Chapter 15: The Dispute Begins
â—ŽWhat to do when both people are jealous?â—Ž
Yan Sui woke up in a woman’s embrace.
She was patted on the shoulder, and when she opened her eyes, she saw the gently smiling, sweet Lu Shutian.
“Jie, we’re here,” Lu Shutian said softly.
Yan Sui stared blankly at Lu Shutian’s expression for a few seconds.
Even though she was drunk and her mind was foggy, she distinctly remembered that when they first got in the car, Lu Shutian seemed a little unhappy.
Why is she so gentle and mild-mannered now?
The system, which hadn’t made a sound, thought: Hehe, this little girl has two faces.
Yan Sui looked at the scenery outside the window and saw that they had indeed arrived at Jian Liyun’s apartment complex.
The car was still dim inside. Sticking to the principle that “the more you talk, the more mistakes you make,” she silently fumbled for the door handle. Another hand then grabbed her wrist.
“Jie is really drunk. She can’t even open the car door. I’ll help you.”
Lu Shutian opened the car door.
As soon as Yan Sui put her right leg out, the change in her center of gravity made her feel like the world was spinning.
She really shouldn’t have touched alcohol.
She slowly got out of the car, and as Yan Sui was about to close the door, someone wrapped their arm around her waist.
“Jie is a drunkard right now and can’t walk straight. I’ll take her up.”
“No need,” Yan Sui struggled to refuse.
Of course, Lu Shutian completely ignored Yan Sui’s resistance—
Rather than ignoring it, it was more like the more Yan Sui tried to get away from her, the more she wanted to get closer.
Lu Shutian held Yan Sui steadily in her arms and told the driver, who hadn’t dared to breathe, “Go to the parking lot and wait for me.”
Seeing that her refusal was useless, Yan Sui simply remained silent.
Due to her drunkenness, Yan Sui’s logic was not as sharp as usual. As Lu Shutian stumbled forward with her, she completely failed to notice something was off:
When Lu Shutian had asked for her address, she had only given the name of the apartment complex, not the specific unit number.
But Lu Shutian was now correctly leading her towards the building where Jian Liyun lived.
The system desperately wanted to scream, but it held back.
She was supposed to be a sweet, naive female lead. How did she turn out to be a sly person hiding her true nature?
Unfortunately, there was nothing the system could do now. It could only pray that Yan Sui wouldn’t say anything reckless.
The two entered the building and took the elevator to Jian Liyun’s floor.
Yan Sui was silent the whole way, and Lu Shutian lost the mood to try to get information out of her.
There were only the two of them in the elevator. Lu Shutian pressed the number and then looked at Yan Sui, who was docilely leaning against her. She chuckled softly.
“Why are you so obedient?”
Yan Sui didn’t know she had been praised. She kept her lips tightly sealed, only remembering that she shouldn’t say anything reckless.
Buzz.
Yan Sui’s phone vibrated in her bag. She fumbled for it and pulled it out. The caller ID on the screen clearly read “Liyun”.
“Mmm…”
Yan Sui squinted. Only then did she remember that Jian Liyun had said she would come pick her up.
This is bad. I forgot to contact Jian Liyun.
The last few times Jian Liyun had gotten angry, Yan Sui hadn’t known how she had upset her.
If she made her angry again this time, at least she would know why Jian Liyun was angry.
Could this be considered some kind of progress?
…I’m really so terrible.
Her self-consolation failed, and Yan Sui sighed.
But before she could answer the call, Lu Shutian was quick to hang up for her.
“Jie, you’re playing favorites. Why do you call her Liyun but me Miss Lu? That’s not fair.”
Yan Sui looked at Lu Shutian, who seemed very wronged.
But she still remained silent, only holding out her hand to indicate that the other person should give her back her phone.
Lu Shutian dangled the phone in front of Yan Sui’s face. After the facial recognition unlocked it, she fiddled with the phone for a few seconds.
Then, Lu Shutian’s own phone rang.
She smiled and put Yan Sui’s phone back in her bag, then held up her own phone. “Jie, you have to contact me often from now on. I’m always free.”
Lu Shutian had changed her own contact name in Yan Sui’s phone to:
“The Cutest Tiantian”
Ding.
The elevator arrived.
Lu Shutian also put her phone back in her bag and wrapped her arm around Yan Sui’s waist again.
She pinched the soft flesh around her waist. Yan Sui’s body trembled and she lost her balance, falling into her arms.
Lu Shutian raised an eyebrow. The two of them maintained this posture as they arrived at the door to Jian Liyun’s apartment.
The sore, numb feeling around her waist hadn’t faded yet. Yan Sui bit her lower lip, trying to stand up straight and reach into her bag for Jian Liyun’s house key.
Lu Shutian also noticed what she was doing.
So Lu Shutian smiled sweetly. “Your relationship with her is really good.”
Even though the woman’s smile was sweet and her two dimples were showing, there wasn’t a hint of a smile in her almond eyes.
Yan Sui felt like her bag was a bottomless pit. She fumbled inside for a long time but couldn’t find the key.
Lu Shutian took the initiative to knock on the door.
Almost immediately after the knock, hurried footsteps could be heard from inside.
Jian Liyun opened the door without a second thought. “Sui Sui, I told you to call me so I could pick you up…”
Her words stopped abruptly.
She saw Yan Sui being obediently held in Lu Shutian’s arms. Her cheeks were flushed, her eyes were hazy, and her left hand was fumbling around in her bag, though it was unclear what she was doing.
The smile on Jian Liyun’s face disappeared like magic.
In Jian Liyun’s blind spot, Lu Shutian’s hand on Yan Sui’s waist moved slightly to her back, then lightly pinched her again.
Yan Sui was already off-balance. With this move from the other person, she practically “threw herself” into her arms.
Lu Shutian’s smile was sweet, and she blinked innocently. “Jie drank a little too much at tonight’s party. I was afraid it wouldn’t be safe for her to come back alone, so I brought her back.”
What is this female lead rambling about?
Yan Sui was already delirious from the alcohol in Lu Shutian’s arms. She only knew that she had to keep her mouth shut.
Jian Liyun’s face was gloomy. She wanted to take Yan Sui from Lu Shutian’s arms, but the two of them were in such an intimate posture that she didn’t even know where to begin to separate them.
Lu Shutian “helpfully” said, “I’ll help her to the bed.”
Jian Liyun lowered her eyes and took a deep breath.
When she looked up again, all emotions had disappeared from her eyes.
She nodded slightly. “Okay, follow me.”
Lu Shutian held Yan Sui and followed Jian Liyun into a bedroom.
In the bedroom, there was a large two-meter-wide bed with two sets of neatly folded beige pajamas on it.
The smile on Lu Shutian’s face faltered a little.
Judging by the size and decor of the room, it didn’t look like a guest room.
As if she could read minds, Jian Liyun spoke first. “Sui Sui will be in your care tonight. Thank you.”
Lu Shutian didn’t answer. She just stared at the still-dazed Yan Sui.
Yan Sui was now sitting on the big bed. Jian Liyun gently took off her coat and called out, “Sui Sui.”
Upon hearing the familiar voice, Yan Sui was like a robot that had been suddenly awakened. She slowly and sluggishly nodded, then held out her hand.
Jian Liyun’s hands wrapped around the other person’s, and her tone was incredibly gentle. “What’s wrong, Sui Sui?”
The hand that was wrapped in Jian Liyun’s moved slightly. She slowly called out.
“Liyun.”
Jian Liyun didn’t even realize the corners of her mouth had turned up. Even her voice was filled with a smile. “What is it?”
Yan Sui’s pink lips moved, and after several seconds, she awkwardly said, “I’m sorry.”
“Sorry for what?” Jian Liyun asked.
Yan Sui wanted to explain, but one person’s gaze was too intense. Even though her mind was unclear, she could feel that person’s eyes on her.
She looked up at the person staring at her—
What a familiar face.
No, isn’t that the female lead, Lu Shutian?
The system’s voice also sounded in her mind in perfect sync.
“Lu Shutian is very scary. Yan Sui cannot speak recklessly!”
Yan Sui looked away and became silent again.
This was the most rational thing she could do in her drunk state. However, this action completely infuriated Lu Shutian.
Lu Shutian’s voice was naturally sweet, and her laughter was as sweet as honey. She smiled and looked at Yan Sui, saying nonchalantly, “Jie, you really don’t want to talk to me?”
Yan Sui kept her lips tightly sealed, not allowing a single word to come out.
Jian Liyun took a step forward, standing between the two of them. “Miss Lu, thank you for bringing Sui Sui back. It’s getting late, and Sui Sui needs to rest.”
Lu Shutian tucked the strands of hair that were falling on her face behind her ear, then leaned slightly to the side, once again seeing Yan Sui’s face.
She smiled brightly. “Jie, we’ll see each other again.”
After saying that, Lu Shutian looked back at Jian Liyun, and her eyes held a very obvious look of contempt.
But the words from her mouth were polite. “Senior Jian, I look forward to seeing you on the show in the future.”
After Lu Shutian left, Jian Liyun returned to her bedroom and saw that Yan Sui, who was sitting on the bed, had already started “nodding off.”
She was clearly exhausted.
Even though Yan Sui was both drunk and sleepy, her behavior when drunk was excellent. She sat on the bed quietly without making a fuss.
Jian Liyun felt a mix of sourness and fullness in her heart, but when she saw the other person obediently looking at her, her heart softened.
She walked over and unconsciously stroked the other person’s head. “Let’s go wash up first, then go to sleep, okay?”
Yan Sui got up and followed her to the bathroom. Jian Liyun squeezed out some toothpaste and handed the toothbrush to Yan Sui. “Brush your teeth first.”
Yan Sui took the toothbrush and mumbled, “I can squeeze the toothpaste myself.”
Jian Liyun laughed. “I just want to take care of you. Can’t I?”
Yan Sui would of course agree to whatever the supporting female lead said.
So Yan Sui nodded. “You can,” she paused, looking a little dejected. “I’m sorry.”
“It’s okay.” Jian Liyun forgave her without asking for a reason.
Yan Sui shook her head. “I’m sorry. I promised you that I would call you to pick me up after the party ended.”
Jian Liyun’s gaze darkened.
Her tone showed no emotion. “It’s okay. Someone brought you back anyway.”
