After Marriage (GL) - Chapter 8

Lu Hejing was still not home on the weekend. Lin Ning spent her boring time at home drawing to pass the time.

She didn’t have many friends, so she rarely went out with them, only occasionally going out to sketch, but she would also choose times when there weren’t many people around.

Weekends were crowded and noisy.

Lu Hejing came back very late on Saturday. Lin Ning had originally wanted to wait for Lu Hejing to return, but her courage gradually dissipated while waiting, and in the end, she could only sheepishly return to her own room to sleep.

And then she couldn’t muster the courage to ask about what happened that night.

For three consecutive days, the two didn’t see each other until Tuesday evening.

As the current president of the Lu family, Lu Hejing always had many social engagements to attend.

She used to go alone, but now that she was married, it was only right to bring her wife along.

So, the day before, Lu Hejing had prepared a formal dress for Lin Ning. On Tuesday evening, the driver first went home to pick up Lin Ning and then went to the company to pick up Lu Hejing.

She had prepared a white cocktail dress for Lin Ning. The length, just above the knee, perfectly showcased Lin Ning’s slender and straight long legs. Paired with white stiletto heels and light makeup, Lin Ning looked like a little princess.

While waiting for Lu Hejing in the car, she was a bit nervous, so she sat up straight with her back erect.

When Lu Hejing got into the car, the first thing that caught her eye was Lin Ning’s slender waist accentuated by the cocktail dress, followed by her straight calves slightly angled.

The scene she had witnessed that night involuntarily surfaced in her mind. She subtly shifted her gaze, focusing on smoothing her own dress as she got into the car.

Lu Hejing and Lin Ning had completely different styles. Lu Hejing was wearing a long, bright red dress with a large expanse of her back exposed. Her makeup was exquisite, and coupled with black high heels and a powerful aura, she was simply a queen.

Lin Ning watched Lu Hejing walk over and get into the car, so nervous that she even forgot to breathe. It wasn’t until Lu Hejing sat down next to her that she felt the suffocation and opened her mouth to breathe.

Lu Hejing sensed the other person’s discomfort and silently moved a little to the side. Of course, she had seen Lin Ning’s gaze just now, but she had avoided it.

Perhaps both of them had things on their minds, so they didn’t say anything on the way, and the atmosphere was so awkward it was almost freezing.

Fortunately, there was no traffic, and the hotel they were going to was relatively close, so they arrived quickly.

Lin Ning held her breath the entire time. When she got out of the car, she took several deep breaths to relieve her nervousness.

She didn’t know why, but Lu Hejing’s aura tonight was too strong. Lin Ning didn’t dare to talk to her, and naturally, she didn’t dare to ask about that night, trying her best to minimize her presence.

Lu Hejing was doing it on purpose. As someone who had been immersed in the business world for so many years and possessed the aura of a superior, suppressing a simple, newly graduated girl was the easiest thing in the world.

She didn’t want to get closer to Lin Ning, so she kept a straight face from beginning to end.

The conclusion she had reached after these few days of thinking was to cut the Gordian knot. Regardless of whether Lin Ning liked her or not, she didn’t want any entanglement with her. Her secret must never be discovered.

So, she absolutely couldn’t give Lin Ning any false impressions.

Although the private boundaries had to be clearly drawn, she still had to put on a show for appearances. For example, right now, she needed to let others see that they were a harmonious couple.

So, after getting out of the car, Lu Hejing seemed like a different person. With a smile on her face, she took Lin Ning’s hand and placed it in the crook of her arm, then led Lin Ning into the hotel.

“Don’t be afraid,” Lu Hejing said gently, noticing Lin Ning’s slight hesitation.

Lu Hejing’s gentle action made Lin Ning feel a bit dazed for a moment, and she began to doubt if her earlier perception in the car had been a misjudgment.

Could it be that she always thought of the other person as too terrifying, which was why she felt Lu Hejing was fierce just now? The car lights were so dim just now that she hadn’t really seen Lu Hejing’s expression clearly.

Otherwise, how could someone change their face so quickly and for no apparent reason?

Lin Ning walked alongside Lu Hejing, thinking to herself.
