- Chapter 50 - The Pure President
He Roushuang felt the cool touch of Shi Qing’s hand against her skin as her wrist was firmly gripped.
Shi Qing had rejected her reward and confessed her feelings with a directness that made an inner voice mock He Roushuang:
See that, He Roushuang?
You’re the real coward.
Despite having resolved to ignore such things, she panicked when the moment arrived. He Roushuang didn’t know what to say.
Instead, she reached out and tightly embraced Shi Qing’s slender neck, her voice still stubbornly defiant:
“I’m letting you have this one. Next time won’t be the same.”
Uncertain whether the Female Lead might be snatched away by another man, He Roushuang had always aimed to be the dominant party in their relationship, believing it would make it easier to withdraw later.
But now…
He Roushuang had a different idea.
Whether it was the second male lead or the third, she would crush them all. One by one, or two by two.
“Alright,” Shi Qing replied with a smile, her eyes curving into crescents as she readily agreed.
Truth be told, He Roushuang was somewhat nervous. Watching something unfold and experiencing it firsthand were entirely different.
She instinctively covered her eyes with the back of her hand, unwilling to reveal her completely surrendered state to Shi Qing. But cool, damp fingers closed around her wrist.
“Sister… why are you running away?”
Shi Qing didn’t like this feeling. Was it because she didn’t look exactly like the person she was trying to imitate?
The grip on her wrist was a little too tight. He Roushuang frowned slightly, then fixed Shi Qing with her eyes, the corners of which were tinged with red, a hint of annoyance still lingering in their depths.
“Do you really need me to admit it?”
“Looking at you makes me shy.”
He Roushuang simply admitted it, closing her eyes and bracing herself for Shi Qing’s mockery.
But instead of mockery, she received gentle, soothing strokes. Shi Qing’s fingertips brushed through her hair, as if caressing a docile, obedient pet.
She loved it when her sister said things like this, because it meant she was getting a reaction.
Whether that emotion was annoyance or shyness.
Shi Qing was clumsy in her attempts, but she noticed that He Roushuang was even more flustered, her eyes nearly squeezed shut.
He Roushuang also had a habit of burying her face in the pillow, making it impossible for Shi Qing to see her expression. She had to part the long, dark hair with her fingers to reveal that bashful face.
Shi Qing lowered her head.
The tip of her high, straight nose brushed against the smooth, rounded shoulder. Unable to resist, she left her mark there.
She felt elated.
Perhaps she was finally one step closer to the stars than the moon in the sky.
The trembling body, the delicate touch—
Shi Qing imprinted it all in her mind. She felt utterly content, knowing she would never forget this feeling for the rest of her life.
The next day dawned.
When He Roushuang woke up, she saw golden sunlight streaming through the skyscraper’s glass windows, casting dazzling halos across the room.
Her entire body ached.
She didn’t want to move.
To be honest, this felt just like a hangover. The momentary pleasure of the night before was now followed by the torment of sleep deprivation and the agony of her body feeling like it was falling apart, all crashing down like a raging flood.
He Roushuang turned her head.
Shi Qing was sleeping soundly beside her.
He Roushuang’s gaze drifted downward involuntarily. She couldn’t resist the urge to show off, like a peacock spreading its tail feathers.
Come on!
I’m amazing, right?!
I’ve even conquered the Female Lead!
Though, to be fair, money had played a significant role.
Despite the ambiguity of their current relationship, it had already transcended the influence of wealth and status.
Still, she couldn’t deny the initial reason for their meeting. And… He Roushuang didn’t see relying on money as shameful. She simply hated that Shi Qing seemed to love money more than her.
But if that were truly the case, she’d just use money to bind her tightly!
As He Roushuang pondered what to do after they truly got together, she heard a faint rustling beside her.
It sounded like a puppy stirring in its bed.
Without even looking, she knew it was Shi Qing.
Neither of them was drunk, so there was no dramatic awakening with clothes clutched in shock, no slapping a stack of cash or checks onto the bed with a resounding thud. The usual tropes of such scenarios simply didn’t materialize.
“Sister He…”
“You’ve never… done this before?”
Shi Qing was genuinely stunned.
She had assumed that with He Roushuang’s lingering obsession with her “white moonlight,” she must have had several substitutes in the past. Shi Qing had even searched for He Roushuang’s name online, finding numerous rumors about her romantic entanglements with both men and women.
That was why Shi Qing had acted without hesitation.
But now that she knew the truth, an indescribable feeling welled up in her heart.
It was as if all those rumors had dissolved into wispy clouds and drifted away.
Sister He was hers.
At least for now, that was the only certainty Shi Qing could cling to.
“Ahem…”
He Roushuang coughed awkwardly, Shi Qing had truly hit a nerve.
“Of course. I’m very particular about my personal conduct.”
He Roushuang flipped over, completely pinning Shi Qing’s slender wrist. Her eyes rippled with layers of amusement.
“I’ve told you before, but you never believed me.”
“Now you’ve confirmed it with your own hands, haven’t you?”
He Roushuang spoke the last few words slowly, biting her lip.
Shi Qing stared blankly at her hand, then nodded. She leaned closer to He Roushuang, whispering her thoughts.
“I’m the same way. So, if you want…”
He Roushuang: ……
She reached out and covered Shi Qing’s mouth.
“No, not now. It’s impossible.”
Her lower back felt like a cornstalk battered by a tornado, utterly incapable of enduring another round of exertion.
“You need to let me rest.”
He Roushuang’s voice carried a hint of pleading.
Shi Qing found it amusing. Sister He is misunderstanding. I’m not that wicked, am I?
To wear her out both day and night…
The azure sea surged with white-capped waves under the sea breeze, the mist dispersed, and the sparks from his cigarette burned to their end.
With a cigarette dangling from his lips, the man wearily hauled up the fishing net.
“Just one more month… one more month and I’ll have 100,000 yuan!”
“I need to go back, pay off those loans, and maybe Wenlan will forgive me.”
Shi Jianye bit his chapped lips, the sea wind drying and roughening his skin.
Going to sea and fishing was a suggestion from his buddies, who were also burdened by exorbitant loans.
At sea, working as an undocumented laborer meant lower wages, but it offered refuge from enemies and debt collectors.
Even if they had the skill to reach the heavens or dive into the depths, they couldn’t match the speed of a fishing boat.
He had already saved some money.
Though not enough to repay the entire debt, it was enough for a fresh start, a chance to reinvent himself.
Just then, the captain emerged, his face ashen, glaring at Shi Jianye with a look that could devour a man whole.
“Shi Jianye, who the hell did you piss off?!”
“People from the Tianze Group have been calling us!”
The captain had no desire to clash with the Tianze Group, especially a conglomerate with subsidiaries spanning every industry.
It was a death sentence.
