After leaving scumbag A, I Found a Happy Ending with a Flirtatious Beauty (GL , ABO) - Chapter 4
The phone on the bedside table rang suddenly, pulling Shen Qiaoyi out of her wandering thoughts.
On the screen, the caller ID read: “Little Devil Who Empties the Chamber Pot.”
She stared at it for a moment, then hesitated before answering.
A worried voice came through immediately.
“Yiyi, why aren’t you on set yet? I thought something had happened to you.”
From the vague memories of the original host, Shen Qiaoyi recognized the voice. It belonged to the original owner’s best friend, Zheng Siya.
She rubbed the bridge of her sore nose and replied weakly,
“Siya… I drank too much last night.”
Zheng Siya paused for a moment.
“Are you alright?”
Shen Qiaoyi was caught off guard.
“What?”
“The crew had that mixer a couple of weeks ago. You saw Song Yin kissing the new makeup artist in the bathroom. Were you drinking last night at your mom’s wedding to cope with that?”
Song Yin?
The name rang a bell.
A moment later, Shen Qiaoyi remembered that part of the novel.
The original Shen Qiaoyi was a stylist who met Song Yin, then a struggling C-list actress, during work. After a small favor from Song Yin, Qiaoyi was captivated by her beauty and started blindly worshipping her.
In the serialized novel, Shen Qiaoyi begged Ji Ruolan for help just to land Song Yin some connections, only to end up being “gifted” to Ji Ruolan as a favor. The comment sections were flooded with outrage.
Just when readers were waiting for Qiaoyi to come to her senses and turn the tables, the story took a dark turn. She drowned her sorrows in alcohol and ended up getting forcibly marked by three deranged Alphas at a bar.
It was a mess, to say the least.
Shen Qiaoyi had been furious when she read that part of the book. She wanted to punch the original version of herself for being such a hopeless romantic with no self-respect.
Now standing in the bathroom, she looked at her reflection in the mirror. Her face was stunning, unforgettable.
She reached up and gently touched her cheek.
How did the original host not realize just how gorgeous she was?
With a face like this, she could have ruled the room. There was no reason to grovel and degrade herself as some unwanted admirer.
She was done playing those foolish, one-sided love games. And she certainly wasn’t going to drink herself sick over a trashy Alpha.
Shen Qiaoyi pressed her finger to the corner of her eye and said calmly,
“Song Yin can be with whoever she wants. I’m not interested.”
Maybe her voice sounded too cold. It was such a stark contrast from the original Qiaoyi who had chased after Song Yin like a lost puppy that Zheng Siya was momentarily stunned.
“Yiyi, I know you’re hurting, but Song Yin is too fickle. She’s really not right for you.”
At the end of the novel, it was Zheng Siya who risked everything to rescue Qiaoyi from Ji Ruolan’s captivity and abuse.
Shen Qiaoyi knew very clearly that, aside from her mother, Zheng Siya was the only one who truly cared about her.
Her voice softened with appreciation.
“I know, Siya. I won’t go after Song Yin anymore, because she…”
Shen Qiaoyi enunciated every word with conviction.
“She is not worth it.”
By the time Shen Qiaoyi arrived on set, the cast of “The Tempestuous Madam” was already gathered in the makeup room. As she glanced casually around, her gaze landed on the lead actress, Song Yin, who was seated in the most luxurious leather chair by the window.
Her eyes were bright and gentle, her brows arched like crescent moons. Her delicate features and relaxed posture gave off a charming allure even when she was just reclining.
No wonder the original Qiaoyi had been so obsessed with her.
Song Yin really was beautiful. However…
Shen Qiaoyi suddenly pictured another face in her mind. A cooler, more elegant one. Her lips curled slightly.
Compared to that Alpha from the night before, Song Yin now seemed utterly unremarkable.
Shen Qiaoyi lifted her chin and walked right past her, treating her like air. She went straight to Zheng Siya’s side and quickly opened the makeup kit.
“Siya, I’ll work on the background actors’ makeup today.”
Zheng Siya was momentarily surprised. Normally, whenever Song Yin was around, Qiaoyi’s eyes would be fixed on her like a spotlight. But today, something was clearly different.
Before Zheng Siya could respond, Song Yin spoke up.
“Qiaoyi.”
Maybe it was because of how unusual Shen Qiaoyi’s behavior was, but there was a faint trace of mockery in Song Yin’s tone.
Shen Qiaoyi, are you trying to act?
You confessed to me not long ago, full of emotion, and now you’re pretending not to care?
Trying to play hard to get?
Shen Qiaoyi turned her head and lifted her gaze slowly.
“Miss Song, is something wrong?”
Song Yin hesitated. She could clearly sense that Shen Qiaoyi’s eyes no longer held that same look of admiration and infatuation. It unsettled her.
“Qiaoyi, come here. Do my makeup.”
Shen Qiaoyi’s hands paused for a second. She glanced to the side and saw He Yu, the same person Song Yin had been kissing in the bathroom a few weeks ago.
He Yu was a new recruit from the same agency, still in her internship. Her skills were average, but she had an innocent face that made her seem harmless. She had been using work as an excuse to get close to Song Yin, pouring tea and asking sweet questions. Within a week, she had successfully seduced her.
A shallow Alpha and a manipulative Omega. They really were made for each other.
Shen Qiaoyi’s lips curled slightly, but there was no warmth in her smile.
“Miss Song, isn’t He Yu already working on your makeup?”
Song Yin leaned closer to the mirror. Her face was pale, but her brows were thick and uneven, sitting awkwardly above her eyelids like two caterpillars. Her temper flared instantly.
“He Yu, do you even know how to do makeup?”
He Yu looked at her with wide, innocent eyes and tried to lean in sweetly.
“Miss Song, this is how I usually do it.”
Song Yin had only been toying with He Yu at first. But after sleeping with her, she realized the girl was calculating and had an overinflated ego. Compared to her, being with the more naive Shen Qiaoyi had felt much more comfortable.
Besides, He Yu was just a regular A-grade Omega. Her pheromones were dull and lacked any allure. She was no match for Shen Qiaoyi, who had a rare double-S rating.
The problem was, Qiaoyi had been far too conservative. Even after six months of dating, she refused to let Song Yin mark her, saying she wanted to save that moment for her wedding night.
Song Yin had entered the industry young and had struggled for years without success. Last year, thanks to Qiaoyi’s connections, she landed a commercial with the Ji Group. A single slow-motion sleeve flick in a period costume made her go viral, and her popularity skyrocketed.
There was no way someone like her would tie herself down in marriage just as her career was finally taking off.
Song Yin frowned and pushed He Yu aside.
“We’re filming a Republican-era scene today. You gave me brows so thin and flat they don’t match the qipao at all.”
He Yu gave an awkward smile and tried to lean in again, but Song Yin had already stood up and walked over to Shen Qiaoyi.
“Yiyi, I still prefer when you do my makeup.”
If this had been the original Qiaoyi, she would have been overjoyed and happily continued to grovel.
But Shen Qiaoyi simply picked up the makeup kit without sparing her a glance.
“Miss Song, please step aside. I need to do the background actors’ makeup.”
She stepped to the side and walked straight past Song Yin without hesitation.
A few strands of her hair brushed lightly across Song Yin’s lips. Watching her walk away, Song Yin’s smile faded. As she thought back on Shen Qiaoyi’s unusual behavior, something shifted inside her.
The way Qiaoyi looked at her had changed.
Had she fallen for someone else?
Shen Qiaoyi applied makeup with smooth, practiced strokes. Even though she was working on extras who wouldn’t appear clearly on camera, her expression remained focused, and her almond-shaped eyes were filled with quiet dedication.
Zheng Siya slowly moved behind her, watching with concern.
“Qiaoyi, are you alright?”
Shen Qiaoyi opened the compact and swept a brush across the corner of the extra’s eyes. Tilting her head slightly, her lashes fluttered as she smiled.
“Do I look like something’s wrong?”
“But… your reaction to Song Yin…” Zheng Siya began.
Setting down the brush, Shen Qiaoyi gently placed a hand on Zheng Siya’s shoulder.
“Siya, I know you’ve always cared about me. As for Song Yin, I was nothing more than the easiest catch in her fishpond.”
Maybe the change in Qiaoyi’s tone was too abrupt, because Zheng Siya immediately assumed she was forcing a smile. She wrapped her arms around her protectively.
“Yiyi, I’m just glad you don’t think I’m meddling. Please remember what I’ve told you. Don’t be fooled by Song Yin’s pretty face.”
Zheng Siya expected Qiaoyi to brush it off or defend Song Yin like she always had. But instead, Qiaoyi suddenly turned her head, lips curling into a mocking smile.
“Song Yin? She’s nothing. I’ve seen Alphas a hundred times more attractive than her.”
Zheng Siya looked at her, stunned.
What was going on today?
This wasn’t the Qiaoyi she knew. Wasn’t she head over heels for Song Yin?
Before she could press further, the door to the makeup room opened and the director of “The Tempestuous Madam” walked in.
“Miss Siya, do you have any plans for tonight?”
Zheng Siya shook her head.
“Our studio follows the production schedule.”
The director clapped his hands enthusiastically.
“Then how about joining the crew dinner tonight at Wu Jiu? We’ll be working together a lot. Getting to know each other will help communication.”
His tone left little room for refusal, and as one of the shareholders of the studio, Zheng Siya knew she couldn’t turn down the offer from someone so influential.
“Of course. On behalf of the team, thank you, Director Wang.” Zheng Siya smiled graciously.
“There are too many of us to go all at once. You head over first. I’ll tidy up here and join you shortly.”
“Perfect!” Director Wang grinned from ear to ear.
“We’ll wait to start dinner until you get there.”
Zheng Siya hurried to pack the last of the tools into the case and nudged Shen Qiaoyi with her elbow.
“Yiyi, let’s ride together.”
Shen Qiaoyi pulled her jacket closer around her.
“I’ll pass. You all have fun.”
Zheng Siya stopped her.
“Yiyi, our studio runs on the crew’s schedule. If you skip out, Ying-jie will lecture you for days.”
That worked.
Even though her personality was different from the original Shen Qiaoyi’s, one thing remained the same — she always kept the bigger picture in mind.
After a brief internal struggle, she lowered her straight shoulders.
“Alright. I’ll show up, check in, and leave.”
“Come on now.” Zheng Siya linked her arm, smirking playfully.
“Don’t tell me you still can’t let go of Song Yin.”
“Ugh.” Shen Qiaoyi smacked her hand away, lips curled in distaste.
“What’s there to miss about a trashy Alpha who flirts with anything that moves and has no standards?”
“That’s the Qiaoyi I know.” Zheng Siya beamed with satisfaction and re-linked their arms.
“That’s the spirit. Let He Yu have her. There are plenty of Alphas in the world. You have to let go of the wrong one to meet the right one.”
She leaned in conspiratorially.
“And let me tell you, Wu Jiu is full of tall, fair-skinned, gorgeous Alpha ladies. Absolute top-tier.”
Top-tier.
In Shen Qiaoyi’s mind, a certain cool and elegant face quietly resurfaced.
