After Rebirth, the Cold and Aloof Film Queen Always Wants to Cuddle with Me - Chapter 26
Chapter 26
Lin Ruijiao took a long moment to react and shook her head, “…No.” At this point, no matter what she said, she couldn’t win against the other person, so she just played dumb.
Her eyes were watery as she looked up, biting her lower lip tightly, appearing pitiful and vulnerable. Ye Ruihuan stared intently at her flushed lips, and her throat involuntarily tightened.
Just as she was lost in thought, that soft sensation returned to her lips—tingling and buzzing. Lin Ruijiao struggled to push her away, but it was useless; instead, she felt a slight pain on her lips.
The kiss was overwhelming and passionate—full of fierce nibbling and comforting licking—making Lin Ruijiao’s whole body go weak and dizzy. She was knocked down onto the bed.
Ye Ruihuan gripped the back of her head tightly, greedily drinking in the sweetness that wasn’t hers. Her fingers wandered restlessly beneath the clothes, gliding over smooth skin.
The heated and ambiguous atmosphere clashed wildly in the space, as if the temperature in the air had risen significantly.
Suddenly, there was a sharp “smack.” Lin Ruijiao’s palm froze mid-air. Her teeth clenched her lower lip, her eyes reddened, and her large round eyes shimmered with tears. Her pale face was flushed all over.
She tightened her robe around her and quickly jumped off the bed, fleeing the scene.
Ye Ruihuan sat on the bed, covering her cheek and dazed, watching Lin Ruijiao’s fleeing back with a complicated expression and red eyes. After a long moment, she sneered coldly at the open door. She still hadn’t held back.
Afterward, Lin Ruijiao brushed her teeth multiple times and even took a shower. When she came out of the bathroom, her face was dark with anger.
Nearby, Jing Jing quietly noted in her mind that this was the second time Lin Ruijiao had such a dark expression since returning from Ye’s place.
The relationship between these two was truly confusing, but who was really in charge—Ye, the company boss, or Lin? Or maybe Ye wasn’t capable? Jing Jing, usually serious, actually didn’t know what to make of it and was secretly imagining all sorts of things.
After this incident, the two never met privately again. Their next encounter was on set, where they didn’t even speak to each other, and Lin Ruijiao didn’t bother with her usual polite small talk.
But this time, they had to break the ice. On set, they were dressed in luxurious robes with intricate dark patterns, looking like characters from an ancient era. Yet as soon as they started their lines, the director stopped them.
That simple scene was NG’d multiple times, and the director helplessly called for a break.
“Xiao Ye and Xiao Lin, come over here!” Director Liu waved at them.
Lin Ruijiao’s expression softened slightly, while Ye Ruihuan’s remained unchanged—emotionless and disdainful of everyone, her usual cold and proud aura untouched.
“Xiao Lin, you need to cooperate more,” the director said, then turned to Ye Ruihuan, “Xiao Ye, did you not rest well? You don’t look like yourself.”
Both nodded silently in perfect tacit understanding.
The director raised an eyebrow. So it’s these two causing trouble. “Do you have some conflict between you?”
“No.” They answered in unison.
“…Alright, whatever it is, this scene has to be done well today!” With that, the director turned and left, leaving them alone.
So on set was this scene: Lin Ruijiao and Ye Ruihuan sitting together, neither showing a good face, no words exchanged. Ye Ruihuan occasionally glanced at her out of the corner of her eye, but Lin Ruijiao acted as if she wasn’t there.
The crew’s eyes were all on them. These two belonged to the same company, and Ye Ruihuan was the company boss, but their relationship looked so hostile. Coupled with rumors online, everyone was very curious, and it seemed the gossip was true—they didn’t get along and seemed to be at odds.
Lin Ruijiao didn’t want to care anymore. She wasn’t so easily controlled.
Not far off, Assistant Li and Jing Jing watched their respective bosses intently but whispered to each other.
Assistant Li glanced at Ye Ruihuan’s face and said, “What did Miss Lin do when she got back that day? She was so brave—she slapped Sister Ye.”
Jing Jing looked shocked. “Ah? Lin slapped Ye?!!”
Assistant Li leaned in and whispered, “Yes, something must have happened.”
Jing Jing said seriously, “Does Ye like Lin, do you think?”
Assistant Li replied, “…Don’t know, but it kinda feels like it.”
Jing Jing muttered quietly, “I knew it.”
Assistant Li’s eyes sparkled, “What do you know? Tell me!”
Jing Jing: “…Just guessing.”
To them, the two sitting together looked exactly like a couple who had just argued—ignoring each other and sulking.
But the one sulking was only Ye Ruihuan. Lin Ruijiao didn’t care much. She had already talked herself into thinking it was just like acting in two scenes and getting bitten by a dog. She just wanted to finish the shoot and stay far away from Ye Ruihuan.
Everything was ready. On set, Ye Ruihuan still looked distracted and was NG’d many times again.
Lin Ruijiao frowned, her round eyes full of impatience and annoyance.
“Ye Ruihuan, can you act properly?” Lin Ruijiao said plainly.
Her voice wasn’t loud or soft; everyone on set heard it clearly. Instantly, the set fell silent. Even Director Liu didn’t dare to speak—he wouldn’t dare talk to Ye Ruihuan like that.
Ye Ruihuan wasn’t just any actress—she was an award-winning queen and boss of HuaRui Entertainment. Yet even so, she was being scolded loudly by a newbie on set in front of everyone. The newbie’s status was unimaginable…
The crew kept still, not wanting to get caught in the crossfire between these two.
Then, surprisingly, the notoriously difficult Ye Ruihuan nodded and softened her tone, saying, “Okay.”
Wearing luxurious clothes and radiating the arrogance of someone at the top, Ye Ruihuan did something completely out of character—she obediently agreed, her usual coldness disappearing and replaced with an unusual gentleness.
Lin Ruijiao was stunned inside. She never expected Ye Ruihuan to be so easy to get along with.
It was almost as if Ye Ruihuan did it on purpose—ever since she said that line, the scenes became much easier to shoot, going very smoothly, and they even wrapped up early.
Lin Ruijiao leisurely went to the makeup room to remove her makeup. Maybe Ye Ruihuan would come looking for her, so she decided to stay in the crew a bit longer to avoid her.
But when she returned to the hotel late at night, she received no messages and didn’t see Assistant Li again. So Ye Ruihuan must have decided not to settle scores later?
Well, that was for the best.
The matter quietly passed but stirred up a huge storm online. Lin Ruijiao’s fan count shot up, though mostly with haters.
“No way, does Lin Ruijiao really have such powerful backing? Even Boss Ye of HuaRui Entertainment is afraid?”
“Rare sight—last time I saw our Ye so gentle was with Dong Yulan… Who is this newbie anyway?”
“No idea who she is, but the two definitely don’t get along—always at odds!”
“How dare she scold our Ye?! Our Ye’s won every award imaginable. Who does this newbie think she is? Ridiculous.”
“Exactly! Everyone knows our Ye’s acting and looks are top-notch. What’s this newbie even worth?”
“Ye fans, go away! I don’t like you guys. Our Jiao Jiao’s acting is just as good!”
“Yes, our Jiao Jiao’s acting is amazing! Unlike Ye Ruihuan who always has a sour face!!”
