After Marrying the Cold Omega in Secret (GL, ABO) - Chapter 6
Chu Jin was eventually woken up by He Zhu. As she stepped out of the car, she looked around and noticed that Chi Ye was nowhere to be seen.
“Where’s President Chi?” she asked, confused.
He Zhu paused for a second and replied, “President Chi had something to take care of.”
Chu Jin nodded.
Suddenly, she felt an itch at the back of her neck. She reached up and touched it, realizing that the edge of her scent-blocking patch had come loose.
This could easily lead to pheromone leakage. Thankfully, He Zhu was a beta and didn’t sense anything unusual.
Chu Jin quickly walked toward the villa. Fortunately, she had packed extra patches that morning, and they were in her bag upstairs in the bedroom.
Pressing her hand over the gland at the back of her neck, she hurried upstairs. Just as she reached her bedroom door, she heard the sound of a door opening.
It was Chi Ye’s room.
The two of them locked eyes, both freezing in place for a moment.
Chi Ye was wearing a bathrobe and looked like she had just finished showering.
Chu Jin stopped walking and lowered her hand from the back of her neck.
She noticed that Chi Ye’s hair was still wet and asked gently, “Would you like me to help dry your hair?”
Chi Ye immediately picked up the scent of Chu Jin’s pheromones. It was a faint rose fragrance, now noticeably stronger than it had been in the car.
Her mind couldn’t help but recall the scene from earlier, when she had struggled to keep control. A soft blush crept up to the tips of her ears.
“No need.”
Chi Ye responded coldly and closed the door.
A soft blend of mint and sweet orange wafted out from the slight opening.
“Did she eat an orange?” Chu Jin murmured to herself, puzzled.
Without dwelling on whether she had said something wrong again, Chu Jin quickly returned to her room. Only after replacing the scent patch with a fresh one did she finally relax.
She rested for a while, changed into a comfortable set of loungewear, and then slowly made her way downstairs.
By then, only the housekeeper and He Zhu were still in the villa.
“President Chi has something to deal with and will be away for a few days,” He Zhu reported as soon as she saw Chu Jin.
“She left that quickly? Without even saying goodbye?” Chu Jin acted concerned, but inside she was secretly delighted.
The busier she is, the less I have to serve her.
Finally, I can enjoy some peace.
Chu Jin took the glass of freshly squeezed juice offered by Aunt Song and took a sip. She tried to sound casual as she asked, “Did President Chi mention how many days she’ll be gone?”
“No, she didn’t,” He Zhu replied with a shake of her head.
A bit disappointed at the lack of details, Chu Jin sighed and placed her juice down on the table. “Alright then.”
Although she had gained some temporary freedom, she didn’t like the feeling of uncertainty. Not knowing how long it would last made her uneasy.
Meanwhile, He Zhu lowered her head and unlocked her phone.
She opened the chat window with President Chi and typed a brief message.
“Madam seems reluctant to see you leave.”
Before she left, President Chi had instructed He Zhu to report Madam’s movements and emotional state at all times.
Movements were simple to report, just going upstairs and downstairs. Emotions, however, required a bit of interpretation.
Chu Jin had just settled comfortably into the sofa and was about to open a video app when she saw a message notification pop up on her phone.
She tapped it open.
It was from Chi Ye. Since adding each other the night before, they hadn’t exchanged any messages.
President Chi: I’ll be back soon.
Chu Jin sat up straight in surprise.
She hadn’t expected Chi Ye to message her first, much less say something like that.
After sending the message, Chi Ye stared at the screen, watching the words “The other person is typing” for a whole minute before a reply finally arrived.
Chu Jin: President Chi, don’t worry. Just focus on your work. I’ll take good care of myself~
She even added a cute little cat emoji.
Chi Ye narrowed her eyes slightly. There didn’t seem to be any reluctance in that message at all.
She replied with a simple “Alright” and placed her phone face down on the table.
After seeing that the message was sent, the director sitting across from her, Qin Shiyun, finally spoke. She wanted to confirm what Chi Ye had just said.
“President Chi, you really meant what you said about investing in the show?”
Chi Ye rested one hand on the table and tapped her fingers lightly. She lifted her eyes and looked at her.
“As long as you follow my instructions, I will handle the funding.”
“Absolutely,” Qin Shiyun nodded eagerly. “I’ll follow your guidance exactly.”
She was a new director who had been preparing a dating reality show called Meeting the One. The proposal and scripts had already been written, but the show had been shelved for months due to lack of sponsors and funding.
That delay had lasted for half a year.
Just yesterday, she received a call from someone willing to invest fifty million yuan. At first, she thought it was a prank. But now, sitting in front of her, was none other than Chi Ye, the youngest daughter of the Chi family, who at only twenty-four was already the president of three companies. It was clearly not a joke.
She was a dream investor.
“I’ll start preparing right away. We’ll get the production started as soon as possible.”
With Chi Ye gone, Chu Jin finally had the house to herself. But after two days of lounging around, she started to feel bored. She couldn’t help but go out for a walk.
Guanhe Villa was large, with each house featuring a private garden. The landscaping followed a French garden style, delicately designed and surrounded by natural greenery, creating a tranquil and elegant atmosphere.
Chu Jin took a different route, passing through the side path made of stone steps. Eventually, she pushed open a small gate and stepped out of the courtyard.
She wore a flowing white dress. Her hair was loosely tied up, and a few strands of fine hair framed her face. A gentle breeze lifted them as they brushed across her forehead and cheeks. She reached up to tuck them behind her ears, her whole presence relaxed and graceful in the warm morning sunlight.
She followed the path upward and soon came upon a grassy field shaded by trees. At its center was a small lake.
It was early in the day, and a few people were out walking their dogs, though none of them were familiar to her.
She hadn’t exercised much lately, so her stamina had dropped. After just a short walk, she felt tired and took a seat on a bench by the lake, tilting her head back and closing her eyes to soak in the sunlight.
Her skin was already pale, but under the sunlight, it gained a soft pink glow. Her complexion was smooth and delicate, like fine porcelain.
“Duoduo, don’t run too far!”
A sweet, feminine voice rang out from behind her.
Chu Jin immediately felt a sense of familiarity.
She was sure she had heard that voice somewhere before.
Before Chu Jin could even open her eyes, she suddenly felt something soft and furry brush against her feet.
Startled by the unknown sensation, she let out a small scream and quickly pulled her feet back.
When she saw it was just a chubby golden retriever puppy, she finally breathed a sigh of relief.
The puppy looked to be only a few months old, yet it was plump and adorably round. With its big round eyes, it tried to nuzzle up to her.
Chu Jin had always loved furry animals, especially dogs and cats. Seeing the little golden retriever instantly melted her heart. She bent down and gently patted its head.
Just then, the dog’s owner finally arrived.
“I’m so sorry. I didn’t hold onto the leash properly. Did it scare you?”
Chu Jin looked up and was stunned to see an incredibly familiar face. She had only ever seen this person on screen, but now she was standing right in front of her.
She could hardly believe it. She had unexpectedly run into the famous actress Qu Miaoyan.
In person, Qu Miaoyan was even more beautiful than on screen. She had that sweet, youthful charm with bright eyes and flawless skin. Her features were delicate, and her natural beauty gave her an effortless girl-next-door appeal.
In truth, she was probably older than Chu Jin, but her looks and style made her appear younger, like a cheerful younger sister.
Among actresses, if anyone embodied pure youthful energy, it was Qu Miaoyan. If she was the second best, no one would dare claim the first. In recent years, she had dominated roles in both films and television dramas with this signature style. Despite her young age, she was already considered a rising star.
She was also the ideal type for many alphas.
Including Chu Jin’s childhood friend, Song Xunyu.
Song Xunyu had always liked Qu Miaoyan. She once pulled every connection she could find and spent a small fortune just to get a signed photo of her. She also watched every show Qu starred in, dragging Chu Jin along each time during their school years.
Chu Jin wasn’t exactly a die-hard fan, but it was still exciting to meet such a major celebrity in real life.
In response to her apology, Chu Jin quickly waved her hand with a smile. “It’s totally fine. Duoduo is adorable. I wasn’t scared at all.”
Qu Miaoyan’s gaze lingered on Chu Jin’s face for a moment, clearly intrigued by her looks. Her eyes softened, and she reached out her hand with a gentle voice.
“Hello, I’m Qu Miaoyan. I’m an actress.”
She had actually taken the initiative to introduce herself and offer a handshake.
Chu Jin never imagined she would see a moment like this, but she had enough composure not to let her excitement show. She returned the handshake with a graceful smile.
“I’m Chu Jin. A small-time actress,” she replied. Then she couldn’t help adding, “I know you. I’ve watched your shows.”
“Really?” Qu Miaoyan blinked. She seemed pleased. “Which ones?”
Chu Jin began to list them one by one. “First Snow, The Girl in My Memory, Miss Shi, You’re Late… and more.”
Qu Miaoyan smiled warmly when she heard the titles. Her voice was gentle as water. “Sounds like you really are a loyal fan, Miss Chu.”
“My best friend is the one who’s truly obsessed with you. Every time you have a new show, she drags me along to watch it,” Chu Jin said honestly, not noticing the subtle change in Qu Miaoyan’s tone.
But Qu Miaoyan’s smile slowly faded. Her voice took on a hint of disappointment. “So you don’t actually like me?”
“I…” Chu Jin was caught off guard by the question. Her mind blanked for a moment.
Although the atmosphere suddenly felt a little strange, her brain quickly kicked into gear, and she composed her response.
“You’re my senior. Someone I look up to. You’re more than someone I like, you’re someone I admire. You’re an inspiration to me.”
Hearing that, Qu Miaoyan beamed. Her amber-colored eyes sparkled in the sunlight like flawless gems.
Although Chu Jin was currently bound by a contract with Chi Ye, and she would receive a large sum of money three years later, the future was uncertain. So she had no intention of giving up on her career. This conversation with Qu Miaoyan was also a valuable opportunity that could help her in the industry later on.
And soon enough, she saw results. As they parted ways, Qu Miaoyan offered to exchange contact information.
Just like that, Chu Jin added the famous actress Qu Miaoyan on WeChat.
The moment they separated, Chu Jin excitedly called Song Xunyu to share the news that would definitely make her jealous.
Meanwhile, not far away, He Zhu quietly lowered her head, opened her phone, and reported the entire encounter to President Chi.
After receiving the message, Chi Ye slammed her phone onto the table. Her face turned dark in an instant, startling Yan Sisi who was sitting beside her.
“What’s wrong? Are you not feeling well?”
Chi Ye didn’t respond.
Yan Sisi glanced sideways. With her sharp vision, she managed to glimpse the message on Chi Ye’s phone.
She saw that it was about Chu Jin. At first, she thought about teasing Chi Ye with a smirk. But when she spotted Qu Miaoyan’s name, her expression changed, and her brows furrowed deeply.
“How did your wife end up running into her?”
