After Marrying the Cold Omega in Secret (GL, ABO) - Chapter 3
Chi Ye had already turned and walked toward the room next door.
Chu Jin watched her back and felt an overwhelming sense of dread.
Just moments ago, she had been guessing that the responsibilities would be lighter than the ones listed in the agreement. She never expected them to be even more detailed.
Not only did she have to assist with bathing, but she also had to dry Chi Ye’s hair.
As soon as a flicker of frustration rose in her heart, her phone chimed with a notification.
“Your account ending in 7426 received a deposit of 2,000,000 yuan on June 3 at 9:12.”
It was the agreed-upon monthly living allowance from the contract. The sight of all those zeroes instantly swept away her annoyance.
Money truly was the most powerful motivator.
In an instant, Chu Jin was energized. She quickly jogged after Chi Ye and called out, “President Chi, I’ll dry your hair right away.”
If drying hair was all it took, she would gladly dry a hundred heads without a single complaint.
She followed Chi Ye with a cheerful step, picked up the hairdryer in front of the mirror, and got to work.
Looking at Chi Ye’s reflection in the mirror, Chu Jin acted like a seasoned hairstylist. She asked confidently, “President Chi, how would you like your hair done? Do you want it fluffy or smooth? Straight or curly?”
“I noticed you had curls yesterday. If it’s just curls, I might not be very good at it, but I can learn. I’ll look it up now.” She started pulling out her phone. “Give me a moment…”
Chi Ye gently parted her lips and interrupted.
“Just dry it.”
With the instruction given, Chu Jin quickly put her phone down and adjusted the settings on the hairdryer.
“That’s simple. I promise you’ll be happy with the result.”
“Stop calling me President Chi.”
“What?”
Chu Jin had just lifted a lock of Chi Ye’s hair and was about to turn on the hairdryer when she heard that unexpected request.
In the mirror, Chi Ye was looking at her. Her lips, slightly red, moved slowly as she spoke.
“We are already married.”
Chu Jin understood what she meant, but still felt a little awkward. She lowered her voice and explained, “But we haven’t registered it yet.”
She thought Chi Ye would get annoyed, but instead, Chi Ye’s gaze lowered slightly as if she were thinking it over.
“So that’s the reason.”
“Then let’s go register this afternoon.”
Chu Jin waved her hands quickly. “No need to rush. Really.”
Chi Ye glanced at her and asked, “You’ve already taken the money, and you still don’t want to register?”
Chu Jin gave a sheepish smile.
The two million had indeed just arrived, and the agreement was technically in effect. It would be hard to argue otherwise.
She could only nod and say obediently, “Alright. I’ll follow your lead.”
Chu Jin turned on the hairdryer and began lifting sections of Chi Ye’s dark, glossy hair. Her movements were gentle and precise, treating Chi Ye like a delicate piece of art, not daring to make a single mistake.
Because of their earlier conversation, the air between them felt a little tense. Chu Jin made sure to be extra careful not to touch Chi Ye’s skin.
As she lifted the strands, Chi Ye’s pale neck became visible. On the back of her neck was a pheromone suppressant patch.
Chu Jin could not help but feel curious. With someone as cool and reserved as Chi Ye, what kind of scent would her pheromones carry?
Chu Jin’s gaze dropped slightly. Chi Ye’s robe collar was a little loose, and standing to the side, Chu Jin’s eyes naturally followed the line of her slender neck down to her collarbone.
Chi Ye’s collarbone was beautifully shaped.
There was even a small red mole on the right side, adding a touch of sensuality to her otherwise cool appearance.
It made one want to lean in and kiss it.
The thought startled Chu Jin so much that she immediately looked away, cutting off the fantasy before it could take root.
In her flustered state, she accidentally brushed Chi Ye’s earlobe.
The skin was cool, smooth like a piece of polished jade.
Soft and delicate.
“I’m sorry, President Chi,” she apologized quickly.
Chi Ye had been watching her through the mirror the entire time. She noticed every move, including the moment Chu Jin had stared blankly at her collarbone and then panicked when she realized it.
Perhaps she even guessed what Chu Jin was thinking.
Chi Ye’s lips curved ever so slightly.
“It’s alright.”
After that, Chu Jin did not dare let her mind wander again. She focused completely on finishing the task of drying Chi Ye’s hair.
Chi Ye’s hair was like a waterfall, clearly well-maintained. Once dried and combed, it fell smoothly across her shoulders and shimmered softly in the light.
When Chu Jin finished, Chi Ye gave only three words.
“Change my clothes.”
Then she turned and walked toward the closet.
“What?”
Chu Jin froze, unsure if she had heard correctly.
Was she supposed to help her change clothes too?
That seemed a bit too much.
Chu Jin loved looking at beautiful women, yes, but this was Chi Ye. They had only signed a marriage agreement. She had no desire to become involved with her beyond the terms.
Not to mention, Chi Ye was her ex-girlfriend’s first love.
Even though Yan Sisi had cheated on her, Chu Jin still had her own standards. She would never steal someone else’s love interest.
She only agreed to this marriage for the money. It was all for the role and nothing more.
Still, for that kind of money, she had to grit her teeth and play along.
Just as she was about to step forward, Chi Ye suddenly turned around.
“You’re still here. Do you plan to help me get dressed?”
Chu Jin reacted quickly and shook her head. “I’ll leave now, President Chi.”
She practically ran out the door in two large steps. Only after closing it behind her did she finally relax.
Leaning against the door, she let out a long breath.
This money was not going to be easy to earn.
“Madam, are you alright?”
Assistant He had appeared at some point and asked with genuine concern.
Chu Jin jumped in surprise, pressing a hand over her chest and taking a sharp breath.
“Why do you walk so quietly, just like President Chi?”
“I’m sorry, Madam,” Assistant He said, lowering her head apologetically.
Chu Jin waved her hand and suddenly had an idea. Her eyes lit up, and she grabbed Assistant He’s arm, pulling her down the stairs.
Assistant He looked extremely uncomfortable, trying to resist but not daring to struggle too much. If President Chi found out, the consequences would be serious. She might scold her coldly or, worse, dock her pay.
And for a working assistant, losing money was the ultimate punishment.
Still conflicted, she was already being pulled downstairs by Chu Jin.
Chu Jin stopped in the living room, looked around to make sure no one else was there, then finally let go of Assistant He and whispered,
“Assistant He, I want to ask you something.”
Assistant He straightened her sleeves, then took a step back to put half a meter between them before replying respectfully,
“Please go ahead, Madam.”
“Did President Chi always have someone help her bathe and dry her hair before?”
Chu Jin spoke quietly, but her expressive face clearly showed all the confusion and curiosity in her heart.
He Xian answered like a robot. “That is President Chi’s private matter. I am not aware.”
“But aren’t you her personal assistant?” Chu Jin asked in return.
He Xian’s reply was precise. “Even a personal assistant must keep President Chi’s private life confidential.”
Feeling blocked and frustrated, Chu Jin became anxious. She could not help raising her voice and said bluntly, “I am her wife, not an outsider. Why can’t I know?”
He Xian opened her mouth to respond, but her gaze suddenly moved past Chu Jin and paused for a moment. Then she lowered her eyes and stayed silent.
Chu Jin instantly had a bad feeling. As expected, when she turned around, she saw Chi Ye standing right behind her, calm and expressionless.
Chi Ye had changed into a silk robe. The champagne color matched her elegant style perfectly. She now wore a pair of silver-rimmed glasses, which added an extra touch of dignity and distance to her already cool and refined appearance.
She stood right in front of Chu Jin, a faint scent of cedar lingering around her.
“We haven’t registered our marriage yet,” Chi Ye said slowly. “Please watch your words, Miss Chu.”
Now she was back to calling her Miss Chu. Wasn’t she the one who told everyone to address her as Madam in the first place?
Chu Jin felt like screaming at her, pointing right at her nose, and telling her off.
But she did not dare. This was her golden ticket. She had to hold on tightly.
“Come on, we are going to register this afternoon anyway,” Chu Jin said with a sweet smile, her eyes curving into a playful expression.
Her beauty had a bold, striking charm. She was like a poisonous flower—dangerous but irresistible.
At that moment, her soft smile made her look like a sly little fox who had rolled over to reveal her fluffy belly, pretending to be innocent and asking for affection.
Whatever annoyance Chi Ye had felt earlier faded quietly with that smile.
But she still did not reply. Instead, she turned to He Xian and said calmly, “We will go to the civil affairs bureau at three this afternoon. Arrange for a driver.”
“Understood,” He Xian nodded and left the room.
Chu Jin followed Chi Ye to the dining room to have breakfast.
A fresh bouquet of flowers stood at the corner of the table, releasing a light and elegant fragrance.
Breakfast had already been set. Freshly made pastries were served on delicate plates. Everything was lovely and refined, but Chu Jin rarely had much appetite in the morning. She ate a small piece of cake, one fried egg, and drank half a cup of black coffee. Following the meal plan, she forced herself to eat a few pieces of fruit, but by then her stomach already felt uncomfortably full.
Chi Ye continued eating while looking at her laptop, focused on her work.
Chu Jin did not want to disturb her. After finishing her meal, she moved to the living room sofa and started playing on her phone.
Eventually, out of boredom, she opened the front camera and secretly took a selfie with Chi Ye in the background.
In the photo, Chu Jin made a fierce face, glaring at Chi Ye who was sitting in the corner, completely focused on her laptop.
With one click of the shutter, she released all her irritation from the morning.
“What are you doing?”
Just as she snapped the picture, Chi Ye suddenly looked up.
Chu Jin quickly turned off the camera and pretended nothing had happened, casually swiping her phone.
“Just on my phone, waiting for you to finish your work.”
Thankfully, Chi Ye did not notice anything strange and lowered her head again, returning to her work.
Chu Jin had no schedule today, so she could finally rest. Once she signed with Yijing Media next week, she would not have this kind of free time anymore.
She yawned.
She had gotten up quite early, and now, curled up on the sofa, sleepiness quietly crept over her.
By the time Chi Ye finished her tasks, she noticed the living room had gone silent.
She closed her laptop and walked over, finding Chu Jin fast asleep on the sofa.
A thoughtful maid brought over a blanket. Chi Ye took it, then leaned down and gently covered Chu Jin.
At that exact moment, Chu Jin suddenly opened her eyes.
It was hard for her to fall into a deep sleep in a strange environment, especially in broad daylight during a short nap.
But the moment she opened her eyes, she immediately regretted it.
Why could she never break the habit of waking up right when things got awkward?
They locked eyes. The atmosphere became unbearably uncomfortable.
It was obvious that Chi Ye had just covered her with the blanket.
Chu Jin could not think of a single reason why someone like Chi Ye would do something so considerate. She was proud, elegant, and distant. Why would she care?
Just as her thoughts began to drift toward dangerous assumptions, wondering if Chi Ye might actually be interested in her, someone appeared at the doorway.
And that instantly shattered her daydream.
Without missing a beat, Chu Jin wrapped an arm around Chi Ye’s neck and said sweetly, “Wife, you are so good to me.”
Chi Ye looked completely confused.
“What?”
Standing in the doorway, Yan Sisi was speechless.
She stared at the two of them in silence, completely stunned.
