After Going on a Blind Date With My Omega Love Rival (ABO, GL) - Chapter 8
Chapter 8
Yu Heyi was woken by knocking.
Hearing Lady Du’s voice, she was in a dream, tugging at Chi Ruixi’s clothes, nearly seeing what she wanted, when Du screamed. Chi Ruixi vanished, and Old Yu appeared.
This felt like getting caught in the act!!!
Though dream-Chi Ruixi was gone, Du and Old Yu nearly scolded her to tears.
Du, hands on hips, yelled, “How did I raise a daughter like you? Total scum! Prime scummy alpha!”
Old Yu, not to be outdone, sternly said, “Yu Heyi, where are the manners I taught you? Where’s an alpha’s grace? How could you say something so irresponsible?”
Yu Heyi tried to explain, but opening her mouth, no sound came out.
Then she watched Old Yu lead Du away, and… Du’s belly was big.
Old Yu said, “We don’t want Yu Heyi anymore. This child will be raised to be outstanding.”
“The child’s name will be Yu He’er.”
Watching them walk away, Yu Heyi finally found her voice, shouting, “No, don’t call it Yu He’er!”
Argh… she was losing it.
Outside, Du’s knocking continued. She’d been at it for ten minutes, face red with anger.
“Yu Heyi, open the door!!!”
Yu Heyi had been missing for a week. Except for answering Du’s call the day after the blind date, she ignored two more, infuriating Du. In Du’s mind, if her daughter didn’t pick up right away, she’d come grovel later.
But days passed without Yu Heyi’s apology, so Du came herself.
When Yu Heyi moved out, she wanted her own space, so Du didn’t have a key, only knocking.
Yet Yu Heyi made her wait so long, fueling her anger.
She wanted to kick the door down but couldn’t, so she pounded with hands and feet, getting louder. Finally, Yu Heyi opened it.
Du froze.
The room reeked of Omega pheromones…
Her daughter, clearly just awake, looked exhausted, with dark circles under her eyes.
Du’s knocking hand froze mid-air. Suddenly, she wasn’t mad, smirking at Yu Heyi, “Someone here?”
Yu Heyi, woken after two hours of sleep, was dazed until Du’s question snapped her awake.
It was a dream… Du hadn’t seen Chi Ruixi, and there was no Yu He’er.
“No one… just me.” Yu Heyi’s eyes dodged Du’s.
As expected, Du gave her an “you’re lying” look, pushed past, and stormed in.
Yu Heyi, trailing behind, cursed herself. Before sleeping, she’d closed the windows to keep Chi Ruixi’s pheromones lingering.
She… did miss the peach scent.
Though fainter, the room still smelled of Omega pheromones.
“Mommy…”
Du ignored her, circling the living room, then checking the bedroom, kitchen, even the bathroom, before turning to her head-down daughter.
“What’s going on?”
She was sure the room was thick with Omega and her daughter’s pheromones. As an experienced Omega, she knew something had happened.
But Yu Heyi stayed silent.
She hadn’t figured out how to say it: My blind date was a beta I hated, but she turned out to be an Omega. Her heat hit during the date, and we ended up together for a week?
Yu Heyi didn’t dare. Her family was strict. Though Du seemed carefree, she was deeply conservative.
Old Yu was worse—rigid to the core. Since Yu Heyi differentiated as an alpha, he’d drilled into her that alphas must be courteous, respectful, and responsible to Omegas.
She’d tried to be responsible, but Chi Ruixi didn’t want it.
Knowing her daughter, Du saw Yu Heyi’s silence as guilt. She thought she’d raised her well, but this was beyond her expectations.
Smelling Omega pheromones, she’d nearly thought she’d have a grandchild next year.
But finding no one else in the house gave her a bad feeling.
Had her supposedly responsible, sensible daughter done something only a dog alpha would? Du mimicked Old Yu’s stern face, knowing it scared Yu Heyi.
Sure enough, Yu Heyi tensed at her mother’s glare.
“Mommy… I…”
“Speak!”
“Do I have to ask you myself?”
Mentioning Old Yu made Yu Heyi’s eyelashes tremble. No… if Old Yu found out, she’d be in worse trouble.
Yu Heyi’s rebellion was mostly about racing. Old Yu, a diplomat abroad, didn’t expect her to follow his path but forbade racing.
He’d chosen her college majors: architecture, finance, and such.
She didn’t want any.
She loved racing and, if forced to choose, wanted automotive engineering.
But rigid Old Yu called it useless. She could have cars, but not race forever.
Forced, Yu Heyi picked architecture, dutifully finishing while racing on the side, even getting a temporary C license.
After graduation, reconnecting with Jiang Qi, she started racing seriously.
Their shared passion and paths—Jiang Qi domestic, Yu Heyi abroad—aligned. Jiang Qi’s family wanted her abroad, but she stayed in-country for college.
Reuniting with Jiang Qi filled Yu Heyi with racing dreams.
But now, she couldn’t race.
The more she thought, the worse her mood. The crash changed everything. Without it, she might’ve won big, sharing glory with Jiang Qi.
Now, Jiang Qi was abroad for treatment, she’d gone on a weird blind date, and ended up in bed with Chi Ruixi.
And got rejected.
Irritated, she told Du, “I said I’d take responsibility, but love shouldn’t be expected. She didn’t want it.”
Du never expected Yu Heyi, after holding back, to say that. She didn’t want it?
What Omega would say that after a permanent mark?
As an Omega, Du knew heat reactions, assuming Yu Heyi had permanently marked Chi Ruixi, like Old Yu did her.
Furious, she stepped forward, punching Yu Heyi’s shoulder. Yu Heyi took it, meeting Du’s disappointed eyes, feeling a pang of grievance.
“Mommy…”
“Don’t call me.”
Du was truly disappointed. Yu Heyi’s racing rebellion was nothing compared to this. She didn’t oppose her passion but found it dangerous. The crash, though not severe, made her glad Yu Heyi retired.
She even arranged the blind date, hoping for a happy family.
Her playful nature didn’t mean immaturity at nearly fifty. She wanted the best for her daughter, but Yu Heyi’s actions crushed her.
“Do you know what you’ve done?”
“Do you know what a permanent mark means to an Omega?”
“And you told her not to expect love? What were you thinking when you marked her?”
…Permanent mark?
Yu Heyi felt she’d taken that punch for nothing. Her eyes grew more aggrieved as she mumbled, “It was a temporary mark…”
“Temporary mark?”
Yu Heyi nodded, covering her face.
Du paused, then roared, “Does a temporary mark mean no responsibility?”
“I said I’d take responsibility,” Yu Heyi said, neck stiff.
Her righteous attitude infuriated Du. How did she raise such a daughter?
“You don’t like her?”
Yu Heyi nodded faintly. She didn’t just not like Chi Ruixi—she disliked her. Though, admittedly, maybe not as much now.
But not liking was true.
“After spending a heat with an Omega, you say you don’t like her at all?” Du squinted. She knew Yu Heyi’s stubbornness, like Old Yu.
Back then, her love confessions left Old Yu unmoved until an accidental mark made him admit he’d long been smitten.
Stubborn as hell.
Yu Heyi was the same, with her own code. Logically, she and the Omega might not have love, but who talks like that?
And after such a heat, no fondness at all?
Du thought so, but her daughter said, “It’s just pheromones.”
Now she wanted to call Old Yu.
Du was done with Yu Heyi. Talking more only made her angrier, especially with Yu Heyi acting like she wasn’t at fault.
“Heyi, Mommy really wants a grandchild.”
…Yu Heyi wanted to say, No need, you’re young, have another. But thinking of Yu He’er, she scrapped that. No second child.
Grandkids, though… too far off. Saying that to Du would earn another scolding.
So she stayed silent, pretending not to hear.
Du knew Yu Heyi’s nature wouldn’t respond. Sighing, she said, “I think you handled this wrong.”
“If you get a chance to make it right, seize it.”
“Why?”
“Why? Don’t you know what you did? I sent you on a date, not to sleep with an Omega.”
Yu Heyi pouted, feeling wronged. She didn’t control Chi Ruixi’s heat.
“Mommy, do you know that Omega?”
Thinking Yu Heyi was scheming, Du cautiously asked, “What if I do or don’t?”
“Nothing…” She was just asking.
“Anyway, remember my words. Finding an Omega isn’t easy. If she accepts you, marry her quick.”
Yu Heyi was shocked, aggrievedly asking, “Mommy, am I that bad-looking?”
“Not bad. Quite good-looking.”
“Then why?”
“Your personality’s awful. Finding someone who likes you isn’t easy.”
Her own mom?
Yu Heyi’s eyes widened, indignant, “How’s my personality bad? It’s great, okay? My friends love hanging out with me.”
Du paused, then burst out laughing, ignoring Yu Heyi’s darkening face.
“You don’t know yourself. You’re lively, great as a friend, but… do Omegas like you? You’re too playful.”
The first part cheered Yu Heyi; the second soured her mood.
Because Du was right—no Omega liked her yet.
Du patted her shoulder, saying, “So listen to Mommy. Seize this chance.”
Seize what?
Chi Ruixi didn’t want her responsibility. Yu Heyi was frustrated too, okay?
She’d even let go of disliking Chi Ruixi. If Chi Ruixi agreed, she’d marry her. But she was rejected.
Telling Du that would make her mad, so Yu Heyi decided to brush it off. Linking arms with her, she coaxed, “Mommy, I got it.”
Hearing this, Du was pleased, smiling at her.
Then her face changed.
She glared, brows furrowed, saying disdainfully, “Seeing you makes me mad. I’m going to Old Yu tomorrow.”
