Chapter 23: Take Off Your Clothes.
Zhou Tian nodded honestly. “I want to.”
Wen Mingzhi couldn’t help but smile again and didn’t say anything more.
Across from them, Xia Ruo lowered her head even further, while Assistant Chen remained composed and serious.
After a long moment, Zhou Tian nervously asked, “President Wen… so, are you going to the Cuiyu Villa today?” She clutched the hem of her clothes tightly, stealing cautious glances at Wen Mingzhi.
“What do you think?” Wen Mingzhi exhaled a puff of white smoke, her eyes slightly raised. Cold and aloof, yet with a hint of allure—she was elegantly captivating in every movement.
Zhou Tian especially liked this side of her.
When she didn’t smile, she exuded noble coldness. But when she did smile, she was enchanting and seductive. These two opposite qualities coexisted within her harmoniously, stirring the heart.
Zhou Tian couldn’t help but smile as she stared at her for a while.
The yacht soon docked at the pier. Wen Mingzhi disembarked and got into a black luxury sedan, while Assistant Chen stayed behind with them.
“Come on, Miss Zhou. We’ll take this car. From now on, it’s yours. If you need to go anywhere, just let the driver know.”
“Okay, thank you.” Zhou Tian got in.
In the backseat, she and Xia Ruo exchanged silent glances.
“Assistant Chen, we need to terminate our contracts with our current entertainment agency. Could we go to the company first? There are some things we haven’t taken care of yet.”
“Of course, Miss Zhou. We do need to coordinate the handover,” Assistant Chen replied with a nod.
Though they hadn’t said much, Assistant Chen already had a good idea what it was about. She knew everything about Zhou Tian.
Li Aoyun was probably doomed. Assistant Chen mentally lit a candle for her.
The car made a U-turn and headed toward the company.
Meanwhile, Xia Ruo typed furiously on her phone, contacting someone at the company to ask if that wretched Li Aoyun was there.
Once they got confirmation, the two of them shared a gleeful smirk.
What goes around comes around.
Soon, they arrived at the company. Zhou Tian asked, “Assistant Chen, would you come with us?”
“Of course.”
So, with Xia Ruo leading the way, she kicked open the door to Li Aoyun’s office.
“Li Aoyun! Your great aunt is here!” Xia Ruo shouted loudly.
Zhou Tian stood beside her, slightly raising her chin and pouting, trying to look fierce to back Xia Ruo up.
But honestly, she looked fair and soft, totally harmless.
“Li Aoyun, you’re finished!” Zhou Tian added.
“What are you doing!? Xia Ruo, why are you barging in and yelling like that?” Li Aoyun shouted back.
“We’re here to officially terminate our contracts, obviously!”
“Heh, just talking about termination? Where’s your termination fee? Don’t make me laugh.” Li Aoyun stood up, sneering with disdain.
“Just here to inform you—we’re done! As for the penalty fee, don’t worry your head about it. You should be worrying about yourself.” Xia Ruo smirked and pulled Zhou Tian over to sit confidently on the sofa.
Assistant Chen followed suit and sat beside them.
“What’s this supposed to mean? And who are you?” Li Aoyun looked at the composed, professional Assistant Chen with confusion.
Though she was unsure, her tone remained arrogant as ever.
“Let me introduce her. This is Assistant Chen, Wen Mingzhi’s assistant,” Zhou Tian said with a sweet, confident smile, eyebrows lifting with pride.
“Hello, Miss Li.” Assistant Chen greeted her politely by procedure, though her posture was far from deferential.
“What?! Wen Mingzhi’s assistant?” Li Aoyun’s face turned pale with shock. Only then did she realize something was very wrong.
“Yes, Director Li. I took your advice seriously and held on tight to President Wen’s thigh. I should be thanking you, actually.” Zhou Tian said mockingly.
“President Wen? Ah… no, Miss Chen, this is all a misunderstanding. Please explain to President Wen. I might scold them occasionally, but that’s just my style—it’s for their own good, to help their development…” Li Aoyun immediately changed her tune, lowering herself pathetically and begging Assistant Chen with flattery.
“Miss Li, I think you’re mistaken. It’s not me you need to talk to. I’m simply following President Wen’s orders and taking instructions from Miss Zhou,” Assistant Chen replied with a smile, though her words were cold and final.
“This… how can that be? Aren’t you working for President Wen?” Li Aoyun muttered, glancing awkwardly at Zhou Tian.
She was clearly struggling—having to beg someone she once viewed as a subordinate.
But before she could dwell on it, Li Aoyun quickly turned to the two of them, putting on a sycophantic smile, eyes full of fake apology.
Completely different from her arrogant self moments ago—her ability to switch faces was uncanny.
“Li Aoyun, that’s quite the quick face-change,” Xia Ruo sneered.
“Oh come on, Xia Ruo, Zhou Tian, haven’t I always treated you fairly? Given you resources and connections? Some things—minor mistakes, misunderstandings—can’t we just move past them?”
“Zhou Tian, you’re kind. Talk to Xia Ruo, help calm her down. Friction between colleagues is normal, right? Since you’re terminating your contracts anyway, let’s put it all behind us. You both have great potential, you’ll go far.” She crouched beside the sofa, bowing and scraping.
“Is that so?” Zhou Tian stood up. “I’m kind?”
Li Aoyun got up as well, clinging to her side.
Zhou Tian suddenly raised her hand and slapped her. “I’m kind?!”
“So that’s why you took advantage of me and Xia Jie? Because we’re easy targets?” She slapped her again. “Summer Jie isn’t impulsive, is she?” And delivered another slap.
Li Aoyun clutched her face, glaring in disbelief. She looked like she wanted to stop Zhou Tian but didn’t dare. So she had no choice but to endure the three slaps.
Even as she covered her face, she kept smiling, still groveling. “It’s my fault. Hit me if it helps you vent—I won’t dodge. Please, go ahead.”
She even grabbed Zhou Tian’s hand as she said this.
Zhou Tian jerked her hand away and stepped back.
“Zhou Tian, as long as you’re not angry anymore, let’s forget it, okay?” Li Aoyun begged.
“Heh…” Zhou Tian let out a cold laugh and stepped back again, avoiding her touch.
Xia Ruo stepped forward and stood beside her. “Forget it? Just a few slaps and it’s all even? Li Aoyun, you really think too highly of yourself.”
She was worried that Li Aoyun might suddenly lash out—she hadn’t missed the vicious glint in her eyes.
“You think all those casting couch games were for our own good?” Xia Ruo gave her a shove.
“Xia Ruo! This has nothing to do with you! What are you doing?” In Li Aoyun’s mind, Xia Ruo had no status and no right to speak to her this way.
But with Zhou Tian and Assistant Chen here, she couldn’t do much.
“How does it not involve me? Summer Jie and I are both terminating our contracts, and we’re signing with President Wen’s entertainment company. She even agreed to pay both our penalties. So you tell me, does it involve me?” Zhou Tian explained deliberately.
“This… fine, fine. So what, do you want to slap me too?” Li Aoyun snapped sarcastically.
Before she could blink, Xia Ruo slapped her. “What a strange request.”
“Let me grant your wish.” She gave her several more slaps.
“You think this will just blow over? You think President Wen will let you off the hook?” Zhou Tian felt much better, but she wanted to scare her. She knew what truly terrified Li Aoyun—Wen Mingzhi.
“President Wen—no, Zhou Tian, please don’t tell her… I’ll give you whatever you want. If you’re still angry, hit me again, as many times as you want. Just don’t tell President Wen. Please, spare me.” Li Aoyun dropped to her knees and begged.
Zhou Tian and Xia Ruo were stunned. They hadn’t expected her to grovel like this—clearly, she feared Wen Mingzhi immensely.
“Oh yeah? How many parties did you force us to attend? How many casting couches did you try to shove us into? How many times did you curse us out? You think this is something you can just walk away from?” Xia Ruo spat, full of rage.
“Drinking? Fine, I’ll drink.” Li Aoyun scrambled up, grabbed a bottle of alcohol from her cabinet, opened it, and started chugging.
“Please, Zhou Tian, say something. Just don’t tell President Wen. Assistant Chen, I’m begging you too.” She was drenched in alcohol, crying as she knelt and even clung to Zhou Tian’s leg.
“Let go of me.” Zhou Tian backed away several steps, disturbed by her drastic change.
“Zhou Tian? Xia Ruo, please…” she sobbed.
Assistant Chen, who sat on the sofa, averted her eyes. Having worked with Wen Mingzhi, she’d seen this kind of scene too many times. Humans were small, pitiful creatures. You never know what’ll happen next.
Zhou Tian and Xia Ruo were still innocent and naive—untested by real storms. Wen Mingzhi, however, was different. She was ruthless, clean, and precise when taking action.
If Li Aoyun fell into her hands, she’d meet a miserable end—just like President Cheng before her. With that precedent, of course Li Aoyun was scared.
“Let’s go, Summer Jie…” Zhou Tian tugged on Xia Ruo’s arm, frowning. The sight in front of her was unsettling.
“Alright, let’s go. You’re lucky today.” Xia Ruo shot her a glare, spat those words, and left with Zhou Tian.
“What a disgrace. I thought she could act tough forever. She’s just a coward who bullies the weak,” Xia Ruo muttered angrily.
They stepped out of the company and took a deep breath. From now on, they had a new future ahead.
After dropping Xia Ruo off, Zhou Tian packed up and moved into the Cuiyu Villa.
Everything she needed was prepared by Auntie Li and Assistant Chen.
Once she was done unpacking, Zhou Tian came downstairs and noticed something in the corner of the living room—a guitar preserved inside a transparent display case. A warmth welled up inside her.
This place still had traces of her. To Wen Mingzhi, she wasn’t just a passing presence.
She wondered if Wen Mingzhi would come back tonight. She was currently in her heat—maybe she would? Or maybe not… But Zhou Tian still held on to a sliver of hope.
As long as she could be with Wen Mingzhi, she was happy.
Night fell. Just when Zhou Tian thought Wen Mingzhi wouldn’t come home, she returned.
“President Wen, you’re back?” she chirped cheerfully, flitting around her like a little sparrow.
Wen Mingzhi had planned to wash up first, but the scent of alpha cherry blossom pheromones in the room was far too tempting.
She pulled Zhou Tian into her arms.
“Take off your clothes,” she said, her voice hoarse with desire.
She kissed her clavicle, leaving deep, lingering marks.
The air filled with the scent of violet pheromones, steeping them in a haze of arousal.
Zhou Tian kissed the gland on her neck.
Then came Wen Mingzhi’s whisper: “Mark me, little one.”
And Zhou Tian bit down on the swollen gland.
The body in her arms trembled…
And so began another round…
The night was dark, the crescent moon veiled behind thick clouds.
“…”
Time flew by. Just like that, Zhou Tian had stayed by Wen Mingzhi’s side for over a year. Her role as a lover was kept quiet from the outside world, though the insiders all knew without needing to say it aloud.
Zhou Tian had initially lived at the Cuiyu Villa, but through her efforts and carefully winning Wen Mingzhi over, she was allowed to occasionally stay at the Qinli Manor—when Wen Mingzhi was in a good mood.
Like today—Wen Mingzhi was meeting friends to play golf.
Zhou Tian wasn’t very good at golf but had been learning.
Even so, she couldn’t quite blend into Wen Mingzhi’s world.
There were a lot of guests today, including Shen Yishuang, an international supermodel who had previously worked with Wen Mingzhi. According to recent news, she was supposed to be abroad walking fashion shows.
“Zhou Tian, you’re here too? Great! We can all hang out,” Fei Xing’en greeted her excitedly.
“Yeah, let’s all have fun.” Zhou Tian looked around—everyone present was wealthy and powerful. Even the seemingly idle Fei Xing’en was the heiress of a massive conglomerate.
Xu Baiqiu owned a high-end restaurant, and among them was an alpha named Situ Yujia—rumored to be the CEO of MN Corporation.
Zhou Tian wasn’t familiar with many of them.
They were all Wen Mingzhi’s friends. At times like this, Zhou Tian always felt painfully small. Though she stood among them, it was as if an invisible barrier set her apart—they were not from the same world.
Still, she forced herself to blend in. She wanted to stay by Wen Mingzhi’s side, to step into her world, to be part of her life… to become someone Wen Mingzhi was used to.
“Why did you bring her along, Mingzhi?” Situ Yujia frowned.
“Mmm. You can bring your own dates too,” Wen Mingzhi replied coolly as she swung her club.
The white ball flew through the air, landing on the lush green and rolling into the hole.
“We don’t have fixed partners, okay?” an alpha joked nearby.
“Who says that? Xu Baiqiu’s already getting married. Though it’s been a long engagement—when’s the actual wedding?” Fei Xing’en teased.
Everyone here was good at golf. She wisely chose not to embarrass herself by joining.
“Soon, I guess,” Shen Yishuang replied casually.
Xu Baiqiu just smiled without saying a word.
“Fei Xing’en, come try it! Maybe you’ll get lucky and sink it in one shot,” an omega called out to her.
“Wow… looks like none of you have changed.” Shen Yishuang sighed. She usually lived abroad and traveled constantly. It was rare for everyone to be together.
“Hello, I’m Shen Yishuang. You know who I am, right?” She walked over, greeting others.
Her eyes landed on Zhou Tian, scanning her up and down with a faint smile.
“Hello,” Shen Yishuang nodded at her.
There was no insult, no mockery—but Zhou Tian still felt uncomfortable under her gaze. She tried to ignore it, understanding her position: lowly, like an ant.
“Hi, I’m Zhou Tian.” She smiled and extended her hand.
But Shen Yishuang walked right past her like she didn’t exist.
Zhou Tian was left awkwardly hanging, her hand in the air. She quietly withdrew it.
“Tch. Doesn’t even belong on stage,” someone sneered from the crowd.
Zhou Tian looked over but couldn’t tell who had spoken. Most of the faces were vaguely familiar, but she didn’t know them personally.
“Zhou Tian, let’s go look around. See that chestnut horse? President Wen’s had it since childhood—it’s very precious,” Fei Xing’en tried to smooth things over, patting her arm.
Zhou Tian glanced over. It was indeed a proud, majestic steed.
She shifted her gaze back to Wen Mingzhi.
Wen Mingzhi was still focused on her swing, aiming at the ball on the grass.
“Mingzhi’s golf skills are still amazing,” Shen Yishuang said beside her, clapping.
The two looked picture-perfect together.
Zhou Tian lowered her gaze, feeling dejected.
And she wasn’t the only one watching.
Situ Yujia approached and murmured close to her, “Little canary, don’t forget your place. Just because you’re beside Mingzhi doesn’t mean you’re anything. Pets should act like pets. Don’t overreach.”
Her voice was just loud enough for others nearby to hear.
Zhou Tian glared back. “Thanks for the reminder, but that’s not your place to say, is it?” she responded firmly.
“Oh? A little alpha with quite the temper. I thought Mingzhi preferred obedient types,” an omega nearby quipped.
Zhou Tian glared at them too.
“Guys, can’t you behave? We’re here to have fun…” Fei Xing’en grumbled.
“This is Mingzhi’s estate. Bullying people isn’t very classy,” Xu Baiqiu added coldly.
The jeers gradually faded, and the unpleasant stares shifted away.
But up front, Wen Mingzhi and Shen Yishuang were still chatting and laughing, looking like a perfect match.
Zhou Tian swallowed hard. Her hands clenched at her sides, nails digging into her palm—not that she felt the pain.
She stared at them, sharp needles stabbing into her heart, making it hard to breathe.
Even if she humbled herself, always pleasing and obedient, Wen Mingzhi never truly looked at her. Maybe, as Situ Yujia said, she was just a kept canary—a toy for amusement.
Her lips were tightly pressed together.
“Aww, stayed around Mingzhi too long and started fantasizing? What now, illusion shattered?” Situ Yujia sneered.
“Thanks for your concern. But even if I’m a canary, I’m her canary,” Zhou Tian replied with a faint smile that didn’t reach her icy eyes.
“Heh… then act like a proper pet. You know what happens to pets, right? Don’t get cocky. Once Mingzhi gets bored, she’ll toss you out.” Situ Yujia leaned closer, voice low and threatening.
“Little canary, know your worth. What right do you have to talk to me like this?” she mocked.
“Why would Mingzhi like someone like you?” she muttered, unleashing her S-class mental pressure.
Zhou Tian’s A-class alpha aura was no match. She began to sweat under the strain, barely able to hold on.
“What are you doing, Situ Yujia!? Are you crazy?” Xu Baiqiu rushed over. “This is Mingzhi’s place!”
Situ Yujia snapped out of it, scoffed, and walked away.
“You okay?” Xu Baiqiu frowned.
“Want to rest a bit?” Fei Xing’en also looked annoyed and glared at Situ Yujia’s back.
“Thank you,” Zhou Tian said softly.
“No need for that.
