- Chapter 12 - Tan You bit her lip…
“Tan You bit her lip; her voice was soft at the end. “Li Li, you don’t want to?”

The woman had so many qualities that made it easy to fall in love with her. Her voice was naturally full of affection, languid and lingering, giving one the illusion of being cherished and loved.
Feeling Tan You’s skin against hers, Lan Jingli was as if bewitched, hugging her tightly, eliciting a few breaths of a seductive, bone-melting moan.
“Jiejie, of course I want to.”
“Li Li you are so good. Later, I’ll take you somewhere to have fun.”
“Of course.” Lan Jingli’s gaze wandered, and the thought of Wei Xueyin coming to see Tan You twisted her heart like a knife. “I’m just worried I’ll be bothering you, Jiejie.”
The woman’s fragrant fingers traced Lan Jingli’s lips. “If I don’t think it’s a bother, then it isn’t.”

At seven in the evening, they took a yacht that cut through the dark, murky sea. Half an hour later, they arrived at the island.
The destination was in the center of the island, and due to the dramatic change in elevation, it was best to go by helicopter.
Lan Jingli watched in surprise as Tan You operated the helicopter with an indifferent expression. The engine started, flight instructions came through the tower via the headset, and the helicopter slowly lifted off, its rotors creating a violent gust of wind.
Lan Jingli looked down from the sky. The mountain road was long and vast, almost a ninety-degree cliff, like a sharp scythe.
This was a novel experience Lan Jingli had never had before. The woman’s pale, porcelain-like face moved through the moonlight and the lights, appearing and disappearing, far and near, like a flickering movie reel.
It was a quick trip from one end of the island to the cliff, and in less than ten minutes, the helicopter was ready to land.
Not far from the helipad stood two slender, tall figures. The younger one had permed wavy, silver-gray hair and a bewitching, charming air.
The other was a bit older, wearing an embroidered cheongsam. She had a cold elegance similar to Tan You’s, but the gentle look in her eyes made her seem very approachable.
The older one was Tan You’s aunt, Tan Lu. Lan Jingli immediately recognized the younger one: Xie Lan, a superstar diva with countless representative works, a talented woman who was both a composer and a singer, a groundbreaking figure.
“Youyou,” Tan Lu came to meet them, looking at Tan You with concern, then subtly glancing at Lan Jingli. “Is this the… friend you mentioned?”
She didn’t want to call her a “little lover” to her face, even though that was how Tan You had introduced her.
Besides, she looked at this child named Lan Jingli, who was fair-skinned and pretty, with an innocent, naive quality. Her eyes were obedient, yet she had an untamable air about her, a rather contradictory mix.
“Aunt, Xie Lan,” Tan You nodded, greeting them.
Xie Lan smiled in response to Tan You, then stared at Lan Jingli with a warm, direct smile.
“I’ve seen you before.”
Lan Jingli’s mind froze for a second. She didn’t understand how this “seeing before” could have happened. She was a girl who had worked hard to get out of the mountains, and meeting Tan You was already an improbability of less than one in a million. How could she also be recognized by the famous superstar diva?
“Syzygy, right? I saw your performance at the underground bar. I really like your band’s rock attitude.”
“Youyou, you definitely haven’t been taking your medicine on time. You’ve gotten so much thinner,” Tan Lu led the way, carefully examining her niece’s unchanging, beautiful, yet sickly face. “I know you’re busy with the company’s affairs all day, and you’ve given up your hobbies of acting and botany. And because of that illness, you’ve had a very…”
“Aunt, I’m used to it,” Tan You interrupted her aunt’s long-winded concern.
“I heard Wei Xueyin came back to find you, to talk about marriage? You had a pleasant conversation?”
“It was alright.”
“If you’re going to marry Wei Xueyin,” Tan Lu subtly gestured toward Lan Jingli, “is she just your pre-marital entertainment? How many lovers have you gone through these years? Why don’t you take relationships seriously?”
Tan You’s voice was clear and melodious, with a kind of innocent earnestness.
“Xie Lan has been chasing you for so many years, and she still hasn’t softened your heart.”
Tan Lu became serious. “A’Lan is just my student. And you, knowing the gap in social standing with that child is so wide, are you still going to be so reckless?”
“Aunt, you’re exaggerating. No matter how wild I am, it doesn’t compare to the decade of entanglement between you and Xie Lan.”
“Don’t you dare tell me you’re serious about your current kept girl.”
“I’m serious about everyone,” Tan You curved her lips, her expression subtle.
Tan Lu was speechless. The Tan family’s reputation was originally upright and pure. They had enough headaches with Tan You’s father, the prodigal son, and now they had focused their efforts on nurturing Tan You, only to discover they had cultivated another philanderer.

On the other side, Xie Lan took Lan Jingli on a tour of the villa on the island, encouraging her a few times and saying she hoped to go to one of their concerts in the future, then hurriedly left to find Tan Lu.
Lan Jingli was left alone in the open-plan apartment, admiring the famous calligraphy hanging on the wall. This place was constantly eroded by the sea wind, which was very bad for preserving paper.
She had looked up this island before she came. It belonged to a foreign billionaire who was likely Tan You’s business partner and would be coming to the island to talk business tomorrow.
“It’s a genuine piece,” Tan You said as she walked over from the corridor, answering Lan Jingli’s question.
Lan Jingli’s confusion deepened. “Then why isn’t it being properly preserved? Isn’t this a waste of a good thing? It feels like very tasteless behavior.”
She then felt a little embarrassed for criticizing Tan You’s business partner and stuck out her tongue.
“It is indeed tasteless,” Tan You stood backlit, her beautiful and moving face looking profound. “People can easily become foolish, going with the flow, becoming mediocre and even ridiculous. Billionaires have their own kind of foolishness, and so do the poor.”
Lan Jingli nodded in profound agreement, her charmingly obedient expression showing her affection. “No wonder the fables I read as a child always liked to satirize the wealthy.”
Tan You watched her with a deep gaze for a few seconds. “Are you scolding me too, Li Li?”
“No, of course not,” Lan Jingli said with a serious expression. “Jiejie is different.”
Tan You lowered her eyes and chuckled softly, her cool voice possessing an indescribable sexiness.
“Li Li’s words are so sweet.”
This woman was usually so cold and detached, but sometimes she would reveal a moment of tenderness that would make Lan Jingli’s heart violently tremble and pound erratically. She would naturally lower her eyes, afraid to look at Tan You.
It was eight in the evening, and Aunt Wan had brought several urgent documents for Tan You to handle.
The woman went to the study to reply to a few requests for instructions and to order the secretarial office to supervise a few urgent matters.
Lan Jingli was alone in another guest room, keeping the lights on brightly while doing her bookkeeping.
Then, she received a phone call from Wei Yixi.
“Jingli, our band is going to be revived! Companies, producers, and directors are all begging us to debut and giving us resources.”
Lan Jingli was a bit confused since she hadn’t been online. “Why?”
“You don’t know?” Wei Yixi on the phone was taken aback and explained, “Xie Lan posted a photo of you guys on Weibo. Now all those hypocrites in the industry who only flatter the powerful are panicking and calling our manager one after another to give us resources.”
“You said who?”
“Xie Lan, didn’t you take a picture with her?”
The string in her heart gave a slight, trembling sound.
A faint warmth welled up in Lan Jingli’s eyes. She hadn’t expected Tan You to use such a gentle method, preserving her insignificant self-esteem while solving her current predicament.
She didn’t want love and loyalty to be mixed with money, so Tan You indulged her, using a more respectable method to cleverly link the dimensions of loyalty and power.
“Xixi, I’ll call you back later.”
Lan Jingli couldn’t suppress the unspeakable joy in her heart. She ran to the corridor, then paced back and forth in front of Tan You’s room.
What should she say?
Saying thank you was too cliché, and saying she would repay her was too fake. No matter what she said, it wouldn’t be worthy of Tan You.
She had been pacing for half an hour when the door opened. The woman, as elegant as snow, had a flushed face, her mind somewhere between clear and lost.
“Jiejie?”
Tan You stood in the misty, damp light, saying nothing, only beckoning to Lan Jingli. She immediately became the spoils of the woman’s skirt again.
By the time Lan Jingli reacted, she was inside the bedroom. The cold and abstinent woman was kneeling on the soft bed, her weak and pale body wrapped in a thin black strap, a few red marks trembling slightly, as if waiting to be plucked at any moment.
“Jiejie, you…” Lan Jingli’s heart was beating so fast, but she could only manage the most cliché of thanks. “Thank you, I don’t know what to do.”
Tan You gently bit open the finger condom package, putting it on Lan Jingli little by little. Herred lips were slightly parted, and her snowy white teeth held her slender fingers, her small tongue curling around them with a subtle hint of seduction.
The pain and desire of an addiction flare-up made her eyes slightly unfocused.
“This is enough.”
