shop, bought youtiao, sausages, and other things, and came back to make jianbing guozi for Chi Ruixi.
It was her first time making it. She wasn’t very familiar with this kind of food, but recently, she’d learned a bit from hanging out with Li Li.
So far, she only knew how to make xiaolongbao.
Then she decisively called Li Li, but hung up after one ring.
It’s the first day of vacation—probably not great to bother someone, right?
Yu Heyi was about to put down her phone and figure it out herself when Li Li called back.
“Hey, Xiao Yu, what’s up? I didn’t hear the phone earlier,” Li Li said, sounding like she was outside, with some noise and kids’ voices in the background.
“Oh, it’s nothing. Are you out having fun?”
Li Li’s voice was excited, clearly smiling, “Yeah, out with my wife and kid.”
Hearing that, Yu Heyi thought better of bothering her…
“Have fun then, it’s not a big deal.”
They were pretty close, so Li Li’s tone got casual, “Oh, come on, don’t be shy. Just say it.”
In the end, Yu Heyi obediently explained her situation, and with Li Li’s guidance, she finished the breakfast.
“Thanks so much for the help. I took up so much of your time. I’ll treat you to a meal sometime.”
“Don’t mention it. Making breakfast for your girlfriend?”
“Uh… yeah.”
“Is it Teacher Chi…?” Li Li’s tone was so gossipy that Yu Heyi felt teased. She stammered for a bit before hanging up.
By the time she finished cooking, it was almost 10 a.m. Yu Heyi called Chi Ruixi to tell her breakfast was ready.
“Is Chi Ying up?”
“She’s up, washing up. Just come over.”
After hanging up, Chi Ruixi thought about it and went out. As she stepped out, Yu Heyi was just coming over.
“How are you so fast? I was just going to tell you to eat at your place.”
“No worries, I brought everything. Isn’t Chi Ying still washing up?”
Chi Ruixi didn’t say more and helped Yu Heyi bring the stuff over. When she saw the jianbing guozi, she was surprised. She’d only mentioned it casually…
“You even know how to make this?” Chi Ruixi’s expression had a hint of admiration, and Yu Heyi was practically floating. Being looked at like that by her Omega.
How could she not float?
But she kept her face calm and said, “Psh, it’s nothing.”
Her pride was obvious, completely forgetting that Li Li had taught her for nearly half an hour. She took all the credit.
Chi Ruixi praised her, and then Chi Ying did too.
“Uncle, you’re seriously amazing.”
She made six jianbing guozi, just in case it wasn’t enough. And… it wasn’t too much.
Since Chi Ying was growing, she ate three by herself. After two, she was a bit embarrassed to keep eating, but her “I’m not full” expression was obvious to both Chi Ruixi and Yu Heyi.
Yu Heyi was about to give her portion to Chi Ying, but Chi Ruixi stopped her hand, “Give her mine. I don’t eat much.”
That comment… made it sound like Yu Heyi ate a lot?
She only ate a little more than Chi Ruixi, okay?
So Chi Ruixi gave her portion to Chi Ying. Chi Ying was shy at first, but once she started eating, she couldn’t stop.
“Uncle, the sweet radish in this is so good.”
Yu Heyi loved that side dish but worried they wouldn’t like it. Seems it was a hit?
Chi Ruixi was eating happily too.
Well, Chi Ruixi’s enjoyment was the most important.
And she kept smiling at Yu Heyi while eating, even winking with those pretty eyes. Yu Heyi stared at the mole under her eye, a bit dazed, then instinctively swallowed… and got teased by Chi Ying.
“Uncle, why are you swallowing while holding a jianbing guozi?” Her eyes mischievously glanced at Chi Ruixi.
Chi Ruixi, embarrassed, glared at Chi Ying and said, “Can’t even food shut you up? Then don’t eat.” She reached for the uneaten jianbing guozi in front of Chi Ying. Chi Ying quickly grabbed it, took a bite, and made whimpering sounds. She looked at Chi Ruixi cautiously, swallowing before saying softly, “I was wrong, Auntie.”
Yu Heyi found their bickering amusing. She hadn’t expected Chi Ying to be so scared of Chi Ruixi. Good thing she hadn’t upset Chi Ruixi today—and even got a wink.
She took a bite of her jianbing guozi and suddenly thought it tasted better than before.
After breakfast, the three sat on the couch chatting. But as they talked, Yu Heyi felt something was off. She’d thought Chi Ying was only staying a few days, but then they started talking about buying daily necessities.
“Auntie, I don’t have anything except pajamas. I think I need to buy everything. One set of pajamas isn’t enough, right?” Hearing Chi Ying, Yu Heyi internally scoffed, Needing multiple pajamas for a few days?
But then Chi Ruixi nodded, took out her phone, and asked, “Online or go shopping?”
“Hmm… let’s go shopping. I want to walk around.”
They were chatting excitedly, completely ignoring Yu Heyi nearby.
She was starting to feel like a third wheel.
She looked at Chi Ruixi, then at Chi Ying, wanting to say something but holding back.
She wanted to ask what was going on.
Since she was sitting next to Chi Ruixi, who was focused on Chi Ying, Chi Ying noticed her first.
“Uncle, any suggestions?”
I don’t deserve an opinion.
When Chi Ying spoke, Chi Ruixi looked at her too, waiting for her to speak. Yu Heyi scratched her head awkwardly and said dryly, “I just wanted to ask where we’re going shopping.”
Maybe she was too obvious, because Chi Ruixi reacted, explaining, “Xiao Ying said she wants to stay here for the whole summer vacation.”
Gulp… Yu Heyi swallowed loudly.
A whole summer vacation here…
How was she supposed to keep developing her relationship with Chi Ruixi? If their relationship stalled… Yu Heyi shook her head, telling herself there’s no stalling. She and Chi Ruixi were already married, with plenty of time to grow their relationship later.
It’s just… having a big third wheel around all the time was annoying.
Chi Ruixi and Chi Ying watched Yu Heyi, who was lost in thought one moment, shaking her head the next, biting her lip…
She looked kind of silly.
“What’s wrong?” Chi Ruixi asked first. Is she actually silly?
“Yeah, Uncle, what’s up?” Before Yu Heyi could answer, Chi Ying suddenly realized, “Am I disturbing you and Auntie?”
How could Yu Heyi admit the truth?
She lied through her teeth, “No way. I was thinking we could go on a trip this summer.”
Her words made Chi Ying the happiest, who jumped up from the couch, exclaiming, “Uncle, I’m fine with anywhere! I’m not picky, hehe.”
Yu Heyi was startled by her enthusiasm. Chi Ruixi gave her a helpless smile. This was more like the normal Chi Ying—a kid, after all.
Then Chi Ying’s tone shifted, “Auntie, I heard there’s a new mall near the school. Let’s go there? They say it has an ice rink. I haven’t been in ages.”
Talking about fun, Chi Ying’s eyes sparkled. Chi Ruixi’s heart softened. This was how Chi Ying should be at her age. Last night’s Chi Ying…
Better not show up again.
So the three got ready to go out. Yu Heyi and Chi Ying were quick and waited at the door for Chi Ruixi. Soon, Chi Ruixi came out wearing earrings and a haze-blue jumpsuit that made her skin look even fairer.
As Chi Ruixi grabbed her bag to leave, her phone rang. She checked it—it was a WeChat from Chi Shengxi.
“Got time to meet?”
