After Swapping Bodies with the Movie Queen, She Ended Up with Me (GL) - Chapter 15
Shen Nian’s address of “Sister Mu” genuinely caught Rong Qing off guard.
Had the two of them… always been this intimate with each other before?
Rong Qing couldn’t help but recall the time in the restroom during the red-carpet event when Shen Nian had asked if she still liked her. Even now, Rong Qing didn’t dare mention this to Mu Lingwan, afraid she might silence her for good.
But at this moment, Rong Qing suddenly felt that this young woman named Shen Nian seemed genuinely devoted to Mu Lingwan.
Bang—
Mu Lingwan pulled another party popper, her expression blank as she stared at Shen Nian and Rong Qing before speaking slowly, “Happy birthday, Miss Shen. I didn’t know it was your birthday, so I didn’t prepare a gift. Here’s an extra popper—hope you like it.”
Shen Nian froze. She looked at Mu Lingwan thoughtfully before tilting her head with a radiant smile. “Thank you, Rong Qing. I’m really surprised the production team remembered my birthday. This makes me so happy.”
Mu Lingwan gave her a hollow smile. “As long as you’re happy. Come on, birthday girl, Lingwan and I prepared a cake for you. Let’s dig in.”
With just a few words, Mu Lingwan redirected everyone’s attention to the dining table. Shen Nian was delighted by the cake placed there, and the group gathered around to sing a lively rendition of “Happy Birthday.” Finally, under the photographer’s direction, they took a group photo.
The cake wasn’t meant to be eaten—aside from Jiang Jiang keeping a slice for herself, the rest was given to the crew. The artists only nibbled on some vegetables before wrapping up the evening with Shen Nian performing an a cappella version of her newly released song.
After work, the six artists returned to their respective rooms. Mu Lingwan walked ahead, and Rong Qing, watching her retreating figure, sensed she wasn’t in the best mood.
Why was she unhappy?
Rong Qing realized that ever since swapping bodies with Mu Lingwan, the latter hadn’t had a single happy day. Then again, how could anyone stay cheerful in such a situation?
Inside the cramped room, Mu Lingwan removed her mic as soon as she entered, casually tossing her jacket over the camera to block it. She loosened her long hair and glanced back at Rong Qing standing by the door. “You first, or me?”
Rong Qing blinked, glancing at the bathroom. “Y-You go first.”
After grabbing fresh clothes from the wardrobe, Mu Lingwan disappeared into the bathroom. The sound of running water filled the small space, making Rong Qing fidget as she sat on the bed. The noise was unmistakably clear, and her ears burned. She removed her own mic and set it aside, deciding to check trending topics first.
The buzz around the two afternoon topics had died down, replaced by another one related to Rong Qing:
#Heartbeat in Progress Production Team Full of Malice#
Though Rong Qing’s name wasn’t explicitly mentioned, discussions about her flooded the thread. The tone had shifted drastically—no longer a barrage of insults, but now with many speaking up in her defense.
As she scrolled through the endless posts, Rong Qing’s expression lightened.
So, there were still people who liked her. People who would stand up for her.
Rong Qing secretly logged into her alternate account, reposted the trending topic, and liked a string of posts from the most popular fans. Just as she was about to log out, she noticed a red notification dot on her private messages, which made her pause in surprise.
This was her alt account, known to very few people—only her roommate at AG, a girl around her age named Ye Junjun.
Opening it, she saw it was indeed a message from Ye Junjun’s alt account.
There was no text, just a screenshot. It showed AG’s Xia Yiran reposting a post about Rong Qing allegedly berating the show’s director, timestamped around 4 PM, with the caption: “I can’t believe Rong Qing would be like this. She always seemed so kind… People really do change, huh…”
Rong Qing’s pupils flickered briefly before she steadied herself.
She wasn’t stupid—she could clearly see the blatant malice in Xia Yiran’s post. But she wasn’t sure how to respond. After hesitating for a moment, she checked Xia Yiran’s Weibo but found no trace of the post.
Probably deleted it.
Lowering her gaze, Rong Qing put her phone away without replying to anyone and started gathering her clothes for a shower. Though it was still early, she had nowhere else to go, so she might as well turn in for the night.
The first time sharing a bed was admittedly awkward. Mu Lingwan dried her hair and got straight into bed, while Rong Qing stood obediently in the bathroom after her shower, blow-drying her hair. Glancing at the toothbrush on the sink, she worried her breath might bother Mu Lingwan, so she brushed her teeth three times in a row.
Lying in bed, she could faintly hear movement downstairs—likely the crew packing up.
“…The soundproofing in this manor is terrible,” Mu Lingwan muttered, wide awake.
“Mm.” Rong Qing wasn’t sleepy either. It was only 10 PM, and sleeping in a new place felt strange. She lay stiffly on her back, hands neatly folded over her stomach.
“What… usually happens tomorrow?” Rong Qing turned her head slightly, peering at Mu Lingwan’s hazy silhouette in the dark. “I don’t have much experience. What if I mess up…?”
“Usually just some tasks.” Mu Lingwan rolled onto her side, opening her eyes to meet Rong Qing’s gaze. The girl beside her flinched, quickly turning away and shutting her eyes before frowning and slowly opening them again.
Rong Qing stole a cautious glance at Mu Lingwan before looking away. “What kind of tasks?”
“No idea. Whatever the production team decides.”
“Mm… Will we be split into groups?”
“Probably.”
Mu Lingwan’s curt replies killed the conversation. Watching Rong Qing rack her brain in the darkness, she lay flat and closed her eyes. “Get some sleep. We have to wake up early tomorrow.”
Rong Qing gave a soft “Mm” in response. Only when she sensed the steady breathing beside her did she quietly exhale in relief.
She didn’t know when she fell asleep, but when she woke the next morning, she felt a weight pressing against her back—something tightly coiled around her lower half. Groggily opening her eyes, she realized she was being held in a tight embrace.
“Mmm…?”
Early in the morning, Rong Qing hadn’t fully woken up yet. The sky outside the window was still pale gray, and the entire villa was immersed in its deepest slumber. Yet at this moment, Rong Qing found herself being held from behind by Mu Lingwan like a hugging pillow, with warm breaths tickling the nape of her neck, leaving her in a dazed state.
Rong Qing blinked groggily, and it took her several seconds to realize—Mu Lingwan had fallen asleep while holding her in her arms…
