After Going on a Blind Date With My Omega Love Rival (ABO, GL) - Chapter 56
Chapter 56
Teacher Zhao smiled and greeted the two, either oblivious to their sour expressions or simply not caring, and sat down across from them.
“I’m out for dinner with some teachers from school today,” Teacher Zhao said with a grin, slicking back his hair in what he thought was a charming gesture.
Teacher Zhao was in his late thirties, nearly forty, but still in decent shape. Dressed in a shirt and dress pants, he looked somewhat presentable—until he opened his mouth or did something sleazy.
He seemed like a textbook charming scoundrel.
But he insisted on being greasy. Chi Ying was practically gagging, glancing at her aunt, subtly pursing her lips, and reluctantly muttering, “Teacher Zhao.”
She knew her aunt was beautiful. Before differentiating into an Omega, Chi Ruixi’s style was frankly dreadful, but growing up with her, Chi Ying always knew her aunt’s true beauty.
After starting university, Chi Ruixi ditched the long bangs for sleek, straight hair, looking pure and captivating. Chi Ying thought her aunt was prettier than anyone she’d ever seen.
But thinking about the male and female alphas who chased Chi Ruixi back then made her cringe.
Her aunt’s physique seemed to attract all the wrong types.
That’s why Chi Ying so readily accepted Yu Heyi as her “uncle.” In her mind, Yu Heyi was leagues better than the others.
Chi Ying glanced at Teacher Zhao again, barely able to hide the disgust in her eyes. As the dean, he was always lecturing people—teachers and students alike. She was thoroughly fed up.
Teacher Zhao’s gaze was fixed on Chi Ruixi, missing the disdain in Chi Ying’s eyes. Even if he’d noticed, he wouldn’t have cared.
Not many knew Chi Ying was Chi Ruixi’s niece. Teacher Zhao did, partly because as a leader, he had access to the teachers’ files, and partly because he was overly focused on Chi Ruixi. He’d even tried cozying up to Chi Ying to get closer to her aunt.
But he found the girl wouldn’t let him near, always giving him a cold face. As a teacher, he couldn’t exactly grovel to a student, could he?
Seemingly unaware of their disinterest, he said with fake familiarity, “Teacher Chi and her niece out for dinner?”
Hearing this, Chi Ruixi frowned, about to say something, but Chi Ying couldn’t hold back.
“My uncle brought me and my aunt to eat.”
So annoying—who’s your niece, ugh!!
Sure enough, after her words, Teacher Zhao’s confident, creepy expression faltered.
His face stiffened, lips moving but no words coming out, lost in who-knows-what thoughts.
“I paid the bill. Shall we go?” Yu Heyi returned from settling the tab.
As she approached, she looked puzzled, eyeing Teacher Zhao’s seat, then Chi Ruixi and Chi Ying, her brows furrowing deeply.
Coming closer, without even glancing at Teacher Zhao clearly, she asked Chi Ruixi, “Ruixi, who’s this?”
“This… is Teacher Zhao from school.”
Teacher Zhao stood, greeting Yu Heyi casually, studying her face before saying as if it clicked, “Oh, aren’t you the one from the cafeteria serving food?”
“That was before. I’m a chef now.”
“And you and Teacher Chi are…” Teacher Zhao forced a smile, thinking, With a job like that, Teacher Chi wouldn’t be interested, right? But he still didn’t want to believe it, though he recalled seeing Yu Heyi at Chi Ruixi’s office door before.
Yu Heyi had already figured out who he was—the guy she met last time at Chi Ruixi’s office. One of Chi Ruixi’s bad suitors.
She walked to Chi Ruixi’s side, grabbed her hand, and waved their clasped hands in front of Teacher Zhao, saying, “I’m Teacher Chi’s alpha.”
Teacher Zhao stared at their interlocked fingers, stunned, and asked Chi Ruixi in disbelief, “Teacher Chi, is she telling the truth?”
Chi Ruixi gripped Yu Heyi’s hand tightly and said openly, “Yes, it’s true. She’s my alpha.”
As if that wasn’t enough, Chi Ying chimed in, “Teacher Zhao, this is my uncle.”
With Chi Ruixi’s bold confirmation and Chi Ying’s backup, Teacher Zhao’s face darkened. He couldn’t linger any longer.
“Well… you guys carry on.”
After Teacher Zhao left, Yu Heyi kept holding Chi Ruixi’s hand. Chi Ruixi tried to pull away gently, but Yu Heyi held on tighter. Chi Ruixi stopped trying and let her hold it.
Chi Ying walked ahead of them. When she wasn’t looking, Yu Heyi whispered in Chi Ruixi’s ear, “You said it yourself—I’m your alpha.”
Chi Ruixi didn’t respond.
Chi Ruixi and Yu Heyi took Chi Ying to buy some daily necessities. The store was dazzling, and Chi Ying quickly got overwhelmed, pulling Chi Ruixi to help her decide what to get.
Yu Heyi trailed behind, looking left and right…
After a while, she realized there wasn’t much to add at home and stopped looking.
She pulled out her phone and played a mini-game.
After walking a bit more, Chi Ying suddenly called, “Uncle, look at this.”
Following Chi Ying’s gaze, Yu Heyi spotted a pair of couple’s mugs—one teal, one pink.
Chi Ruixi was already at the checkout.
“Do you think they’re nice? Should we get them?”
Yu Heyi looked again. They were pretty, but what would she do with a pair?
“I have mugs at home.”
Chi Ying looked at her, exasperated, pulled her closer, and pointed at the mugs. “You and my aunt could use couple’s mugs!”
That… made sense.
But they weren’t living together yet. Wasn’t it a bit early?
…As Yu Heyi hesitated, a hand reached between her and Chi Ying, grabbing the mugs. Yu Heyi tried to stop it but was too late.
She turned and saw Chi Ruixi’s back, holding the two mugs.
Chi Ying stared at Chi Ruixi’s back, then blinked and looked at Yu Heyi.
Suddenly… why did she feel like she was third-wheeling?
Her aunt and uncle’s daily romance was kind of sweet.
When Chi Ruixi returned after paying, Yu Heyi snapped out of it, her eyes glued to the mugs in Chi Ruixi’s shopping bag.
Chi Ying suddenly felt like a spare wheel.
“Auntie, isn’t summer camp coming up? I’ll go see what I can use.” Without waiting for a reply, she ran off.
With Chi Ying gone, Yu Heyi relaxed and pointed at Chi Ruixi’s bag. “Why’d you buy those?”
Her heart raced a bit, anticipating Chi Ruixi’s answer.
Chi Ruixi glanced away and said, “I liked them, so I bought them.”
“But they’re couple’s mugs.”
“So? I can’t buy couple’s mugs?” Chi Ruixi turned back, glaring at Yu Heyi.
Yu Heyi’s smile was sheepish, thinking to herself, It’s not like you can’t.
Just then, the clerk brought another pair of the same mugs and placed them in the same spot.
Yu Heyi quickly grabbed them, hugging them to her chest, and ran to pay under Chi Ruixi’s surprised gaze.
When she returned after paying, Chi Ruixi seemed a bit upset.
“What’s wrong?”
Chi Ruixi stared at the mugs in Yu Heyi’s hands, saying unhappily, “Why’d you buy those?”
“I liked them too,” Yu Heyi replied matter-of-factly.
Chi Ruixi’s eyes widened.
“I already bought them…” Her voice was soft, but Yu Heyi heard clearly.
Still, she couldn’t resist teasing. “What’d you say?”
Knowing Yu Heyi heard her but was teasing, Chi Ruixi stomped her foot in frustration and repeated, “I said, I already bought them!”
“Oh, like that? If you’d said so earlier, I wouldn’t have bought them,” Yu Heyi said, feigning distress.
Chi Ruixi knew she was doing it on purpose, acting all innocent.
“Then we’ll each use our own.”
“No way! Let’s use them together—one at your place, one at mine.”
That way, they’d be couple’s mugs wherever they were.
Yu Heyi suddenly thought her idea was brilliant and added, “Pretty good, right?”
Chi Ruixi huffed, neither agreeing nor disagreeing.
Soon, Chi Ying returned, saw Yu Heyi holding the same mugs as Chi Ruixi, and asked, confused, “Why’d you buy another set?”
Yu Heyi seemed to be waiting for her to ask, waving the mugs in front of Chi Ying. “This way, whether I’m at your aunt’s place or she’s at mine, we’ll have couple’s mugs.”
…Ugh, so much PDA.
Chi Ying felt like she couldn’t stay at her aunt’s anymore.
On the way back, Chi Ruixi and Yu Heyi noticed Chi Ying was noticeably quieter.
Gone was her earlier liveliness; she was glued to her phone the whole way.
The two exchanged a glance, completely clueless about what was wrong.
Chi Ying sat in the back, looking at the two in front, feeling a bit annoyed.
She opened Zhan Yuan’s WeChat and sent a message.
“Have you bought everything for summer camp? I got a bunch of stuff.”
After sending it, she pocketed her phone and stared out the window.
She and Zhan Yuan hadn’t really talked in a while.
They used to chat in person, message on WeChat when apart, and even video call on weekends sometimes.
But lately… Zhan Yuan had been so distant.
She only talked about necessary things, which was so annoying.
Chi Ying kind of missed her.
Staring out the window in a daze, the car neared a commercial street. Chi Ying was lost in thought when she suddenly spotted Zhan Yuan.
Thinking she was imagining things, she rubbed her eyes and looked again.
It was definitely Zhan Yuan.
“Uncle, stop the car.”
Her voice was urgent. Yu Heyi thought something was wrong and quickly pulled over to a corner.
Before they could turn around, Chi Ying opened the door and said, “I have something to do. I’ll head back on my own later.” With that, she shut the door and dashed toward the commercial street.
