After Going on a Blind Date With My Omega Love Rival (ABO, GL) - Chapter 84
Chapter 84
When Chi Ruixi walked into the Chi family home, she first saw her mother in the living room. The earlier phone call came from the housemaid, who said Old Madam Chi was seriously ill and asked Chi Ruixi to come back and check on her. But now, Old Madam Chi did not look as the housemaid described; she sat energetically on the sofa, waiting for Chi Ruixi.
The housemaid nearby saw Chi Ruixi enter and guiltily averted her eyes, not daring to look at Chi Ruixi.
Chi Ruixi tugged at the corner of her mouth and then sat on the sofa diagonally across from Old Madam Chi. What she thought in her heart differed from what she saw.
In fact, when she received the phone call, she already suspected whether her mother was truly ill.
But in that moment of panic, she pushed down this small doubt in her heart after hearing her mother was sick. Chi Ruixi still could not remain unmoved. Her mother clearly knew this, so Chi Ruixi was tricked into coming.
Both sat on the sofas without speaking. Old Madam Chi signaled the housemaid with her eyes. The housemaid closed the door and then disappeared.
Only the mother and daughter remained in the living room. Chi Ruixi still had no intention of speaking. She smiled faintly while looking at her mother, realizing that no matter how she looked, she could not see any special emotions from her mother toward her.
Her mother did not seem like a mother at all.
In her mother’s eyes, Chi Ruixi seemed like a tool, one with little use, facing constant oppression.
“Did that alpha bring you here again?” Old Madam Chi finally spoke.
Chi Ruixi showed no expression and answered her mother, “Since you already know, why do you ask me?”
Old Madam Chi’s eye twitched slightly as she said, “I already told you, I don’t agree. You cannot be with an alpha like that.”
“But I want to be with her,” Chi Ruixi replied.
Old Madam Chi did not respond to that but continued, “Stay quietly at home for a few days.”
“And then what?” Chi Ruixi stared at her intently, not knowing what the old lady planned to do next.
Old Madam Chi spoke directly, with no intention of hiding anything. “When the time comes, meet the alpha from the Jiang family. If she agrees, you will marry her.”
“Heh…” Chi Ruixi laughed, her laughter audible.
As she laughed, her eyes gradually reddened. She did not understand why, despite wanting to escape the Chi family, she still cared about this mother who wanted to sell her to someone else because of a single phone call.
She laughed at herself and at her mother.
“I already married her. I won’t marry anyone else,” Chi Ruixi said firmly. She had thought about this countless times before.
From Old Madam Chi’s attitude in previous instances, Chi Ruixi sensed that her mother would inevitably try to stop her from being with Yu Heyi. But she never expected her mother to use such a despicable method.
In the past, Chi Ruixi had hoped for so-called motherly love, but her mother never gave it to her even once.
Her mother only repeatedly taught her that since she differentiated into an Omega, she must always fulfill an Omega’s duties. Her mother, like those alphas from a hundred years ago, wanted to lock her at home, preferably with no contact with anyone until marriage.
Later, because her sister differentiated into an alpha, Chi Ruixi temporarily escaped her mother’s control.
Chi Shengxi did not restrict her and even spoke up to stop their mother when she tried to do something.
Before, Chi Ruixi had not thought deeply about it. But after the last time Chi Shengxi told her to be with the person she liked and not worry, Chi Ruixi belatedly realized that over the years, Chi Shengxi must have done many things behind the scenes.
Otherwise, Chi Ruixi would not be able to do whatever she wanted as she did now.
She might have already been arranged by her mother to marry and have children.
Perhaps her mother would have raised her to be a useless Omega, unable to live without an alpha.
How could she defy her mother as she did now?
As expected, Old Madam Chi widened her eyes in disbelief upon hearing her words, her lips trembling before she sneered.
“She’s just a chef. Divorce her,” Old Madam Chi said.
“I’ve already been permanently marked by her,” Chi Ruixi replied.
Old Madam Chi frowned, glaring fiercely at Chi Ruixi, and said coldly, “Then wash it off.”
Yu Heyi saw Chi Ruixi off and only drove away after Chi Ruixi went inside.
Normally, when she and Chi Ruixi played around in this house, Yu Heyi did not notice anything. But now, alone, she felt the house was a bit big and empty.
To avoid overthinking, Yu Heyi tidied the room, packed the uneaten durian in a container, and put it in the fridge.
In the long night, unable to sleep, Yu Heyi cleaned the entire house. She started with the living room, then tidied both bedrooms.
Finally, only a small study remained. Since moving here, Yu Heyi had seen Chi Ruixi enter it twice—once for work and once probably to clean.
Since Chi Ruixi did not hide it from her, Yu Heyi did not think it was a room she could not enter, so she took cleaning tools and went in.
The study was small, with a recliner, a desk, and a bookshelf, making it feel a bit cramped. Yu Heyi wiped down the bookshelf simply.
On the top right corner of the desk were three books. The top two seemed like textbooks, but the one at the bottom looked like a diary, very girly in color and a bit old.
Yu Heyi did not think much and continued cleaning, but her movements were a bit clumsy, and she knocked the books out of order.
After putting them back neatly, Yu Heyi’s heart stirred, and she picked up the diary again.
The book looked very old, at least ten years old, because it had that unique, trendy vibe from their teenage years.
In the center was a red heart with some stickers.
Upon closer look, Yu Heyi’s name was in the middle of the red heart.
Although snooping was unethical, her name was on it, so it was related to her, right?
Yu Heyi hesitated for a while but ultimately put the diary down, deciding to ask for Chi Ruixi’s permission when she returned.
After leaving the study, Yu Heyi’s heart grew warmer the more she thought about it. Although she saw nothing specific, seeing her name on Chi Ruixi’s diary thrilled her immensely.
Her mood was extremely excited now, filled with the satisfaction of being cherished for years, making her feel like she was floating.
She even wanted to ask Chi Ruixi what it was all about, but after taking out her phone, she realized the timing was not quite right.
“How’s it going over there?” she texted.
She actually wanted to say, “I miss you so much. When are you coming back?” But she held back, saving those words for when Chi Ruixi returned.
Since Chi Ruixi’s mother was unwell, sending such clingy messages might make Chi Ruixi think she was immature.
Like a lovesick fool.
But what could she do? She really missed her.
Especially lying on Chi Ruixi’s bed, it felt like being submerged in a sea of peaches, but the peach’s owner was not there. Yu Heyi tossed and turned on the bed, rolling to Chi Ruixi’s side, then back to her own, and finally settled on Chi Ruixi’s side.
The peach scent was stronger there.
Intending to wait for Chi Ruixi’s reply, Yu Heyi fell asleep on the bed filled with Chi Ruixi’s scent.
Yu Heyi did not set an alarm, planning to sleep until she woke naturally. But unexpectedly, she woke up around 6 a.m., as usual.
The first thought that flashed through her mind upon waking was what to make Chi Ruixi for breakfast.
Then she remembered Chi Ruixi was not home, so she did not need to cook.
Alone, she became lazy. She got up, took a shower, grabbed two pieces of bread, and started eating. After finishing, she chugged a glass of milk.
She was not at all as refined as when she ate with Chi Ruixi.
After eating, she checked her phone. Chi Ruixi still had not replied. Yu Heyi sent another message: “Are you awake?”
The entire morning, Chi Ruixi did not reply.
Yu Heyi spent the morning watching the melodramatic show ‘Runaway Omega Sweetheart’, which Chi Ruixi had watched before, but her mind was on her phone.
Her phone pinged twice, but she did not reply to either.
One was a message from Jiang Qi: “Ahhh, Heyi, I finally gave in!!!”
The other was from her mom: “Heyi, Mommy has good news for you.”
Her thoughts were not on these two people. Her eyes watched the TV, but her mind wondered whether to call Chi Ruixi.
She checked the time. It was noon, time to eat.
She decided to wait a bit longer, in case Chi Ruixi was eating with her mother, and a call would be inconvenient.
For lunch, Yu Heyi simply cooked some noodles. After eating, she called Chi Ruixi.
The call did not go through.
Yu Heyi’s eyelid twitched, feeling a bad premonition.
But then she thought, Chi Ruixi was at her own home. What could go wrong?
The most likely scenario was that Chi Ruixi’s mother was very ill, leaving her no time to respond.
By 3 p.m., Yu Heyi could not stay home any longer. She put on a jacket, grabbed her motorcycle keys, and went downstairs. She rode along the route from last night to the Chi family home.
For some reason, her heart felt uneasy.
Since Chi Ruixi had not replied, Yu Heyi wanted to be closer to her.
But she was stopped at the gate and could not enter. After arguing for a while, she mentioned she had been there last night. Eventually, the same security guard from last night, who recognized her as Chi Ruixi’s companion, let her through.
At the gate of the Chi family’s large mansion, Yu Heyi felt an odd sensation. She had not thought much about it last night, but now, reflecting…
Chi Ruixi hardly ever mentioned her family, neither during school nor now.
Yu Heyi used to think Chi Ruixi’s family was very ordinary because, in school, Chi Ruixi’s clothing and behavior did not seem like those of a wealthy family’s child.
Now, thinking about it, Chi Ruixi’s surname was Chi.
Could she be from that famous Chi family in Xijing?
And her sister—could she be the current head of the Chi family, the legendary decisive and ruthless alpha?
Yu Heyi had only heard of such a person but never paid attention to her name.
Now, thinking about it… wasn’t it Chi Shengxi?
Looking up at the Chi family’s three villas, it must be true. Only the Chi family could afford such grandeur.
But where was Chi Ruixi?
