After Marrying the Cold Omega in Secret (GL, ABO) - Chapter 2
After inviting the two women to sit, Chu Jin quickly got up to pour them some water.
“Would you like tea or coffee?” she asked, but immediately changed her mind when she noticed how late it was. She put the tea leaves back down and said, “Actually, plain water might be better. We don’t want to be up all night.”
Besides, with the kinds of tea and coffee she bought, these two spoiled heiresses might not even be used to the taste.
Chi Ye and Yan Sisi remained silent. They simply accepted the glasses of water Chu Jin handed them without a word.
Chu Jin sat across from them and found herself unintentionally making eye contact with Chi Ye.
Chu Jin had already looked into Chi Ye’s background. She was the youngest daughter of the powerful Chi family in Linhe City. Raised in luxury, born into status, yet she was remarkably capable. At such a young age, she was already managing several companies.
She had spent the past few years overseas and had only recently returned.
The three of them sat in silence for a moment before Chu Jin took the initiative to speak.
“President Chi, about the offer you mentioned earlier. How much exactly are you proposing?”
Chi Ye set her glass down on the table, adjusted her posture, and looked at her.
“How much do you want?”
This was the first time Chu Jin had experienced something like this. It felt like a huge opportunity had suddenly dropped into her lap. She thought about it for a moment and then carefully suggested, “Five hundred thousand?”
As soon as she said it, Yan Sisi let out a soft laugh.
Chi Ye’s face, however, remained completely neutral.
Chu Jin could not figure out what that laugh meant. Was it mockery? Amusement? She thought her asking price was not too high, so she continued, trying to negotiate. “If five hundred thousand is too much, four hundred thousand is fine. I’m open to discussion.”
But still, there was no response.
Chu Jin decided to be direct. “Then how much are you willing to give?”
Chi Ye narrowed her eyes slightly and glanced around the room, appearing thoughtful.
After more than ten seconds of silence, she finally spoke.
“Thirty thousand.”
What?
Why was she being so stingy?
Chu Jin’s polite smile instantly vanished. She leaned back into the sofa, crossed her arms, and looked annoyed. If she had known the amount was this low, she wouldn’t have even let them in. They could have just scanned a payment code at the door and left.
How could people from such rich families, with multiple listed companies under their names, be so tightfisted over a breakup fee?
Even Yan Sisi looked shocked. She stared at Chi Ye in disbelief, but Chi Ye shut her up with a cold glare.
Left with no choice, Yan Sisi added, “It’s thirty thousand. Do you want it or not?”
Even if it was a small amount, thirty thousand was still money. It could at least cover the cost of two photoshoots. Better than getting nothing at all.
Chu Jin pulled out her phone without even looking up.
“WeChat or Alipay?”
“We will pay you later, all at once.”
“All at once?” Chu Jin picked up on the phrase and looked at Chi Ye with curiosity.
“I have another proposal I’d like to discuss with you,” Chi Ye said.
Chu Jin found that hard to believe. What kind of proposal could they possibly have after being so stingy with the breakup fee? She doubted anything else would be worth much.
Still, out of politeness, she asked, “What kind of proposal?”
Chi Ye turned slightly and looked at Yan Sisi.
Unhappy about being given instructions, Yan Sisi still followed through. She opened her briefcase and pulled out a document, placing it on the table and sliding it toward Chu Jin.
Chu Jin looked down and saw four words on the cover: Marriage Agreement.
“Marriage agreement?” Chu Jin stared at them in disbelief. “Who’s getting married?”
“You,” Chi Ye answered calmly.
“Me?” Chu Jin pointed at herself. “To who?”
“Me,” Chi Ye replied.
Chu Jin was completely confused. She rubbed her forehead, trying to understand what was going on.
“Aren’t you in love with her?” She pointed at Yan Sisi, finally voicing the questions in her mind. “Aren’t you two a couple? If you are not marrying her, why are you coming to me?”
As far as she knew, she was only ever a stand-in. If she had real feelings for Yan Sisi, then the three of them would have been love rivals. There would be emotional tension and maybe even some resentment.
And besides, both Chi Ye and Chu Jin were Alphas. They were not even physically compatible.
Chi Ye clearly did not want to explain any further. Her face remained calm. “Just read the contract.”
Despite all the confusion in her heart, Chu Jin was curious. She picked up the document and flipped through it quickly. Once she counted how many zeroes were in the payment, all her doubts vanished instantly.
She stood up immediately, smiled brightly, and extended her hand to Chi Ye with sincere enthusiasm.
“President Chi, I look forward to working with you.”
“What did you just say?” Song Xunyu was so shocked over the phone that it sounded like her jaw had hit the floor.
“In just a few minutes, you not only broke up, but also got married? And to Chi Ye? The same Chi Ye who was your ex’s first love?”
Chu Jin held the phone slightly away from her ear to protect her hearing. Her joy could not be hidden, and her voice was full of excitement. “I couldn’t help it. She offered way too much.”
The contract stated that they would enter a secret marriage for three years. After those three years, they would divorce.
During the marriage, she would receive two million yuan every month as living expenses. After the divorce, she would receive a separation fee of one billion yuan.
One billion.
That was an amount Chu Jin never even dreamed of. Even if she had started working during ancient times, she probably still could not have saved that much.
Compared to the measly thirty thousand from Yan Sisi, this was like heaven and earth.
“The Chi family really does have money,” Song Xunyu said in admiration. “But aside from giving you all that cash, does the contract say you have to do anything?”
“I didn’t read the details very closely,” Chu Jin replied, still floating in a cloud of happiness. “With that kind of money, I would do anything. I could be their maid and still be grateful.”
Even so, she flipped through her copy of the agreement to double-check.
Her smile slowly faded.
“I might actually have to be a maid…”
The contract said that although the marriage would be kept private, she would be required to live with Chi Ye and take care of all her daily needs. This included things like serving drinks, showing concern, cooking, walking dogs, cleaning cat litter, giving baths, warming the bed, and helping her fall asleep. She had to be available at any time and fulfill every request without refusal.
“Baths? Warming the bed? Putting her to sleep?” Chu Jin frowned.
The first few tasks sounded like housekeeping, but the last ones felt much more personal.
“See? I told you. She wants your body,” Song Xunyu said confidently on the other end of the call. “Now it makes sense.”
“It only says baths and warming the bed. It doesn’t say anything else,” Chu Jin replied, trying to convince herself. “Besides, we’re both Alphas. It’s not like that’s going to happen.”
Also, the contract said three years. Coincidentally, she and Yan Sisi had also dated for three years. It was possible that Chi Ye was doing all of this to get revenge on Yan Sisi. Maybe she just wanted to use Chu Jin the same way Sisi had.
If that was the case, then they would probably keep a clear boundary. Chu Jin might only need to play along on the surface.
Chu Jin sighed to herself. Wealthy people really do take jealousy to a different level.
But now she was the one benefitting from their drama.
As she thought about that one billion yuan, all the strange parts of the contract instantly vanished from her mind.
Outside the Qingyue Villa, Yan Sisi sat in the driver’s seat of a black luxury car. Her expression was dark and heavy, and her face seemed to sink even lower the more she sat.
“So, are you satisfied now?” she asked, clearly annoyed as she looked at Chi Ye sitting beside her. “You’re the generous one now, throwing around a billion like it’s nothing. And me? I just became the stingy one. After three years of dating, I only offered a breakup fee of thirty thousand.”
“If this gets out, my mom is going to kill me.”
“Don’t worry, I will tell Auntie,” Chi Ye paused for a moment, glanced at her, and added, “I will ask her to be a little harsher.”
“You!” Yan Sisi was furious and nearly exploded with anger.
She thought to herself that today was just completely unlucky. Earlier, she had just wrapped her arms around two beautiful women at the bar when Chi Ye suddenly called.
That tyrant had returned to the country.
Without any greetings or pleasantries, the first thing out of Chi Ye’s mouth was an order for her to immediately break up with Chu Jin.
She did not care that Yan Sisi was enjoying a perfect moment, surrounded by beauty and pleasure.
In the end, Yan Sisi had no choice but to abandon her fun and accompany this demanding queen to Chu Jin’s home, wrapping up her role as a tool one last time.
But when she thought about the benefits Chi Ye had offered her in the past, she forced herself to swallow her frustration. She tilted her head slightly and gave Chi Ye a sweet smile.
“Now that everything is done, can you finally introduce Bai Bai to me?”
Chi Ye looked down at her phone and accepted Chu Jin’s friend request.
The corners of her lips lifted almost unnoticeably.
“I will make arrangements in a few days.”
Early the next morning, a private car arrived to take Chu Jin to her new home.
Since they had already made plans the night before, she did not dare sleep in. She set an alarm and got up early to pack what she thought she would need.
From the back of a forgotten storage box, she pulled out a stack of letters. The paper, once white, had faded slightly with age.
Chu Jin picked up the last letter she had received. Her fingertips gently brushed across the handwriting, as if she could still feel the lingering emotions in each stroke.
Eventually, she packed all the letters into a box and went downstairs.
Assistant He took her three suitcases and gave her a somewhat awkward smile.
“Madam, you actually did not need to bring anything. President Chi has already prepared everything for you.”
The nanny car slowly drove out of the busy downtown area and headed toward the eastern district. It circled around Mount Xiang and entered the most prestigious villa neighborhood in Linhe City, known as Guanhe Manor.
The villas were built along the mountain slopes. The area was peaceful and elegant. It was said that the people who lived there were among the city’s most powerful and famous, including celebrities and business moguls.
Chu Jin had never imagined in her life that she would one day live in a place like this.
That morning, she wore a red dress that complimented her figure beautifully. Her outfit and appearance were more than worthy of such surroundings. When the car stopped at the gate of the villa, the driver stepped out to open the door for her.
Chu Jin stepped out in high heels, her posture elegant and full of confidence. She looked every bit like an international star.
As she removed her sunglasses, she noticed a row of neatly dressed maids waiting outside the house.
The moment they saw her, they all spoke in unison.
“Welcome home, Madam.”
Chu Jin was already wearing towering heels and nearly stumbled from the shock.
She had barely accepted being called Madam by Assistant He the day before, but now being greeted like this by a group of people made even someone as thick-skinned as Chu Jin feel embarrassed.
She clenched her teeth slightly. Whose ridiculous idea was this?
Still, for the sake of that one billion yuan, she endured it.
She forced a warm smile to her face.
After that, Assistant He led her inside the villa and began introducing her to the layout. The interior was designed in a refined French style. Whether it was the paintings in the hallway or the decorations in the corners, every detail reflected the unique taste of the homeowner.
Finally, he showed her to her room.
One wall of the bedroom was made entirely of floor-to-ceiling windows. The sheer white curtains floated gently in the breeze. Outside was a quiet garden, and in the distance, she could see the sun rising over Mount Xiang, painting the sky with a golden edge.
To the right, there was a glass door. When opened, it led to a bright and spacious walk-in closet. The compartments had already been filled.
There were clothes, shoes, and bags. Everything matched her personal style. All the items had been ironed and arranged neatly.
Every single item was from a famous luxury brand.
Suddenly, Chu Jin remembered how she had gotten up early that morning to pack three full suitcases.
Compared to what was in front of her, her early morning efforts felt like a joke.
No wonder Assistant He told her there was no need to bring anything. This place was move-in ready.
“President Chi’s bedroom is right next to yours,” Assistant He said, standing upright and speaking in his usual calm tone.
Thank goodness they would not be sharing a room.
Chu Jin let out a quiet breath of relief.
She suddenly recalled the terms in the contract. The long list of responsibilities still made her a bit anxious.
However, despite Chi Ye’s cold appearance, she did not seem like someone completely unreasonable. Chu Jin thought that once they met, they could talk it through and maybe review the contract together.
Perhaps the terms were written that way for formality but were not meant to be taken so literally.
Since entering the villa, she had not seen Chi Ye at all. Even when she passed by her bedroom earlier, the door was closed.
Chu Jin asked Assistant He, “Has President Chi gotten up yet?”
Before he could reply, a cool voice sounded behind them.
“Why did it take you so long?”
The tone carried a hint of dissatisfaction.
Chu Jin turned toward the voice.
Chi Ye was standing there in a bathrobe. The collar was loose, falling along the line of her collarbone into the shadows. Chu Jin quickly averted her gaze and looked up at her face.
Chi Ye’s hair was still damp. She had probably just finished her shower and had only towel-dried her hair. Several strands hung loosely by her cheeks, and the tips still held tiny droplets of water, sparkling and ready to fall.
She looked different from yesterday.
Her cheeks had a faint flush that softened her usual coldness. There was a subtle glow in her expression, making her seem gentler and more approachable.
Assistant He, sensing the moment, quietly left the room.
Now it was just the two of them.
Chu Jin felt slightly awkward. She cleared her throat and, after a brief hesitation, said,
“President Chi.”
Chi Ye’s expression remained unreadable. It was impossible to tell what she was thinking.
After a moment of silence, she finally spoke in a cold voice.
“Come dry my hair.”
