After Marking the Villain Professor (ABO, GL) - Chapter 24
Chapter 24
“Please, Boss Xu, I don’t want to stay outside anymore.”
“I can really kill zombies.”
“I’ll behave, I won’t take up much space, and I’ll do whatever you ask.”
With Xu Man as the only alpha present, the increasingly rich orange fragrance spread through the air, sweet and cloying, making her heart race.
Sun Xiahe knelt before Xu Man, her expression even more pitiful.
Xu Man quickly covered her mouth and nose, wanting to step back, but Sun Xiahe grabbed her pant leg, her face inching closer to Xu Man’s leg.
Not wanting to be touched but unable to kick her away, Xu Man could only say, “Get up first.”
Sun Xiahe saw an opening and clung tighter. “If Boss Xu doesn’t agree, I’ll keep kneeling here.”
Having dealt with several alphas, she knew what kind of omega they liked and how to manipulate them.
Especially someone like Xu Man, a good person with morals even in the apocalypse.
Yesterday, she’d overheard that Xu Man had plenty of supplies and capable subordinates. Even that omega, Professor Zhou, was using Xu Man’s resources.
So, the hostility she’d sensed from Professor Zhou that day wasn’t her imagination.
Why pretend? Weren’t they all just after food?
What was wrong with Xu Man, such a great alpha, supporting a few omegas?
Did Professor Zhou think she could hog all of Xu Man’s supplies?
Was being a drug researcher that impressive? It was uncertain if she’d even develop a zombie virus cure. Why were Zheng Rong and the others so protective of her?
Maybe she’d traded her body for it.
The thought of Zhou Yutao saying she’d bring her a dog to kill fueled Sun Xiahe’s resentment and her desire to take Xu Man.
Killing zombies together was just an excuse. Once she won Xu Man over, a little charm would spare her from facing those terrifying, disgusting monsters.
Sun Xiahe’s lowered face broke into a smile.
But the next second, her smile froze.
Xu Si appeared out of nowhere.
A zombie head, half its face eaten away, dangled before her eyes. Sun Xiahe let out a piercing scream, scrambling back in panic, forgetting her plan to seduce Xu Man.
“Scared like that and you want to kill zombies with the boss?” Xu Si said, pulling the head away and looking at Sun Xiahe with contempt. “You’re not even worth one of Professor Zhou’s fingers.”
Madam Boss not only dissected zombies herself but had trained the boss to face them without flinching.
Sun Xiahe trembled, her face pale, unable to speak for a long while.
Seeing the omega quiver, Xu Si snorted. “Let me tell you straight, our boss likes Professor Zhou’s type. Keep pestering her, and I’ll throw you out myself. I’ll be watching you.”
“Don’t believe me? Try it.”
He tossed the zombie head beside Sun Xiahe, making her scream again and crawl back, losing all courage to approach Xu Man.
She couldn’t understand why, as an omega, Professor Zhou earned Xu Man’s subordinates’ respect, while she was worth less than a stranger in their eyes.
Xu Si’s word “like” threw Xu Man’s heart off balance for a moment.
This time, she didn’t want to contradict him. Instead, a secret joy stirred within her.
Did she really like Zhou Yutao? Xu Man asked herself, unable to find an answer.
She knew clearly that she and Zhou Yutao weren’t the same kind of people. Even if she liked her, she couldn’t.
This realization left her chest tight, a bitter feeling settling in.
She understood now why she’d felt uneasy when Zhou Yutao called Liu Ming to the study.
“Where did you just go, Xu Si?” Xu Man asked, suppressing those unwanted thoughts.
What she really wanted to know was whether Xu Si had gone to the study to see Zhou Yutao, if Liu Ming had pursued her, and if Zhou Yutao had agreed.
Xu Si: “To the study.”
Of course, he’d gone to report the boss’s every move to Madam Boss.
He’d come so quickly because Madam Boss had ordered him to keep other vixens away from the boss.
Madam Boss said he could use extreme measures to deal with vixens as long as no one was truly hurt.
Laughable—Sun Xiahe claimed she wanted to train and kill zombies with the boss? He’d see if this vixen was really fearless.
The truth proved it was just a ploy to get close to the boss.
Good thing he arrived in time. If the boss pitied Sun Xiahe, she might’ve gotten tangled up with her.
Madam Boss would soon hear about this, and the boss was in for it.
Xu Man didn’t notice the pity in Xu Si’s eyes as she pressed, “Did Yutao meet Liu Ming? Did she agree to anything?”
Her voice was slightly urgent.
“They met,” Xu Si said, fuming. “That jerk seemed to kiss Professor Zhou. I got mad and beat her up. Professor Zhou’s yours, Boss—how could someone else kiss her?”
In truth, it didn’t happen, but Madam Boss told him to say it.
Xu Man’s mind buzzed, missing everything Xu Si said afterward.
All she could think was: Liu Ming kissed Zhou Yutao.
Her heart ached even more.
She stood frozen until a student nudged her. “Boss Xu, zombies are coming.”
