After Marking the Villain Professor (ABO, GL) - Chapter 27
Chapter 27
Xu Man stepped into Zhou Yutao’s bedroom.
It was impeccably tidy, the bed’s blankets perfectly smooth, showing no signs of being slept in.
But looking at the familiar room, Xu Man couldn’t help recalling the previous night.
Zhou Yutao feeding her medicine with her mouth, Xu Man huddling in the corner watching that video, lying in the same bed, holding Zhou Yutao in the morning, and getting caught trying to tie her bathrobe.
The more she thought, the redder her face grew.
An indescribable heat surged from her heart, urging her step by step toward the bathroom.
She really needed a shower.
Though she’d quickly beheaded the small zombie earlier, her inexperience meant her clothes were splattered with zombie bl00d, faintly reeking.
Forget Zhou Yutao disliking it—Xu Man couldn’t stand it herself.
As Xu Si had said, she should clean up before seeing Zhou Yutao, especially while the water was still running and unpolluted.
Xu Man turned on the faucet, hoping to cool her flushed face.
After a long wait, a thin trickle of water came out, tinged with a faint stench, similar to the smell of zombies.
Her face paled, and she shut off the faucet immediately.
This water matched the novel’s description of contaminated water almost exactly.
Though zombie viruses lost activity in water, preventing infection, the water was still undrinkable.
First, it smelled foul and was hard to swallow. Second, drinking it caused a stench that attracted zombies.
Going without water meant death; drinking it might mean dying faster.
That’s how it was written in the novel.
She remembered the water was fine during morning washing. She needed to warn everyone to avoid using contaminated water.
Thinking this, Xu Man opened the bedroom door.
Before she could call for Xu Yi, she overheard a student talking to Liu Ming. “Liu Ming, do you have some special relationship with Professor Zhou? I noticed the way you look at her isn’t quite right.”
“Plus, you don’t have to train with us. Even Boss Xu, who’s borrowing Professor Zhou’s resources, trains with us and killed a zombie today.”
“Professor Zhou always has Deputy Captain Qi call you away. Is she training you privately? Look, you’ve been gone all morning, and your face is so pale.”
Xu Man couldn’t see them, only heard their voices as they slowly climbed the stairs.
Her heart tightened. She retreated into the bedroom, using the half-open door to hide, eavesdropping.
Liu Ming didn’t deny it, only saying, “I like Professor Zhou. I’ve seen her before.”
It was in South City.
It wasn’t an exaggeration to call it love at first sight. So, she followed her to Di Du University and came here with Zheng Rong.
She hadn’t planned to confess to Zhou Yutao so soon, but on the way, a zombie scratched her, and nothing happened.
Zheng Rong accidentally learned she was immune to the zombie virus and told Zhou Yutao. Seeing Zhou Yutao’s interest, Liu Ming dared to hope.
When Zhou Yutao asked if she’d help develop the antidote, Liu Ming seized the chance to confess.
She said she’d cooperate if Zhou Yutao became her girlfriend.
Zhou Yutao called her to the study, but the outcome wasn’t ideal. She offered protection, food, or other compensation but refused to be with her.
Only after Liu Ming’s persistence did Zhou Yutao grant her a chance to pursue her. It was something, at least—no one else even got that.
At Di Du University, Liu Ming had seen Zhou Yutao coldly reject pursuing alphas. Too much pestering meant a dose of her drugs at best, or, if she said an alpha delayed her research, jail time.
Liu Ming knew Zhou Yutao’s importance to the country, which was why she didn’t act rashly.
As for her pale face, that was the cost of pursuing her.
Other alphas spent money chasing omegas; pursuing Zhou Yutao cost bl00d.
Thinking of Zhou Yutao calmly drawing several vials of her bl00d, focused solely on the antidote, Liu Ming’s face paled further.
She hadn’t even held her hand yet and had lost so much bl00d. She wondered if she’d survive being together.
Pursuing such a powerful omega was no easy feat.
For a moment, Liu Ming wasn’t sure whether to be glad she was immune.
“Miss Liu,” Qi Rui’s voice suddenly called from behind.
Liu Ming turned to see him approaching with a pile of food, which he handed to her. “From Professor Zhou. Take care of yourself.”
The items were all for bl00d replenishment.
Knowing Zhou Yutao needed more of her bl00d, Liu Ming still smiled happily. “Thank you, thank you, Professor Zhou.”
She’d sent her food—how wonderful.
Rumor had it no alpha had ever received anything from Professor Zhou.
Her immunity gave her a big advantage.
Liu Ming perked up, a flush coloring her pale face. If Zhou Yutao asked for more bl00d now, she’d gladly give it.
Watching Liu Ming head upstairs with the food, Qi Rui shook his head, sighing.
Another alpha completely under Professor Zhou’s thumb without her even trying. If she actively pursued, how many alphas would die for her?
Not just alphas—betas, who couldn’t smell pheromones, might fall too.
So far, only Boss Xu had caught Professor Zhou’s active interest. She was a unique alpha, resisting marking her…
Where was Boss Xu now? Back in the basement?
Qi Rui walked off, lost in thought.
Xu Man, at the door, gripped the handle, her face pale.
No wonder Zhou Yutao had Qi Rui borrow so much food today—was it for Liu Ming?
She’d agreed to her terms after all.
Her nose stung, her chest tightened, and the discomfort left Xu Man struggling to breathe.
After a long pause, she opened the door and stepped out.
Seeing Xu Man emerge from Zhou Yutao’s bedroom, Liu Ming’s smile froze, a flash of hostility in her eyes.
From her first day here, she’d sensed Zhou Yutao treated Xu Man differently. Though she later heard it was likely for Xu Man’s resources, alpha instincts made her dislike her.
Liu Ming deliberately ate a red date, saying to the student beside her, “Professor Zhou’s dates are so sweet. Want some?”
The student shook their head. “That’s specially for you from Professor Zhou. I wouldn’t dare. You eat it—didn’t Deputy Captain Qi say to take care of yourself?”
Xu Man paused, clenching her fists, and shouted down, “Deputy Captain Qi!”
Qi Rui, not yet gone, looked up.
Xu Man: “The water’s contaminated. Tell everyone not to use it. Also, the power’s out.”
She recalled from the novel that water and power issues happened around the same time. She’d tried the bedroom light earlier, and it didn’t work.
