- Chapter 7 - Now, Come Closer to Me
Shi Qing was practically thrown into the car, her head spinning from the impact.
The interior of the luxury car was lavish, and she nearly sank into the plush leather seats as He Roushuang leaned in close.
The door slammed shut. Though the cabin was spacious for one person, it felt cramped with two.
He Roushuang straightened up and rolled down the window, gazing with disdain at the man who had chased after them.
“Is this the quality of your company’s supervisors? Pathetic.”
Now’s my chance to tease the Female Lead, she thought. If I don’t mess with her now, it’ll be too late once she grows stronger.
Though the Female Lead was always a substitute in the novel, she remained clear-headed throughout.
Fueled by hatred for the Male Lead after her mother’s death, even the later melodramatic “chasing after his wife” arc and forgiveness tropes couldn’t erase that resentment.
“Everyone lusts after beauty,” Shi Qing said listlessly. “That’s just how the world is.”
Then, realizing what she’d said, she realized she’d inadvertently insulted her own patron.
And she’d used such crude language:Â lusts after beauty.
“I… I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to say that about you.”
Shi Qing’s fingers twisted together. In truth, she had meant exactly what she said. He Roushuang was no different from those men who lusted after beauty, only with the genders reversed.
But since she had made her choice, she shouldn’t be so sentimental.
Whatever the person before her asked her to do, she would do it, even if it meant acting like a dog or barking like one.
She wanted her mother to live. That was the promise she had made.
He Roushuang: …
Such cynical words. She remembered saying similar things herself back when she used to squeeze onto the subway early in the morning.
I empathize so deeply.
But no matter how much she agreed inwardly, He Roushuang maintained a calm, detached facade. After all, she was now a capitalist.
“You hate him, don’t you? If you hate him, you should learn to refuse.”
“Don’t worry, I’ll back you up. If this company isn’t good enough, we’ll find another. If all else fails, you can join Tianze Group.”
He Roushuang rested her left hand on her chin, her voice soft and gentle.
Noticing the man chasing after them with flowers, He Roushuang hatched a plan to tease him.
“Shi Qing.”
For the first time, He Roushuang spoke Shi Qing’s full name aloud, though she had rehearsed it countless times in private.
But there’s still something special about saying the names of characters from books I’ve read aloud, you know?
“Now, kiss me.”
Even though I refused in the bathtub, if this could help the Female Lead fend off that rotten suitor, then playing along wouldn’t be so bad. Besides, getting cozy with a beauty like this? I’m the one benefiting here, right?
Shi Qing’s mind short-circuited for a moment.
But she eventually snapped back to reality. Though she felt it was inappropriate to kiss on a busy street with the car window open, how could she refuse her sugar daddy’s request?
Leaning one hand against the soft leather of the luxury car, Shi Qing kissed the corner of He Roushuang’s lips.
Despite her usual pretense of sophistication, her inexperience showed the moment her lips touched He Roushuang’s.
Awkward, clumsy.
Her teeth bumped against He Roushuang’s lip, causing a slight sting.
He Roushuang frowned slightly but didn’t scold Shi Qing. Instead, she glanced sideways at the man who looked like he’d just eaten dog poop.
His hands were trembling so badly he could barely hold the bouquet. A smug satisfaction flickered in He Roushuang’s eyes. Clearly, she’d nearly driven the guy to a breakdown.
She reached out to cradle the back of Shi Qing’s head, deepening the kiss with unrestrained passion. It was a truly intimate kiss, the only sound between them the frantic rhythm of their breathing.
When they finally parted, He Roushuang’s lipstick was smudged, leaving her lips glistening with a dewy sheen that made her heart pound wildly.
This was He Roushuang’s first kiss, making her practically a fledgling. Her hands were clenched so tightly she nearly tore through the leather seat.
Yet compared to her female lead’s flustered state, He Roushuang, the one who knew the truth, managed to conceal her own nervousness remarkably well.
Good, no slip-ups! she thought smugly.
If Shi Qing ever found out this was also He Roushuang’s first kiss, wouldn’t she completely lose face as the domineering CEO?
He Roushuang had no intention of letting that happen.
“Want to continue…Â Jiejie?” Shi Qing asked softly, her voice trembling. Despite her innocent demeanor, her breathing was already uneven.
If not for the need to drive away that rotten peach blossom, He Roushuang would have already collapsed weakly against the car window. But she couldn’t afford to surrender yet. She had to crush that rotten peach blossom, tear it to shreds.
“No need,” He Roushuang replied, a faint smile playing on her lips. Her gaze locked onto the man, and she mouthed the words:
“She’s my girlfriend.”
If Ruo Guo followed the lip movements and repeated them exactly, she would produce that pronunciation. The team leader’s face flushed crimson with rage, his neck veins bulging.
He lost his grip, and the flower tumbled to the ground, its petals scattering.
The car slowly pulled away. Clearly, the team leader had just had his world shattered. He could never have imagined that Shi Qing, so popular within the company, actually…
actually had a girlfriend!
But no matter how twisted the man’s face became with anger, Shi Qing could no longer see it.
The car sped forward, soon arriving at He Roushuang’s apartment—Tianfu Ziyuan, a pinnacle of luxury architecture towering in the city center.
The bodyguards, impeccably dressed in crisp, new uniforms, were tall and handsome, greeting visitors with warm hospitality.
This was a world apart from the unguarded urban village where Shi Qing had lived.
Seeing the young woman’s slightly uneasy expression, like a kitten moved to a new home and feeling out of place, He Roushuang understood perfectly.
She remembered her own disorientation when she first transmigrated here, completely unfamiliar with this world. It took her a long time to realize she had entered a novel. At first, she lay in bed, thinking a good night’s sleep would send her back, only to find it made no difference.
Some protagonists in novels, after dying, unexpectedly return to the real world. He Roushuang had considered trying this, but she didn’t dare.
She was afraid of death!
Although the original protagonist’s lavish possessions—luxury cars and mansions—had soothed her wounded heart, she wanted to live, to possess all of it.
To survive and keep everything, He Roushuang had to interfere with the novel’s plot.
But… she simply couldn’t bring herself to risk death for the chance of returning to her original world.
What if this was truly her only chance to live?
To waste it on a mere experiment would be too tragic.
Seeing the situation, He Roushuang shifted slightly closer and reached out to take Shi Qing’s soft, slender hand. The female protagonist’s hands were delicate yet surprisingly strong, her fingers nimble…
Wait!
What was she thinking?
He Roushuang suddenly realized she was overstepping boundaries. This unrestrained touching was no different from the behavior of a hooligan. A female hooligan was still a hooligan!
