After Going on a Blind Date With My Omega Love Rival (ABO, GL) - Chapter 66
Chapter 66
The bus arrived at a guesthouse at the mountain’s base. The school had arranged everything in advance, with rooms assigned and shared in the group chat yesterday. Teachers and students checked in directly, had lunch, and then started the afternoon activities.
The mountain air and environment were far better than the city’s. Soon after getting off, Chi Ruixi heard noisy chatter outside, but Yu Heyi stayed nestled in her arms, unwilling to move.
Chi Ruixi, not strong enough to push her off, gave up and let her cling.
Until Teacher Cheng’s voice rang out: “Where’s Teacher Chi? Still on the bus?”
For safety, they had to do a headcount after disembarking, so it wasn’t odd for Teacher Cheng to call her. Sitting in the back, they weren’t visible from outside, but just hearing the voice made Chi Ruixi uneasy.
Yu Heyi, sensing her discomfort, stopped being clingy and sat up, her eyes clear, nothing like her earlier sticky demeanor. Knowing she was being naughty, Chi Ruixi looked helpless, especially recalling her own words, which brought another wave of embarrassment.
But this shameless woman kissed her cheek and grinned. “I also think our kid should take after you—beautiful.”
Chi Ruixi didn’t respond, just shoved her.
“Hurry up, everyone’s waiting.”
Yu Heyi knew when to quit, obediently following Chi Ruixi off the bus.
She remembered Chi Ruixi coaxing her to “be good,” so she decided to be a good girl today.
When they got off, only Teacher Zhao was there. Teacher Cheng had called for Chi Ruixi to help with the headcount but left after no response.
So, Teacher Zhao, the dean, waited for them.
Teachers counted students, and Teacher Zhao counted teachers. Already annoyed by Yu Heyi’s presence, waiting for them made his face even grimmer.
“Teacher Chi, this is a group activity.”
The implication was clear—they were being antisocial.
Chi Ruixi felt they’d delayed everyone and apologized sincerely. “Sorry, Teacher Zhao.”
But Teacher Zhao wasn’t satisfied, glaring at Yu Heyi. “Teacher Chi, you’ve always been principled. Don’t let unsavory people sway you.”
The “unsavory” person was obviously Yu Heyi.
Teacher Zhao’s face was sour, but Yu Heyi’s was worse. She hadn’t thought much of his first comment—they were late, fair enough.
But the second was too much.
Before Chi Ruixi could speak, Yu Heyi snapped, “Teacher Zhao, who’s unsavory? Me?”
Teacher Zhao gave her a disdainful look, snorting. “I’m talking to Teacher Chi.”
She didn’t care who he was addressing—Yu Heyi genuinely wanted to punch him.
As if sensing her movement, Chi Ruixi pulled her back, facing Teacher Zhao herself.
His words had upset Chi Ruixi too. If Yu Heyi hadn’t spoken, she would have.
“We’re sorry for the delay, but Teacher Zhao, as an educator, you should watch your words. Yu Heyi is my legal partner, my alpha, not some unsavory person.”
Teacher Zhao frowned.
Chi Ruixi was usually gentle, never assertive. He’d flirted with her, even gotten handsy, and she’d only dodged, never confronting him. He assumed she’d stay silent even after his remark.
He hadn’t expected her to snap back, leaving him speechless.
In his eyes, Yu Heyi had only her looks going for her—nothing else compared to him. No job, probably no good family, and too casual, seeming frivolous to him.
She wasn’t his serious, upright type.
They were worlds apart.
Teacher Zhao wasn’t a bad catch—under forty, dean at Xijing, with a solid family background. No wonder he was confident.
But confidence is one thing; arrogance is another.
He fantasized about winning Chi Ruixi, thinking no one was better than him…
“Xiao Zhao, Xiao Chi…”
As the three stood in tension, Du Sheng’s voice came from behind.
Turning, they saw Du Sheng at the guesthouse entrance, in a polo shirt and sweatpants, looking years younger, waving.
He’d driven himself, arriving earlier than the group.
Teacher Zhao reacted fastest to his voice.
Turning, his face was blatantly fawning, nothing like when he spoke to them. Chi Ruixi just nodded, greeted him, and said she needed to do the headcount.
As for Yu Heyi, she gave Du Sheng a look and followed Chi Ruixi.
Heading to their class’s bus, Yu Heyi couldn’t help muttering, “Zhao Dog, living up to his name.”
Chi Ruixi stopped, puzzled. “Zhao Dog?”
Yu Heyi, fuming, had spoken recklessly. Realizing it, she looked at Chi Ruixi guiltily, afraid she’d be mad.
“I… slipped.”
But Chi Ruixi wasn’t angry, just said softly, “I know you’re upset, but don’t talk like that.”
Deep down, she kind of agreed… but it wasn’t right to say.
Yu Heyi could be impulsive like a kid, with some bad habits.
“Do you still smoke?”
Lately, Chi Ruixi hadn’t noticed Yu Heyi smoking, but she’d seen her in the cafeteria that day.
“No, no, I don’t smoke anymore,” Yu Heyi denied, shaking her head like a rattle, waving her hands.
“I used to smoke a lot. Now… maybe when I’m stressed.”
“Don’t smoke anymore.” Chi Ruixi’s tone was like Teacher Chi scolding a naughty kid.
Student Yu nodded obediently, even holding Teacher Chi’s hand to curry favor.
But Teacher Chi glared, saying sternly, “I need to do the headcount. Let go.”
They walked to the bus, one behind the other. Most classes had finished or were halfway through their headcounts, but Chi Ruixi’s class was chaotic without supervision.
Led by Chi Ying, who was chattering to Zhan Yuan. Zhan Yuan didn’t speak but listened patiently.
“Zhan Yuan, my uncle packed me tons of stuff. You’ll stay with me tonight, right? We can share.”
Zhan Yuan stayed silent, not annoyed, just listening good-naturedly.
She wanted to refuse, but knowing Chi Ying’s persistence, it was pointless. She just listened.
After Chi Ying’s words that day, Zhan Yuan’s heart had been uneasy. She hadn’t expected Chi Ying to say that, or to insist on walking her home despite her refusal.
Zhan Yuan didn’t want to ignore Chi Ying; she was just scared. Even if they got together, there might be no future. Better to stay friends by her side.
But Chi Ying wouldn’t have it, no matter how she explained, saying she’d give her time to accept…
What time? Talking so close like this…
“Chi Ying, did you eat grapefruit this morning?”
Last time they hugged, Zhan Yuan smelled grapefruit on Chi Ying. She hadn’t thought much of it then, but now… how much did Chi Ying love grapefruit?
Chi Ying, chattering away, had dropped her aloof school persona since confessing to Zhan Yuan, becoming a chatterbox.
But the grapefruit comment confused her.
“I didn’t eat grapefruit.”
No?
Zhan Yuan frowned. “Did you smell grapefruit then?”
Recently differentiated, Chi Ying wasn’t sensitive to her own pheromones and didn’t think that way. She sniffed around like a puppy.
Zhan Yuan watched, speechless.
“Chi Ying.”
Mid-sniff, Chi Ying heard her aunt’s voice.
Then… awkward.
Chi Ruixi glared, and Chi Ying behaved, standing quietly by Zhan Yuan, muttering, “Why didn’t you tell me my aunt was here?”
Her tone was so aggrieved.
Zhan Yuan ignored her as Chi Ruixi started the headcount.
After, they followed the group to the guesthouse for room assignments. Being late off the bus, Chi Ruixi’s class was the last to enter.
Du Sheng and Teacher Zhao stood at the entrance. From afar, they seemed chatty, but closer, it was Teacher Zhao talking at Du Sheng.
Though Du Sheng was vice-principal, everyone knew his deep family background. Even the principal gave him face.
Of course, Du Sheng reciprocated. Their status was nearly equal. As the son of the school’s founder, Old Principal Du, he held most of the school’s shares.
Everyone knew Du Sheng, still young, was vice-principal for a few years’ experience before inevitably becoming principal.
“Principal Du, rest assured, my students will outperform this year’s seniors.”
“I’m not principal yet.”
Teacher Zhao had been yammering for ages, and Du Sheng was fed up.
Once a playboy, he’d taken the vice-principal role as a family legacy, not caring much about it.
Choked by Du Sheng, Teacher Zhao was embarrassed, spotting Chi Ruixi and Yu Heyi approaching.
He quickly called Chi Ruixi over to ease the awkwardness.
Chi Ruixi greeted, “Vice-Principal, Teacher Zhao.”
Teacher Zhao was about to introduce her, but Du Sheng spoke first. “It’s outside school, why call me vice-principal?”
Teacher Zhao froze, then heard Du Sheng point at Yu Heyi. “Like Heyi, call me Uncle.”
He was stunned, his face cracking.
