Chapter 21: She’s not Worth You Doing This for Her
â—ŽChoose meâ—Ž
Yan Sui was momentarily speechless. “Then…”
She didn’t know how to respond. She couldn’t possibly ask, “What do I have to do for you to be comfortable enough?”
That would be too weird.
Thankfully, Lu Shutian quickly turned her head. “Jie, please tie my hair.”
It was as if nothing had happened.
Of course, Yan Sui wouldn’t ask any more questions. She quickly tied Lu Shutian‘s hair without a second to spare.
Lu Shutian was also considerate. “I’ll handle the cooking in the kitchen myself. You can go rest in the living room. There’s juice and snacks on the table. You can watch some TV for a bit.”
Yan Sui practically fled.
Her left palm was still tingling.
When she got to the living room and sat on the light gray leather sofa, Yan Sui‘s heart was still beating at a rate faster than normal.
“The female lead is a little scary,” Yan Sui said to the system in her mind.
“This world is too messed up. This female lead is indeed secretly dark. Host, you need to be careful when you eat dinner later. But…”
“But what?”
“But I think the female lead doesn’t have much malice toward you. She seems to dislike the supporting female lead more.”
Yan Sui forced a laugh. “Is that so? We’ll see about that later.”
The huge TV screen was playing a funny variety show, but Yan Sui wasn’t in the mood to watch it at all.
When Lu Shutian finished in the kitchen and came to the living room, this was the scene she saw:
Yan Sui was staring at the happy guests on the entertainment show with a look of great sorrow.
“Jie, dinner is ready.” Lu Shutian also turned her head to look at the TV. “This is one of the most popular variety shows. Don’t you like it, Jie?”
Yan Sui shook her head. “No, let’s go eat.”
There had originally been a long table in the dining room, but Lu Shutian had moved out a small wooden square table from who knows where, and it was filled with delicious-looking dishes.
Yan Sui‘s eyes flashed with surprise, and she immediately praised her. “Miss Lu is a great cook.”
Lu Shutian chuckled and gestured for Yan Sui to sit down quickly. “Eat while it’s hot, Jie.”
The order in which Lu Shutian made each dish was carefully considered, so even though she had made seven dishes and a soup, they were all still steaming when they were brought to the table.
Lu Shutian first gave Yan Sui a piece of sweet and sour pork ribs, then simply put down her chopsticks and focused on peeling shrimp for Yan Sui.
This kind of treatment, even though Yan Sui was a guest, made her feel a little uncomfortable.
Lu Shutian placed a peeled shrimp into the other person’s bowl. “Try it. It was caught today, so it’s very fresh.”
Yan Sui said “thank you” while putting the shrimp in her mouth. The meat was firm and tender, and it was chewy. Even without sauce, the shrimp itself was delicious enough.
“It’s really good,” Yan Sui said with complete sincerity.
Lu Shutian tilted her head. “I’m glad you like it, Jie.”
Before Yan Sui could speak, Lu Shutian continued. “Jie, you’re here to talk about Jin Lan, right?”
Why else? Didn’t we already talk about it on the phone?
Yan Sui complained in her mind, but on the surface, she nodded. “Yes. I was wondering if Miss Lu had a way to get Jin Lan‘s ex-girlfriend to join the show.”
Lu Shutian raised her wine glass. “I’ll tell you after we eat.”
The alcohol from last night was still giving Yan Sui a headache, but she had no choice. At this moment, even if Lu Shutian asked her to climb a mountain of swords or go into a sea of fire, she would do it.
Yan Sui also smiled and picked up her own glass. After clinking glasses with Lu Shutian, she was about to drink it all in one gulp, but she froze after tasting the liquid.
It wasn’t wine; it was juice that looked like hard liquor.
“What, you wanted to drink wine, Jie?” Lu Shutian said with a half-smile.
Yan Sui shook her head. “No, no.”
The atmosphere became a little strange toward the end of the meal.
The food was delicious, the juice was good, and the pure-looking beauty across from her was smiling the whole time. Yan Sui couldn’t find anything wrong.
But her intuition told her that something big was about to happen.
Lu Shutian put down her chopsticks before Yan Sui did. After seeing the other person use a napkin to wipe her lips, she stood up. “Come with me, Jie.”
Yan Sui‘s expression turned serious, knowing that the other person was about to talk about Jin Lan.
Lu Shutian walked to the TV wall and pushed the wall without using much force, and a door opened.
So there was a hidden door here. The room inside was pitch-black, and nothing could be seen.
“I’m not going to be killed by the female lead, am I?” Yan Sui wailed in her mind.
No matter how she looked at it, this place seemed off.
Lu Shutian pushed the door open further, then turned slightly to the side. “Please, Jie.”
Yan Sui took a deep breath and walked inside.
Lu Shutian followed her. After the two of them entered the room, Lu Shutian closed the door. The light from outside was blocked out, and the room was plunged into complete darkness.
Click.
Yan Sui heard the sound of the door being locked.
After being in complete darkness, her sense of hearing and smell became incredibly sharp. Yan Sui heard the sound of two people breathing and smelled a sweet, lychee-like scent.
It was a strange, yet familiar scent.
“Jie.”
As soon as Lu Shutian‘s voice fell, Yan Sui felt someone hug her from behind.
The person held Yan Sui completely in her embrace, her hands firmly locked around Yan Sui‘s waist, and her chin resting on Yan Sui‘s left shoulder. The two were instantly intimate.
Yan Sui wasn’t afraid of the dark, but the current situation was completely out of her control.
She tried to make her voice sound calm. “Miss Lu, aren’t you going to turn on the lights… Ngh!”
A sharp pain shot through Yan Sui‘s neck. She was in disbelief. She didn’t expect Lu Shutian to suddenly bite her.
Was asking her to turn on a light such an outrageous request?
Lu Shutian‘s bite was not light, but she had enough control not to break the skin.
“Jie, you’re not being good.”
Yan Sui was on the verge of tears. In what way was she “not being good”?
Since she arrived at Lu Shutian‘s place, she felt that she had performed all her duties as a guest—
Except for being in such a hurry that she didn’t bring a gift. Was Lu Shutian angry because of that?
Yan Sui endured the sharp pain from her neck and softened her tone. “I’m sorry, I was in such a hurry that I didn’t have time to prepare a gift for you. Next time… Ngh, Miss Lu, why are you biting me again!”
Lu Shutian‘s voice was still sweet, and just listening to her voice, you wouldn’t be able to tell that she was angry.
“You only went for a check-up. Why did you have to accompany her for something like that?”
Yan Sui instantly realized that Lu Shutian was talking about Jian Liyun‘s check-up. She frowned. “It’s always better to have someone with you.”
“System,” Yan Sui didn’t forget to call out to the system in her mind. “Look, the female lead knows the supporting female lead’s every move. I really think the female lead might have feelings for the supporting female lead…”
“Host, why don’t you feel your own neck? The teeth marks are still there.”
“I know, but I always feel that the female lead has more hostility towards me, or maybe a kind of disgust… or is it resentment? I don’t know how to explain it, but in short, she doesn’t seem to like me very much.”
“Regardless of how the female lead acts toward the supporting female lead on the surface, having the supporting female lead participate in a variety show organized by the female lead is a real benefit to the supporting female lead’s future career. If you truly hate someone, would you want them to live a better life?”
While the human and the system were still arguing, Lu Shutian let out a low laugh.
“Hehe, Jie, do you really think she needs your company? Is she even worthy?”
Yan Sui let out a gasp.
The Lu Shutian who was holding her suddenly exerted force. She felt the world spin, and then she fell heavily onto—
A soft sofa.
The lights in the room finally turned on.
The sudden bright light made Yan Sui squint. She saw Lu Shutian straddling her, her apricot-shaped eyes filled with an unsettling intensity.
Lu Shutian curled her lips into a smile, holding a remote control in her right hand. “Jie, watch. Watch Jian Liyun‘s true face, and you’ll see just how worthless all of this is.”
Jie, don’t choose her, choose me.
I’m the one who’s truly worth saving.
