After Going on a Blind Date With My Omega Love Rival (ABO, GL) - Chapter 70
Chapter 70
On the way, Yu Heyi sent Chi Ruixi several emojis, but Chi Ruixi didn’t respond. At first, Chi Ruixi would at least glance at WeChat, but later, she stopped looking altogether.
She completely ignored Yu Heyi.
Yu Heyi knew she had gone too far and angered Chi Ruixi.
If they weren’t out in public with so many people around, Yu Heyi felt Chi Ruixi might have ditched her and gone back home.
…In fact, she guessed right. Chi Ruixi did have that thought.
But ignoring her was just out of frustration. She couldn’t ignore Yu Heyi forever.
On the boat, she still stayed with Yu Heyi, though she barely spoke.
There were dozens of boats docked at the shore, but only two types: ten-person boats and four-person boats.
The students took the ten-person ones, while the teachers took the four-person ones.
The two people sharing the boat with Chi Ruixi and Yu Heyi were female teachers—one an Alpha, the other an Omega. Chi Ruixi wasn’t very familiar with them; they weren’t her class’s teachers, just acquaintances she’d greet in passing. She wasn’t sure what was going on, but… their relationship seemed rather ambiguous.
This was Chi Ruixi’s observation. As for Yu Heyi… she was tense the entire time, not looking at anyone, not even Chi Ruixi. It was like she’d become a different person, staring only at her feet.
At first, Chi Ruixi didn’t mind ignoring her, but later she noticed how unusually quiet Yu Heyi was.
The two teachers across from them were chatting and laughing, while their side was dead silent.
Neither spoke—one looked at the scenery, the other at her feet.
Chi Ruixi stared at Yu Heyi for a while, growing more and more suspicious. Was Yu Heyi… scared?
…Chi Ruixi had figured it out.
Yu Heyi was indeed scared, and it was so sudden. She had no idea the afternoon activity would be this. When Teacher Cheng came by, she was still half-asleep and didn’t know. Plus, she hadn’t asked Chi Ruixi in advance.
She thought they’d be doing some thrilling high-altitude activity, not… a water-based one.
Ugh… so scary. Yu Heyi could only focus on keeping her legs from shaking.
When it came to land or air activities, there wasn’t anything Yu Heyi was afraid to try.
But… she was terrified of water. That’s why, as a kid, when she came here, she didn’t do the rafting. Back then, she was young, and Du Ruo didn’t feel safe letting her try. Yu Heyi herself had wanted to give it a go, but she chickened out at the water’s edge.
As a kid, she didn’t think much of it. But a few years ago, after placing well in a rally race and going out to sea with her teammates, she panicked. She got off the boat as soon as she boarded.
That time, she rested at home for two days and swore never to touch anything water-related again.
When they reached the shore earlier, she had already started to feel nervous. But… an Alpha’s pride wouldn’t let her back down, especially in front of her Omega.
So she got on the boat, but she was still terrified.
The boat wasn’t fast, just drifting on the lake. A staff member steered at the front. It should’ve been a great time to enjoy the natural scenery, but Yu Heyi didn’t dare look.
She didn’t dare show her fear too much either.
She couldn’t hear what the two female teachers across from her were saying. She didn’t care about the beautiful scenery or feel the cool breeze.
She sat properly, legs together, hands on her knees, head down, eyes fixed straight ahead.
Even when a hand covered hers, she didn’t dare look up, though her expression flickered slightly.
“Scared?” Chi Ruixi’s voice was soft and gentle, unlike the cold tone from when she was angry earlier. But Yu Heyi still didn’t dare tell the truth.
Still keeping her head down, she stubbornly said, “I’m not.”
If not for the slight tremble in her voice, she might’ve believed herself.
So Chi Ruixi definitely didn’t believe her.
Chi Ruixi didn’t let go of her hand but stopped talking to her, instead chatting sporadically with the two teachers across from them.
She realized the two female teachers were indeed a couple in the ambiguous stage.
Sort of a couple, at least, since they were a bit like her and Yu Heyi before.
The three of them chatted pleasantly, but Yu Heyi was a bit unhappy. Even though Chi Ruixi held her hand the whole time, she was still annoyed. Though she caught bits and pieces of their conversation, her Alpha instincts made her unhappy seeing Chi Ruixi get along so well with another Alpha.
She was even extremely jealous, the irrational kind.
Trembling slightly, she reached out with her left hand to push Chi Ruixi’s hand off her right, trying to express her displeasure.
But she was too scared to use much strength, and instead of pushing Chi Ruixi’s hand away, Chi Ruixi held her even tighter.
None of them were paying attention to the front, so they didn’t notice they were approaching rapids. The other two were facing backward, chatting with Chi Ruixi, while Yu Heyi was caught up in her odd struggle.
Suddenly, the boat’s front tipped up. Before Chi Ruixi and the others could react, Yu Heyi instinctively threw herself at Chi Ruixi, practically sitting on her.
…
After the rapids passed, Yu Heyi stayed in that position, her body trembling uncontrollably.
At first, the two teachers across from them smiled, teasing Yu Heyi for being afraid of water. But seeing how intense her reaction was, they grew nervous and watched her.
The moment Yu Heyi lunged, Chi Ruixi instinctively wrapped her arms around her. Yu Heyi climbed higher, clinging like she’d found a lifeline.
Chi Ruixi held the handrail with one hand and supported Yu Heyi with the other.
“Don’t be scared…” she said softly, trying to soothe Yu Heyi’s emotions. But Yu Heyi was too frightened to hear, and after a while, she choked out, “Chi-jiejie… I’m so scared.”
She looked up at Chi Ruixi, then, as if embarrassed, lowered her head again.
She didn’t say she was scared again but didn’t let go either.
They stayed like that until they neared the shore. Chi Ruixi patted her back and said, “We’re almost at the shore. Don’t be scared.”
Hearing they were close to shore, Yu Heyi gradually let go, saying stubbornly, “I wasn’t scared.”
As if the person who’d just admitted to being scared wasn’t her.
Chi Ruixi didn’t react, but the two teachers across from them laughed unkindly.
Yu Heyi’s face flushed red instantly.
So embarrassing. It totally ruined her fierce Alpha reputation.
After getting off the boat, Yu Heyi pulled Chi Ruixi along quickly, as if she could outrun the embarrassment.
Chi Ruixi, being dragged behind, finally smiled. The timid Yu Heyi was just too cute.
And from behind, she could see Yu Heyi’s ears were slightly red.
Even the unpleasantness from earlier that day faded away.
Her mind was full of Yu Heyi’s flustered appearance…
When they reached a corner, Yu Heyi finally let go of her hand. Turning back, her expression was a bit fierce, even threatening, “Chi Ruixi, you’d better forget what just happened. I’m still your ultimate fierce Alpha.”
As if that wasn’t enough, Yu Heyi flexed her biceps, even starting to lift her shirt…
Chi Ruixi covered her mouth and laughed.
Her whole body trembled with laughter.
“Stop laughing!” Yu Heyi was a bit embarrassed and annoyed, her face scrunching up.
Ugh, so annoying, just too annoying.
She had imagined Chi Ruixi trembling in her arms during a high-altitude activity, where she’d hold Chi Ruixi’s shoulders and say, “Don’t be scared, I’m here.”
But… before they even got to that point, Yu Heyi felt she’d lost all her dignity.
“I said, stop laughing!!” Her tone was even fiercer, but Chi Ruixi didn’t take it seriously.
She kept laughing, and the more Yu Heyi reacted, the funnier Chi Ruixi found it.
“Hahahaha…” Eventually, she stopped covering her mouth and laughed out loud at her.
Her laughter was so loud that Yu Heyi stepped forward and covered her mouth. They were so close that she could even see the tears in the corners of Chi Ruixi’s eyes.
Damn it, was it that funny?
Laughing until tears came out!!!!
“I’m not laughing, I’m not laughing.” Chi Ruixi wiped the tears from her eyes, patting Yu Heyi’s face soothingly. “I’m really not laughing.”
Yu Heyi felt a bit wronged, pouting at her.
“If I keep laughing, my stomach will hurt too much.”
…Hearing that, Yu Heyi felt like she was falling apart.
Really, there had never been a more embarrassing, humiliating moment than today.
After a short break, the group moved on to the next activities.
Aerial rafting and the nearby rainbow slide.
Feeling back in her element and seeing Chi Ruixi stop laughing at her, Yu Heyi regained some confidence.
“These two activities are optional. If you’re scared, you don’t have to participate,” Teacher Zhao said to the students, and also to the teachers.
If you’re scared, you don’t have to join.
Hearing this, Yu Heyi felt her chance had come. She sidled up to Chi Ruixi with a sly grin and said, “You gonna try it?”
Chi Ruixi asked expressionlessly, “Are you?”
“Of course I am. I’m not scared of high-altitude stuff. I’ll protect you.” Yu Heyi’s tone was smug, and she even raised an eyebrow at Chi Ruixi.
Chi Ruixi glanced at her, saying nothing, but there was a hint of amusement in her eyes, quickly hidden.
They first lined up for the rainbow slide, then went for the aerial rafting.
Yu Heyi went down the slide first and waited for Chi Ruixi below, expecting to see her scared. But… Chi Ruixi wasn’t fazed at all, walking naturally to her side.
“Let’s go to the next one.”
Aerial rafting.
While queuing, Chi Ying and Zhan Yuan were nearby, both kids buzzing with excitement. Chi Ying was chattering about her past heroics.
“Zhan Yuan, Zhan Yuan, I’m telling you, I did this aerial rafting when I graduated elementary school.”
“You did it that young? Weren’t you scared?”
“Of course I was, but my auntie protected me, so I wasn’t afraid.”
Unaware that Chi Ruixi and Yu Heyi were standing behind them, they spoke loudly, and Yu Heyi heard every word clearly.
She turned to look at Chi Ruixi.
…So, Chi Ruixi wasn’t scared at all? And here Yu Heyi was, thinking she’d protect her.
“My auntie’s even done bungee jumping!” Chi Ying’s proud voice came from ahead, while Chi Ruixi stood in front of her with a half-smile.
“What’s wrong, ultimate fierce Alpha?”
