- Chapter 5 – First Day of School! Is It Okay to Go to the Nurse’s Office?
“Big brother! If you don’t hurry, we’re really going to be late! I’m leaving now!”
Hinami’s voice echoed from the other side of the door.
When I glanced at the clock hanging on the wall, it read 7:30.
“Hey, come to think of it—I just reincarnated. I don’t even know where my school is.”
“As I expected you’d say that—ta-daa! Behind this door is the school you’ll be attending starting today!”
Rio pulled out a large door from… who knows where.
Yep. I was now sure this girl was basically that blue, drowned-looking cat robot.
“Anyway, hurry up and get ready for school. Ah—but I’ve got something to take care of, so I’ll be going now!”
“Hey, wait—!”
She vanished without even giving me a chance to reply.
Well, whatever. Where the hell’s my uniform, anyway?
“It’s gotta be in the closet…”
Never thought I’d wear a school uniform again at this age.
When I pulled it out, the design was totally different from the one I used to wear in high school.
“So I really am a high schooler again, huh…”
As I slid my arms through the sleeves, the reality finally sank in.
“You’re still here? Hinami already left, you know. What about breakfast?”
Mom—Yurika Misumi—peeked into the room.
“Yeah, I’ll eat before I go.”
After finishing Mom’s French toast and brushing my teeth, I stepped through the mysterious door Rio had made.
“…No way.”
I was actually standing in front of the school.
Of course, walking out of a random door that appeared out of nowhere made me the center of attention immediately.
“Uh, what was that?”
“Was that… Anywhere?”
“Am I still dreaming…?”
I wanna go home already.
That’s when I had an idea.
“Alright, I’ll go to the infirmary. Yeah, let’s do that. I mean, I don’t even know what class I’m in.”
“What!? Why!? Why not just ask someone!?”
“Oh hey, you’re here too—wait, huh…?”
Rio was suddenly beside me—wearing a school uniform.
“Don’t tell me… you’re a student here too?”
“Of course not. I’m just here to support you from the shadows. You know what they say—if you’re going to blend in, look the part! So? How do I look?”
She spun around once, showing off the uniform.
“Yeah, yeah. You’re like the seventeenth cutest girl in class.”
“What kind of halfhearted compliment is that!? Seventeenth isn’t even a compliment!”
“What are you talking about? Number one’s obviously Hinami.”
“You siscon…”
Please don’t say that in such a serious tone, it hurts.
“Well? I may be an angel, but I’ve aged gracefully, don’t you think? With this outfit, my mature charm, and my elegant aura, I totally pass for a high school girl!”
She puffed out her chest proudly—despite having, well, not much to puff out.
“You look more like a middle schoo—”
“Did you say something!?”
Hiii… scary.
“Anyway, if I just go around asking what class I’m in, people will think I’m suspicious. That’s why I’ll go to the infirmary—it’s the perfect excuse, right?”
“I have no idea how that logic works… You just don’t want to go to class, do you?”
“N-nooo, of course not…?”
“Wow. That’s the flattest lie I’ve ever heard.”
So, off to the infirmary we went. It was on the first floor, easy to find. We completely ignored the faculty office on the way.
“You know, your homeroom teacher’s probably there.”
“Hahaha.”
“Don’t you laugh that off!?”
I knocked lightly on the infirmary door.
“Yes, come in.”
“…Hm?”
That voice… I knew that voice.
“Oh my! Yuu-san, is that you? What’s wrong?”
“No way—it’s you!?”
“What kind of reaction is that? You know her?”
Rio looked baffled, but that didn’t matter right now.
I never thought she would be here too.
“Good morning, Chizuru-san! And as always, thank you for the feast!”
“The first thing you say when you see her is ‘thank you for the feast’!?”
“What else would I say?”
“Unbelievable…”
“My, my. You look perfectly healthy—what brings you to the infirmary?”
“I came to see you! I mean, it’s fate that brought me here!”
“You were literally trying to skip class—”
“Ahem!”
How rude. She makes me sound like some delinquent.
“You were totally planning to skip, don’t even deny it. Anyway, who is she?”
“Oh, right. This is Chizuru Aizawa. In my old world, she was a Utuber—her nickname was STERA.
She’s my absolute favorite.”
Utuber was a voice streaming app popular in my old world, where people used avatars to talk or sing.
Rio sighed. “Right…”
But I couldn’t just stop there. She deserved a proper introduction.
She’s one year older than me—long, straight brown hair that perfectly fits the word elegant, with a gentle, refined face to match.
And her voice—that soft, charming, sometimes teasing voice—was what first drew me in.
I discovered her through her streams. Her calm tone healed me, her songs captivated me, and before I knew it, I was completely addicted.
“To think I’d actually meet her in person like this…!”
“You can see me every day now, you know?”
“I mean, yeah, but that’s not the point!”
We’d known each other since before she got popular, so I liked to think we were pretty close. But she’d always lived in another prefecture, so I’d assumed we’d never meet.
“Now I can die happy…”
“That’s definitely not something you should say in a nurse’s office!!”
