Summary:
From a young age, Bei Ge wanted to marry one person. But that person, Wei Shu, came from a wealthy family—a beautiful, high-born lady as untouchable as the moon. Bei Ge, on the other hand, was the daughter of a bricklayer, feeling coarse and insignificant like mud beneath their feet. For over ten years, Bei Ge used every trick in the book, chasing Wei Shu with ulterior motives, and finally managed to win her over.
On the day before they were to get their marriage license, Wei Shu was in a car accident and lost her memory. The accident happened while she was on her way to see her ex. Bei Ge took her home, pretending not to know anything. Despite her best efforts to ignore her feelings of being cheated on, cracks began to show. Sometimes, sitting alone in her room, watching the lights of other families, the heartache and exhaustion would become unbearable. A forced relationship built on gratitude isn’t love. Bei Ge knew better than anyone that Wei Shu didn’t love her.
When Wei Shu woke up, she found she had a fiancée. The woman was gorgeous—beautiful, with long legs and a shapely waist, an elegant and sophisticated beauty who perfectly matched Wei Shu’s type. But why was this woman, who supposedly chased her for over ten years out of deep love, so distant after taking her home? She didn’t come home, didn’t hold hands, and didn’t kiss her, acting as if she were a widow. Was Wei Shu not beautiful enough, or not alluring enough? The proud Wei Shu decided to take the lead.
When it rained, Wei Shu went to Bei Ge’s company, used her bathroom, and peeked out with her exquisite, smooth shoulder half-covered by a short towel. “Darling, can you please pass me my pajamas?” At home, Wei Shu would wear a white shirt that only reached her thighs, knock on Bei Ge’s door with slightly damp hair and captivating red lips, and ask, “Is work more beautiful than me?” During a meal, Wei Shu would lean in to kiss the cream from the corner of Bei Ge’s lips, smiling teasingly, “Are you eating the food, or me?”
In the middle of the night, Bei Ge finally couldn’t take it anymore. She pinned down the person who had snuck into her bed, her voice hoarse. “I’ll give you one chance to choose. If you don’t love me, I…” If she didn’t love her, Bei Ge was prepared to let go, no matter how painful it was.
As Bei Ge’s desperation grew, Wei Shu bit her lip and said, “Choose what? Are you not able to perform?”
Bei Ge, having reached her limit, decided not to hold back. That night, she proved herself with her actions, only to see Wei Shu packing her things to leave the next day. Bei Ge panicked, her face pale as she grabbed Wei Shu’s hand. “You’re not allowed to go!”
Wei Shu turned, startled, then kissed her cheek, and chuckled. “You’re so insecure… I’m not leaving.” She picked up her documents. “Let’s go get married.”
Later, Bei Ge realized that what she thought was unrequited love in her youth had long since changed. Their relationship wasn’t forced; she wanted to embrace the moon, and the moon was willing to fall into her embrace. The person she loved, loved her just as much.
