After Marrying the Cold Omega in Secret (GL, ABO) - Chapter 9
Even on the day of filming, Chu Jin still found it hard to believe that Chi Ye was really going to be part of the show, and not just her, but Yan Sisi as well.
After dinner that night, Chu Jin had gone home and searched the variety show’s investment company. As expected, Senxi Media turned out to be one of the Chi family’s businesses. Chi Ye, as an investor, had personally funded the show with fifty million yuan. In that case, it was understandable that she would appear on the program as well.
The problem was that all three of them were now participating. That made things complicated. Chu Jin couldn’t shake the strange feeling lingering inside her, even though she couldn’t quite pinpoint what was wrong. She felt uneasy, but she imagined the other two were probably comfortable with the setup. In fact, they might even be happy for the opportunity to spend more time together thanks to the show.
People who joined this kind of reality program were usually not seriously looking for love. Most participants, like Chu Jin, came for exposure, hoping to gain popularity and build a fan base for their careers or future in social media.
But for Chi Ye and Yan Sisi, who had once been romantically involved, participating in a dating show meant they would be experiencing a real relationship on screen.
Chu Jin was honestly a little worried.
What if, because of the show, they rekindled their relationship and got back together? Would Chi Ye want a divorce right away? If that happened, would Chu Jin still receive the ten billion yuan promised in their agreement?
She stared blankly at the cityscape outside the car window, not really paying attention to the view.
This was something she would have to bring up with Chi Ye sooner or later.
Since the show was being broadcast live, and there was no set time when filming would start, Chu Jin wanted to avoid drawing attention to her connection with Chi Ye. That day, she took a taxi to the filming location instead of using a private car.
The production team had rented a small villa on the outskirts of the city for the shoot.
The surrounding scenery was beautiful. In front of the villa was a tree-lined path, perfect for evening walks. If you followed the path through the dense trees, you would arrive at the Linhe River. As the sun set, golden light spread across the water, casting sparkling ripples across the surface.
Chu Jin pulled her suitcase along the walkway and arrived at the entrance to the villa. A pink sign stood at the door with the name of the show written on it in large letters: The One Who Moves My Heart.
This program was unique in that it only invited female guests, four Omegas and four Alphas. To create suspense and increase audience engagement, none of the participants were allowed to reveal their secondary gender. Instead, everyone had to rely on observation and intuition to figure it out during their interactions.
Chu Jin had a feeling things were going to get very interesting later on.
Especially when it came to each person’s biological cycles.
She could only hope nothing too chaotic would happen.
Just as she reached the door, a cameraman began filming her.
To match her elegant and intellectual character role, Chu Jin had carefully chosen her outfit. She wore a sleeveless dark gray top with a black silk midi skirt, paired with strappy high-heeled sandals. Her accessories included a pair of understated earrings and a Chanel handbag. The overall look was refined, mature, and subtly luxurious.
Except for the handbag, everything else was from her own wardrobe. She didn’t dare wear any of the high-end designer pieces from the closet in her house, afraid of standing out too much.
There was one thing she could not remove, however—the ring.
Chi Ye had made it clear she was not allowed to take it off.
Left with no choice, Chu Jin discreetly turned the ring around so the diamond faced her palm.
As the camera zoomed in on her, Chu Jin quickly adjusted her expression and stepped into her role.
“Are we filming already?” she asked gently.
By now, the footage had already gone live. This show was the first of its kind in the country, and thanks to heavy investment in marketing ahead of time, tens of thousands of viewers were waiting online. The moment the broadcast began, more than fifty thousand people had joined the live room.
As Chu Jin appeared on screen, the comment section exploded with excitement.
Comments flew across the screen.
“This woman is gorgeous. So elegant.”
“I wonder what her designation is.”
“I love her already.”
“She has to be an Omega. She looks so gentle.”
“I think she’s pretending to be an Omega. She gives off Alpha vibes.”
“I agree. Definitely an Alpha.”
“No doubt. She’s totally Alpha.”
Even though the cameraman didn’t respond to her question, Chu Jin knew the live stream had started and that her every move might be broadcast. She maintained a graceful and polished smile throughout.
She rolled her suitcase into the house and stepped into the shoe-changing area.
There were eight new pairs of slippers neatly lined up by the door.
It looked like she was the first to arrive.
After putting on a pair of slippers, Chu Jin noticed a silver tray on top of the shoe cabinet. In the tray were four types of flowers, two of each kind.
Before coming here, Chu Jin had watched several other dating shows for research. She recognized right away that the flowers were likely used for pairing guests into teams.
Next to the tray was a mission card with a single sentence printed on it.
“Please choose the flower that speaks to your heart.”
Although she was the only one there, Chu Jin stayed aware of the camera and spoke to it as if talking to the audience.
She pointed at the tray and said, “Are these for drawing lots?”
Her eyes swept over the flowers. There were bellflowers, tulips, moth orchids, and roses.
Chu Jin did not hesitate. No matter the setting, she would always choose the rose. Even though this one was a simple white rose, she picked it up without a second thought.
After entering the house, the director gave a hint. She was allowed to go upstairs and find the bedroom that matched her chosen flower.
So it really was a random draw.
“Are we really sharing rooms in pairs?” she said quietly, still keeping the audience in mind.
“This rule is pretty bold.”
After all, no one knew who they would be paired with.
Chu Jin didn’t mind, as long as it wasn’t Chi Ye. But then she thought about it again. With so many different flower types, the chances of both her and Chi Ye picking the rose were quite low. Besides, Chi Ye was one of the investors. She could easily ask the director to assign her to share a room with Yan Sisi.
The audience seemed to be thinking the same thing.
“This is intense. I feel like drama is coming.”
“They’re really pushing the boundaries.”
“I’m definitely watching this show.”
“If an Alpha and an Omega end up in the same room, that could get wild.”
“I’m ready. Bring on the drama.”
After learning that the rose bedroom was on the second floor, Chu Jin picked up her suitcase and went upstairs.
Though she appeared slim, Chu Jin had been working out regularly. Her arms were toned with lean muscle, so she had no problem carrying the suitcase up the stairs.
She walked through the hallway, passed the bellflower room, turned another corner, and finally found the rose room tucked away in a quiet spot.
Inside was the bedroom. There were two beds placed very close to each other, offering almost no privacy. Near the balcony was a desk, and to the side, a door led to a walk-in closet.
At least there was a space where she could change clothes.
To the right of the entrance was a bathroom. It wasn’t as spacious as the one in Chi Ye’s villa, but it was clean and well-maintained.
Chu Jin placed her luggage in the room, then headed back downstairs to wait for the others in the living room.
She poured herself a glass of water and sat for a long time. No one else arrived. If this had not been a live broadcast, she would have curled up on the couch with her phone. But since they were live, and the director kept motioning for her to stay active, she had to keep moving.
Chu Jin got up and strolled around the first floor. The layout was typical for a dating show. The living room was spacious and comfortable, and the kitchen next to it was open-concept, designed for convenient filming of cooking scenes, which were always a major part of these shows.
The living room had floor-to-ceiling windows, and beside them was a glass door that led to a small courtyard outside. It opened into a cozy little garden with a swing and a table with chairs, perfect for chatting or enjoying a meal outdoors.
Behind the villa was a swimming pool. It had already been cleaned and filled with clear water. Sun umbrellas and lounge chairs were neatly set up.
There was going to be a pool scene?
Chu Jin felt a slight flicker of surprise in her heart.
A smile of delighted curiosity appeared on her face. “Wow, there’s even a pool.”
Back in college, Chu Jin had been on the swim team. She had represented her university in numerous competitions and even won a few awards.
Since graduating, she hadn’t been in the water for a while. Now, seeing the pool brought back those memories and made her genuinely happy.
The live stream cut to a close-up of the pool. Viewers went wild with excitement in the comments.
“A pool? The production team really knows how to play!”
“A pool party would be amazing!”
“I’m getting more and more excited!”
“We need some interactive games! It would be so entertaining!”
After making a full round of the first floor, Chu Jin figured the next guests should be arriving soon, so she returned to the living room.
She had just sat down when she heard some noise at the front door. Looking up, she saw two silhouettes reflected in the glass panel.
They were probably still changing shoes and choosing their flowers.
Out of politeness, Chu Jin stood up and walked slowly toward the door to greet them.
Since the order of arrival was completely random, no one would know who had arrived first. Chu Jin figured that if one of them turned out to be Chi Ye, she could at least find a way to subtly hint that she shouldn’t choose the rose.
After all, this was the perfect chance for Chi Ye and Yan Sisi to share a room and have time to reconnect.
With that thought, Chu Jin picked up her pace a little and raised her voice slightly, putting on an excited smile.
“Finally, someone else is here!”
Just as she reached the door and was about to touch the handle, it swung open from the other side.
Of all people, it just had to be her.
The first face she saw was Chi Ye.
She was dressed in a sharply designed shirt paired with loose-fitting suit pants. Her long hair was left down, straight and smooth, draping over her chest. Her eyes were cool and distant, and she wore a pair of silver-rimmed glasses, which softened her usual intimidating presence and gave her a more refined, intellectual look.
Today, Chi Ye looked exactly like she had the first time Chu Jin met her—stunningly beautiful, cold as ice, and breathtaking to behold.
It wasn’t just Chu Jin who was stunned. The comment section of the livestream instantly exploded.
“I love her! She’s so powerful!”
“That’s such Alpha energy!”
“Why do I feel like these two have chemistry?”
“I thought I was the only one who noticed!”
“The cast is so attractive this season. Is there any way to sign up for the next one?”
Before anyone could speak, the camera shifted, just like Chu Jin’s gaze, and focused on the flower Chi Ye was holding in her hand.
The screen showed a close-up.
It was a white rose.
Chi Ye was casually holding the stem between her long fingers. The gesture was elegant and relaxed, but her fingertips carried a hint of playful arrogance.
“No way! She picked the rose? I’m hooked!”
“This is killing me. The tension is too real!”
“Two Alphas. Please, do not ship them!”
Seeing the sudden spike in viewers, the production team added music and gave the two of them a slow-motion highlight sequence with a detailed close-up.
The comments were flying non-stop. Chu Jin’s heart was in turmoil, though she kept her expression composed.
Just then, another person stepped out from behind Chi Ye.
It was Yan Sisi.
So the two had arrived together. Yan Sisi was pulling her suitcase with one hand and spinning a single iris in the other.
Chu Jin almost choked on her own breath.
She stared at the two very different flowers in their hands, nearly shouting in her mind, Are you two seriously still being this stubborn? How are you not picking the same flower at a time like this?!
