After Marrying the Cold Omega in Secret (GL, ABO) - Chapter 1
Filming had just wrapped when Chu Jin turned on her phone and saw over a dozen missed calls.
All of them were from someone saved in her contacts as “Sexy Praying Mantis.”
That was her childhood friend, Song Xunyu. They had grown up together, attended the same schools, and now, after graduation, worked in the same city.
Chu Jin unlocked her phone and saw that Xunyu had also sent a flood of WeChat messages.
“I’m at Jidu waiting for you. Come find me right after your shoot.”
“Holy crap!!”
“Do you know who I just saw here at Jidu?!”
“Jin-jie, you’ve been cheated on!!”
Attached below was a video.
Under the dim bar lighting, a beautiful and delicate woman could be seen sitting between two other attractive women. They whispered into each other’s ears, touched intimately, and even kissed softly when things got heated.
The face illuminated under the flashing lights was one Chu Jin knew better than anyone.
It was her girlfriend of three years, Yan Sisi.
Chu Jin stared at the screen, her heart oddly calm.
After getting into the back seat of a cab, she closed her eyes and rested for a bit.
She had just spent the entire day doing a photoshoot for a magazine. Though it wasn’t a well-known publication, she rarely got job offers, so she treated every project seriously. The shoot had lasted from morning until night.
Her back was sore.
She massaged her waist with some effort, then took out her blue light glasses and put them on. She opened her laptop. The slim silver frame sat perfectly on her straight nose bridge, giving her an air of cold sophistication.
Although she was an Alpha, her appearance was anything but traditionally dominant. She was tall and graceful, with seductive features. Her fox-like eyes held a natural allure. With just a glance or a slight curl of her finger, Omegas would flock to her.
Now, with the glasses on, the cool metal added a refined edge to her beauty, making her look elegant and untouchable.
With looks like that, she should have thrived in the entertainment industry. Plenty of investors would have approached her, if not for the fact that she was known to be Yan Sisi’s girlfriend. The Yan family’s status kept many at bay.
A few had still tried to contact her in secret, offering deals tempting enough to make her consider them. But oddly, each time, the interest disappeared without warning.
So after over a year in the industry, she still hadn’t made a name for herself.
Chu Jin lowered her gaze to the laptop screen, dealt with some work matters, and glanced over her schedule.
She had nothing lined up for the next few days.
Perfect timing. She could go have a drink at Jidu tonight and sleep in tomorrow.
The city lights sparkled as night fell over Linhe. The nightlife had just begun. Chu Jin removed her glasses and looked out the car window at the vibrant streets.
Unfortunately, she had hit rush hour. Although the distance to Jidu was only five kilometers, it took the driver over thirty minutes to get there.
As soon as she walked into the bar, she saw Song Xunyu at their usual spot by the counter, waving wildly.
“You took forever. Yan Sisi just left,” Xunyu said, sliding a pre-ordered Negroni in front of her. She leaned in and added, “She left with two beautiful women.”
Two, huh. Real impressive.
Chu Jin kept a straight face. Her fingers tapped the edge of the glass absentmindedly as she nodded.
“What are you nodding at?” Xunyu sighed. She couldn’t understand how Chu Jin could stay so calm after being cheated on.
“Aren’t you even a little upset?” she asked, still unwilling to give up.
“Not really,” Chu Jin replied. She lifted her glass and clinked it against Xunyu’s, producing a crisp, pleasant sound.
A faint smile curved on her lips. “As long as we don’t break up, it’s fine.”
That line sounded like something straight out of a hopeless romantic’s mouth. Classic behavior of someone too deep in love to think clearly.
Luckily, Song Xunyu was used to it by now. She also knew Chu Jin had only started dating Yan Sisi to get her parents off her back.
“Have your parents been pestering you lately?”
“Ever since I got together with Yan Sisi, they’ve stopped bothering me,” Chu Jin said with a slight pause, frowning lightly. “Though they still push for marriage now and then.”
And ask for money.
Like many others, her parents assumed she was clinging to the wealthy Yan family and must be receiving generous support.
But reality was different. Aside from the title of “girlfriend,” there was no exchange of money between her and Sisi. The Yan family didn’t even treat her as anyone important.
In the three years they’d been together, most of their interactions were awkward text conversations on WeChat. They had met in person fewer times than she could count on two hands.
“So who pursued who first?” Xunyu rested her chin on her palm, curious.
Chu Jin swirled her drink slowly and answered without much thought. “It wasn’t really pursuing.”
“My parents were pressuring me hard at the time, always trying to make me attend banquets and marry into wealth. Then out of nowhere, Yan Sisi contacted me and said she wanted to be with me.”
“And you just said yes?”
“Yeah.”
“That’s so strange,” Xunyu frowned and took a sip of her drink, clearly unconvinced.
“What is?”
Xunyu put down her glass and began analyzing the situation. “You dated her to silence your parents and get yourself a rich girlfriend. But Sisi isn’t using you for s3x or companionship, so what is she getting out of it?”
Chu Jin had wondered the same thing before, but she could never come up with a real answer. In the end, she chalked it up to rich people’s obsession with their ‘white moonlight’ fantasies.
“Let’s not think about that,” she said, brushing the thought away. “I’ve got good news to share.”
The words “good news” instantly made Xunyu’s eyes light up. “What is it? Don’t tell me…”
The two locked eyes, then grinned knowingly.
“That’s right. Yijing Media contacted me today!”
Chu Jin could no longer hide the joy in her heart. Her eyes curved like crescent moons.
“Jin-jie! I knew you had it in you!” Xunyu grabbed her arm and shook it excitedly. “When you become a big star, don’t forget your best sister. Rich or poor, we stick together!”
“Nothing’s confirmed yet,” Chu Jin said with a laugh, though a trace of doubt remained in her heart. “But still, it’s strange. Why would a top agency like Yijing want to sign someone like me, who’s only ever done a few microfilms?”
She had majored in acting, but with no background or connections, she had always remained unnoticed. Occasionally, she landed a small magazine shoot or a low-budget indie film.
“They must have seen your potential. With your looks, your figure, and your acting skills, all you need is the right opportunity. Just give you one good script and you’ll rise straight to the top.”
Chu Jin quickly cut her off before she could be praised into the heavens.
They chatted a bit more about recent events. As the night wore on, they agreed to finish their drinks and head home.
“By the way, I heard something today from my sister,” Song Xunyu said suddenly, just as the alcohol started to warm her cheeks. She set her glass down and looked serious.
“Do you remember Yan Sisi’s white moonlight?”
Chu Jin nodded. Her fingers tightened around her glass, her knuckles turning pale. A bad feeling started creeping into her chest.
“I remember. Why?”
Xunyu hesitated for a moment. Her expression was hesitant and uneasy.
“She came back to the country.”
Later, Chu Jin had one more drink before leaving the bar and taking a cab home.
Over the past two years, she had worked on a few small indie films. Thanks to her modest following on Weiyin, which had over a hundred thousand fans, she occasionally got commercial deals. So she had saved up a bit of money.
She had moved out during university and was now living in a nice place called Qingyue Garden. The neighborhood was quiet, and the location was convenient.
As soon as she opened the door and stepped inside, her phone started ringing. She had not even taken off her shoes.
It was, unsurprisingly, Yan Sisi.
“Are you home?” Sisi asked. Her tone was stiff and impatient.
The alcohol Chu Jin had earlier finally hit her. Her head felt heavy, and she leaned against the cabinet near the entryway.
Her eyes were half closed as she asked, “What is it?”
“I’m downstairs. I need to talk to you.”
Even though Chu Jin was tipsy, her thoughts were still clear. She knew exactly what this was. Sisi had come to break up.
Their relationship had been stretched thin for a long time. Breaking up was only a matter of time. It was better to end things calmly.
“Alright,” Chu Jin replied, her voice slightly groggy. “I’ll buzz you in.”
A few minutes later, the doorbell rang.
Chu Jin opened the door without even checking the peephole. She knew it was Sisi.
But she did not expect her to bring someone else.
The woman standing next to Sisi was tall, with long, silky curls that spilled over her chest. She wore a low-cut blouse that revealed just enough without being too much. A black blazer rested over her shoulders, perfectly ironed, clean, and crisp.
She had the kind of beauty that felt distant and untouchable. Her eyes and expression were calm, but cold.
The woman gave a polite nod and extended her hand.
“Hello, Miss Chu. My name is Chi Ye.”
Chu Jin was briefly caught off guard by her appearance. She reached out and shook her hand slowly, replying with a dazed “Hello.”
Then something clicked.
“You’re her white moonlight?”
Chi Ye froze for a split second before gently letting go of her hand.
“Yes, I am.”
Next to her, Sisi barely moved, but Chu Jin noticed the slight twitch at the corner of her lips.
Old memories came rushing back. Chu Jin remembered when she first started dating Sisi, there had been gossip. People said her figure and silhouette looked a lot like Sisi’s white moonlight, Chi Ye. That was probably why Sisi had approached her in the first place.
So she had been nothing more than a stand-in for someone else.
Now, she had been cheated on. And to make it worse, her girlfriend had brought that same white moonlight here to break up with her.
Chu Jin couldn’t help but wonder what she had done to deserve all this.
Still, she did not let her frustration show. Instead, she yawned lazily and leaned against the doorframe. She crossed her arms and made no move to invite them in.
She looked them over with a calm expression.
“What is it you want?”
Chi Ye glanced at Sisi.
Sisi cleared her throat and began to speak, her tone cold and rehearsed.
“Miss Chu, we’ve been together for three years, but you’ve probably heard the rumors. I only got together with you because you reminded me of Chi Ye. Now that she’s back…”
She paused, then continued in the same emotionless voice.
“I think we should break up.”
“From now on, we are no longer a couple. You are free to see other people.”
She spoke without emotion, like she was reciting lines from a script. Then she pulled out her phone, opened WeChat, deleted Chu Jin from her contacts, and even turned the screen toward Chi Ye as if to prove she had done it.
Chu Jin listened quietly.
She had expected something like this. But now that it was happening, it still felt ridiculous.
She could not describe the emotion clearly, but something about it all felt absurd.
Before she could say anything, Chi Ye suddenly spoke.
She looked directly at Chu Jin, her eyes calm and distant.
“If you’re willing to leave Sisi, I can offer you money.”
The moment Chu Jin heard the word “money,” most of her drunken haze vanished.
She stood up straight.
Her voice turned sharp.
“Money? Do you think I’m the kind of person who would take a payout?”
For a brief moment, she looked serious and offended.
Then her expression changed completely. She broke into a grin, cheerful and sly, like someone flipping a switch.
She laughed.
“Well, you’re right. I am exactly that kind of person.”
She quickly stepped aside and gestured to them with an inviting motion. Her smile was bright and hard to hide.
“Come in. Standing around must be exhausting. Let’s sit down and talk about this properly.”
