After Swapping Bodies with the Movie Queen, She Ended Up with Me (GL) - Chapter 5
Rong Qing was dumbfounded by the items at the top of the box. She vaguely guessed what they were and slammed the cabinet door shut with a ‘snap.’
Why would these things be kept at home!!!
Aside from the leather outfits and whips, Rong Qing seemed to have caught glimpses of some unspeakable items—even a box of finger cots!!!
Her face burned with embarrassment. Although she had already suspected Mu Lingwan was a player, she never imagined the woman’s ‘toys’ would be so numerous and varied.
Recalling the Fashion Night event, whether it was the top-tier singer Xu Qing or the rising star Shen Nian, their interactions with Mu Lingwan had all carried subtle undertones, their words laced with ambiguity.
One had playfully patted her butt, while the other had asked if she still liked her.
Oh no, oh no—Rong Qing seemed to have uncovered superstar Mu Lingwan’s secret!
Would this woman silence her to keep it hidden?
Any one of these revelations could fuel public gossip for months!
Rong Qing’s heart pounded wildly, its frantic ‘thump-thump’ threatening to burst from her chest. Just as she was at a loss for what to do, Mu Lingwan’s voice called from downstairs.
“The salad’s ready,” Mu Lingwan announced. “Come down for dinner.”
Rong Qing hastily responded, casting one last glance at the tightly shut cabinet before awkwardly leaving the guest room.
Mu Lingwan set two salads on the table, pouring herself a glass of iced lemon water. She glanced at Rong Qing descending the stairs. “Want some? It’s chilled.”
Rong Qing’s face remained flushed. She avoided Mu Lingwan’s gaze, nervously fiddling with her clothes as she murmured, “No, plain water is fine.”
Mu Lingwan didn’t press further, casually setting the pitcher aside. When she looked up again, she found Rong Qing standing nearby with an intensely red face—wearing her own features, no less—making the sight momentarily unsettling.
“What’s wrong?” Mu Lingwan sat down, effortlessly crossing her legs as she toyed with her salad. Amused, she teased, “Your face is so red. Didn’t stumble upon something you shouldn’t have, did you?”
The moment the words left her mouth, Mu Lingwan froze.
Ah, right.
The guest room cabinet still stored those outrageous items Xu Qing had mailed from abroad, raving about their ‘amazing’ qualities and urging her to try them with future girlfriends.
Though Mu Lingwan found Xu Qing’s souvenir choices exasperating, she’d still unwrapped each package, marveling at the shocking ‘innovations’ and concluding Xu Qing had lost her mind.
To the public, Xu Qing was the nation’s sweetheart—a gifted singer with a crystal-clear voice, elegant and witty, devoted to music without a hint of scandal. In reality, the woman was utterly unhinged—gentle with strangers but wildly unpredictable among friends.
Mu Lingwan suspected Rong Qing must have seen something, otherwise why would she be blushing so intensely?
“Ah, about that…” Mu Lingwan awkwardly offered, “The guest room’s probably messy. I’ll have someone tidy it tomorrow.”
“But didn’t you already tell the housekeeper not to come?” Rong Qing rubbed her flushed earlobes and looked resignedly at Mu Lingwan. “I’ll clean up. There aren’t many things anyway. I saw a storage room in the basement earlier—shall we move everything there?”
“Fine, do as you see fit.” Mu Lingwan also felt awkward. She wanted to explain herself to Rong Qing but then thought it unnecessary—after all, they were only pretending to be lovers, not actually in a relationship. There was no need to explain such private matters, right?
Rong Qing nodded and went upstairs to pack without finishing her meal. By the time Mu Lingwan finished her salad and casually tossed the dishes into the sink, she saw Rong Qing bustling up and down the stairs, arms laden with boxes of various sizes.
After what seemed like ages, Rong Qing finally ate, washed the dishes, and left the kitchen spotless.
“I’ve finished tidying up, Miss Mu,” Rong Qing said, approaching Mu Lingwan who was lazily reading on the chaise lounge in the living room. “Is there anything else you’d like me to do?”
Mu Lingwan lounged indolently, tilting her head to observe the demure figure standing beside her. Something felt off.
“Is this how you usually are?” Mu Lingwan asked.
Rong Qing blinked in surprise, glancing down at her outfit—a simple white T-shirt and jeans. Nothing seemed particularly wrong with her attire.
“I… usually dress like this,” Rong Qing replied with a slight frown, casting an uneasy glance at her. “Is there something wrong with what I’m wearing?”
“It’s not about the clothes.” Mu Lingwan propped her head up with one hand, her dark eyes scanning Rong Qing up and down like laser beams. “Your mannerisms aren’t confident enough. They don’t match my usual image.”
Closing her book, Mu Lingwan approached. Rong Qing instinctively took a step back but was immediately pulled forward by Mu Lingwan’s grasp.
The moment Mu Lingwan’s hand settled on Rong Qing’s waist, an inexplicable tingle shot through her—a sensation Rong Qing remembered experiencing a few times before, always during close contact with Mu Lingwan.
That electrifying feeling seemed to seep into her very bones.
Mu Lingwan met her gaze squarely. “See? You retreat when I get close. That won’t do. If this continues, people will see through us eventually.”
Rong Qing fidgeted and murmured an “Mm,” standing obediently before her. “I understand.”
“And remember, we’re supposed to be playing lovers, Miss Rong,” Mu Lingwan said, stepping closer until Rong Qing could smell the faint rose scent of her shower gel—a fragrance Rong Qing would never use herself.
The aroma made her head spin.
“I-I remember…”
“If you remember, then we should adjust how we address each other too.”
Mu Lingwan studied Rong Qing’s crimson ears, finding her utterly amusing. Could this be her first relationship?
“As for names…” Mu Lingwan held her gaze for a long moment before finally saying with lingering satisfaction, “You can call me Lingwan. I’ll call you Xiao Qing—how’s that?”
Rong Qing looked at her uncertainly. “Isn’t that… too intimate?”
Mu Lingwan said, “It’s fine. Close friends call me that, and since we’ll be a couple soon, it’s only natural to be more intimate.”
Rong Qing thought her reasoning made sense and nodded. “Alright, let’s go with that then.”
“How about we try it out first? Xiao Qing?”
“Huh?”
Rong Qing quickly realized what she meant. She awkwardly averted her gaze from Mu Lingwan’s eyes before resigning herself and turning back to face her. “Lingwan.”
“Mmm, that’s perfect.” Mu Lingwan was pleased with Rong Qing’s obedience. She reached out and gently stroked her cheek, her eyes curving into crescents as she smiled. “Get some rest early tonight. We have a lot to do tomorrow.”
With that, Mu Lingwan withdrew her arm from Rong Qing’s waist, picked up the book on the sofa, and headed upstairs to her room.
Rong Qing watched her retreating figure, then absentmindedly touched the spot where Mu Lingwan’s hand had rested. She was puzzled—the tingling sensation from earlier had vanished again. She couldn’t figure out what was going on.
A few days later, Zhou Ying arrived with a stack of contracts.
“Have you two been getting along well these days?” Zhou Ying greeted Rong Qing with a smile and accepted the glass of warm water she handed her.
Honestly, no matter how many times she saw it, she couldn’t get used to Rong Qing—who bore Mu Lingwan’s face—serving her tea and water. Just now, when Rong Qing poured water for her, she almost mistook her for Mu Lingwan having a sudden breakdown and nearly dropped to her knees in shock.
Meanwhile, the real Mu Lingwan sat on the sofa, legs crossed arrogantly, arms folded as she asked Zhou Ying, “You said you had something important to discuss. What is it?”
Zhou Ying snapped out of her daze and pulled out a thick stack of contracts from her bag.
“This one is the delay agreement for your period drama Spring Moonlight. Due to your health condition, filming has been temporarily suspended until you recover. There’s some compensation outlined here—not much, but you’ll need to sign it.”
“This one is the contract for you and Miss Rong Qing’s dating variety show Heartbeat in Progress. The recording period is three months, totaling fifteen episodes. You each get a copy.”
“And this one…”
Zhou Ying hesitated, glancing at Rong Qing before continuing, “This is a supplementary contract between AG Idol Group and Rong Qing.”
Supplementary contract?
Rong Qing hadn’t expected to be involved today. She took the document from Zhou Ying and skimmed through it.
Since it was a supplementary agreement, it was very brief—just two or three pages. Zhou Ying, noticing her confusion, patiently explained.
“According to your original contract, all your activities must follow AG’s arrangements. But since you can’t return to the group right now, this agreement transfers your contract to Lingwan’s company. From now on, we’ll handle all your commercial activities, though 20% of your earnings will still go to the original company during the remaining contract period.”
Zhou Ying adjusted her glasses confidently. “Don’t worry about this. Your schedule will only get busier from now on. A mere 20% is manageable, especially since your contract only has two years left. Once it expires, you’ll no longer be tied to AG.”
After speaking, she looked at the slightly dazed Rong Qing and said earnestly, “Once you sign this contract, you won’t need to go back to AG anymore. I’ll arrange for someone to pack your things from the dorm. From now on, all you need to do is fully immerse yourself in playing the role of Mu Lingwan and participate in that dating show.”
Rong Qing clutched the contract in her hands, feeling somewhat bewildered. She had initially entered this industry with dreams, but unfortunately, she didn’t seem to have much talent. Despite being in the business for so long, she still hadn’t gained any fame.
Now, Zhou Ying was telling her to follow Mu Lingwan from now on. Perhaps this was her only chance to appear before the public.
“Alright, I’ll sign this contract,” Rong Qing composed herself and looked up at Zhou Ying and Mu Lingwan, saying, “I’ll be in your care from now on.”
