After Going on a Blind Date With My Omega Love Rival (ABO, GL) - Chapter 55
Chapter 55
“Chi Ying.”
“Huh?”
Yu Heyi’s sudden voice startled Chi Ying, who was zoning out. She turned to look at her, puzzled, and asked, “What’s up, Uncle?”
“Tell me about your aunt, about her past.”
“The past?”
Yu Heyi nodded and said, “Yeah, the past.” Then, with a slightly awkward expression, she added, “Even though… your aunt and I were high school classmates, I really didn’t know her well back then.”
Her words surprised Chi Ying. She didn’t know much about their relationship, only that they were dating, and her aunt never talked about it.
She hadn’t expected them to be childhood sweethearts, just like her and Zhan Yuan.
Talking about Chi Ruixi with Yu Heyi—could she maybe get some juicy gossip about her aunt?
“Uncle, what do you want to know?”
“Hmm…” Yu Heyi thought for a moment and said, “Everything.”
“Uh… where do I even start?” Chi Ying scratched her head, feeling a bit stumped. She didn’t know a ton about her aunt, and with such a vague request, where should she begin?
“Start with when your aunt differentiated into an Omega,” Yu Heyi suggested after thinking.
“Oh, that’s easier.”
“My aunt differentiated a bit later than most people, and you probably know she was predicted to be a beta when she was young, right?”
Yu Heyi nodded. Not only did she know, but she’d also seen Chi Ruixi as a rival for years because of it…
But that wasn’t worth mentioning.
Chi Ying continued, “Our family really values alphas, so even though my aunt was predicted as a beta, she wasn’t treated well. Actually, it was the same for me when I was little. I was predicted to be a beta too.”
Hearing this, Yu Heyi was surprised.
“Your family’s odds are…?”
“Yeah, it’s kind of weird. I differentiated into an alpha, and my aunt into an Omega.”
At this point, Chi Ying’s expression grew somber.
“Actually… after I differentiated into an alpha, I realized how ironic it is. Because of my alpha status, I got treatment I never had before. But my aunt… she never got that.”
Listening to Chi Ying, Yu Heyi’s brows furrowed deeper. She couldn’t quite understand how a family like this could still exist in today’s society.
The AO equality movement had been around for years. Omegas weren’t like they used to be—aside from the risks of removing a mark, Omegas and alphas were almost the same.
But fundamentally, the situation for Omegas and alphas was still unequal.
Because of this inequality, Yu Heyi felt Omegas should be cherished even more.
How could anyone… look down on someone just for being an Omega?
“Also, Uncle, I grew up with my aunt when I was little. But after she went to high school, she boarded there, so I don’t know much about that time.”
What Chi Ying didn’t know, Yu Heyi knew a bit about. Back then, Chi Ruixi wasn’t noticeable at all. Otherwise, Yu Heyi wouldn’t have said during their blind date that Chi Ruixi must’ve had plastic surgery.
After spending more time together, she realized she’d been seeing Chi Ruixi through a bad filter back then.
She’d thought Chi Ruixi wasn’t good-looking.
Clearly, she’d been blind…
Chi Ruixi was really beautiful, especially those eyes and that tear mole she adored.
So she didn’t get why, in high school, Chi Ruixi hid her eyes like that.
“Uncle, I answered so many of your questions, but you haven’t answered mine!”
“Huh? What question?” Yu Heyi clearly didn’t remember what Chi Ying had asked, her mind stuck on Chi Ruixi’s tear mole.
“How did you and my aunt meet?”
“A blind date.”
“A blind date???” Chi Ying’s face was full of disbelief. She’d expected some epic love story.
Like childhood sweethearts, unaware of their love when young, reuniting years later or something.
But a blind date?
“Yeah, a blind date, and then we just… developed from there.” Yu Heyi dared to mention the blind date but not that she slept with her aunt the first day.
And that it was her dear aunt who initiated it.
Though it was just because of her heat cycle.
“So… did you and my aunt ever do that?” Chi Ying suddenly leaned closer, her voice low, her face flushed.
As a young alpha in puberty, she was curious about alpha-Omega stuff.
Asking this was a bit embarrassing for Chi Ying, but she couldn’t ask anyone else, only Yu Heyi.
Yu Heyi hadn’t caught up with Chi Ying’s quick topic shift.
“Do what?”
“You know, that!” Chi Ying winked at her. Yu Heyi suddenly got it.
…But it was kind of hard to talk about, right?
Discussing this with a minor felt a bit much. Chi Ruixi would definitely be upset if she knew.
But Chi Ying was persistent. Maybe out of guilt or something, she glanced around, then whispered even lower, “Like, have you and my aunt done that kind of thing?”
What was with teens these days, being so blunt?
Yu Heyi was about to answer when she bit her tongue. Then, out of the corner of her eye, she saw Chi Ruixi.
Her face looked cold.
Oh no, Chi Ruixi wouldn’t think she was corrupting her niece, would she?
“Chi Ying, what kind of thing do you want to know about?” Chi Ruixi’s voice rang out.
Hearing it, Chi Ying froze, then slowly turned around.
Ugh, getting caught by the person in question was so embarrassing.
“I-I-I… I just wanted to know… if you and Uncle held hands!”
“Pfft…” Yu Heyi couldn’t hold back a laugh at Chi Ying’s words. This kid was really pulling that?
Who’d believe that?
Chi Ruixi narrowed her eyes, looking at Chi Ying’s nervous demeanor, but didn’t pursue the topic further.
“Hungry? Want to go eat soon?”
Yu Heyi had been expecting some gossip, maybe a scene where Chi Ruixi scolded her niece, but… this indulgent?
“I’m hungry, Auntie, so hungry!!!” Seeing her aunt wasn’t mad, Chi Ying ran to her, acting cute and obedient.
Yu Heyi was stunned. Chi Ruixi’s smile at Chi Ying was so gentle. She even pinched Chi Ying’s cheek and asked what she wanted to eat, saying she’d take her.
Excuse me, was she invisible?
Was what she wanted to eat unimportant?
After hearing about Chi Ruixi’s childhood, Yu Heyi had vowed to treat her better. And now Chi Ruixi was treating her like this?
Talk about blatant favoritism.
“I want barbecue!”
“Grilled meat works too!”
Yu Heyi’s voice was a bit loud, and both turned to look at her. Then… Chi Ruixi ignored her, and Chi Ying followed suit.
Unwilling to give up, Yu Heyi ran to Chi Ruixi and said, “Don’t you guys want barbecue or grilled meat?”
Seeing her enthusiastically pitching barbecue and grilled meat, Chi Ruixi rolled her eyes and said, “You’re always eating barbecue or grilled meat. Don’t you get tired of it?”
Yu Heyi blinked, looked at Chi Ying, and said, “Chi Ying, do you get tired of it?”
Caught off guard, Chi Ying glanced at her aunt and said quietly, “Actually, I want grilled meat too.”
“Then let’s go eat.”
Chi Ruixi agreed… to Chi Ying’s request.
At dinner, Yu Heyi felt the grilled meat she usually loved wasn’t as tasty.
Why was it okay when Chi Ying suggested it, but not her???
Sitting across from Chi Ruixi and Chi Ying, watching Chi Ruixi wrap meat in lettuce and feed it to Chi Ying.
At that moment, Yu Heyi could only channel her frustration into eating, grilling a plate of beef ribs and listening to the sizzling sound, which improved her mood a bit.
She piled pieces into her bowl, dipped them in her secret sauce, and ate.
The more she ate, the happier she felt. She grabbed some for herself and tossed a few pieces to Chi Ying.
But she pettily didn’t give any to Chi Ruixi.
When only one piece of meat was left, Yu Heyi reached for it, but Chi Ruixi snatched it. She watched the grilled beef land in Chi Ruixi’s bowl.
Pathetically, Yu Heyi swallowed.
Then Chi Ruixi wrapped the saucy meat in lettuce. Yu Heyi couldn’t bear to watch and turned to another plate of secret-marinated beef.
Just as she was about to grill it, a green lettuce wrap appeared before her, held by a fair hand.
Chi Ruixi was feeding her!!!
Yu Heyi’s heart leaped. She opened her mouth wide and ate the whole thing.
Her mouth was so big that her lips brushed Chi Ruixi’s fingers. Startled, Chi Ruixi pulled her hand back, instinctively glancing at Chi Ying. Seeing Chi Ying watching, her face flushed. She grabbed her chopsticks and flipped the grilling meat, avoiding Yu Heyi’s gaze.
She was too embarrassed to look at Chi Ying, unsure if she’d been seen.
“Auntie, I’ll wrap one for you too!” Chi Ying picked up some lettuce, added lean beef and a piece of chili, and fed it to Chi Ruixi.
Chi Ruixi ate with small bites, which Chi Ying knew, so she made it small enough to fit in one bite. But Chi Ruixi chewed slowly, taking a while. Yu Heyi stared at her puffed cheeks, finding it cute.
After Chi Ruixi swallowed, Yu Heyi wrapped another for her.
Chi Ruixi felt a bit overwhelmed by the two feeding her but didn’t refuse Yu Heyi’s offer.
She bit carefully, half-opening her mouth to take the lettuce wrap.
Yu Heyi felt a bit disappointed.
Meanwhile, oblivious Chi Ying was seriously eating her meat.
When Yu Heyi and Chi Ruixi were almost done, Chi Ying was still eating.
“I’ll go pay,” Yu Heyi said.
“I’ll do it.”
Yu Heyi ignored her and went to settle the bill.
Chi Ying’s clean-plate mission continued…
“Teacher Chi?”
Chi Ruixi’s attention was on Chi Ying eating when she heard someone call her. She turned to find the voice but didn’t see anyone familiar. Puzzled, she turned back.
Then she saw Teacher Zhao standing across from her.
“Teacher Chi, here for dinner?”
“Yes, Teacher Zhao,” Chi Ruixi replied politely.
Chi Ying, who’d just finished eating, looked up reluctantly and said, “Teacher Zhao.”
She thought, What a nuisance. If not for dinner, why else would we be here?
