After Swapping Bodies with the Movie Queen, She Ended Up with Me (GL) - Chapter 8
As Mu Lingwan pushed open the door, she saw Rong Qing standing completely naked in the bathroom, hands on her own chest, staring back at her with a shocked expression.
“What are you doing?” Mu Lingwan immediately closed the door and strode over with a stern face.
Rong Qing was equally startled, quickly grabbing a nearby robe to cover herself as she stepped barefoot out of the bathroom. Her mind went completely blank before she could even think of how to explain the situation—then she felt her foot slip!
Just as she was about to crash onto the floor, Mu Lingwan swiftly reached out and caught her, pulling her tightly into her arms.
Rong Qing stared blankly at the ground, only realizing belatedly that Mu Lingwan had saved her.
“Th-thank you,” Rong Qing stammered, gripping Mu Lingwan’s arm. She noticed the wet handprint left on the white shirt and the water stains all over, awkwardly straightening up to step back—but Mu Lingwan stopped her.
“Don’t move,” Mu Lingwan said.
Rong Qing froze, still clutching Mu Lingwan’s clothes, watching as she hooked a pair of slippers over with her foot and gestured for Rong Qing to put them on.
“Th-thank you, Lingwan.”
“You’re welcome.”
Only after seeing Rong Qing properly shod did Mu Lingwan ask in a low voice, “What were you touching in the bathroom just now?”
Rong Qing’s face burned crimson. She looked at Mu Lingwan in mortification, her mind utterly blank, unable to form a single word.
Meanwhile, Mu Lingwan stood composed before her, watching Rong Qing’s flushed face as she enunciated clearly, “My br3asts are natural, and so is my face. At most, I’ve had some liposuction on my waist and legs—everything else is completely original.”
Rong Qing was stunned. Was that really the point here?!
She had just touched Mu Lingwan’s br3asts!
No—wait, they were technically her own now… Or were they still Mu Lingwan’s…? Regardless, why was Mu Lingwan so calm about this? Wasn’t she the least bit embarrassed?!
“…I-I didn’t mean to do that,” Rong Qing finally managed, gripping her robe tightly as she met Mu Lingwan’s gaze with a red face. “I just got curious all of a sudden. It wasn’t intentional.”
“It’s fine,” Mu Lingwan said. “I already explored your body thoroughly on the first day we swapped.”
Rong Qing: “!!!”
Mu Lingwan smiled. “You look quite slim, but your chest and backside have a wonderful feel to them.”
Rong Qing: “!!!!!”
Rong Qing’s face cycled from pale to red to ashen as she grabbed Mu Lingwan’s arm in protest. “You can’t just grope me like that!”
Mu Lingwan’s eyes curved in amusement as she countered, “What do you mean, ‘grope’? It’s my body now—I can touch whatever I please. If you feel it’s unfair, you’re welcome to return the favor. I don’t mind.”
Rong Qing’s brain felt like boiling water. She never would have guessed that the seemingly proper Mu Lingwan had already touched her all over on their very first day!
All this time, she’d avoided looking in the mirror too much, showered with her head tilted up, and dressed immediately after drying off—only to learn Mu Lingwan had mapped out every inch of her from the start!
Rong Qing didn’t know whether to be furious or mortified. But seeing Mu Lingwan’s utterly unbothered expression, she could only squeeze her eyes shut tightly.
Really, she should have been angry.
Rong Qing thought to herself that she had never been in love before, nor had she ever had any intimate contact with anyone. Her first kiss had been with Mu Lingwan, yet the other woman seemed ‘battle-hardened’—things that mattered deeply to Rong Qing appeared insignificant to her.
Ah well, whatever.
Lowering her head, Rong Qing resigned herself to it. Things were already like this—how much worse could they get?
Mu Lingwan watched as the girl before her cycled through shock, anger, and finally dejection before settling into quiet resignation. She could almost guess what Rong Qing was thinking and unconsciously scratched her cheek.
“Alright, don’t look at me like I bullied you. It’s not like we had a choice,” Mu Lingwan said, stepping closer to rub Rong Qing’s still-damp cheeks. The girl had rushed out mid-shower, and her skin still felt cool to the touch.
Rong Qing didn’t feel like talking to this woman. She subtly avoided Mu Lingwan’s touch and muttered, “I’m not blaming you.”
Mu Lingwan hummed softly in response. Noticing Rong Qing’s wet hair, she went into the bathroom to grab a dry towel, then guided the girl to sit on the sofa by the bed before starting to dry her hair.
“We’ll be leaving soon,” Mu Lingwan said quietly. “Don’t dwell too much on what happened earlier. I…”
Her fingers combed through Rong Qing’s hair as the warm air from the dryer sent the damp strands fluttering. After a brief hesitation, she sighed. “I was wrong too. I shouldn’t have touched you like that.”
Rong Qing found the phrasing strange, but since a big celebrity like Mu Lingwan was admitting fault, she couldn’t keep sulking. Clutching her robe, she murmured, “I was wrong too. I touched you first.”
“…This conversation is getting weird,” Mu Lingwan said with a wry smile. “Doesn’t sound very proper.”
Rong Qing fell silent—she thought so too.
Before they could dwell on the awkwardness any longer, the doorbell rang. Xu Qing’s loud voice carried from the hallway: “Lingwan! And Lingwan’s little girlfriend! Stop lazing around—we’ve got to get ready for the shoot!”
The moment she heard Xu Qing’s voice, Mu Lingwan’s head throbbed. She turned off the dryer and stood. “Get dressed. I’ll go shoo her away.”
Without waiting for a response, she closed the door behind her.
Xu Qing was still chattering noisily at the door like an overexcited frog. Frowning, Mu Lingwan yanked it open and snapped, “What’s all the yelling for? It’s too early for this nonsense!”
Xu Qing clearly hadn’t expected her friend to answer the door. She froze for a few seconds after being scolded before regaining her composure. Addressing the ‘Rong Qing’ before her, she said, “Rong Qing, did you two sleep well last night?”
Mu Lingwan blinked before remembering—she wasn’t Mu Lingwan right now. Crossing her arms, she nodded slightly. “It was alright. The bed was too hard.”
Too hard?
That was the most expensive latex mattress available—if that was hard, what bed could possibly be soft?
Xu Qing studied the girl in front of her. She had done some research on Rong Qing recently—the girl was only 21. Though the entertainment industry was skewing younger these days, to her and Mu Lingwan, 21 was practically still a child.
Kids could be a little temperamental. Xu Qing comforted herself with that thought.
“It’s alright. Once we join the group today, you’ll be able to change beds,” Xu Qing said with a light laugh. “You should hurry and pack your things. The program crew’s car will be here soon. Do you need breakfast? I can have room service bring it to your room.”
Mu Lingwan replied indifferently, “No need, thank you.”
With that, she closed the door right in Xu Qing’s face.
Xu Qing touched the tip of her nose, thinking this young girl named Rong Qing had quite the temper. But… it matched well with Mu Lingwan’s fiery personality.
This was bound to be entertaining in the future.
After changing clothes and having breakfast, Zhou Ying finally entered the room with a grave expression, closing the door behind her.
“There’s a rather tricky situation,” Zhou Ying said to Mu Lingwan.
Mu Lingwan sipped her black coffee and glanced up at Zhou Ying, a sense of unease creeping in. This feeling had started last night when she couldn’t sleep well.
Zhou Ying lowered her voice. “The director of ‘Heartbeat Moment’ has been replaced, and so has the scriptwriter. This season’s theme is different from the previous two. The production team thinks we shouldn’t focus on sweet romance anymore, so they’ve changed the original plan… they want to create a battlefield of love.”
A battlefield of love?
Mu Lingwan’s expression darkened immediately. No wonder so many familiar faces had shown up—they were all here for her.
Rong Qing looked confused and asked softly, “What do you mean by a battlefield of love?”
Zhou Ying turned to her with a sympathetic look and explained, “You might have heard some things. Besides Xu Qing and her assistant, there are two other guests—Shen Nian and Ming Qiao.”
“Shen Nian is a rising star, often paired with Lingwan online. Their fanbases are sworn enemies, constantly at odds.”
“Ming Qiao was once Lingwan’s protégé, but after gaining fame, she left the company to pursue her own career. Our relationship with her isn’t great, and neither are our fans.”
Zhou Ying continued, “Xu Qing has a close relationship with Lingwan, and there were even rumors they were together at one point, so their dynamic seems ambiguous to outsiders. Now, with all these people gathered together, the production team wants to see a scene of women fighting for attention, so…”
“So, can I leave now?” Mu Lingwan asked.
“Afraid not,” Zhou Ying said. “The contract’s already signed, and promotions are out. Besides, this isn’t just about you…” She glanced at Rong Qing and whispered, “Miss Rong’s chance to make a name for herself also depends on this show.”
Hearing this concerned her, Rong Qing quickly spoke up, “You don’t have to consider me.”
“You’re right,” Mu Lingwan cut in. “What’s coming will come. I’m just worried Rong Qing won’t be able to handle those women.”
Zhou Ying shared the same concern. If it were just Mu Lingwan, she’d actually find it amusing—two rivals, an ambiguous friend, and a current girlfriend all in one place? That sounded thrilling.
But with Rong Qing caught in the middle, it was worrisome.
Mu Lingwan was also troubled. The crew would be arriving soon to pick them up, and there was no way to avoid it now. She couldn’t help but glance at Rong Qing, wondering if she should have a talk with the girl.
Rong Qing turned her head and saw Mu Lingwan staring at her, her heart skipping a beat.
“I can do it.” Rong Qing remained silent for two seconds before speaking. “If you decide to join the production team, I promise I won’t make any mistakes.”
