After Going on a Blind Date With My Omega Love Rival (ABO, GL) - Chapter 63
Chapter 63
This summer camp was mainly for students about to enter their final year of high school, a last chance to relax. Though the college entrance exam wasn’t as stressful as years ago, it remained a pivotal moment before turning 18, so the school organized this event annually.
There were eight senior classes, each with its own bus, while all the teachers rode together on one bus.
At school, Chi Ruixi and Yu Heyi naturally split from Chi Ying. Yu Heyi stayed by Chi Ruixi’s side, waiting as she took roll, then they headed to the teachers’ bus.
But along the way, Yu Heyi kept grinning, stealing glances at Chi Ruixi.
Chi Ruixi knew why she was smiling.
Yesterday, they’d decided Yu Heyi would drive her SUV today since they needed space for camping gear.
But at the parking lot, Chi Ruixi walked straight to her little Mini. Yu Heyi carried her luggage, leaving her with just a backpack.
Distracted, thinking she was heading to work, she only snapped out of it when Yu Heyi called her. Pausing at the car door, she turned to see Yu Heyi and Chi Ying with bags, her face shifting.
Realizing her mistake, Chi Ruixi pursed her lips, embarrassed, while Yu Heyi laughed at her dazed look.
Chi Ying held back at first, but as Yu Heyi’s laughter grew, she joined in.
Chi Ruixi ignored them, marching to an SUV and saying coldly to Yu Heyi, “Open the door.”
…Sister, that’s not my car.
Yu Heyi pressed the unlock button, and the car to Chi Ruixi’s left beeped.
The moment was painfully awkward.
Chi Ying laughed unapologetically, but Yu Heyi held it together, noticing Chi Ruixi’s expression darken, her face and ears reddening.
Messing up in front of her niece was humiliating…
It wasn’t entirely Chi Ruixi’s fault. Last time they were in the parking lot, Yu Heyi had pointed casually, saying, “For summer camp, let’s take this SUV. It’s big, fits more stuff.”
Back then, Chi Ruixi’s legs were shaky, barely listening, only catching the gist. Plus, the car next to Yu Heyi’s spot was similar—both black SUVs—so her mistake was understandable.
But two blunders in a row were too much for thin-skinned Chi Ruixi.
She stayed silent the whole drive, exuding iciness.
Yu Heyi, driving, didn’t dare speak. Chi Ying, in the back, kept quiet too, bolting once they reached school.
Only Yu Heyi dared tease her after Chi Ying left.
“Had enough laughing?”
Chi Ruixi stopped, annoyed, her lips slightly pouting.
Since switching from wavy to straight black hair, she looked younger, and with this expression, she had an innocent, girlish vibe. Yu Heyi’s imagination ran wild, wanting to ravish her!
How could she keep laughing?
“Um… I just think you’re cute.” Yu Heyi blinked, trying to look earnest and sincere.
But Chi Ruixi, having been teased by her before, spotted the desire in her eyes.
Switching gears fast, huh? Laughing at her one second, then…
“Didn’t you put on a suppressant patch?”
Chi Ruixi’s words made Yu Heyi touch her neck. “I did. Why…” She paused, realizing Chi Ruixi was teasing her.
Caught, Yu Heyi dropped the act, her gaze brazenly scanning Chi Ruixi, as if stripping her bare.
One second mocking her, the next this—Chi Ruixi’s heart raced, instinctively checking around.
Some students and teachers were already on buses, but others were still outside, discussing rules or counting heads…
After learning Yu Heyi wasn’t to be teased, Chi Ruixi got nervous at that look, pursing her lips, dropping the earlier mockery.
She meant to tell Yu Heyi to get on the bus, but before she could, Yu Heyi grabbed her hand.
Instinctively, Chi Ruixi tried to pull away, but Yu Heyi’s grip was too strong.
“Stop teasing me. You know I can’t handle it.”
They were in public, and Yu Heyi wasn’t that shameless. Otherwise, when she realized Chi Ruixi was teasing, she’d have pounced.
So she settled for holding Chi Ruixi’s soft hand, fingers interlaced, rubbing her thumb against Chi Ruixi’s. Chi Ruixi glanced down, her face slightly flushing as if recalling something.
It felt awkward, but she didn’t pull away, letting Yu Heyi’s small gestures slide.
Soon, they reached the bus. Teacher Zhao stood at the door. Chi Ruixi tried to free her hand again, but Yu Heyi held on, even swinging their hands.
It felt like showing off.
Close to Yu Heyi, Chi Ruixi saw her raise an eyebrow, her expression smug and pleased…
Chi Ruixi only wanted to let go because she was shy at school. Being seen was too embarrassing.
But seeing Yu Heyi’s face and recalling Teacher Zhao’s past behavior, she thought it wasn’t bad.
At least it could ward off unwanted suitors.
But bad suitors were bad for a reason—they were persistent.
Teacher Zhao, the rotten peach, either didn’t notice or ignored it, stepping forward with a grin. “Teacher Chi’s here.” He reached for her arm.
As if he didn’t see Yu Heyi, Chi Ruixi’s alpha, standing there.
Chi Ruixi instinctively dodged, but before she could, Yu Heyi pulled her, making her shoulder bump into hers.
Neither spoke, and Teacher Zhao, unfazed, acted like nothing happened. Glancing at Yu Heyi, he said, “Why’d Teacher Chi bring her?”
A pointless question. Yu Heyi raised an eyebrow. “Didn’t they say we could bring family?”
“Yes, but… only legal partners.” He looked at Yu Heyi for the first part, then at Chi Ruixi for the second.
The implication was clear, as if Yu Heyi was some shady fling.
Yu Heyi wasn’t one to take that lying down. She let go of Chi Ruixi’s hand, wrapped an arm around her waist, and, ignoring Teacher Zhao, smiled at Chi Ruixi. “Wife, does the school require a marriage certificate for events?”
That “wife” hit the two people hard.
Chi Ruixi was shy; Teacher Zhao was furious, his glare ready to devour Yu Heyi.
He’d thought Yu Heyi was just a girlfriend—unmarried meant he still had a shot. He couldn’t believe beautiful, high-standard Chi Ruixi would pick someone like Yu Heyi, who didn’t even have a proper job.
But reality hit him hard.
Chi Ruixi wouldn’t embarrass Yu Heyi in public. Bringing her meant she was prepared for this, though being called “wife” was a bit much.
She’d heard it from Yu Heyi’s mom, but not from Yu Heyi herself.
Despite her shyness, she understood Yu Heyi’s intent.
Leaning slightly into Yu Heyi’s embrace, she smiled. “The school has no such rule.”
“Oh~~” Yu Heyi dragged the sound, glancing at Teacher Zhao.
His face looked worse than last time.
No one continued the topic. Other teachers arrived, and Teacher Zhao went to greet them.
Amid the crowd, Yu Heyi and Chi Ruixi boarded.
The bus was mostly senior-year teachers and their families, sitting together. The front rows had younger teachers, a bit rowdy.
Yu Heyi found it noisy, and Chi Ruixi even more so. After greeting familiar teachers, she pulled Yu Heyi to the back, sitting in one of the last rows.
The teachers’ bus wasn’t full, even with some bringing family.
No one was behind Yu Heyi and Chi Ruixi.
Chi Ruixi sat by the window. Yu Heyi stowed their things overhead—Chi Ruixi’s small suitcase and her two bags, one big for luggage, one small for snacks. A smaller backpack stayed by her feet.
Unsure about the trip, Yu Heyi packed plenty of food, including a big bag for Chi Ying.
The bus hadn’t started, so Yu Heyi pulled out snacks, opening a bag of dried mango. “Want some?”
“Didn’t we just have breakfast?”
Yu Heyi retracted her hand, putting the mango back. She wasn’t hungry—just checking if Chi Ruixi wanted any.
To her, trips meant eating, strolling, and playing.
Chi Ruixi had told her it was a three-day, two-night trip to a scenic city near Xijing. Day one was sightseeing, staying at a guesthouse. Day two was mountain climbing and camping. They’d return by noon on day three.
So she packed a lot. Used to traveling for races, she was experienced but still worried about caring for Chi Ruixi.
Since Chi Ruixi didn’t want snacks, she packed them away for later.
With nothing to do, Yu Heyi stared at Chi Ruixi, her gaze so intense it was hard to miss.
“What?”
“Your shirt…” Yu Heyi pointed at the embroidered collar.
Chi Ruixi’s face stiffened, and she lied, “Chi Ying insisted I buy it.”
She couldn’t admit she’d secretly bought it behind Chi Ying’s back.
