After Marking the Villain Professor (ABO, GL) - Chapter 60
Chapter 60
“Nothing much, Sister Zhou asked me to call you over,” Tan Juan said casually.
“I guess she wants you to help with cooking or something.”
Qi Lin looked at the items in Tan Juan’s hands, her eyes full of suspicion.
Tan Juan continued to lie with a straight face. “Why are you looking at me like that? I’m telling the truth. You think I wanted to come here? Here, take the basin and spatula. Believe it or not.”
It was obvious nonsense, and Qi Lin wasn’t buying it. They had just eaten not long ago.
But Tan Juan’s intentions? Qi Lin couldn’t quite figure them out. Most of the time, she couldn’t keep up with this girl’s wild train of thought. That’s how she ended up getting bitten on the lips twice in a row.
Thinking about it, Qi Lin zoned out a little.
Then she saw Big Banana’s lips curve into a sly grin, her eyes brimming with mischief she couldn’t hide. Before Qi Lin could react, everything went dark, and a clanging noise exploded in her ears as Tan Juan banged the spatula against the stainless steel basin.
“Hahaha!” Tan Juan laughed. “Doesn’t that sound nice? I lost a game to Sister Zhou, and she told me to do this. I didn’t want to mess with you, Sister Qi.”
“If you’ve got a problem, take it up with her. I’m outta here!”
Tan Juan’s laughter faded as she walked away, but Qi Lin still caught her words clearly.
Qi Lin: “…”
Gritting her teeth, she pulled the basin off her face and stood up, ready to chase after her. But then she realized something, stopped, and sat back down on the sofa, motionless.
As she sat there, she started to smile. Whether it was out of frustration or something else, who could say?
Less than thirty seconds later, Tan Juan’s figure reappeared outside the vehicle door.
“Qi Lin, why are you still sitting there?” Her tone carried a hint of annoyed disbelief.
In truth, Zhou Yutao had only asked Tan Juan to bring Qi Lin over, without specifying how. But Tan Juan figured she’d already pissed Qi Lin off so much that if Qi Lin knew the truth, she’d probably do the opposite just to spite her. So Tan Juan came up with this plan.
Based on Qi Lin’s usual petty, grudge-holding nature, she’d definitely chase after Tan Juan for pulling this stunt. And that way, technically, Tan Juan would have gotten Qi Lin to come along.
In a way, Tan Juan was pretty clever.
What she didn’t expect was that Qi Lin didn’t play along this time.
So, after running out, Tan Juan immediately came back.
Still, she didn’t dare get too close to Qi Lin, just in case she got taken down on the spot.
Qi Lin wiped the smile off her face, leaned into a more comfortable position, and said slowly, “Too lazy to move.”
“What? How can you be so lazy? Where’s that crazy energy you usually have?” Tan Juan got worked up and couldn’t help but take a couple of steps forward.
If Qi Lin didn’t go, the bet wouldn’t count as complete.
And they were almost out of time!
The more Tan Juan wanted Qi Lin to go, the less Qi Lin budged. She wasn’t stupid—she could see through Tan Juan’s little scheme now.
With no other choice, Tan Juan risked getting pummeled and stepped forward to pull Qi Lin up.
She didn’t manage to pull her up. Instead, Tan Juan ended up sitting on Qi Lin’s lap.
A glint flashed in Tan Juan’s eyes. She quickly wrapped her arms around Qi Lin’s neck and decided not to move. “Are you coming with me or not? If you don’t, I’ll just sit here like this. You said it yourself—I don’t get tired for twenty-four hours.”
When it came to dealing with Qi Lin, her strategy was always to play dirty, with no limits.
Qi Lin, being a beta, couldn’t smell pheromones. But at that moment, she had the strange feeling that this Omega on her lap smelled nice.
She vaguely recalled someone mentioning that Tan Juan’s pheromone scent was chocolate, like her favorite Snickers bar. The same scent.
That dry, itchy feeling in her throat came back, impossible to ignore.
Qi Lin, almost flustered, tried to push Tan Juan off, but she wouldn’t budge.
Tan Juan’s smug laughter rang in her ears. “What’re you gonna do now? I suggest you come with me, or I’ll bite you.”
The last part was a threat.
But that threat made Qi Lin’s heart beat a little faster.
“Get off. I’ll go with you,” Qi Lin said, closing her eyes and taking a deep breath.
Her plan worked, and Tan Juan was thrilled.
Looking at the beauty with her eyes closed, eyelashes trembling, and a slightly sour expression on her pale face, Tan Juan couldn’t resist. She reached out and pinched Qi Lin’s cheek.
“If you’d just agreed earlier, we wouldn’t be here, right, Sister Qi?”
Really, why did she have to make Tan Juan resort to this?
She didn’t want to mess with Qi Lin, but normal tactics just didn’t work on her.
Qi Lin’s eyes snapped open, emotions still swirling in them, not yet faded. They were deeper than before, like a beast was hiding inside.
Oh no. She’d pushed her too far.
Qi Lin must hate her guts now.
Tan Juan yanked her hand back and jumped up like her butt was on fire. She thought Qi Lin was about to retaliate, but instead, Qi Lin just gave her a long, silent look and walked out the vehicle door without a word.
“Hey, Sister Qi, are you actually mad? You’re not gonna secretly kill me, are you?” Tan Juan called out. “I didn’t mean it. I was kidding about biting you!”
This wasn’t like her, and Tan Juan softened her tone instinctively.
She always did this—provoked someone, and when they got mad, she’d shamelessly try to smooth things over.
To say Tan Juan wasn’t afraid of death would be a lie. But she was banking on being in her friend’s territory, certain Qi Lin wouldn’t actually kill her.
Qi Lin’s forehead vein throbbed. “No need to be sneaky. I could kill you right now. Try spouting more nonsense, Miss Big Banana.”
Tan Juan shut up and followed Qi Lin into the vehicle where Xu Man and the others were.
After all that messing around, they’d obviously gone over Zhou Yutao’s time limit.
Tan Juan got ahead of the blame. “It’s not my fault. Qi Lin was so hard to convince. Two minutes wasn’t enough. She was already resting when I got there.”
“Sister Zhou, considering how hard I tried, can we just let it slide this time?”
Of course, it wasn’t going to slide. Zhou Yutao didn’t agree. “A bet’s a bet. Rules are rules. Since you went over time, Miss Big Banana, you’ll have to do one more thing.”
“Don’t worry, it’s just a small thing.”
Curious, Tan Juan asked, “What small thing?”
“Hmm…” Zhou Yutao looked at Qi Lin, whose face was growing darker, and pretended to think. “How about this, Big Banana—you feed Qi Lin a cup of milk.”
She pointed at the coconut milk nearby.
‘Cough… cough, cough!’
Xu Man choked on the Sprite she’d just sipped.
It wasn’t her fault for thinking dirty thoughts.
It was Zhou Yutao’s mischievous tone, which reminded her of a scene from a certain adult film she’d once seen.
Tan Juan, oblivious to the implication, nodded eagerly. “That’s easy!”
She grabbed the coconut milk and shoved it toward Qi Lin’s mouth.
Facing several pairs of amused eyes, Qi Lin: “…”
She really didn’t want to drink it!
But in the end, she did. If she didn’t help Tan Juan complete this so-called bet, Tan Juan would never let it go.
Tan Juan making a fuss was the real hassle for Qi Lin.
Zhou Yutao, quite pleased, gestured to the seat across from her. “Please, Miss Big Banana.”
Tan Juan immediately knew Zhou Yutao planned to play at least two more rounds of Go with her, and she’d probably lose both.
She couldn’t weasel out of it, especially since Xu Man was clearly on Zhou Yutao’s side.
Looking dejected, Tan Juan sat where Zhou Yutao pointed. “I don’t even like playing Go. I don’t know who suggested it.”
“Sister Zhou, you’re such a bully.”
She wasn’t about to admit she’d brought this on herself.
Zhou Yutao ignored Tan Juan’s grumbling.
But Qi Lin frowned, a vague bad feeling stirring in her chest.
“Hold on,” Qi Lin spoke up.
Zhou Yutao didn’t even look up, already starting a game with Tan Juan. “Miss Big Banana wanted to play this game herself. You’re not going to ruin her fun, are you, Qi Lin?”
Tan Juan glanced at Qi Lin, winking and making faces to signal her.
Don’t ruin it. Don’t ruin it. Stop her, quick!
Qi Lin, either understanding or not, turned her head. “Fine, it looks fun. I’ll play a round with Boss Xu. If I lose, I’ll do the same bet as you and Little Peach.”
Xu Man shook her head, about to say she was terrible at Go and didn’t want to play.
But Tan Juan cut in first. “Play! Manman, play with her. Didn’t you win a Go championship back in the day?”
Xu Man: “…Fine, but we don’t have another Go board.”
When had she ever won a championship? She didn’t even qualify for the preliminaries, okay?
Big Banana was clearly getting bullied by Zhou Yutao and wanted to take it out on her.
Xu Man felt helpless.
But with the conversation going this far, if she didn’t play Qi Lin, it’d look like she was looking down on her.
“I’m about to lose this game anyway. You guys can take over,” Tan Juan said, unusually cooperative.
Her position on the board was already crumbling.
Sure enough, in less than a minute, Tan Juan lost again.
Zhou Yutao said lightly, “Big Banana, this time I want you to find a way to distract Qi Lin during her game and make her lose.”
Qi Lin: “…”
Tan Juan: “…”
Why? Why did it turn out like this?
Why was there someone as devious as Zhou Yutao in this world? Why?
Xu Man burst out laughing. She leaned close to Zhou Yutao and whispered, “How did you know I can’t play Go?”
Zhou Yutao squeezed her hand, saying meaningfully, “Manman, you’re easy to read.”
A few subtle movements or expressions gave her away.
She was just too easy to figure out.
Otherwise, how would she have ended up in Zhou Yutao’s hands?
“Oh, oh!” Xu Man didn’t think much of it, just happy about her girlfriend’s protectiveness.
Hahaha, Big Banana was about to shoot herself in the foot again, wasn’t she?
Xu Man suddenly felt a bit more confident.
But she overlooked how truly awful her Go skills were. Even with Tan Juan’s interference, she lost.
Tan Juan was secretly thrilled but pretended to be upset. “Manman, how did you suddenly get so bad? I pinched Qi Lin three times, sat on her lap once, bit her lips once, and even stole one of her pieces on purpose, and you still lost?”
What a delightful surprise.
Xu Man was speechless.
Even Qi Lin was utterly speechless.
For an Omega to have such thick skin was truly unbeatable.
