After Marrying the Cold Omega in Secret (GL, ABO) - Chapter 5
A surprise?
Chu Jin found it hard to connect that word with Chi Ye.
While she was still completely confused, He Zhu opened the car door for her.
Inside, the back seat, which had been empty just moments ago, now held an enormous bouquet of pale pink roses. The petals were delicate and soft, glowing with a gentle, misty sheen. The bouquet was elegantly wrapped and tied with a large white silk bow, refined yet with a girlish charm.
No woman could resist flowers, especially a bouquet this large.
Chu Jin stared in a daze, unable to stop herself from reaching out to gently touch one of the blossoms.
As her gaze lowered, she noticed a deep navy-blue box placed beside the bouquet, marked with the letters “HW.”
Chu Jin didn’t have much money, but she had always enjoyed following jewelry brands. If she remembered correctly, HW stood for Harry Winston.
A brand so luxurious its prices were far beyond anything she could ever dream of affording.
“Open it and take a look,” Chi Ye said.
Chu Jin glanced at him, then picked up the box and gently opened it.
Inside was an oval-shaped pink diamond ring.
The center stone was five carats, surrounded by a halo of small diamonds.
The diamond was pure and crystal clear. Every facet sparkled with brilliant light, and its soft pink hue made it all the more dreamy and dazzling.
This was the kind of ring girls dreamed about. Chu Jin couldn’t take her eyes off it.
Her eyes began to sting slightly. This was the first time she had ever received such a beautiful gift—both the flowers and the diamond ring.
Seeing how entranced she was, a rare softness appeared on Chi Ye’s usually indifferent face.
He took the ring box from her hands, removed the ring, and gently took Chu Jin’s left hand.
“Let me put it on for you,” he said softly.
It wasn’t her imagination. His voice was genuinely gentle.
Chu Jin lowered her gaze. Her long, dark lashes fluttered like butterfly wings as she watched him slide the ring onto her finger.
The ring fit her perfectly.
Her fingers were already slender and fair. Wearing this ring made it look like it had been crafted just for her. Her usual elegance now shimmered with a new grace and refined nobility.
“Happy wedding day, Chu Jin.”
Chi Ye looked into her eyes and spoke softly.
At that moment, emotions flooded her chest, so intense they almost spilled over. In the end, she poured all her feelings into one heartfelt response.
“Thank you, President Chi! I swear from now on, I’ll never make you angry again! Whatever you ask, I’ll do it! If you say go east, I swear I won’t take a single step west! Not one word of complaint from me!”
Chu Jin’s vow was filled with enthusiasm, but just as she finished, she noticed the softness in Chi Ye’s eyes had vanished. Without a word, he turned and got into the other side of the car.
He Zhu removed the bouquet, making room for her to sit. Chu Jin quickly climbed in and leaned toward Chi Ye, eager to continue talking.
“From the first time I met you, President Chi, I knew you were a generous and powerful man. Signing that contract with you was the smartest decision I’ve ever made. Let me tell you—”
“The contract is signed, and the certificate is received,” Chi Ye interrupted, glancing at her. His voice had returned to its usual cold tone. “And you’re still calling me President Chi?”
Chu Jin didn’t expect that. She casually waved her hand and said bluntly, “President Chi, you gave me such an expensive gift today, so I’ll be honest with you. I know the only reason you signed this contract with me is to get back at Yan Sisi.”
Chi Ye looked at her, puzzled.
He couldn’t understand what was going on in her head.
Chu Jin gave him a knowing look, as if she understood everything, and continued without hesitation. “She stayed with me for three years, and now you’re marrying me for three years. Isn’t that clearly out of spite? I get it. I’m just a tool between the two of you. I understand completely.”
Chi Ye narrowed his eyes slightly, interested to hear what else she had to say.
“So, since you’re paying me, I’ll make sure to do my job.” Chu Jin was on a roll now, pouring her thoughts out. “Besides following all the terms in the contract, I’ll also act close and affectionate with you whenever Yan Sisi shows up. I’ll make her jealous on purpose.”
Chi Ye seemed thoughtful. “That works.”
“So, about how I address you…” Chu Jin lowered her voice and tried to sound sweet, raising her eyebrows at him. “When Yan Sisi is around, of course I’ll change how I speak. But in private, when it’s just us, calling you President Chi feels more respectful. Don’t you think I make a good point?”
Chi Ye wasn’t fooled by her attempt to steer the conversation. He asked, “Then shouldn’t I check your acting skills first?”
Even actors had to audition. Chu Jin, being one herself, had no excuse.
So, she slipped into character without hesitation.
Although she had only filmed a few short movies, her acting wasn’t bad. At the very least, she could get into character quickly. Within seconds, her eyes were filled with emotion, a soft glow flickering like water. She looked at Chi Ye with parted lips, her voice husky, like a whisper in the heat of passion.
“Wife.”
Chi Ye appeared calm, but beneath the surface, a ripple stirred in his heart.
“Was that convincing enough? Wife.” Chu Jin leaned in a little closer, her breath brushing past his ear, her tone intimate yet laced with the commanding confidence of an alpha.
Chi Ye looked away from her eyes and responded quietly, “Yes.”
Chu Jin knew when to stop and didn’t dare to push her luck any further.
The car fell into a long silence, with the remnants of their earlier “scene rehearsal” still lingering faintly in the air.
After some hesitation, Chu Jin guessed that Chi Ye might be in a relatively good mood now. She decided to take a chance and spoke cautiously.
“President Chi, since I’ve been trying so hard, do you think we could maybe discuss something?”
“What is it?”
Chi Ye’s tone was not particularly pleasant. In fact, it sounded slightly stiff and strained, as if she were holding something back.
“It’s about the contract, the parts that mention bathing together and warming the bed. Can we skip those?” Chu Jin explained quickly. “I mean, this is a contractual marriage, and since you’re only doing this to get back at Yan Sisi, shouldn’t there be some boundaries in that area?”
She was trying to appeal to Chi Ye’s rationality, hoping she wouldn’t let revenge cloud her judgment.
Chu Jin added softly, “And when I was with Yan Sisi, we never even held hands.”
“That’s her choice,” Chi Ye replied bluntly. “Just because she didn’t do something doesn’t mean I won’t.”
Chu Jin fell silent.
“If you don’t want to, that’s fine too.”
Her eyes lit up at those words, and the corners of her lips had just started to lift when Chi Ye followed up with a sentence that completely snuffed out that tiny flame of hope.
“Every time you refuse, there’s a penalty of one million.”
Chi Ye said it so calmly, as if one million yuan was just spare change.
The last thing Chu Jin ever wanted to hear was the word “penalty.” She immediately backtracked on her request.
“I’ll do everything. Just please don’t deduct my pay. Let’s pretend I didn’t say anything.”
Chi Ye didn’t respond. She leaned back into her seat and closed her eyes to rest.
With nothing else to do, Chu Jin let her thoughts wander back over their earlier conversation.
It was only then that she realized something. The way they had been talking about “doing it or not” sounded more than a little suggestive.
There was still some time before they would arrive at the villa. Whether it was from the fresh flowers earlier or a faint trace of perfume, there was a light scent in the car.
It was very faint, barely noticeable, but it gave Chu Jin a strange feeling of restlessness.
She closed her eyes and, overwhelmed by the scent and drowsiness, slowly drifted off to sleep.
As soon as the car pulled up in front of the villa, Chi Ye got out immediately without waking the sleeping Chu Jin.
He Zhu had already received instructions while they were on the road.
She helped support Chi Ye as they made their way upstairs to the second floor.
“President Chi, the suppressant is ready. It’s in the drawer by the bed.”
He Zhu was a beta and couldn’t detect any pheromone scents. Aside from handling day-to-day business, it was her job to make sure Chi Ye had suppressants and scent blockers prepared each month.
But this time, the heat had come three days early.
Right after Chu Jin called her “wife,” Chi Ye had felt that something was wrong with her pheromones. She wasn’t sure if it was the flowers in the car or something else, but that faint scent of roses had been impossible to ignore.
She had held herself together the whole ride, enduring the discomfort until they reached the bedroom.
Once inside, Chi Ye locked the door behind her. She hadn’t even made it to the drawer before her strength gave out, and she collapsed onto the bed.
The heat spread from her lower abdomen throughout her body like fire. Beads of sweat formed along her forehead as she lay on the soft mattress, feeling as though she were floating in a dreamlike haze. Yet the burning inside her was all too real and unbearable.
Her cheeks were flushed, her eyes wet at the corners. Desire rolled over her like waves, breaking down her self-control. Her shoulders trembled slightly as she fought against the overwhelming urge.
Eventually, her last shred of rationality crumbled. A soft, helpless moan escaped from between her clenched teeth.
