Chapter 16: Drinking Causes Trouble
â—ŽAre you saying I willingly got into your bed?!â—Ž
Yan Sui put the toothbrush in her mouth, her words muffled. “But I didn’t want her to bring me back.”
Jian Liyun paused. “Why didn’t you want her to?”
Lu Shutian was gone. Now Yan Sui could speak freely and say whatever she wanted.
This realization made Yan Sui spill her thoughts like beans from a bag.
“Lu Shutian is scary,” Yan Sui continued to brush her teeth. “She forced me to drink.”
Jian Liyun frowned. “Were you unable to refuse?”
It was difficult to talk while moving the toothbrush around in her mouth, so Yan Sui waited until she had finished brushing her teeth and rinsing her mouth before continuing the conversation.
As soon as Yan Sui put the toothbrush in the cup, she heard Jian Liyun tell her to close her eyes.
Worrying makes one’s mind confused. Jian Liyun was a little speechless with herself.
How could I forget to remove Yan Sui’s makeup first?
Yan Sui now had 100% trust in Jian Liyun. She faced Jian Liyun and closed her eyes.
Wetting a cotton pad with makeup remover, Jian Liyun said softly, “Don’t open your eyes for now, or the makeup remover will get in.”
Yan Sui hummed like a kitten.
With the cold cotton pad of makeup remover gently pressed against Yan Sui’s cheek, Yan Sui felt the cotton pad wiping back and forth on her face while she continued the conversation.
“I couldn’t refuse because Director Kong also wanted me to drink.”
Jian Liyun was confused. “But Lu Shutian isn’t an artist from our company. Why would Director Kong get involved in that?”
Yan Sui sighed. “Maybe it’s always good to expand one’s connections. Liyun…”
Yan Sui didn’t even realize how clingy her tone was when she said the other person’s name.
Jian Liyun’s hand trembled, and she coughed lightly. “What is it?”
When a person closes their eyes, their sense of hearing becomes especially sharp.
Yan Sui heard Jian Liyun’s unnaturalness and nervousness.
Drunk as she was, she had no sense of reason or logic. She completely forgot what she was going to say to Jian Liyun and chose to comfort her instead.
“Liyun, don’t be scared.”
Jian Liyun calmed herself down and gently wiped away the other person’s eye shadow. “I’m not scared.”
“You’re lying to me again.” Yan Sui was a little displeased.
But before Jian Liyun could say anything, Yan Sui was already at ease.
She said word for word, “It’s okay if you don’t want to tell me the truth. Anyway…”
Oh no. Jian Liyun’s makeup removal technique was too comfortable. Yan Sui felt like she was going to fall asleep standing up.
Jian Liyun, however, couldn’t stay calm. She pressed on, “Anyway, what?”
The person asking the question had become Yan Sui. Her tone was very righteous. “Anyway what? Liyun, what are you talking about?”
“It’s what you just said…” Jian Liyun laughed at herself. Why am I being so serious with a drunk person?
“It’s nothing.”
Hearing the answer, Yan Sui started to turn her rusty brain. “What I just said? What did I say?”
Jian Liyun coaxed her. “Nothing. I misremembered.”
Yan Sui was inexplicably serious. “I definitely said something. How could I forget?”
Jian Liyun was helpless and could only change the subject. “Don’t open your mouth. I’m going to remove your lipstick.”
Yan Sui obediently closed her mouth.
Jian Liyun meticulously wiped away the lipstick. Yan Sui’s original lip color was quite pale, which made her frown.
Feeling the cotton pad leave her lips, Yan Sui raised her hand. “Report, I remember now.”
Jian Liyun found it both amusing and endearing. “Okay, tell me.”
Yan Sui still had her eyes closed, but she precisely and accurately took Jian Liyun’s hand.
It was a familiar, cold temperature.
Yan Sui rubbed the palm of the other person’s hand and said in a gentle voice, “Anyway, as long as you feel that you’re happy, that’s all that matters.”
It only took a few seconds for Jian Liyun’s heart to go from racing to hearing the sound of her own heartbeat.
She felt a lump in her throat and had to use a lot of effort to speak. “Mmm.”
Yan Sui continued with her eyes closed. “Whether you want to act well or love someone well, as long as you feel happy, that’s enough.”
Jian Liyun pulled her hand away. She took a pure white towel from the metal rack and turned on the faucet to wet it.
Yan Sui, who didn’t get a response, wasn’t discouraged. She stood there, still mumbling. “But even if you like someone, you should like a good person… That He Chenyu is a vampire. I don’t understand why you like him so much.”
The sound of the water was gushing.
Jian Liyun tried to explain. “I don’t like him.”
Yan Sui didn’t hear her clearly. She sighed to herself. “Okay, if you like him, then you like him. I can’t stop you either. As long as you’re happy, just live the life you want. As for me, I’ll do everything I can to help you become an even better actress.”
She wanted Jian Liyun to become a glamorous, celebrated actress who could act for many years—
And not someone who would choose to end her own life at a young age because of unrequited love.
Yan Sui had never truly had freedom, so she understood more than anyone how precious a self-chosen freedom and happiness were.
Jian Liyun turned off the faucet and wrung out the wet towel.
The damp, warm towel gently wiped Yan Sui’s face. Jian Liyun’s voice was a little hoarse. “What about you? Are you happy now?”
Yan Sui thought for a moment. “I don’t have the right to be happy.”
The system, who was watching the whole conversation, was going crazy.
What’s with this Host? She’s so guarded with Lu Shutian, but why is she so unguarded with Jian Liyun?!
Even though she was trying to save the supporting female lead, Yan Sui wasn’t from this world after all, so she shouldn’t say everything.
But a drunk Yan Sui, facing Jian Liyun, seemed to say whatever was in her heart.
It was clear that Yan Sui’s answer didn’t satisfy Jian Liyun. She pressed on, “Why don’t you have the right? Sui Sui, is there someone who doesn’t allow you to be happy?”
Yan Sui’s face was wiped clean. She opened her eyes, which were calm and untroubled.
“I don’t allow myself to be happy.”
The woman’s tone was flat, as if she was talking about a mundane topic like the weather tomorrow.
Jian Liyun wanted to ask why, but Yan Sui yawned and was on the verge of collapsing from sleepiness.
She could only give up.
The two returned to the bedroom. Jian Liyun handed Yan Sui the other set of beige pajamas. “Change into your pajamas before you sleep.”
Yan Sui took them and then, right in front of Jian Liyun—
started to take off the rest of her clothes.
Yan Sui’s movements were so natural and fast that before Jian Liyun could even react, she saw the sight of the other person’s chest.
She immediately turned around, her eyes panicked.
Even if they are both women, even if their relationship is good, how can Yan Sui so brazenly take off her clothes in front of her?!
Jian Liyun’s mind was still at war with itself when she heard Yan Sui calling her again.
“Liyun,” Yan Sui’s tone was annoyed. “I’m dizzy. I can’t seem to button my shirt.”
Jian Liyun stiffly turned around and saw that not only were a few of the top buttons on Yan Sui’s shirt undone, but the ones that were buttoned were misaligned.
The person herself had given up on buttoning them. She waved at Jian Liyun. “Liyun, help me.”
Jian Liyun let out a heavy sigh.
She resignedly walked over, first unbuttoning the messed-up buttons and then buttoning them all correctly for her.
“I can’t believe you,” Jian Liyun whispered.
Yan Sui didn’t pay any attention to this. She lifted the blanket and crawled into bed, completely unaware of whose bedroom or whose bed this was.
“Liyun, goodnight.”
Jian Liyun hummed. “Goodnight.”
The system, who had witnessed the whole thing, thought: The Host is sleeping in the same bed as the supporting female lead again. Is this what a romance novel world is like? It’s so shocking, haha.
…
The next morning.
Yan Sui was in a daze from sleep and felt a movement on the other side of the bed. It seemed like someone had gotten up.
She opened her eyes and saw Jian Liyun just sitting up.
“Why am I in your bed?”
This was the first thing Yan Sui said after waking up.
She was so shocked that she didn’t notice that her clothes had been changed.
Jian Liyun turned her head slightly, a smile on her lips.
“You came up yourself.”
Yan Sui was speechless for a few seconds. She pointed at her face. “Me? Are you saying I willingly climbed into your bed? No, no…”
Why are my words getting weirder and weirder!
Yan Sui scrambled to sit up, lifted the blanket, and was about to get out of bed.
Jian Liyun grabbed her hand. “Your slippers aren’t on that side of the bed.”
Yan Sui could barely hide the embarrassment on her face. She got out of bed from Jian Liyun’s side and, after putting on her slippers, ran toward the door.
“Why are you running?” Jian Liyun pulled her back. Yan Sui was pulled back by the force and fell back onto the bed.
Looking at the bewildered Yan Sui, Jian Liyun felt her mood become even more cheerful.
She teased her. “You’re running away now?”
Yan Sui was silent. She asked the system in her mind.
“System, what did I do after I got drunk last night?!”
