- After My Ex-Husband Sent Me to Prison, I Married His Brother
- Chapter 9 - Are You Regretting Choosing Me?
“Was it me who ruined your life?”
Facing his accusation, Lin Yihuan finally understood what it meant to be falsely blamed and have no way to defend yourself.
“Of course it was you! If you hadn’t said three years ago that you wanted to marry me, then Jin Xue wouldn’t have risked everything to get me. Maybe by now, we’d be living a happy, perfect family!”
“But if I said I wanted to marry you, why didn’t you refuse?”
Zhou Jifeng’s expression turned sharp. “That’s because of my grandfather—”
Lin Yihuan cut him off directly, “No matter what the reason was, you didn’t refuse the marriage back then. That was your choice, and you have to bear the consequences yourself!”
Just like how she herself had been wrongly accused of murder, locked up, and spent three years chasing after a marriage that left her with nothing—she bore all that on her own.
“…”
“Zhou Jifeng, from now on, I hope we never meet again.” Lin Yihuan pointed toward the door. “Please leave my home.”
Looking at her thin, almost exhausted face, her voice barely changed, but the determination in her eyes was unusually strong.
Zhou Jifeng felt as if his heart was suddenly squeezed tightly by a pair of big hands!
The pain made him instinctively arch his back.
He wanted to say something, but out of the corner of his eye, he suddenly noticed a black windbreaker jacket lying on the living room sofa!
Zhou Jifeng recognized it—it was his younger brother Zhou Linze’s.
“You’re asking me to leave, but you welcome Linze upstairs?!”
With his reminder, Lin Yihuan suddenly remembered she had forgotten to return the jacket after getting off the car.
But none of this had anything to do with Zhou Jifeng anymore.
She repeated, “You’re leaving.”
“Are you regretting choosing me?” Zhou Jifeng suddenly furrowed his thick brows, his face dark as ink. “Let me tell you, even if you regret it, it’s too late! Don’t think just because Linze came to the prison to pick you up and spoke a few words for you, that he has feelings for you! Linze only feels responsible because you grew up together!”
“Right now, Linze is thriving in his career in England, surrounded by countless women chasing after him. There’s no way he’d fall for a divorced woman with a second marriage and a prison record like you! Don’t even think about interfering or trying to come between us brothers!”
Just as he finished speaking, urgent knocking came from outside the door!
Lin Yihuan and Zhou Jifeng both looked over, but since Zhou Jifeng was closer, he tightened his handsome face and opened the door.
To his surprise, it was the very person he said was “absolutely impossible.”
“Linze? What are you doing here?”
The words sounded strange.
As soon as they came out, it felt like he was the owner of the house, and Zhou Linze was an outsider.
What’s more, Zhou Linze was slightly taller than his older brother. When he looked down at people, it gave off a certain pressure.
“Shouldn’t I be the one asking—what’s the big brother doing here?”
Zhou Jifeng answered coldly and confidently, “I’m here to deal with family matters with your wife.”
The implication was clear.
Zhou Linze smiled, ignoring his brother’s obstruction, and fixed his dark eyes on the woman behind him.
After confirming she was safe, he spoke in a low voice, “Then I’m here to—”
Suddenly, Lin Yihuan realized what Zhou Linze was about to say and immediately raised her voice to take over his words.
“He’s here to pick up his jacket! Right?”
After speaking, Lin Yihuan quickly gave Zhou Linze a look.
But that guy refused to give her face. “Is that so?”
“…”
“Well, then it must be.”
Zhou Linze pushed Zhou Jifeng aside without hesitation, strode into the living room, and grabbed his black windbreaker.
Before leaving, his dark eyes lingered on her for a few seconds, then turned to the man by the door.
“Big brother, coming with me?”
